Great location, trendy vibe to this well run hotel. The staff who run the elevators, bar and breakfast are all so good, helpful, friendly and work so hard to move many people around a busy NYC schedule. The two queen bed family room I booked was odd as they have the two queens pushed together like a European king 🤷‍♀️Not sure why but we separated them. The pillows had no loft at all which disappointed me but other than that, the rooms are super tidy, a safe is provided and ample clean towels. Four glasses instead of two would make sense in a room where we paid for four people. The lobby is lovely and their coffee shop/bar/ deli was very good and reasonably priced. The location was excellent just off TS by Tixfortonight and in the heart of a theatre. Get the included breakfast as it is so good. Lots of choices, fresh fruit? Yogurt, eggs, cheeses, pastries, bagels, toast, cereal, greens, sausages, many types of coffee it’s incredible and efficiently manages with so many people coming and going. Staff was cleaning all the time too which was great to see. They held our luggage until we had to depart as well. Would highly recommend as their price was better than anywhere else and with breakfast included.

I loved staying at this hotel. You can't beat the location although it is pretty chaotic because it's near Times Square. The rooms were very organized and clean. Everyone I've met at this hotel was very professional and nice. I think the windows are very well soundproofed. You just can't hear any outside noise although you will hear some people talking in the hallway. I understand why people were complaining about elevators, but luckily my family and I didn't have to wait too long at all. Understandable since it's a big hotel. I loved their breakfast. They offer everything! I like how staff are always staying to organize the crowd because if they weren't, it would be a complete chaos. Overall, I'd stay here again if I were to visit NYC again. The price is very affordable considering the condition and location.

This is a great location if you are touring the city! Turn right when leaving the building, and you are less than a block away from Times Square. The hotel and It’s rooms are nice and clean. Staff is courteous. Pretty good stay overall. We stayed here three nights for our birthdays. Check in was easy. The hotel held $50 per night on our card for incidentals. I did not see this mentioned on our reservation documents. However not a surprise to us because I travel a lot and I always expect this kind of charge from hotels in a big city. Everyone should. The lobby for the hotel has a café that sells alcohol, coffee and various small bites. if you want to sit in the hotel’s lobby and eat, you must purchase all food and drinks from their cafe. You can NOT bring any outside food into the hotel lobby or seating area. Someone is always watching, and will ask you to go to your room or leave. We were extremely surprised when it happened to us. It was raining, we had just picked up a meal and wanted to get a drink and relax in the lobby like we do in other hotels. As soon as we sat down we were told we could not sit inside or on the patio outside with food from any other place. It was a different concept, never seen anything like it but we respected it and went to our room. We paid $23 per person the night before and ate at the breakfast buffet the next morning. So, even though we had to wait, right at 7:45 the line to get on the breakfast elevator had about eight people in it. Once you get off the elevator in front of the restaurant, there’s another lot. One elevator designated for breakfast with a staff member guiding the line. One side of the buffet consisted of different types of sandwich meat, fruit, different types of breads and yogurt European style. The other side had sausages, potatoes, eggs, and other main items. The potatoes were soft and not crispy or crunchy. They reminded me of potatoes sitting too long in a warmer. The eggs had a liquid on them that reminded me of powdered eggs.

Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Hotel was safe, room keys required to use the elevators. Walking distance to theatre district and lots of great restaurants. Deducted 1 star due to: -Room temp was set at 80 degrees when we first got into our room. I understand the hotel wanting to save energy/money when there’s not a guest in the room, but that is too warm. -No ice machines. If you want ice you have to go to the cafe and ask for a cup of ice -Often took multiple tries for the elevator to scan the room key in order to be able to push the button for your floor. I witnessed multiple other guests have the same problem, so it’s doubtful that it was user error on my part or an issue specific to just my key. -Arrived early and didn’t at all plan on being able to check in early, was just going to leave my luggage there until check in time. They had a room ready, but wanted to charge me an extra $50 if I wanted to check in early.

If you want to start your day in good form and good mood don’t go here. I was pregnant at the time and needed regular food intake as much as enough sleep. Waiting in line for 30min and longer for breakfast is normal if you want to eat at a reasonable time, cause you had a late night, and not 7am. We went later around 9.45am one day and the stuff on the buffet was disgusting, frothy left overs was all we got, 10am on the spot the barriers were set up and one could not finish breakfast. They don’t care in there about complaints as most people only visit once. The waiting is calculated by them. Badly designed hotel with not enough elevators for the amount of people hosting. They sure know how to make people not visit again. On our last day way we were basically told it’s our own fault if we had to wait cause we came so late, that day we went down for 7.30, massive line, went to the room for a while, at 9am and we were placed at 9.30. Also we were told we could go to another hotel. If you went at 7am you had a lovely breakfast with great choice and fresh food.

Pros: the hotel is in great location near times square! Also next to any public transportation, and that's pretty convenient. Cons: the rooms are pretty small. We had the king's bed and a sofa bed and the king's bed is just not comfortable. Surprisingly the safe bed had better mattress. The shower head would barely have any water stream. In the mornings you need to wait at least 15 minutes for an elevator to arrive. We were 3 adults and needed maybe a couple of extra stools or anything to put our luggage on and were told we can't have anything else brought to the room. I'd give this hotel a 3.5. If you're looking only for hotel in a great location that could work for you, but if you'd also like to enjoy your stay inside the hotel and its amenities, I'd probably wouldn't recommend this as my first choice.

They make you go around in circles and take away your money. As all travel plans go, we had a last second flight cancellation in our group and we had to modify our reservation. They pushed everything on to their reservation department and asked us to wait. The entire reservation department on the other hand was conveniently on a holiday. We patiently waited till the reservation department was back, which was after our stay got completed. Once the reservation team was back they say "After evaluating your case, the relevant department has concluded that no refund can be processed, as the stay had to be in the room originally booked. We appreciate your understanding. Best regards, RIU Hotels & Resorts" We only stayed in that room because we were asked to wait. They could have even charged us for the first night and cancelled the rest of the stay but they did not even do that because their reservation department was not available during peak holiday period. The front desk managers are horrible people who literally don't care and they say it's not their problem. This hotel made us run around and ripped us off. We really got cheated by them.

I absolutely loved the decor of this hotel. It's also really conveniently located in Times Square near many attractions and subway lines. The rooms were also very comfortable if a bit small, and my request for a middle-to-high floor was fulfilled. However, the service could have been better. First, we were supposed to have water in our room waiting for us when we arrived, but they didn't bring it up, even after an hour after we checked in. Eventually, after we inquired about the water, we did get extra bottles. Second, they only gave us ONE washcloth at a time, even though the reservation was for two guests. Our second day, we needed more washcloths. We called the front desk for more, but they never came to our room. I had to track down a maid in the hallway for more. They do have a restaurant buffet with a lot of great breakfast foods. It's only open for breakfast, though. The other thing you need to know about this hotel is that when you get to your room, you MUST put your room card in the slot inside your door or else nothing, not even the outlets, will work. I would recommend this hotel to others, but be ready to track down the help staff for requests.

What a great experience for my son's first trip to NYC! The cleanliness and atmosphere of the property was excellent. Their customer service and professionalism was top notch. The hotel is less than a block away from the heart of Times Square. The rooms are very clean with modern design and amenities. For anyone who is looking for clean and comfortable place to stay with accessibility to the glitz and glam of NYC, this is the place for you.

Perfect location for Times Square. 150ft from the red steps. I read reviews for this hotel before visiting and was wondering if I was going to be disappointed, but our stay was amazing. Our room was on the 47th floor, and our view was breathtaking. The rooms were cleaned daily, and the hotel was clean and tidy. If you're going down for breakfast, I would suggest between 7-9 as this is the less busy period. The staff work very hard to clear tables and seat you and the system they have in place is very efficient. We never waited longer than a few minutes for a lift, and considering how close to time square we were, our rooms were very soundproof. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book to stay here again if we came to New york again. Don't listen to bad reviews. It couldn't be further from the truth.

Spent 6 nights with my family in a double queen room on the 27th floor and was very happy with our stay! As soon as you walk into the lobby, it has a pleasant clean smell with modern decor. The person who checked us in was very personable and was able to accommodate me with a request for a room with a view. Once we got to the room we were very happy with the condition of the room, which was bright, clean and modern. Our 2 queen beds were together which made it for a nice size bed! Other family members who were staying elsewhere came to our room and were also impressed with our hotel and room. We will definitely be coming back and I'm sure our family members will also be booking their future stays here.

Very standard amenities for the RIU brand. Very consistent if you’re a regular patron. Very little soundproofing between rooms. Definitely heard neighbor’s TV most of the night. Room did have connecting door but was not with my party. No view from room, other than alley. Was not able to take advantage of breakfast as departure was too early. Very convenient location to tourist area.

Very nice Hotel! Very clean and staff were all very friendly! Especially John one of the waiters for breakfast! He was very helpful and recommended great places to visit during our stay! However, the system to go down to the lobby to queue up for breakfast and then go in a lift to the 5th floor is horrendous. The setup for breakfast is very bad! I was in a party of 7 and it made it very stressful! However the food was lovely!

I give 5 stars as the hotel was overall fantastic and the location excellent if you want be close to Times Square and the main attractions in Midtown . The hotel is brand new. The rooms are quite large and soundproof, the beds extra comfy and the breakfast has a large choice of products of excellent quality. Staff is very nice and helpful but sometimes was transmitting some rush in the breakfast room which was stressful. The only not so positive note is the fact that all the group had to be present at the breakfast room in order to be allocated a table ( I guess to avoid people lingering for hours during breakfast ). If someone was delayed due to the lifts, you would not be seated even if only one out of eight were missing. I would expect this procedure more from a boarding school than from a 4-star-hotel.

Conveniently located about 100ft from Times Square and near the subway lines. Super clean hotel, which is always my priority when choosing so want to highlight that. Rooms felt newly renovated, although not sure they are. They may just be that clean! Decor very nice and the cafe downstairs has everything you need. We only got espresso here but the food we saw looked nice. Breakfast was very nice with a lot of food options. Highly recommend if you don’t need to spend a lot on a hotel and aren’t as interested in hotel amenities.

This hotel is in an amazing location. We walked out of the building and went 30 feet and there was Times Square. Every employee we encountered was beyond helpful and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean and we had plenty of linens. There was nothing bad about this experience. I would absolutely stay here again.

Everything was fantastic and the location was awesome. The only problem I had was with the bartender I think he was the manager. I ordered a couple drinks to take to my room. He gave me a hard time about wanting a glass not a plastic cup. He said no glass in the rooms but I watched people going to the rooms with glasses. I had already had one drink in my room and I brought the glass back. He was a jerk followed me to the elevator and demanded the glasses. I was so uncomfortable we had such a great weekend and he was the only down fall.

Wonderful location, just steps from Time Square! A few blocks away from several Broadway shows. Clean rooms with attentive staff if you need an extra pillow or more towels. Our included breakfast was a full buffet and very organized. Late check out available for a fee, but luggage story is complimentary in case you want to explore a little more before a late flight or train.

Great location. Rooms lovely and clean. Staff friendly enough although the check in could have been more welcoming with it being our first time. Love the fact it is so central and close to the main attractions. Lifts a bit more of a nightmare with waiting sometimes up to 5mins! Can be noisy when trying to sleep with neighbours slamming doors and no consideration to the time and ppl sleeping. Bit shocked by the tax bill upon check in. Breakfast is mediocre.

We booked Hotel Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square to stay 4 nights prior to a cruise sailing from NYC. The hotel was very close to Times Square and places to eat. You can catch the "Hop on/Hop off" bus at the end of the block. (You can purchase tickets on Groupon for a better price). The hotel is very clean. There are 2 different sets of elevators to that go to different level floors so you never have to wait very long for one. The check-in process was very smooth and quick. Great hotel.

This was our first trip to NYC and this hotel is perfect. The staff at the hotel are absolutely brilliant, always have a smile and happy to help. We had breakfast included in our booking which is managed so well. Never long to wait, food selection is great and tasted great too - I also have an egg allergy and the chef came out to explain what I can and can’t eat. The hotel is situated perfectly near to transport and to Times Square. The room was perfect for the two of us although if we were a family would feel a little cramped. Bed super comfy and I never sleep well in hotels generally so no complaints there, fridge worked, plenty of storage and shower was great.

From start to finish this hotel was amazing. Wonderful location right by Times Square red steps. Considering the location, rooms were lovely and quiet and the beds are fabulous, just what you need to sink into after a long day. Rooms were cleaned every day and towels replaced. Breakfast was delicious and even though we went at peak times the queue went down very quickly, the hotel had their breakfast system working immaculately with great communication. Breakfast was a great start to the day. The reception team were very friendly and assisted when they could. I will definitely return here for my next visit to NYC 🥰

Great hotel and fantastic location. Breakfast excellent , all staff helpful and friendly. Room modern, clean, lovely bathroom. Shower was fine but would have liked it to be a bit more powerful. Great stay, will stay again.

Superb stay last week, location was excellent - right in the heart of it but still quiet. Staff were very helpful and a credit to the hotel. Room as expected was small but practical and well presented. Breakfast quality was excellent; busy first thing but managed efficiently. Ideal base for exploring the city and would recommend for families

Great hotel in a perfect place to explore the city. It is central to everything. It was really manic when we checked in but staff were still friendly and accommodating. The rooms are small but for just the 2 of us and we were not inside for most of the day... It was perfect. The breakfast was extensive and catered for many tastes. Can get busy but we went early and beat the crowds so no problems.

Quite a nice stay here. Only things I'd pick up on - the room was very small - very little storage space, no kettle in the room to make tea/coffee and nowhere to get it downstairs and the queuing for breakfast was frustrating. Happy hour each day (which went for several hours was great), staff friendly and the food (other than what they think is pizza) was pretty good. You really need lessons on how to make a pizza.

Very nice and clean. Great breakfast choices! ALL employees were kind, friendly, and giving 100%. They did a great job controlling the flow of people. The beds were very comfortable. One block from Time Square

Excellent hotel, 2 minutes from Times Square. Room was nice & clean and the housekeeping staff were in daily. Breakfast was excellent but finished at 10 am & gets very busy after 9.00. Service can be slow in the bar area but overall staff are friendly & helpful. Would recommend

Never in my life have I experienced costumer service this bad. Really! Nice, new, clean hotel. Great location. But terrible customer service. As a European company,, if they are going to operate in the US they need to adapt (a little) to how things are done here. Instead, the hotel management has gone out of their way to force people to follow their system. So, the hotel is run by bureaucrats rather than designed around the needs and preferences of their guests. The result is long lines, elevators that don’t work (10 minute waits), etc. Also, arguments with staff over simple things… staff who were then empowered to be rude and disrespectful.

The hotel has a very cool artsy modern feel. The Rooms were clean and functional. Most hotel rooms in New York city are small and feel cramped. The layout and functionality of the rooms were very well done. There are tons of accommodations in and around the hotel. The Staff is welcoming and helpful.

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Time Square. Service was excellent and they gave us a high floor room as requested and chocolates on my birthday. The room looked very smart and had a great shower and comfy bed. The usb charging station was also a nice touch meaning that you don’t need to bring a plug adapter. The gym was also clean.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel for our very first trip to New York City. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was very quiet for sleeping. As others have said, the elevators are very, very busy, but during peak times they have stuff there to help and keep things moving smoothly. They do this very well. The only things I would change about this hotel are the following: the door to the bathroom is opaque glass and doesn’t feel very private. The other is the air freshener in the lobby. I understand the whole idea of a signature scent, but scents can be triggering for a lot of people. They are a migraine trigger for me, and it was bothersome. Thankfully the smell is confined to the main level and is not in the rooms or restaurant.

Good sized rooms, reception staff were mixed : some really helpful others not quite so but overall good. Breakfast staff fantastic and while there are queues for tables the staff sort it quickly at ensure that appropriate numbers of guests are put on each table and so move those who are for instance are a one or two but have ignored the queue and taken a table of five for themselves!! As a family of five we waited no more than five minutes at the busiest time of the morning. Breakfast is amazing with something for everyone and it's constantly refreshed. Tables cleaned really quickly and staff very friendly. Some of the reviews mention the queue for the lifts. We did have a bit of a wait but it wasn't massive but at breakfast you may be waiting a couple of minutes which isn't a massive issue. Hotel is only 100m from Times Square but still really quiet. Would definitely recommend this place.

My husband and I chose this hotel for our 45th Wedding Anniversary!! We stayed from May 26 to June 2, 2023. The rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. The Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is just a few steps from the Red Stairs at Times Square. It is a lovely hotel near everything. We walked everywhere from there. The elevators were quite busy in the morning and a bit tricky with the security card. We loved our stay in this Riu Hotel.

We loved our stay at the RIU Plaza Manhattan Times Square. The hotel is clean and well cared for with excellent, friendly and attentive staff. The beds were very comfy, rooms were air conditioned and a very good size and the location was excellent allowing us to walk everywhere from the hotel. Breakfast was also very high quality with plenty of options allowing for a different meal every morning! We would definitely stay again. Thank you!
