Your visit to Yingge is simply incomplete without arriving at the historic ceramics street just 10 minutes walk from the train station. This, for me, is the heart of Yingge. Enjoy the historic paved streets, along which lie several shops selling beautiful pottery from local made goods to imported ware from neighbouring countries. There are options for everybody ranging from ceramic bowls to finely decorated porcelain plates, full traditional tea sets to western style teapots and cups, even ceramic cutlery was on display. If you feel too hot during the heat of the day, there is an air-conditioned indoor centre where more shops lie, selling their own pottery as well as paintings. Feeling thirsty or hungry? Enjoy some grass jelly tea and grab yourself some bao zi for lunch. Overall, Yingge is the perfect place to go for those seeking ideal souvenirs to take home to their loved ones. It’s also great if you want to see outside of the main city of Taipei without going to rural Taiwan.

Lots of ceramic items with good price. Other than that theres not many food and they close really earlly. Feel like a tourist place and not really attractive. Anw could be fun for family to hand out.

It’s a very touristy attraction, but you can buy nice souvenirs to take home. If you like D.I.Y. With Ceramic, then you are in luck as there are several places that you can try to satisfy your inner artist. Streets are closed to auto traffic on the weekends and holidays, so you’d have to park in one of the paid parking lots outside of the historic street, but it’s only NT$20 per hour. There were only one or two street food vendors when we visited on a Wednesday, but I was told there are a lot more street vendors on the weekends. The overall appearance was very disappointing as it doesn’t feel anything “historic”. All the buildings were renovated and looked new. We won’t be coming back anytime soon.

We parked at the Yingge Elementary school (during weekends, you need to pay 100ntd once you get in, no time limit) and walked down to the Yingge Old street. You can simply find some street food and lots of porcelain stores. If you are with kids, let your kids be careful with some breakable items.

Went on a Tuesday, and a lot of stuff was closed. Making our own cups was fun. Nice looking old buildings and historic kilne was interesting. Would give it 3.5 if that was an option. Glad we went but probably wouldn't bother again based on what we saw.

It is a great place for experiencing the local culture, history, industry, and products. Street food is also available. Particularly, there are workshops where people can make their own ceramic crafts. Overall, this is a good place for families to spend time together. We had a great time here but have two things to comment: 1. Parking could be very challenging. 2. It is so overcommercialized that too many things that are not local have come in and thus diluted the lovely local stuff.

Great place to buy pottery, ornaments and to see some interesting artworks. The twin is old but clean and parking is limited but they’ve made great efforts to cater for the large array of people which visit at the weekend. Yingge also sits on the train line making it easy to visit by train, the stop is actually right next to old street and the center of Yingge’s pottery streets. Well worth a visit.

I went here with my wife. Fantastic experience to be honest. We went to a DIY ceramic shop where we both made our own custom pottery and it was a wonderful experience to share together. The people in the shop were lovely and the final product turned out great. Definitely recommend if you’re looking to spend time with your partner and create a memorable experience together with something to take home

A large concentrated area full of ceramic shops. Selling every kind of pottery, ceramic and porcelain imaginable. There is a ceramic museum with interesting exhibits. Easily accessible by train from Taipei. A great way to spend a day.
