As a lifelong Titanium Elite I was hoping this would be a 5 star stay at $1000/night but it fell short. The front desk wasn’t very helpful when I asked for a different room, & the sofa bed was broken and wouldn’t close so we couldn’t really enjoy the living room. Other than that the suites are spacious. The location is fun being right by Times Square. And the Living Room lounge is convenient for guests who don’t want to venture out for a drink. Cons There’s no private lounge and amenities for Elite guests. I don’t recall there being in-room dining. And like most NYC hotels don’t expect a pool or spa. It would also be nice to connect your Apple TV/HDMI but no luck. Overall a decent place to stay but it’s not the Plaza (see my Plaza review 😎). The W and Renaissance are pretty close and comparable (although the Renaissance R lounge has better food and a view overlooking Times Square).

Let’s start with the misleading information. I paid for a city view. What I got was a view of a wall. When I went to talk to someone about it they stated “well, that is a view of the city.” Then I paid for an up charge to get a different view. What a SCAM!!! The staff was very rude. No room service available. And what are the point of the doorman? They don’t hold doors they don’t get you a taxi they just stand there talking to each other. The room the disgusting. Holes in the flooring. Crumbs in the bed (not from us). The bed and chair felt as if they were 50 years old with no support. I could go one but you get the picture. When picking out my hotel it was between this one and another Marriott, we went to go visit it and just walking in the lobby alone I had wish we choose the other one. It look clean fresh. Doorman greeted us and opened the doors. Staff asked immediately if we needed anything. It felt homely. Do NOT stay here!!!

CONS: For a W hotel, this location is lacking. I have stayed here many times, but this round was most likely my last. If you like a cold room, do NOT stay here in the fall or winter. The room has no ac if it’s cold outside. And since it’s ’an old hotel’ as the staff put it, you have no option but to deal with the warm room and get a fan from the staff. Rooms are a bit dated. Windows only have blackouts, no other shade for example. Elevators are being serviced after 11, but during the rest of the day, they only have 1 of 3 operational. And most times the entry elevators smell like weed. (Not Ws fault, just an observation) PROS: The staff is always friendly which is why i have normally stayed here. Wi-Fi is solid and free for Marriott-Bonvoy members. Although in a touristy area, lots of food options nearby and a 1 min walk to time square.

Way too expensive for what you get. The room itself is a good size, however the bathrooms are tiny. The furniture and carpet seem right out of the 70’s. The light fixtures have horribly harsh lighting. It’s so bright and office-like, it’s almost impossible to enjoy the room at night. The mattresses are pretty hard but the pillows are nice. What bothered us the most is that you have to take one elevator up to the lobby, then switch to another elevator to get to your room. With one of the three elevators out of service, our wait time tended to be long. There is also no tea or coffee service anywhere in the hotel; not in your room or the lobby - not even in the lobby, “Living Room” bar. The only place to get coffee is the Mexican restaurant (two separate elevators away)attached to the hotel and their coffee was undrinkable! With all of the other hotel options in NYC, The W would not be on my short list. The staff, however, are super nice and very helpful!

Best things first. The staff is truly outstanding and fulfilled every wish we had. Lonny and lobby bar outstanding in terms of design and coolness. Cleaning was also very well. But the room is just to used. I wasn’t expecting that and expected clearly more for a hotel in that price category. Sorry. Would have given 5 stars for the rest but that’s not appropriate

Steps away from the heart of Time Square and walking distance to Hells Kitchen, Broadway, and Rockefeller Center. The hotel staff is extremely helpful and professional and, most importantly, CLEAN and comfortable rooms. Highly recommend if you want a great location to visit NYC. We were offered a bar drink voucher, which we unfortunately never used, but the lounge was nice to sit and relax, especially after a long day of walking, taking in the NYC sites.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. I was visiting NYC to see a number of Broadway shows, and this hotel us only a few blocks from the theaters I needed to get to. However, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. No drawers for my clothes, no mini-fridge or coffee maker - not even a decent comfortable chair to sit in. Instead, the room had a chaise lounge which looks cool but is not easy to get up from. I am planning another Broadway trip for the spring and I will be looking at a different hotel.

Thank you W New York. This location is excellent to have easy access to all the tourist spots while visiting. The theatre district is extremely close as well. For what I am sure was an extremely busy time with New Years, the staff were so friendly, informative and attentive. The rooms are very well equipped with everything you would imagine and more. Loved the high end toiletries, it really makes a difference to the comfort of a hotel stay. And the pillows and mattress were amazing.

Service was top notch, from the moment we got out of our Uber and were greeted by the bell men, to the front desk, everything was awesome!! From the time we started our stay, the very end of checking out... They were so great about holding our luggage until we had to leave for our flight home, very accommodating!!! Location, we were just steps from chaos of Times Square, very cool!!

As others have mentioned, this is a 2.5-star property on a good day. I travel a lot (twice a month in US and to Europe) and try to stay at Marriott properties, but this hotel is coming off my list. The staff is very good but the rooms are very, very basic and worn-out. (One of the hand-outs in the room indicated that, since I had a Do Not Disturb sign on my door, they weren't able to enter and "style" my room! It was such an incongruous idea that this poor room could be freshened-up!) The carpets and linens were old...but the bed itself was incredibly comfortable. Room Service was fast but very limited. There just wasn't anything about this property that made it special or different than any Motel 6, and I am NOT a picky traveler! In my opinion, even the Marriott Marquis Times Square is superior to this property.

I’ll talk about the hotel first and then, who should really book here; It is an amazing hotel. Luxurious, upscale, well maintained, with professional, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are comfortable with great amenities. So hotel itself is 10/10. Now, who should stay here; If you’d like to party late, want to stay outside and/or like the busy vibe, this place is definitely for you. If you’re taking care of business nearby within walking distance, this hotel is for you. If you’re looking for a cozy and quiet get away and can’t sleep if it’s busy outside, you should probably look elsewhere.

Stayed here recently on a 4 night trip to NYC. All hotel staff were friendly and helpful, from the luggage handlers to front desk and the bartenders. Entire place had a very modern vibe. First entrance was a bit confusing but you just have to enter the elevators from the ground floor waterfall lobby and go up to Welcome on 7th. Double elevator system and hotel staff presence made the stay feel safe. Perfect place to call home base while exploring the city!

The location is perfect. The amenities are great, the staff excellent. We loved the Living Room bar, perfect for drinks. Also, the Blue Fin restaurant downstairs was excellent. Our room was in front of the elevators, and the layout wasn't conducive to having peace and quiet. The hotel is pet friendly, unfortunately not designated to one specific floor. You hear them barking

As a loyal customer of the W brand, having visited numerous locations across Asia and Europe, I approached the W Times Square with high expectations. Unfortunately, my experience fell well below the standard I’ve come to associate with W hotels. Firstly, I was surprised to find that there was no breakfast option available. This is a basic offering I’ve come to expect, particularly from a hotel of this caliber. Additionally, the service did not meet the high standards I’ve experienced at other W locations. The staff seemed less service-oriented, and the long queues at the check-in desk were a clear indicator of operational inefficiencies. The condition of the rooms was another major letdown. The rooms felt very used and in dire need of a facelift. It seemed as though attention to maintaining the hotel’s aesthetics and comfort has been neglected. Most concerning was the safety issue we encountered. The bathroom vanity sink stand had razor-sharp feet, which is an unacceptable hazard. This resulted in a serious injury where my wife hurt her feet and experienced significant bleeding. This incident alone significantly marred our stay and raised concerns about the overall safety and maintenance of the hotel facilities. In light of these experiences, I regret to say that I would not choose to stay at the W Times Square again. It is disappointing to see such a stark contrast in quality and service compared to the W hotels in Asia and Europe, and I hope that these issues will be addressed for the sake of future guests.

Our experience at W Hotel Times Square was beyond excellent. Everyone at the concierge were polite and helpful. Adam was extraordinary. He continuously acknowledged us and asked how everything was going. All the staff made us feel special and went out of their way to help us with our stay. We will be planning another NYC stay from AZ and the W Times Square will be our only hotel choice. Thank you W Times Square for making our NYC stay memorable!

Marriott Marquis was not available on the week I booked, but I was able to get this W hotel. Booked on the company travel portal and it was about $1713 for 3 nights, but it ended up being about $2000 charged in person. I liked that the hotel sat right on Times Square, lobby had decent water feature at entry, and room was decent enough on the stay. Odd to have 2 different elevators (1 to lobby, 1 to higher floor), though the small footprint makes it easy to get to the rooms up above Pros - The view from floor 29+ facing Times Square is pretty cool - AC and heater both work - The resort fee is usable, like $25 a night towards the bar, tickets to Liberty Cruise - Concierge responded to requests for water bottles, shampoos, brush, etc - Subway entry and city life...is literally right there if you want to experience it Cons - Was surprised about the $300 delta between booking online and arriving in person - No dedicated refrigerator, and there would be an extra charge to bring one. I called the help desk though, and they said I could temporarily empty the fridge of the beers and put them back - If you're not used to city life, you'll notice the subway running below, and the cheers from Times Square

As soon as I checked in, I knew it was going to be a great stay. Guest services staff were courteous and so friendly. Check in was quick and efficient. Room was clean and provided a great view of Times Square. Had a great cocktail at the bar before heading out for dinner. Check out was noon allowing time to have breakfast and retrieve our items from the room when we were ready for the quick and easy check out, again with a friendly smile and a thank you. Location was excellent. Highly recommend and would stay here again.

Cheryl the overnight manager must be the most rude customer service person I have come across in all my travels. Absolutely unbelievable. Arrogant. Obnoxious. I only asked why couldn’t someone tell me when my dominoes arrived and she busts out with how busy she is and how it’s hotel procedure to leave it there. I asked her for a call perhaps? How dare I suggest such a thing. Not looking for a delivery to the room just a call. Nope. This lady certainly knows it all and is much better than her guests. Thank goodness she’s on nights and has minimal contact with guests. Never seen her on the front desk. Keep her in the back office.

Title: Disappointing Front Desk Experience at the W in Times Square Review:I recently had the opportunity to stay at the W in Times Square, and while the overall experience was pleasant, I must express my disappointment with the front desk customer service. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a lackluster welcome and minimal assistance. The staff seemed disinterested and failed to provide the warm and friendly service that I had expected from a renowned hotel like the W. It was evident that they were more focused on completing their tasks rather than ensuring a positive guest experience. Furthermore, when I had questions or needed assistance, the front desk staff appeared impatient and unhelpful. They did not go the extra mile to address my concerns or provide me with the information I needed. This lack of attentiveness left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a guest. In addition, the check-in process was slow and inefficient. Despite having made a reservation in advance, I had to wait for an extended period before being attended to. This delay was not only inconvenient but also indicative of the poor management of the front desk operations. While I understand that hotels can experience busy periods, it is essential for the front desk staff to handle such situations with professionalism and efficiency. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my stay at the W in Times Square. As a frequent traveler, I have come to appreciate exceptional customer service, which was regrettably lacking during my stay. The front desk staff’s attitude and lack of attentiveness left a lasting negative impression, overshadowing the otherwise enjoyable aspects of my visit. I sincerely hope that the management of the W in Times Square takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure that future guests receive the exceptional service they deserve. Despite my disappointment with the front desk customer service, I must acknowledge that the hotel’s amenities and location are still noteworthy. However, it is crucial for the W to address the issues I have highlighted to maintain its reputation as a top-tier hotel. In conclusion, while the W in Times Square offers a stylish and comfortable stay, the poor front desk customer service significantly detracted from my overall experience. I sincerely hope that the hotel takes steps to rectify these issues and provide a more welcoming and attentive front desk experience for future guests.

Just spend two nights at this hotel. Here are some pros and cons: Pros: The location of this hotel is unbeatable. It’s right at the Time Square. The room is surprisingly spacious, much larger than some other hotels I previously stayed in the city. It has a nice lounge chair by the window. The toiletries are labeled from an Italian spa which smell super decent. The front desk staff were nice and friendly. Cons: the sound proof was poor. All the sounds from the streets, the loud music, the people yelling, the sirens wailing, were heard clearly even at my room at 22nd floor at 2 or 3 am. The lighting design was also poor. There were two lamps, one on the desk, on floor lamp by the window, all had harsh LED lights. They did not provide a warm cozy hotel feeling. Instead, feels like a office light. Will I stay again at this hotel? Probably. But definitely not my first choose.

Redecorating the lobby and adding a bar does not make a run down hotel a W. But here they tried. This is the worst W hotel I have stayed in, and I’ve been in at least 15 worldwide. Run down rooms, dirty toilet, no walk in shower, bath tub defect, heater smells like burned chicken. As a kicker the room service has returned as they still seem to operate under COVID staffing….. This seems like someone took over an old hotel and managed to get Marriott to bless this property with the W brand, after minimal changes to look like a W from afar. The staff is really friendly, but that doesn’t make up for the lack of luxury you expect from this brand.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! I paid $430 and this is my “city view” with lots of dirty spots in the bathroom areas and some sort of rapper on the floor (room 1208). The machines next to our rooms are extremely loud. They also clearly don’t clean the rooms properly. Their photos are very deceiving on their website and it doesn’t state anywhere that you may be placed in a room next to their generators / huge machines! This is certainly not what I was expecting. They also see you as a “category”. They’re basically only nice based on the room you reserved. Absolutely disgusted on their practice. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel! SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!

Nice hotel with great location right there in Times Square. Friendly and accommodating staff. The living room bar is a great place to grab a drink before going out for dinner.

Worst hotel Marriott owns. Overpriced, dated, dirty, and drinks and food service and quality is less than third world. Seriously. Marriott should close this place down. Booked a corner room overlooking Times Square with windows you could not see out of because they were so dirty. I took pictures in case Marriott is interested- but their not, because all they said was - were sorry for your inconvenience- what? This was my honeymoon- they ruined it. If you would like the same experience- please book a room for your honeymoon.

We stay at the W Hotel anywhere we go for the most part but especially when we come to New York. The staff is always professional and friendly. Rooms are clean and quiet. It’s in the perfect location if you are staying in Times Square!

First let me say we received the best customer service upon arrival. Nicholas checked us in and was very patient and helpful because we had a slight issue on our end with the reservation. I appreciated the effort and extra mile taken to make us feel taken care of. We were also able to check in early and received a room with a great view. Adam was very accommodating during our stay. Every time he saw us he asked if we needed anything or if everything was great! The common areas of the hotel provide beautiful ambiance and overall the staff was great. The actual hotel room was clean but I do think it needs a little updating. Overall it was a good stay.

Spent last 4 days at the hotel. Was having high expectation due to the brand name, but was fairly disappointed. Certainly the location is great, and I will give it a 5-star for the location , as it is at the centre of Times Square and easily accessible to all amenities, and few metro stations. The condition of room is average, and need some proper maintenance for its toilet. The wired rack looks good but not really functional, as I can’t place my toiletries properly on it. perhaps a 3-star for this segment. As for service standard, I will give it a 3-star also. While the front desk people as “generally” friendly due to their job requirement, some are a bit snobbish. I was upset that I wasn’t brief on a daily $25 drinks vouchers at the bar, daily free gym passes and free coupons to Modern Art museum. Only found out when I am about to check-out. Will be returning to the same hotel on 31 March, will test the front desk if they will brief me on these.

It is good for location and some of the staff are great. But the rooms have no hooks for you to hang anything, there’s no real benefit to having Titanium status bc you don’t get what you’ve paid for… Then again it is NYC and everything is ridiculously priced as we well know. You get some deals like 25$ voucher/day at the bar, 2tickets to the Guggenheim Museum BUT they don’t tell everyone this. It’s hit or miss. When I was checking out the manage was dealing with two customers who were never informed of the deals. But they charge you a 25$ destination fee for it!! I don’t think we will ever stay here again. The Marriott Marquis is WAY better!

Remember to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking a resort. This web site will compare thousands of booking websites and normally will have rooms a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later on! Prior to coming to New York, I had read many reviews about the hotel. I can say that I am very glad that I didn’t pay much attention to the negative press. The hotel was everything that I needed. The location was perfect. The amenities were great. The room was a nice size and clean. On top of that, I was given an upgrade.

This is the most overpriced hotel that is no better then a motel. Room was not totally cleaned. Coffee supplies not full. They are a conference hotel that's about it. At 300 a night I think everyone would like a continental style breakfast. Again for 300 a night. There was a noise clicking all night both nights from HVAC system. We stay in hotels all over and this was no different then a motel on WY somewhere. Sad

Stayed here 3 nights and the times square views are pretty cool, but there is a major problem. There is not a single restaurant in the hotel. Consequently, had to order takeout multiple times that take a while to come. I asked for the location of a microwave to warm our food. I was told that in this entire sprawling 57 floor hotel New York City Times Square hotel, there is not a single microwave for guest use. Come again? This is an alleged high-end establishment where you charge over $400 night for basic rooms. You don’t provide food and then guests have nothing to warm their take out? It’s unacceptable. Goes to show you that every hotel experience is based on management and/or ownership, not the brand. I’d suggest going to the Fairfield if you’re brave, they will at least “feed you” and can provide a microwave just in case.

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your place. They compare countless hotel sites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of my favorites in the area. I have been staying here for years. If you choose this place you won't regret it. This hotel is absolutely AMAZING! Everything about our stay was PERFECT! We arrived in the city early and was able to check in right away, always a plus if available, if not they do hold your luggage. The concierge, JERMAINE, that helped us throughout our stay made our time in the city very special. He helped us with finding local amenities, eateries, etc. He was super nice and enthusiastic not only about the hotel but also about the city, really got us excited for our time there! The Welcome Ambassador ADAM was also very kind throughout our stay, said hi everyday, asked us how our stay was going each time we saw him. All of the staff really go above and beyond for the guests as I saw them do for other guests as well, the bellmen, the desk agents, the baristas, the housekeeping staff all had smiles and were constantly asking guests how their time there was going and going out of their way to make sure guests were being taken care of. Also the lobby/bar, restaurants and rooms are all very modern and really fit the vibe of the location (yes they do match the photos & descriptions online). Location 10/10. If staying in the city I recommend the W for WONDERFUL stay!

The service was amazing! From the time we pulled up at the entrance we were greeted by Marcel and he loaded our luggage and escorted us to the desk. Another gentleman escorted us to our room as well. The room was great as well! Clean, nicely arranged. The view however was subpar. I paid for Times Square view but all we could see was the other hotel across the street. We chose the W for a nice view but did not get what we expected. For that, I would give it 3 stars. The Sheraton on 53rd looks like it has nice views

Stayed here a few years back for Halloween I enjoyed how convenient it was to the restaurants, bars, and clubs. The staff was great but the price was overpriced in my opinion. The room was standard with simple amenities. I did enjoy the restaurant in the hotel it was nicely themed.

Great service, location, atmosphere, i honestly felt at home with the awesome friendly staff ♡ thank you will visit again soon. (UPDATE) Visited again in February i wish there wasn't that daily $25 fee , because i didn't get the chance to use their vouchers both times was out of the hotel most of the time, pillows seemed worn out not like the same pillows i got in December, also the coffee pods were not good , in December the W was using Starbucks pods they were great!! don't know why they stopped using them. Regardless I'll still give this hotel a 5 star for the service, staff, location, living room lounge n bar are literally perfect . The hotel & rooms always smell great super clean ...

We highly appreciate everyone we encountered.

Excellent location directly in the theatre district for easy access to Broadway shows and all that Times Square has to offer. Nice updated rooms and lounge area. One note - the “queen” beds felt more like a double and didn’t really accommodate two normal sized adults comfortably. Over all a good stay.

Top location, excellent staff, amazing suite and beautiful bar. Loved this hotel. I had room on 33rd floor. Loved the view from window. I am rating 4 only because I think breakfast should be included for this price. No tea/coffee in the room which you will get even in cheapest hotel’s.

I’d give the location 10 stars if I could! It’s right in the middle of the theatre district, 20 steps or so from the giant Coca-cola sign in Time Square, and several delis and food shops on the block. Super friendly staff who went above and beyond to accommodate us. They had our requested crib already in the room when we arrived. Gave our kids nice branded gifts, and called us as soon as we were able to access a room for early check in. Highly recommend!

So, I think the rooms have seen better days however the bed was comfy, the crisp white bedding felt fresh and the towels were plentiful. The c/s was amazing; I loved the staff at the front desk. They were all lovely & accommodating. One bit to keep in mind, if you are facing Times Square at all, the noise is pretty loud until 2-3 am. Overall, a nice stay for our long weekend in NYC.

Great location on Times Square! Impeccable staff. They were beyond helpful and friendly! Front desk check in was seamless! The hotel is beautiful from the entrance to the rooms. I really loved the decor! By far beats the old style decor in some of the other hotels in Manhattan.

I Thoroughly Enjoyed my entire 4 days/3 nights stay here at the W Times Square! You can Trust and Believe I will be staying at this hotel once again upon my next visit to NYC! Soon too....From the time I checked in with Desk Clerk W Representative - Oscar D. whom was very Customer Service oriented, Courteous & Friendly providing exceptional accommodations and advice on the What/Where/Who's of the Hotel amenities. Thank you Oscar D. for welcoming me Big Time at W Times Square and the Big Apple. I sincerely hope your superiors appreciate you as much as I Do as a patron of the Marriott brand! I'm a Bonvoy member! Two Thumbs Up!!!

The location is perfect for tourists. You are close to plenty of dining, attractions, etc. The lobby is quite lovely and the bar was nice with great drinks. The room was spacious and clean but could use some updates. The bathroom was tiny. The view from my room on the 53rd floor was so nice! I would probably choose a hotel away from Times Square on my next visit but you should stay in the area at least once (first visit to the city). It’s a noisy area and if I hadn’t been exhausted every night it would have been difficult to get to sleep.

Beware beware beware!!!!!!! If you don't want to be ripped off by a hotel then stay as far away as possible. After travelling 50+ hours my wife and I checked in and were looking forward to out trip. After a few days I noticed money was being taken from my bank card by the hotel. I then spoke to reception and they advised it was a "destination fee" nothing that was disclosed to me upon reservation or check in. I then tried to dispute this with reception who were rude and dismissive. They then provided me with the managers Eric's details, he also dismissed my complaint and was unable to resolve the issue. There are plenty of other nice hotels in the area which hopefully run business honestly, unlike the W hotel and its staff.

I had a wonderful experience at the W Hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I decided to pay the $100 fee to valet my vehicle since my wife and I were staying for two nights. I was told to call 45 minutes in advance to have my vehicle dropped off to the front of the hotel. I did call the desk at 3:15am and checked out of our room by 4:00am. Once we were downstairs waiting on the car I was told that it was on its way to the hotel. We waited for another 20 mins until I asked for an eta on its arrival. I then told that the outside vendor who kept the care wasn’t aware that a call came in at 3:15am. At this point I was very upset and was told by a W hotel employee that because of there mistake that I wouldn’t be charged the $100 for my convenience. The car finally came at 4:50am. The person who brought it was very rude and I was still charged the $100 fee. I would suggest not to use the W hotel’s valet due to the bad experience we had with them!
