This is a great way to break up your trip if you’re heading from Long Island to New England. I love being able to avoid going through New York City and the related traffic. Generally it doesn’t save you much time but it does save you the headache of being stuck in traffic jams. Also, the ferries are nice quick and efficient with restaurants and bars on board, and it just gives you an opportunity to unwind and get off your butt and walk around a long road trips. Reservations are mandatory and priority service to get you first on first off, is a nice convenience.

Enjoyable ride from New London CN to Orient Point NY. Does not save time if you are going to NYC but does avoid much of the traffic.

This is the greatest way to avoid the endless gridlock of NYC traffic as well as the comparable traffic in parts of Connecticut. The crew is super friendly, as are the employees in the parking lot. For those familiar with it, this ferry reminds me of the Kitsap Puget Sound Ferry, only better! They have a great cafeteria with surprisingly good food. The trip is about the same as the trip from anywhere in New England to NYC when there's little traffic and far quicker than when there is traffic.

This was my first time being on a big ferry ship like this and it was definitely a great experience. I was one of the first cars onboard and after parking I headed upstairs and was amazed at the size of the sitting area upstairs and also that there was a small café onboard! Very nice that the seats have places to plug in and charge devices. I loved the views from the upper deck, and when we were pulling into the port on arrival there were fireworks going off which was pretty cool :) - visited on August 6, 2021

We took the lighthouse tour ferry. Well worth the price. The narrator of the tour was very knowledgeable and humorous. Highly recommend.

Was so convenient to get on with my car and go across. Clean inside the boat and nice food bar to choose from.

Great ferry service, I had a 3pm crossing but got there at 12:45 and then took me early.

Great way to cross the sound with your car from tip of Long Island to New London , CT. Cheaper than driving with high cost of gas and New York Bridge tolls and it’s a peaceful hour and a have cruise on the sound!

The chillest hour and thirty minutes of my vacation. Food options on the boat were great and super affordable. This was the last affordable thing before we went to the Hamptons.

I have enjoyed taking the ferry home to Long Island since I enjoined the military. Now I am older and I get to share the fun of taking the ferry to Long Island with my kids.
