Part of a larger coffee network, the Coffee Project East Village is a small coffee shop in...well...the East Village. On a Sunday morning, my wife and I stopped in for quality coffee. We were met with that and excellent service. The space is small, but they make good use of a few tables inside and a little bar with coffee condiments. The staff are helpful and make your drink within minutes behind the bar. If you stay inside, they bring you your drink. My wife loved their decaf latte and my campfire latte was fun with a marshmallow and graham crackers in it!

Coffee Project gained popularity on a bunch of lists and recommendation sites because of its unique offerings like the deconstructed latte flight. While I didn’t get that this time around, I did try their house drip coffee to see if it’s also high quality and how it compares to some other shops. Overall, the flavor was good and well balanced, not too bitter or too weak. The staff was nice and there were a few chairs available inside and outside.

Nice tiny Cafe featuring Deconstructed Latte and Nitro Flight. Great avocado toast, fresh bread, seasoned avocado, tomato chunks. Friendly staff! Water, sugar, stirring sticks located at the entrance. Nitro Flight 8/10 Avocado toast 9/10

Great coffee and service! Outside seating is cozy. The deconstructed latte is an interesting experience and certainly great for coffee lovers. You start with a sip of the espresso, then a sip of the foamed milk, a sip of the sparking water and take a bite of the crispy cookie, lastly take a sip of the latte.

Best espresso in the area! Love their deconstructed latte so much, too bad they don’t have it in any other branch. Nitro flight is also good, as good as their Chai Latte. Croissant and other pastries were nice and warm too. Perfect breakfast for us. They provide water to clean your palate, FYI. My fav coffee shop in New York City 🤍

My favorite coffee shop in East Village. A cozy neighborhood place where in the morning you can see people grabbing their coffee in pajamas. The espresso-based coffee are smooth and nutty, have that dark chocolate flavor. There are a bunch of twisted version of coffee drinks (nitro cold brew float for example) and single origin pour over so you can always find something that fits your day. There are quite a bunch of outdoor seats during the pandemic which is pretty amazing. A great place for coffee or just some quality time for yourself.

Like most everyone in the reviews section, I tried their signature Deconstructed Latte: espresso shot, steamed milk, warm latte, sparkling water. It is recommended that you will taste your latte better if you drink from left to right and ending on the actual latte. The sparkling water is used as a palette cleanser and the cracker is something to munch on at the end. My palette isn't refined enough to taste all the things but overall, it was extremely good!

Got the seasonal latte which was a black sesame latte, had it with oatmilk which was delicious. Perfectly balanced espresso with the milk. The latte art was beautiful as well and love the ceramic mugs they serve drinks in to stay. There is not a lot of seating inside but a nice spot to enjoy a drink. On the weekend they do not allow laptops. I also tried the Leamington which was incredible, very light and fluffy.

Fantastic specialty coffee. Pour over with multiple options of coffees, techniques, and hot/iced. Balanced, bright, and smooth. Deconstructed latte was unique and fun. A bit pricey but well worth it - this isn't your typical mocha latte spot

The drip coffee was excellent. They have a machine that I had never seen that creates a very clean brew with strong notes. Small indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Inside it's air conditioned.

Decent coffee shop. Deconstructed latte is a little gimmicky. Good coffee but for $12 absolutely not worth it. They should also streamline the QR code instructions for how to enjoy it. The video is like 2-3 minutes long -- a simple sentence or two would have been much faster to read. Nice workers. Good snacks. No bathroom.

I would say that it is the best drip coffee I had in NY! The coffee shop is small and kind of hard to find, but Someone recommended it to me. I also got a cake (Lamington) and it was so good!

Was intrigued to try new coffee twists, I would probably pass on the deconstructed latte. After all, when you do so, it is just espresso and milk! Very tasty coffee, and I will admit to just falling for the marketing. Also wasn’t that into the coconut coffee, a little too sweet. I think we just ordered poorly as everything else does seem good and the espresso and regular latte I had were great.

Coffee tastes excellent. Very strong with pronounced flavors. Staff is nice and they don't up charge for almond milk. Large coffee was only $3.50 too which is a good price-point.

Nice small coffee shop with ~8 seats inside and some outside seatings. The shop staffs are super nice and enthusiastically explain the menu to me. The latte (pictured) is very nice and smooth. The not pumpkin spiced latte (second picture) is also quite smooth and tasty, with hint of spice and chocolate but not overly sweet.

There are other locations, but this location gives the best NYC experience with its cozy seating and patio. The espresso drinks are excellent and the pastries, too! The folks behind the counter were kind and patient. Well worth the walk from the subway.

We visited NYC for a week and wanted to try a local coffee place. If you love coffee and are in to modern/new this is the place for you. My wife and I each got a deconstructed latte and we are happy we gave it a try!! They have been open just over a year but it is a must visit while in NYC! The owners are super chill and incredibly pleasant. You can tell that they really love what they do and truly value their customers. It's a little small so during busy hours can be a bit of a wait but most definitely worth it if you have the time!!

Amazing coffee, amazing staff, and amazing service inside a charming, cozy shop tucked away in East Village. I didn't get to try a pastry or sandwich but they looked fresh and delicious. Their deconstructed latte was wonderful. Great place to stop before hitting up the nearby parks, NYU or Union and Wash Sq. Great place to chill with a friend and people-watch, or do work since they have fast WiFi which I saw a few people there doing. I can definitely see myself being a regular here if I lived in the neighborhood but it was worth the trip regardless. You can tell that a lot of love and care is put into every drop.

Amazing coffee shop that I visit whenever I'm in town. The deconstructed latte is so unique and really gives you a feel of the flavours and textures. Friendly staff who walk you through the menu if needed.

neighborhood coffee shop located on Fifth street. haven't been here in a bit--over a year...there are some seating options inside and more outside. the interior is simple and neat--superclean with a good amount of light. quiet vibes here on the weekday afternoons. the drinks coffee served here are good. had the nitro cold, last time i was here. tasted good--the nitro was not as rich and smooth as it was in the past. not sure if the nitro bubbles being injected were weaker or perhaps the coffee used was changed. it wit a bit different than in the past. still a fine cup of chilled coffee. nitro / $5ish + tip service is fast and efficient, a bit quiet...not much chatter.

The sakura blossom latte was beautiful. It had a strawberry essence and was so beautifully crafted. The shop is a little small, but there are some tables inside to do some work or reading.

I had the deconstructed latte. The espresso was very strong and the cherry flavor was really good. The latte itself was alright

I enjoyed my time at this super intimate cafe with free wifi and exceptionally well-made coffee. A bit pricier than I’d like and a bit too intimate for a laptop-friendly space, however. Also, no public bathroom, fyi.

Came here for their famous deconstructed latte. Unique experience of enjoying a cup of latte in a wine glass and the ability to customize the ratio of milk and espresso was interesting. It does come with a high price tag, but it’s worth a try if you’re a fan of latte.

On my trip to LES, I stumbled upon Coffee Project New York after checking out their Instagram feed featuring their coffee flight. The coffee shop itself is very small and has limited seating, but it was no short of NYU students and locals dropping by to pick up a cup of joe. I decided to try out their latte coffee flight, which came with one shot of their house espresso, milk, and then latte itself. Once you are served the flight, they instruct you to follow some simple instructions using a video so that you can maximize the experience. As a coffee lover myself, I enjoyed the coffee flight experience. The espresso tasted wonderful and you can really get the flavor notes more than if you ordered the latte itself. Yeah, it seems gimmicky and it’s a bit expensive at $12, but if you’re looking for a unique experience in the city or are an avid coffee lover, I think it’s worth the try.
