Mount Morris is quiet, beautiful, and immaculately clean. Even the stoop is lovely with blooming peonies. It’s very reasonably priced for NYC. Across the street is Mount Morris Park (Marcus Garvey Park), a pleasant little place for a walk. The decor is tasteful, the woodwork is restored, and the classic bathroom we had was nicely updated. The kitchen provided coffees, teas, granola bars, and homemade goodies. A block away from Lenox (Malcolm X Boulevard), it’s easy walk to neighborhood restaurants and transportation. Peter was warm and hospitable, sending us off with a box of his yummy chocolate chip cookies. We highly recommend Mount Morris House and will definitely come here again on our next visit to the city.

My partner and I stayed here last year and LOVED it! We are planning another trip to NYC next year and will bring our grown up children - we wouldn't stay anywhere else in NYC. Our apartment was lovely and quiet, the guys even kept the kitchen stocked with delicious homemade cakes and coffee! The bus uptown is literally out the front as is the beautiful Mount Morris Park. The neighborhood is quirky, safe and historically beautiful. Thanks Guys! Julia & Scott from Australia

After reading all the raving reviews on Trip Advisor, my wife and I decided to stay at the Mount Morris Guest House for our week long holiday in NYC. Let me just say that, not only did we make the right choice, the hospitality, warmth and kindness of our lovely and generous host Dimitri was the highlight of our special trip. The house is a gem, a piece of NYC history preserved by the owner, it helps that he is a professor/historian of art and architecture! The beautiful, spotless, spacious suite, Jade, couldn't have been more ideal for a most comfortable and peaceful sleep, from the heavenly queen bed dressed in luxurious, freshly ironed high quality linens and ample pillows just added to our comfort. There is a pantry stocked with coffee, different teas available anytime of day and night for our use, which was supper. We didn't want to leave. Also want to thank the supper lovely house keeper that had our room spotless everyday, not expected in a guest house at such reasonable rates! The neighborhood was such a pleasure and so convenient to all of Manhattan, There are several subway stops within a few blocks and only 10 minutes to Times Square. Breakfast was also a treat at cafe late, the local coffee shop around the corner and at about $5.00 for breakfast was a bargain. Do not miss the Red Rooster on Lenox, Chef Marcus Samuelsons famous Yard Bird and also check out the lounge on the lower level for some incredible live Jazz and blues music. Thank You and we will be back now that we have a home in NYC Peter and Melanie

What a pleasure it was to stay at Mount Morris House! Perfectly situated in Harlem, a little 15 minutes walk to Central Park, museums very quickly accessible and direct metro to wherever you want in NYC. And when you are tired of visiting you can enjoy and rest in this beautiful 19th century house perfectly renovated by Peter, Vasili and Dimitri with Asian, Persian and European antiques and paintings all over the place. Along with peaceful jazz music and fresh flowers, it is always calm and relaxing after walking all day long in the city. And I didn’t even mention the cakes (blueberry, my favorite) and cookies baked everyday by Peter for all guests. In summary, thank you Peter for all these attentions and for the pleasure you have talking and sharing about your house and your city. We had a wonderful time in Mount Morris and we sincerely hope we can meet again, in NYC or in France.

It was my first time in New York and in the states. The house was wonderful and full of charm, as was the host. Whilst it was very close to the subway and some great places to eat filled with local people rather than tourists like me, it was really quiet and I felt very safe coming back home every night. Dimitri was incredibly helpful with how to get around and what to do. We mastered the bus routes quickly and, because of its position, were able to travel across NewYork with ease. This is a fabulous place to stay if you want something non touristy and typical New York.

Beautiful bed and breakfast located in Harlem (North of Central Park on Manhattan for those who don't know NYC). The whole inside is very ornate. It reminded me of Downtain Abby. There is a large sitting area and dining area, as well as a kitchen where a continental breakfast is prepared by the owner every morning. The rooms have tall walls and large soft beds. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. I would recommend this place for anyone wishing to tour NYC.

Mount Morris House, a private brownstone residence in Harlem, was an absolute delight. Going through the front door was like stepping into a tranquil museum, with art pieces from all around the world. Elegant and eclectically decorated with perfect composition, perfectly clean--not a single cobweb, gentle jazz music playing... I could go on and on. My room was enormous, with a beautiful and comfortable four-poster bed, lovely carpets, a huge and glorious bathtub, tall ceilings--it was like stepping back in history, down to the lovely fireplace and decorative doorknobs. There were a great variety of teas (and other hot beverages) available in the kitchen, as well as fresh fruit, homemade cookies and cakes, instant oatmeal, and many candies and snacks. I was sorry not to have been able to meet the owner and get a tour of the art collection, but he was very kind and gracious over the phone when we spoke. This is not an affluent part of New York City, but everyone was very kind to me as I walked to and from the residence. There are subway stops and a train stop within walking distance, and Central Park is less than a mile's walk away. It was fun to meet some of the other guests, many of whom were from other parts of the world. I DEFINITELY will stay again if I have the opportunity.

I absolutely loved Mount Morris house - it is a haven of peace, elegance and antiquity. It is a home, a luxurious, otherworldly one, and not simply a guest house. Peter is a fabulous host and cannot do enough to make the stay comfortable and memorable. Spacious rooms, beautiful decorated, with fine furniture, comfortable bed, fantastic shower, home-baked cookies.
