Very unfriendly staff and PA did not listen to me and was disrespectful to me and kept saying "you are young stop worrying" despite all the medical emergencies I can possibly have. I felt like I was not being listened too, especially when I asked about long covid. I left here still in pain without a diagnosis. I later found out I had Rocky Mountain Fever and they did not check me for this here. The emergency call button (pictured before and after I asked them) is supposed to be on the bed, but was not. I asked the nurse if it is supposed to be on the bed she told me "yes but I was not here before when you got in the hospital, I just got here". They fixed it after I questioned them. Very dissatisfied.

My mother-in-law recently passed away in the care of this hospital's ICU. She was 99 years old and in failing health. Our entire family congregated in her room to help her ensure a comfortable and peaceful transition. Each and every nurse and doctor at this hospital were caring, attentive, understanding in a time when we were at our lowest. They brought us coffee, tea, cookies and more...mostly, they brought us compassion and care. We all feel strongly that we could not have asked for a better facility.

This hospital was once a place where you could depend on receiving the best in care. Times have certainly changed for the worst.

This is such an awesome hospital. I was there from 11/27 - 12/8/2023. I had been transferred by ambulance over to this hospital after spending a night in CPEP on 11/26 at the main Stonybrook hospital. The staff in 2 South are very nice, friendly, caring and helpful. They listened and cared for me when something was bothering me and they also accepted my special accommodations as well. The meals were very good including their pancakes, scrambled eggs, fish, meat and even their homemade personal pizzas. The snacks were very good as well. The recreation and therapy groups were very good as well. Thank goodness for the existence of psychiatric inpatient units as they take care of our mental health issues. I highly recommend this place for patient health care and others.

By the grace of God, I was transferred here a little over 2 years ago, coming from CPEP. It was a very positive experience personally! The staff was very supportive and helpful, they always filled up my water when I needed and were willing to listen to what I had to say. Wendy was extremely supportive and caring! She always gave me what I needed and was willing to chat a little as well! Stacy was helpful as well, as she helped me settle into the place, and kept my mind at ease! The overnight man Charles I believe? This man would check in on me every hour of the night!—Seeing if I was sleeping, and after he came in the third time, he knew exactly what I needed. Snacks were given as well, and they let me outside to feed the animals! It’s a beautiful hospital off the coast of the bay, and you have a great view from the physciatric ward. The hand of the Lord was on the people at this hospital!

My daughter had an unnecessary c section and the after care for her and my new grandchild was horrendous. Lazy nurses who ignored her requests for ice, breast pump and anything she needed. shortages of the most basic items seems to be the norm there. We were under the impression this was the best hospital on Long Island and that's why she chose it. Broken equipment and lazy nurses should never be allowed to deal with infants and recuperating mothers. There was no baby safety car seat check as well when she left. She just got the baby's birth certificate and first and middle name are spelled wrong as well as the time of birth. Absolutely incompetent people work there.

Went there with abdominal / groin pain and diagnosed with a hernia. Nursing staff was wonderful - caring and friendly. The chief of surgery came out and spent time speaking with me and I am going this week to schedule my surgery there. Since I am now a full time resident of the North Fork it is very comforting to know there is such a tremendous facility close by.

Website is misleading about vaccine availability, automated phone answering service doesn’t connect you to the correct departments. When trying to talk receptionist on the phone about the website stating they have vaccines, I was told they don’t which is understandable but tried to let her know that the website is misleading instead of letting me finish my sentence she got really snarky and said “we don’t have them. Goodbye.” And hung up. I understand they don’t have them, maybe if they listened they would understand they need to do some better organizing of their website/automated answering service.

It was awful. My Son was made to wait even when he was pre-approved for admission to detox. He sat in the hall for hours. It's a terrible place

When I was at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, the service was really great and everyone treated me with kindness and respect. I’d like to personally shout out Kenya, a nurse who was very easy to talk to and extremely patient. I feel comfortable recommending this hospital to anyone in the area.

I was very thankful and impressed with the efficiency and care I got in the ER at ELI on 11/28/23. The entire staff and particularly Dr. Mark Fenig were so caring and I am very grateful to them all. Thanks so much, Constantine Makris
