I LOVE the Cliffs @ LIC. Incredible variety of climbing for all styles and skill levels. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff, with excellent lessons (limited to class sizes of 4). Quality gym equipment both specialized for climbing and for proper lifts (deadlifts / squats). And above all, the patrons that frequent the Cliffs are lovely people. Friendly, open to sharing tips or hints when tackling a ‘problem’ (bouldering runs for those who are unfamiliar with the lingo). If you are seeking a climbing gym in the city, this is the way!!

The Cliffs LIC is a great all-around climbing gym. There’s plenty of bike parking out front and there’s even an indoor bike room right by the entrance when you walk in. There are locker rooms (don’t forget to bring a lock) that also have bathrooms and showers. After checking in (you’ll need to take a belay test if you don’t yet have a Cliffs belay certification card or take one of their classes to learn), you’ll be greeted by an IMMENSE top roping space. It’s literally jaw-dropping. I’ve never seen higher indoor climbing walls and there’s an incredible number of climbs. There are also about 8 auto-belay climbs on the left side of the facility. There’s a decent sized bouldering wall that has varying degrees of climbs, including a cave, and there’s also a small extra bouldering wall on the second floor. There’s a store on the first floor that sells all sorts of climbing gear. The second floor has a small weight lifting gym area and climbing finger board, and there’s also some elliptical and treadmill machines up on the second floor by the small extra bouldering wall. Overall, the Cliffs LIC is a sprawling facility with friendly staff and you’ll have a great climbing day if you ever stop by. I highly recommend.

A lot of fun and very challenging! It was my first time climbing so I don’t know more than what they told us at the checkin and intro. There are are several different levels and forms of climbing, it’s very impressive watching experienced climbers push themselves. We tried the beginner ones and spent about 2 hours climbing and taking breaks. We rented all the gear and used the liquid chalk dispensers placed around the gym. But if you go a few times within a month you’re better off getting a monthly membership. It was nice to see people of different ages and backgrounds focusing on themselves in the moment and reaching the top. It’s a very active environment and it’s encouraging to be around.

Relative to climbing gyms, this place is compact and crowded, but the young people , esp those in high schools who come after school, there have amazing skills and are truly a joy to watch!! The trails are difficult. I can only climb 6 of them…. glad to see there is auto belay.

Awesome gym. High sport climbing walls; the lead cave section was really nice. Bouldering here seemed much harder than what I'm used to. But all in all, fun none the less.

Super spacious with various options of climbing - auto-belay, bouldering etc. Clean, and pet friendly. They have student rates too - remember to bring a student ID. Staff varies in attitude but generally really nice.

I had a fantastic experience at this indoor climbing gym! It's incredibly beginner-friendly, offering first-class sessions to learn the basics. The spacious environment and laid-back, knowledgeable staff make it welcoming. Bonus points for being pet-friendly—service animals are allowed, and they even have hooks on benches for your furry friends. Highly recommended for a fun and inclusive climbing experience.

Love this gym: has bouldering (climbing with no ropes or harness), toprope, autobelays, and the best lead climbing cave that I've seen in NYC. Also has a nice workout area and cardio machines on the 2nd floor and a highline that looks to be about 30 feet high if you're into that sort of thing 👀
