Nice ambience, clean and service was good. Food is at par. For 2 people we had 1 salmon bento, 1 order of Takoyaki, 1 seafood stir-fried noodle which came to ~$37 with 5% tax included.

I am eating now, just looked up, suddenly found today's sunset is very beautiful!!! I especially enjoyed Chef's Roll, which is a category of delicious rolls. Nice day!

Hands down the Best sushi and service in the lower mainland. Incredible food with top notch service! This place is always busy but they are fast, efficient and always so great to visit! Pricing is very good especially when you consider the large portions and high quality of the food that you receive, they are always innovative and so new additions to the menu are common place! Try the new golden chicken roll! Wow very tasty! You can Virtually anything from the menu and it will superb! I’ve never had a bad meal here and every meal I’ve had here has been spectacular!

I don’t know what possessed me to venture into the wilds of Surrey BC, a place where the main culture is bacterial and the only art is graffiti. Maybe it was the promise of a funky and cool sushi joint with excellent jazzy techno music. Maybe it was the curiosity to see if there is any life beyond Patello Bridge. Maybe it was just a moment of madness. Whatever it was, I soon regretted it as I drove past strip malls, vape stores, shadey quality used car dealerships, gas stations and way to many pawn shops, looking for Shogan Sushi, a place that claims to be the best sushi restaurant in Vancouver. I found it in a nondescript building on King George Boulevard, next to a payday loan store and a nail salon, and used video game store. I entered with trepidation, hoping to find some hidden gem in this distopian wasteland. The decor was indeed vibrant and eclectic Japanese with a massive mural on the wall, red tear drop lights and lots of fresh chocikeys. The music was actually from several loading screen from a playstation 4 game. The staff were friendly enough and very professional, but looked bored and tired, kind of like the ladies who work the streets outside. I ordered a selection of sushi rolls, hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation. I was half right. The presentation was excellently on point, with elaborate garnishes and amazing plating. The sushi looked like works of art, almost too pretty to eat. But when I did eat some karrage, I was mildly disappointed by the blandness and weakness of it. The Kamikaze roll salmon skin was chewiness and fishiness and pointed out the lack of freshness of the ingredients. The food was all style and had less substance. I left feeling unsatisfied and slightly nauseous. I paid my bill, which was reasonable for the hefty quantity but not for the quality. We drove back to Coquitlam, vowing never to return to Shogan Sushi. It was a wasted trip, a wasted meal, and a wasted review.

Great food and amazing service! Made reservations for a party of 8, had the space to accommodate us and provided services when needed such as offering tea often and clearing empty plates from table respectfully. Extra touch, chef created a special sushi dish for us to try that is not on the menu (refer to photo). Will definitely go back for future meals.

service always good. but on my birthday it was excellent. my friend took the cake and they put it away, after everyone ate it, they brought the cake, and changed the song that was playing for the happy birthday. How cute! they gave 2 dishes for free. the food is always delicious and well served. They were all full and almost couldn't eat the cake. Thank you!

A friend recommended I try Sushi Shogun while I was in the area. The staff were super friendly. We ordered california rolls, dynamite rolls, a yam roll, and a spicy tuna roll. I really loved their spicy tuna roll and everything tasted really fresh. Great spot, but in a bit of a sketchy area. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Ordered from here twice now and disappointed both times. The food is ice cold, dried out and over all extremely poor quality both times. We got take out both times and live directly across the street so the food should still be fresh when it arrives. These tempura and gyozas are so dried out and chewy and just not edible. The rolls weren't even properly rolled and falling apart. Some of the "Canuck Rolls" didn't even come with crab or cucumber at all. I didnt get a photo before we threw out the beef teriyaki but it was very chewy/fatty and not a good quality meat used. Was lacking in teriyaki sauce and they gave us the smallest amount of wasabi, they are soooo stingy. When i opened the bag they had just thrown in plastic containers of soy sauce and they spilled all over inside the bag This place does not take care and attention when preparing your food. I tried to love it twice now but sadly will not be back! There are MANY another options in the neighborhood like Sushi & Roll that I will continue to order from. What a waste of money this was 😡

Amazing little sushi shop in surrey! As you can see, the presentation is unbelievable. They really went over our expectations and I really appreciate that. We had a variety of rolls: the come roll, chopped scallop roll, salmon and avocado roll, lover roll and the crispy tuna delight roll. All of them were amazing and they blow torched a few of the rolls which adds a smoky flavor. I think they could have omitted the cheese in the come roll (it was the plastic american cheese) cause it didn't really add anything, but other than that, the food was amazing. We also ordered the takoyaki (standard, nothing special) and the fried squid (very good, sauce makes it tastier). I would absolutely come here again! The service was also amazing so I do highly recommend this place.

We've driven by this restaurant many times and never considered going in until some friends recommended it to us saying that it was amazing. We went there today with a couple that were celebrating their two year wedding anniversary. The restaurant was very clean and modern and the service was excellent. They made sure to check our vaccination status as they sat us down. My wife and I have been enjoying sushi at different restaurants all over the lower mainland and the Fraser Valley for over 30 years. We are by no means food critics or sushi connoisseurs but we appreciate well prepared and presented food when dining out. Our experience at sushi Shogun today was the best dining room sushi experience we have ever had. They brought a sushi boat with a few of our orders on it, and they had made beautiful ornaments and arrangements to enhance the visual presentation and then the server put some liquid in a dish and it made a dried ice effect float over the food it was amazing. The taste was explosive and we had such a good time. We would recommend this restaurant to anybody that loves good sushi prices are reasonable and we will definitely be going back. We found our new sushi honey hole!

It could be hit or miss I’d say. I have ordered from this place few times. The first time everything was oh so great. Got a few rolls and they were packed nicely. The rolls had good taste and not falling apart. Second time ordering we added udon which was good portion wise but I found it’s rather very oily with little meat. Third time ordering rolls again, unfortunately the rolls were not assembled properly as it fell apart when I tried pick it up using chopstick. UPDATE: I finally tried out their dine in option for dinner and got the beef teriyaki bento box. It was really good and came with a huge portion. Service was great too, they filled out our tea constantly. However, they did NOT check for the covid vaccine card.

This place blew me away. With the location being in a sketchy neighborhood, I only decided to try this place out because of the great reviews. Sushi Shogun did not disappoint and certainly deserves the high praise! Eating here was a lovely experience right down to the smallest details: comfortable chairs, attentive and friendly staff, pleasing presentation, super clean washrooms, and big portions. To think they started here at the start of COVID, too. I'm so impressed. I'm definitely taking my friends here again.

Not quality sushi. Three rolls were packed into a container sticking to each other and fell apart as I tried to pick them out. They were twice the standard size (good value for your money if you are looking for that) and were difficult to eat and again fell apart. The teriyaki chicken roll had skin on the chicken and was surprisingly warm… The edamame beans were undercooked. My daughter’s avocado roll had brown avocado in it. She loves soy sauce with it so I asked for extra. They gave us two packets. The miso was good. Needles to say we hardly ate any of the rolls. I will not order from them again.

-Amazing ambiance -Good presentation -Average Taste -Service could be a lot better, the first server came in with a lot of attitude(wearing a Lamb of god T-shirt) and the second girl was very kind. -It’s certainly worth a visit because of the ambiance and presentation. Taste and service could be improved.

This is the best sushi in Surrey by a mile and possibly the best in the lower mainland. The service is excellent and the food looks amazing and tastes better. This gem is nestled in the heart of Whalley. MUST NOT MISS!

Good food, average prices, nice decor, exceptional/attentive service… in a not so great neighbourhood. (We were a table of four. Our food was served at different times but it didn’t bother us because our server was so attentive.)

Sushi varied from okay to good. Worth the money but I personally wouldn't have the need to go back again. The raw fish was warm which was concerning but I convinced myself it was because I had it delivered and that the rice warmed it up. Sashimi was bland.

The food is really good and affordable. One of the servers is very friendly. They would reserve a table for 12/15 people if you need. If you take out you order you ha e a 15% discount. I highly recommend this restaurant !

Delicious & always fresh sushi, quick service and a lot of attention has been paid to the detail of the restuarant set up. The sushi is however a bit on the pricy end compared to other sushi places nearby, but definately worth a visit a few times for sure, definatley recommend. Just make sure you order more then $40 worth of food to get 15% off your take out order, the owners should clarify that on their menu that take out order discount applies after a certain amount of purchase.

You HAVE to go here. You have to. Do it. Just do it. You got a minute for lunch? Come here. I know the outside may be intimidating due to the neighborhood, but TRUST ME. Come. Sit. Love. $15.95 got me a rad bento box with totally crispy tempura, light and fresh salad, YUMMY teriyaki, miso soup, spring roll, AND a California Roll. This baby was fresh. The staff are incredibly attentive. The chef was highly rated and opened up here, moving his restaurant from the north shore. I was super surprised and will absolutely be back.

Ordered from this place through Uber Eats at around 10pm on a Saturday evening and it took about 45-50 minutes, which wasn't bad for a weekend. We ordered: 1.Pork Gyoza 2. Sashimi Box 3. Spicy Combo 4. Chicken Yaki Soba The gyoza & tempura was pretty standard - the sashimi & dynamite rolls tasted fresh, although we didn't touch the salad that came with the box since the dressing on it looked like watered down milk - but other than that the Sashimi box had quite a variety - tempura, spring roll, dynamite roll & sashimi (3 salmon, 2 tuna). My husband ordered the spicy combo and he enjoyed it as well (1 spicy dynamite roll, 1 spicy tuna roll, & 1 spicy salmon roll) - I tried a few rolls myself and it wasn't overly spicy, but you can tell there was a bit of spice from the sauce. The chicken yaki soba wasn't too bad. It was a large portion, lots of noodles and a decent amount of chicken, we had quite a bit leftover. It was a bit on the oily side, but it didn't deter us from eating it.

You guys make the best Yakisoba in Surrey, hands down, but the salmon avocado/California sushi seems to be lacking salmon/crab meat. This was not good at all. Tasted pretty much like rice avocado sushi. Also, found 2 jalapeños on random parts of the roll, my daughter are one of them. Not good experience this time.

Food is delicious, presentation is great. Some food items were a little slower than others to get out but all in all a great experience. I recommend you visit this place rather than order online from a food app. It does a GREAT disservice to have it delivered.
