$38 for One Drink?!!! We stopped by after dinner for a quick cocktail, put our names in with 2 parties ahead of us and got the call back after an hour. When we were let in we were told that we were allowed to stand only, no seats were open. The two of us stood at the bar and my husband ordered one drink for himself, which he drank standing up (I didn't order anything). It's true there's no menu, and we had been expecting a customized drink experience with the bartender asking about tastes etc to craft something unique for each patron. Instead, the experience is more that the bartender asks, "What do you want to drink?" and then makes what you request. My husband rated his drink as "Okay, not great" and we didn't feel like standing around for longer, so we asked for the bill... $38. $38 for the single drink that you see in the photo, a fruity tequila-based cocktail. There's no menu so they can charge what they wish but $38 for a single cocktail made us glad we didn't order a second drink. We can say we came here now, but for a much better ambience I'd skip this place and go to Katana Kitten in Greenwich Village.

#22 World’s best bar (2023) (Look up World’s 50 Best Bars Ranking - I’m traveling around the world to try them btw) Atmosphere 8/10 Cool speakeasy. Room layout is pretty tight and “lengthy”. Not spacious at all. But cool vibe Drinks 9.5/10 This place has NO MENU. Every drink is unique and the bartender asks for the base and your preferences. Amazing concept! Service 10/10 As expected, custom drinks were amazing! Price 6/10 Decent prices. Around $20 - but they are custom made Overall, i think the bar fully deserves

Visiting this bar was truly a remarkable experience. I've been to several cocktail bars all over the world, and the strategy of having no fixed menu doesn't always work out. This is not the case with Attaboy: the staff were excellent at providing recommendations, cocktails were perfectly balanced, and the music was just at the right volume. I am a big fan of spirit-forward, bitter drinks and I had three of them! Each one better than the last. Definitely on my top 5 in NYC.

Very cool experience - the concept is no menu, bespoke cocktails. Figure out what mood you’re in, what spirits you like, how you want it served (on the rocks, up, etc.) and they’ll create a cocktail for you and tell you what it is. Small place though, maybe 3 booths and then bar seating. Probably 25-30 people total. Recommend getting here early, right when they open, especially if you’re a group of more than 2. Speak easy vibes. You just kinda stand and wait outside until someone comes out to get you haha. No need to knock. This was a cool spot. Only downside - no menu means no prices. Cocktails came out to be $28 each after tax and tip which is…steep to say the least. Worth it for a one night experience though.

We make it a point to come here each time we are in NYC ! It's been a few years now but still was as good as I remember. The bartenders are always friendly, and welcome ideas as to what type of drink you would like. My favorite this visit were the tiki drinks, but they can make just about anything you dream up! The space is small, so plan to wait for a while. We put our name in, and wait at another local until there's a spot available. Can't wait until next time.

I got to try attaboys great cocktails!!! I love the concept of you tell the bartenders what you like and what you don't and they come out with perfect concoction. The room is tight and cozy. Definitely coming back. Make sure to reserve a table or try to go on a non busy day for walk-in. Tha k you for an awesome experience.

This was a pretty cool bar. You gotta get there right when it opens or it'll be a wait. Even though it's a small place you can still have fun and be comfortable ☺ They don't have menus. The amazing bartender will make you tasty (and strong) drinks based on what your like and flavo profiles. If I am ever in the area, I'd go back for sure.

One of the authentic feel speakeasies.. the door used to be harder to find which is the only downside but the service and experience was so good! No cocktail menu.. they just make what you like and make it for you! Everyone in our group liked different things and all the cocktails were insane! Slightly on the expensive side but 100% worth it as a treat! We went on a Sunday and got a table for 4 straight away.. would probably book ahead if you can as its small!

Wow! We were just wowed by this place! I think the max they allow is a party of 4 since we didn’t see a table that could seat more than that. It’s a small place. Get in line when they open and put your name on the list if you can’t get it. They are very prompt with calling you if you are on the list and be in the area if possible. It might take a few hrs to get the call but once you get in, it’s totally worth it! The vibe, concept and the drink are amazing!

I’m conflicted with this place. I have respect for the owner, Sam Ross as a bartender. I love the history of this place and the reputation that this place exudes, but this is the time where the logistics/circumstances actually detracted from the overall experience. Granted, it’s a Saturday night - busy as hell! I knew that and was willing to wait on the waiting list, which ended up being 2 hours (6:40 - 8:40) approximately. Just stayed nearby the area and eagerly waited for a call. Once we got the call, we were told that we would stand in the hallway until a spot at the bar opens up. At this point we felt defeated, but whatever, we made it. The bartender asked us about our preferences and made a Gentleman’s Buck and Troublemaker. Both very on point with the flavors I described and both well made. I do applaud the bartender on the execution. We both enjoyed the drinks for about 1/3 of the Collins glass. The issue is that while drinking a cocktail, we were still standing in the middle of a hallway. Music and sounds were loud. People walking back and forth. At one point, my garnish fell and I was focused on when to bend over to pick it up and debated whether to leave it because people were constantly walking back and forth, which didn’t give me the pocket of time to actually pick it up (I managed and threw it away). So, for me, cocktails are meant to be enjoyed at a good pace and with company in a nice atmosphere. The atmosphere would be nice if it wasn’t so packed and the company would be nice if I could actual have a conversation face to face with the person I was with. Unfortunately, being in the hallway didn’t afford that luxury. In the end, I rushed to finished the drink, paid, and left. Glad I got the experience to support a mixologist that I look up to, but not an experience I would do again.

Fantastic no menu speakeasy that lives up to the hype! We got there 10 minutes before it opened on a Saturday but ended up on the waitlist. We finally got to go in about an hour and a half later, but it was well worth the wait. There is no menu, so the bartenders will ask you what kind of drinks you like/what kind of drink you want and will come up with something matching what you ask for. They were spot on with all the drinks we ordered, and they all turned out great. The bar was crowded and we had to stand for a while, but the drinks were worth it. Here’s what we ordered and what they made: Honey and whiskey -> Cointreau chartereuse four roses bourbon honey (“The Stark”) Light with absinthe -> egg absinthe gin elderflower (“sunflower”) Light and playful -> almond tequila lime passionfruit (“inner child”) Mezcal and whiskey -> mezcal whiskey pineapple (“bow and arrow”)

Real speakeasy, custom drinks, unique experience. The staff (bartenders and hostess) were welcoming and seemed cool. The average for 2 rounds of cocktails was 22 (w/out tips and tax). We went 10 minutes before opening on a Monday and it had already a line.

Attaboy truly deserves all the hype and awards it has earned (and possibly even the price tag). Getting a spot here is tough, the first time we tried, we had to put our number down as they only call back not text but we eventually bailed. This time around we went early and were lucky enough to get a booth table near opening without waiting. The interior gives classic speakeasy vibes with dark lighting and a prominent bar wall of various bottles. Ordering here is an experience itself, instead of a menu you describe the type of drink and liquor you want and the staff does the rest. Because of this everyone in our group loved their drinks. Everything was spot on and tasted delicious. If we had more time we would have stayed longer and ordered more rounds. A must see in NYC!

Came here after seeing this place featured on top 50 best bars in the world. They do not accept reservations, just first come first serve. We went on a Tuesday night and got in relatively quickly. The premise is: no set cocktails menu. The drinks are based on one’s preference of liquor/base and flavor profile. This is a concept that is actually common in most cocktail bars. While the drinks were good, they were nothing memorable and did not stand out. Definitely not worth the hype nor the price. Save your time and do not wait in long lines.

All these 1 star reviews are from huffy tourists who are mad they have to wait for one of the best bars in the world. Once you’re inside the bartenders are amazing! Truly world class. But yes you will have to plan ahead and yes wait for a bit. Because yes. This is the best bar you will find. Had 3 of the best cocktails in a row I’ve ever had. Thank you all!

This is definitely one of the best cocktail bars I know, and I have been to many of them, all over the world. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not for you, but the atmosphere is great and they know their craft. Classic cocktails are great here and I'm sure their signature cocktails are too. Just mind that there can be a long wait on busy days, which is almost everyday.

We loved it - from the intimate ambience of a speakeasy to the drinks customised perfectly to our taste, it was a great experience! The bartender asked us for our alcohol and flavour preferences, and then stirred up some refreshing cocktails. Attaboy exceeded our already high expectations. :)

Attaboy was an overall fun and delicious experience, though my party’s expectation was that this bar would be a bit more bespoke per its reputation. We arrived promptly at 5pm and waited in line for about 15 minutes before being sat at what I personally think is the best seat in the house - the alcove area by the front window. The service was outstanding and attentive. You tell your guide what alcohol, vibe, flavor profile, etc. you’re in the mood for and they bring you their creative interpretation. We learned they actually have a menu they draw from rather than extemporaneous cocktail creation (though I imagine this does happen from time to time 🤷🏻‍♀️.) All cocktails are $22 USD.

We had an enjoyable time at Attaboy. It was fun to have to “knock on the door to enter”. We had about a 30 minute wait which was even fun since we got to meet a few other people waiting in line. Everyone was friendly and helpful. There is no menu of cocktails here. Just share what you like with the server and they will create something for you. Our server did a great job with the drinks for all in our group and everyone was very happy. The drinks are a bit pricey coming in at $18/drink but they are potent.

For sure one of the best cocktails bars I’ve ever attended. The experience was amazing, the bartenders really nice but a little bit overpriced. The fact of not having a menu I really like it it makes you interact in a nice way with the bartender and challenge yourself. I strongly recommend the penicillin

Cute speakeasy with tasty cocktails - you tell the bartenders what kind of drinks/liquor you like and they make you a cocktail. Attaboy didn’t quite live up to all of the hype, I was a bit underwhelmed. I would recommend to arrive when the bar opens or you will have to wait for a while to get in.

Probably my personal favorite bar in NYC. The vibe here is super chill, the bartender would come to your table and ask about your preference, and make a custom cocktail for you. Of course, if you know any classic cocktails you want to try, just tell them what you want and you will not regret. As for something in general best for their drinks, I would recommend something fruity, either light or heavy on alcohol. The first time I ordered something with Whiskey but fruity, they gave me the Gold Rush and it was fantastic. Maybe it’s because of winter, they added strawberries in the Gold rush, which is really smooth and awesome. For classic cocktails, I would especially recommend their Sidecar and Penicillin. Their sidecar has a strong fragrance of Brandy and citrus. It is strong but not overwhelming. Probably one of the best sidecar I’ve ever had. Their Penicillin is really outstanding as well. The peated whiskey itself is strong, but honey within it makes it really smooth and easy to drink. If you really hate peated whiskey or ginger, I would say you can pass this. Otherwise definitely give it a try! The only thing is that it is super popular. It is normal that if you come at 10:00 and you need to wait to 1:30 to get seated. You don’t have to stay to wait, but you need to arrive within 15 mins when they call you. I would recommend come here EARLYYYYYY and get seated earlier. Definitely a recommended bar in NYC!

A wonderful cocktail experience. The lack of a printed menu and the tailoring of each round to your tastes is one of the best innovations in cocktails. The bartenders all have a deep mental library of recipes and can not only find a great drink for you but explain its history and influences. A wonderful time.

What an amazing cocktail bar. Just describe the mood you are in and the base alcohol and they will find you the perfect match. It would be even better if there would not have been such a long wait but hey that's probably because they are really good!

  • 5/5 Khoi P. 10 months ago on Google
What a vibe. Dimly lit and intimate spot for custom cocktails. Describe whatever you're feeling and let the bartenders take charge of preparing a good drink for you. Really enjoyed the experience. Logistically, the earlier the better to maximize your chances of getting in.

Waited for more than 1 hour. Fancy and unique drinks and service from the bartender, told them what you like and they would create special drink for you, no food service. Waiting in front of the entrance is strictly not allowed

  • 5/5 David S. 1 year ago on Google
Low key speakeasy inside but with delicious cocktails made to your taste preference (they ask you about preferred liquors, ingredients, etc). Wait can be super long and I wouldn’t even try to go there with more than 4 people. Still prefer this over month long wait lists!

  • 5/5 Emily 9 months ago on Google
Attaboy was delicious but the food and drinks were very expensive for small portions- I think there is better Korean food at much more reasonable price points in NYC. That being said, the cocktails were excellent. We also loved the beef tartare, sunchokes and fried chicken.

It’s a normal street and a normal looking steel door… except for the long line of people, you wouldn’t know that there’s a bar in there where they don’t have a menu. Instead they have a conversation with you about your preferences then they bring something out that tastes delicious; exactly what you wanted (and more)!

Tbh have no idea what ended up in my drink but it was delicious. All staff was very friendly. Entire vibe and music is great. Love that it’s a bit tucked away.

My favorite bar in the city. Extremely small so be prepared to kill time after putting your name down, but worth the wait in every way. Every drink is custom made for you and 10/10. Pricey, but worth it!

  • 5/5 Jason L. 2 years ago on Google
very intricately designed, an intimate bar with a curated ordering process. You are well taken care of by the bartender and host, their alcohol knowledge really shines through. Watching the bartender prepare the drinks was a real treat, the hand cut ice is always fun to watch! I went for a nightcap and ended up with two drinks, definitely an alluring spot. This bar really knows their stuff 🔥

Always get packed easily so be prepared to wait. Bartenders are experienced. Tell them whatever you want and they’ll surprise you. No menu needed. Coming here is never a wrong answer.
