Been trying to get down here ever since my buddy informed me that the sister spot in Chelsea made incredible sandwiches. Light work day for a Friday so I rounded up some coworkers to take a walk to the shop. It's Cash Only with an ATM in the establishment if you are short of cash. I believe the boss was working the slicer. I got the #1 The Milano on the white roll, under $20, weighed about 5lbs and it was absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish the whole sandwich, only able to eat half so I saved the rest for dinner. It was still delicious about 7 hours later.

'Are you hungry?', I asked her. She replied, 'Yea, what do you feel like? An Italian sandwich?' I paused for a second and said, 'Sure. You mean like Pane ****** in Bay Ridge?!' 'No, I thought you didn't want to go that far. Like Pisillo, in lower Manhattan.' 'Never heard of it.' Well, I was in for surprise! The sandwich here at Pisillo took me back to Italy. It was the taste in each bite made from the best and freshest ingredients. The focaccia was the perfect consistency and sandwich was made to perfection. Our host even came by with some olive paste to try on the sandwich. It too, was yummy. The host takes great pleasure in the food they prepare and serve and the entire experience was well worth it. The location is small so be prepared to take your sandwich to go and their cafe next door has good coffee and pastry options. Contact tracing was in effect as well at this location.

Oh man. You're not going to ever come back to NYC and not make time to hit Pisillo. It was as amazing as it looks. I'm so happy. I got the Palermo on focaccia. I'm heading back soon. Highly recommend.

Cash only. Solid $20 sandwich that will last you at least 2 meals. Got the flagship #26 Pisillo for lunch. Had a lot of great flavor variety and really lets the prosciutto stand out. I was recommended Ciabatta bread. IMHO, a good amount of filling. Bread is a little too hard. Warming of the sandwich would probably help it. It is extremely large and I had the second half for dinner. I'd still give the edge to DISO's for softer bread, more variety, warm sandwiches, slightly better pricing. However you can't go wrong if you have cash and are nearby.

Italian Sandwiches That will feed you for days! My sandwich was 3 days of meals and I love to eat, it was just too huge! Go for a sandwich and know you will be able to eat leftovers! So I will start with this, if you are a vegetarian, you an eat here and Pisillo DOES NOT SKIMP on anything unlike other places with veggie hoagies and cheese. Now, as an Italian Chica, this was my jam. Stacked and large. Fresh ingredients and just plain good. The only real negative is that there are really only 4 tables in there, which if they were busy, would not be a good thing, but we were there after lunch rush so we got seats! The owner is wonderful and helpful. Bread is as fresh as could be with a good exterior crunch and then the ingredients inside the bread take care of the rest! The Ancona is as good on Day 1 as it is on Day3! There are 35+ sandwich options or you can make your own. It's CASH ONLY but there is also an ATM right inside. 4 sandwiches + 4 cans of soda were about $75 - Everyone was so stuffed and NONE of us, even the biggest foodie in our group could finish their sandwich! So rather than fried garbage or a mini sandwich that will cost you the same, this FIDI (Nassau St) sandwich shop is the winner! Get it to-go and enjoy!

So glad we found this spot! The $1 extra for the bread was worth it. Plenty of meat and fresh ingredients. I recommend sharing with people because the portions are huge and you can try different ones! Not pictured on this sandwhich because I was already eating it, BUT GET THE ROASTED PEPPERS.

This is hyped up for a reason. Split the special and 17 to taste both and they were great. You can taste how fresh the meat is. The sandwiches are huge. It’s cash only but there’s an ATM inside if you forget.

Amazing sandwich! This small sandwich shop has a big menu with amazing sandwiches. You can choose different type of rolls. I had a special, which was very tasteful, the ingredients were full of flavor and were from a high quality. When ordering in shop it’s cash only, but you can order online too and pay by card that way. Prices are ok. Avg around $18-22 The service is really good, friendly and helpful. They work fast. Shop is small with only a few seats.

I ordered my sandwich on the J going over the bridge, and it was ready by the time I got to Fulton Street! Recommend ordering ahead if you don’t have cash. The sandwiches are huge and definitely splittable. I got a mozzarella and hot pepper sandwich on the sesame bread—incredible bread and great flavors on the sandwich.

First time here I ordered the #17 Trieste, this cost $14.90. When I arrived to the store it said cash only, so I had to use the app so it came out to $19. The sandwich was pretty good. I would’ve liked more balsamic for next time. The semolina bread was soft and tasty.

Really awesome sandwiches!! Very delicious. Tons of sandwich option to please anybody’s appetite. This place is only cash only so bring some cash. The service was friendly and fast. Definitely check this place out. I highly recommend this place.

I got a customized panini yesterday. It was average in all honesty. The ingredients were fresh & portions were worth 2 meals, which are the only reasons the price is justifiable. Paninis aren’t extra special. It lacked flavor & I don’t like that it’s an only cash business. They have Italian lemon and blood orange sodas here. I enjoyed the blood orange soda. Cash only. $20 for the panini & blood orange soda. Overall, it’s overrated to me. The owner isn’t humble, he’s more so arrogant as you can read from his responses to the less than 4 star reviews. I got white bread, salami, arugula, fresh mozzarella, fresh tomato, and balsamic vinaigrette. Their balsamic vinaigrette wasn’t flavorful in my opinion, it lacked the vinaigrette part. PS the QR code on the window doesn’t even work.

I have a high bar for any sandwich shop. This place is an easy 5/5. Multiple selections for bread and both the ciabatta and regular hero were perfectly crunchy on the outside and chewy soft in the middle. The prosciutto, sopressata , etc were all sliced goldlilocks not too thick not too thin (for a sandwich). The mootz was fresh. I got the #8 The Palermo if you like a little kick 🌶️ this one’s for you. My wife got the #17 Trieste added salami and loved it. Most importantly, the sandwiches were big. Not Sal Kris Charlie big but just right for someone with a solid appetite to be satisfied, all for $16 a pop. Easy 5/5, easily coming back here esp since I work in the area.

Simple ingredients but all fresh and flavourful. Excellent sandwich, highly recommend the sun dried tomatoes and olive topping. One sandwich enough for two people.

Love the place...I discovered this little corner of pure italian food, in 2016 and as soon as O could come back to NY, I didn't waste time and had my big italian sandwich...if ypu are around Ground Zero, visiting the area of One Wprld Trade Centre, I strongly suggest to give a bite to the fantqstic sandwitches they make. You won't be disappointed, believe me. The place is small inside, so better grab the sandwich and eat it in the Ground Zero park, but if there is space left, ypu can also eat inside. Enjoy...

Fantastic Italian sandwich shop just a block from WTC. As others have said the sandwiches are huge and will do many people for two meals! Fresh and tasty. Huge amounts of prosciutto in the #2 Napoli. Will be back when next in NYC.

Living in a state that can't make subs "DE". And coming from a state that has the best Italian food and subs NJ. This place sits at the top of that list. May I say top 3 ever and I'm 63 years old. Don't pass it up you will NOT be disappointed.

Holy cow the sandwiches in this place are incredible. First off, it's the size of my forearm. I don't know how anyone could eat one sandwich alone, for me it took three tries. High quality ingredients across the board. Just be prepared when you enter, it's very busy and the folks there need to get people through fast.

Oh this is 100% worth the hype. I love that it looks like an assuming stop & very glad our friend recommended it. Not sure if the man himself usually works here but he was there when we went so maybe that's why it was that extra special but honestly, these sandwiches are AMAZING. We're from Europe, so the sizes were quite intimidating and split two sandwiches between 4: the special (a spicy wonder that I'm still dreaming of) on a sub & the house special on focaccia. The foccacia looks dense but tastes so soft and fresh! The meat is very well flavoured and the layers of veg, salad, & sauces is just perfection. This is everything I dreamed of in a New York sandwich / sub. It is 100% worth the time. Also, do ask if you'd like it cut into halves or quarters, and you can take it to eat for later (which still holds up, as I was the wuss of the group who couldn't finish mine).

So one of my coworkers mentioned to me that this is his favorite sandwich in the city. Hearing that I had to give it a try and let me tell you…it did not disappoint. It’s an old school, small little shop that still is cash only. There’s about 40 different types of sandwiches and each one is made fresh right in front of you. I ordered the 17 which included prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, arugula and a balsamic dressing. It was loaded with meat and cheese and the dressing was delicious. For about $16 you get like a 15-16in sandwich. Enough for leftovers the next day. I cannot wait to go back and give a few of the other sandwiches a try!

Very authentic Italian sandwich place. Highly recommend. Nino was very friendly and our sandwich tasted great. Big portion, feeds 2 people. Very fresh ingredients. They slice the prosciutto on the spot. Special bread costs a bit extra. CASH only!

The best sandwich I have ever had. The bread is so fresh and delicious. The sandwiches are big but not overwhelming. Everything is made fresh. The videos on Facebook are awesome. You see the passion they have for their food. I can't wait to go back.

Great sandwich, even better service. Huge sandwich with Italian ingredients. Suggest getting fresh motza if you don’t like too salty. Loved the folk working in the restaurant. @lactoseintollerants_in_denial

Delicious sandwiches made fresh right in front of you after placing your order. They are big enough to split with someone or take home for later. I got the Napoli and it was delicious! My bread of choice was semolina and I asked for it to be toasted. The service was fast and very friendly. Very authentic Italian and I recommend to anyone visiting that area of NYC.

The quality of meats here is incredible. The mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, prosciutto, salami, delicious. And the bread. I could eat that by itself and be satisfied with that alone. Be aware this, you really can't finish the sandwich in one sitting. It will be your lunch and dinner 😂❤️

Excellent large Italian sandwiches. This place is always using the most fresh ingredients. It may look like a small hole in the wall shop but there is a lot of love in their food. Well done!

Ordered #2 on ciabatta. Ingredients were fresh and the sandwich itself is huge. The bread was my favorite part. It was fresh crusty on the outside and soft inside. Mozz was good but not the best I’ve had. Arugula was fresh and prosciutto wasn’t too salty. I wouldn’t buy this sandwich again. Personally I feel like they should dress the sandwiches with more toppings. It was kind of bland overall if I weren’t for the bread itself. Service is fast and cash only.

Got the pisillo on ciabatta, a little under $20. Long sandwich, like 12-14 inches long. Definitely recommend sharing it. Initial bites I would give an 8/10. After the first half, the remaining got a bit tiring, 7/10. Would like if they had hot sandwiches.

True Italian coffee/pastries. Unexpected find for the area!

  • 4/5 Alex D. 2 years ago on Google
Don't let the high prices fool you, you are getting what is essentially a sandwich and a half, these things are huge. Taste is great too. I've never been able to finish a full sandwich in one sitting so maybe plan for that. Only thing that's slightly annoying is it's still cash only while being in the financial district. I expect cash only in places like Chinatown but not here. Alternatively you can just use seamless and pick it up. All in all great place to go for sandwiches.
