We had a fantastic trip with Ian. We were lucky with the weather, but were offered blankets in case we got cold. The communication on where to meet was smooth and Ian was very friendly. It was great to have such a private experience with only a small group and see all the main sights. I thought it was good value for the experience and would definitely recommend to others.

My parents husband and I booked a 5pm sail and we had an amazing time. We passed all of the major attractions the city has to offer. After living in the city for 10 years it was awesome to see every day attractions from different vantage points (going under the Brooklyn bridge, passing right in front of the Statue of Liberty, etc). Ian was so nice and accommodating. He texted us before the date of booking to ensure we knew where to meet and was very responsive. It's clear he has a passion and expertise for what he does. I felt very safe in his hands. I would absolutely book again with Brooklyn Sail!

The sail was absolutely beautiful! First time in New York and it was a perfect way to see it and some of its famous points. We was running a little late (8mins) due to traffic and he waited for me and my mom. I was so appreciative of that. Very peaceful sail. Loved everything

This was the perfect excursion to take with out of town friends! The sail was an incredible value for the experience and the intimate setting being a private tour for our small group. We had so much fun taking in the sights and it was especially fun for those of us who hadn’t been to NYC to see the city from this perspective. Ian was professional, communicative, and friendly. From booking to day-of, the entire experience was seamless. Thank you for a memorable day!

Such a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening. Ian is a great host, super easy going and friendly. His boat is gorgeous, clean and perfect for a group of friends looking to enjoy a sail around lower Manhattan. Incredible views and you don't have to fight a million tourists to get a great shot. I've done my fair share of boat cruises around the city and would definitely name Brooklyn Sail as #1 in my book. Thanks Ian!

Ian was a superb captain and host on our sightseeing sail of New York. Communication was excellent and we had the most amazing time. Ian is knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I highly recommend his tour as a way to experience NYC from a unique and wonderful vantage point.

This was a magical NYC experience like no other! The boat, the sunset, and the captain were the best. I was concerned about being out on the water on a chilly November evening but Ian provided blankets and we stayed outside for most of the trip. We loved every minute

Wonderful 2 hour sail! Highly recommend for a really nice night out. The boat fits 6 people and we rented out. There is a nice per person discount to rent out the boat if you plan to go with 5 others. A very calm sail, Andrew was a great captain. There were no issues putting up the sail or going around. We passed all of the main sights from the Brooklyn Bridge to Governors Island to the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island to the Freedom Tower. You get really close to all of the sights, around 100 yards away from Lady Liberty. Awesome to see Her from the front with no crowds or anyone near her. We were free to roam the boat and spent most of the time at the front, where there was a great breeze. The boat is BYOB and we brought white wine and some meats and cheese. There is also a menu on board with seltzer, beer, wine, etc. Highly recommend for great views and memories that will last a lifetime!

We had an amazing sunset sail with our friends and Andrew leading the way. Beautiful views, a great & comfortable boat, and just a relaxing and fun time. The whole operation was so smooth and easy, we can't wait to come back. Can't recommend Brooklyn Sail enough.

Great experience. Short 2.5 hour tour around Manhattan. The view is incredible on the skyline. I highly recommend this experience. If you also have the right to plenty of sunshine, it's really nice.

Captain Andrew took my fiancée and I on a phenomenal sunset sail as we celebrated our engagement earlier that day. Andrew was so friendly, accommodating, and considerate - and the views were breathtaking. Can't imagine a better experience! 🙌

We had the best time on a private evening sail with Brooklyn Sail, and definitely plan to do it again!! I planned the booking as a surprise birthday gift with my boyfriend and family. The evening was one of my favorite NYC experiences to date. The sail was the perfect view/tour of the city at night. We were able to bring food and drinks aboard and were able to use the Bluetooth speaker they had to play music. It was a very intimate and special night that we look forward to booking again soon. Shout out to Andrew for being an A+ captain, we had a fabulous time with him! Great communication from start to finish. We really appreciate you making it such an effortless and seamless process! Would 10/10 recommend to anyone in the area looking for a private sail!!

Went on a trip with my partner with Ian as our guide. We had a wonderful time. You spend about 2 hours seeing the NY harbor. The price is very affordable for what you get and with max boat size of 6 people it promises to be an intimate experience. Sitting at the front of the bow is a dreamy experience. I would definitely recommend using the bathroom before going out because using it on the water can be difficult.

Brooklyn Sail is a great way to see the city. Perfect outing to take friends and family from out of town. We were four locals who had a wonderful time taking in all the sights. Look forward to future sailing with this group.

We had a very nice and relaxing time on our sail with Andrew even though it was windy and cloudy! It was cool to see the city from a different perspective! The small group size also made the experience more enjoyable! I would recommend and would definitely do another sail when in the city!

Such an amazing and underrated experience in NYC! I had no idea sailing around the city was so accessible and easy. Ian from Brooklyn Sail was super responsive and helpful in coordinating our group sail and getting delicious snacks for us to eat. The sail was super smooth and Ian knows what he’s doing! Would definitely recommend to anyone from the city or visiting the city - great views of the skyline and Statue of Liberty. We sailed at sunset so we got to see everything at sunset and at night. Amazing!!

My partner and I found ourselves in a really strange situation where we booked an entire trip to New York from Oklahoma, and found out 12 hours before our flight that we were not able to go due to the air condition/fires in Canada. Obviously we are heartbroken and majorly disappointed, not to forget- down on money from a lot of experiences that were pre-paid and non refundable. This team at Brooklyn Sail (Ian, especially) went above and beyond to help lighten the weight on our shoulders. They were able to process a refund for me and have been so kind the whole time. They were easy to book with and very accommodating from the jump. Can’t wait to reschedule this trip and meet you guys, and have you show us your city!

Our excursion with Brooklyn Sail could not have been any better! Ian is a total professional who went above and beyond to make sure we all had a fun time with great views. Seeing lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty at the sunset hour was absolutely incredible, I'd highly recommend a sail for those who are NYC locals and visitors alike. So fun!

I booked a sail on October 21st as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and we can't wait to go again with friends next season! We were both born and raised in NYC but have never seen Manhattan from such an incredible perspective. Prior to our sail I communicated with Ian via text and he was extremely informative & pleasant. We met Andrew (our captain) at the marina for our 5-7:30 pm cruise and it was seamless from there on. We were on board with two other couples and it still felt spacious and intimate on the boat! I packed a small cooler however, there were drinks available for purchase on board and PLENTY of amazing photo ops. If you're looking for a unique date night or activity with friends/ family I would definitely recommend a trip Brooklyn Sail.

We booked this day trip for our stay in New York and it did not disappoint one bit! We had the most memorable experience with our family, the other couple on board and of course our guide/sailor! We could not recommend including this to your itinerary on your next trip to New York or Brooklyn enough! It was such an amazing day and everyone left with big smiles and amazing photos! This company is without a doubt the best in the biz. Thankyou!!

This sail is a relaxing and away-from-the-crowds perfect view of the city and other key sites mentioned by other reviewers. The day was just perfect and it was just so nice for it to be just us and Ian. Ian was a great captain - he answered our questions as we had them and also let us sail and just enjoy the moment. Would definitely recommend!

Recently took the 2.5 hour sailing lesson with Captain Ian, right out of the Pier 5 Marina in the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront. Lovely setting, with direct access to NY Harbor and stunning views of downtown Manhattan. Consider this an "intro to sailing course", where Ian takes you through all the basics, from boat safety, to basic line knots for docking/mooring, radio comms, and sail handling, including tacking. All during a very enjoyable cruise around NY harbor. You will get to experience handling the boat, both at the helm and operating the winches and pulleys that handle the sail mechanisms, to feel what sailing is like. Of course you won't come back as an expert, but this will definitely let you know if you want to dive deeper into the sport/art of sailing. Ian's commitment to safety was apparent throughout the experience, which was reassuring, and his passion for sailing was contagious. Definitely recommend.

Let's just start with the fact that this is a family business ran and captained by the 2 Brothers Ian and Andrew. The most personable service and attention. We had a private sailing with Andrew and great mate Peter. The evening of a lifetime. Great sunset meeting us, a full moon coming back to. They made sure a had the most comfortable trip, and took great pictures for us.

Had a really great time. We were booked for the morning sail, but the weather didn't cooperate. They made the safe and appropriate decision to return to shore when unpredictable lightning was in the forecast (and they were absolutely right about the incoming weather). Ian was quick to offer us options on rebooking/refunds and we were able to get on a different trip later the same day. The sail was amazing. We had a beer on the boat as we sailed all throughout the harbor, under the bridges, around Governors Island, up to the base of the Statue of Liberty, along the west side of lower Manhattan, and then home. No crowds, nice people, beautiful sights. Wholeheartedly recommend!

😠 I would give it zero stars if possible. Of course they have guides at every corner selling this tour bus. I would say our sales person was excellent, but it's what happened after.
