The room was nice, the only downside was that the walls were so thin we could hear the people in the room next to us. Our room neighbor was a group of women and they got back to their room at midnight and chatted and laughed until 2am, which is completely fine except for the fact that we heard everything and were trying to sleep. The elevators were tiny and narrow and would comfortably fit 2 people with bags. The lobby was dark and had zero activities (no bar, no food, etc.).

I visit NYC multiple times a year for work and pleasure. Glad I found this hidden gem near some of my favorite City neighborhoods. The owner has done a fabulous job maintaining the hotels unique facade and the interior spaces were well thought out. As an architect, I truly appreciate their efforts! My room was ready and clean upon my arrival. I will be back very soon!

We actually moved from another hotel as we had problems at the first. This hotel is small and lovely and brilliantly located. All of the staff were perfectly pleasant and helpful. Especially Liz from The Marilyn restaurant located in the same building. We did have to share a king size bed (two sisters) and the room was a bit smaller, but in an old boutique building that's what you expect. It was beautifully turned out.

This hotel checks all the boxes when it comes to a pleasant stay in new york. My girlfriend and i stayed 3 days and she was very impressed with the decor and vibe. Staff was very friendly and did tell me about a speakeasy coming so that will be cool to check out. Absolutely love the location being near the Garden (we were there for a show) and k town (so many yummy foods) and the empire state building is right there! Overall i feel like i got a great value, the results exceeded my expectations.

We chose this hotel for 2 nights due to good location and reasonable price and it exceeded expectations in almost all areas. Friendly staff, clean and well furnished room and bathroom, good vibe generally. Renovation is still on-going but it didn't bother us one bit. The only problem we had with it was noisy A/C unit in the room. With it on you could barely keep a normal conversation or sleep, without it - it really got hot quite quick. Size and quality of the bed, however, made up for it. Overall - strongly recommended, I'll definitely return the next time I'm in NYC.

Hotels are probably the most expensive things in this city. This one is affordable, perfectly located and has style (and history). Our room did not have much light. But we essentially needed it to sleep after a long day in the city. The staff was (mostly) friendly. The breakfast could be improved but there are many options around.

This little hotel has an old-timey feel, but it has everything you need. The rooms are small but comfortable, there is a fitness room and coffee (not in room, though) available 24/7, and complimentary breakfast in the morning. The location is a few blocks from the subway, and convenient to Herald Square. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is pet-friendly. There was street noise, but that is not unexpected in NYC. Definitely recommend.

The most unbelievable hotel bed we’ve slept on. Also super quiet, super safe, and in a great neighborhood with an unbelievably central location. Kind staff. I mean, do you really need any more than that? Lobby, elevators, staircases, and hallways are all a bit dated but not in disrepair. Don’t let the initial appearance fool you. The room we had was great. Large (for NY), clean, and decor has held up very well. Not sure the last time it had been renovated, but the vibe is definitely more modern and put together than the other hotel spaces. Ask for a room on a higher floor if one is available. We were on the second floor and the windows had a view of nothing except what looked like HVAC plumbing and fire escapes. Almost zero natural light. Looking forward to continuing to see this hotel update and evolve (bar and restaurant reopening soon!) since reopening what seems like a couple of months ago.

EDIT TO ADD: I’ve received 2 different responses to THIS review, but have yet to hear from anyone from the hotel. The hotel is very cute but the service is absolutely ABYSMAL! We checked in and got to our room which was nice, but there was no hot water in the shower. We were told they were working on the boilers and there was nothing they could do about it. We took room temp showers and left for our show. We got back and were hopeful since the sink water was warm, but again the shower was COLD and the toilet wasn’t flushing. Our tv remote didn’t work so we also didn’t have access to our television. We called housekeeping and the front desk, no answer. The next morning we complained but the man at the front desk said he would have the manager call when he got in, that there was nothing he could do. I never got a call and when I called later that day, I got an attitude from the person I was speaking to, who said that there was no documentation of any complaints, and the “am manager” had left for the day. The next day I called around lunch time (even though someone was again supposed to call me), again I received an attitude, and was told that the “pm manager” wouldn’t be in until 4pm. The next day I called and no one answered. Never once has anyone apologized for my inconvenience and everyone acts as if I’m wrong for complaining, and I STILL HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM ANYONE (it has been a week now). We booked through hotel tonight who have been very apologetic, but aren’t able to fully refund us. I have placed a dispute with my credit card company, but I will NEVER step foot inside this building again. In addition to the terrible service and lack of hot water, the windows are so thin that it felt like we were sleeping on the streets of NYC. JUST DON’T GO!!!

I lived in NYC for 20+ years. I know what to expect from a boutique hotel. This was not it. The room is tiny, but I knew that going in. That the room feels like a prison explains why the hotel is so inexpensive. On top of that, it's dirty and worn. There is a thick layer of dust on the bed frame and dirt in the bathroom. Everything is worn and stained, from the desk to the vanity to the bathroom mirror to the walls and the picture frames. The television doesn't work. The air conditioning/heat is at least as old as I am. The towels are worn, so thin they’re nearly see-through, and scratchy. I can sleep anywhere for two nights. But I definitely won't be back and would suggest you look elsewhere. Followup: I wrote this in the middle of my stay. Honestly, it continued to get worse. Every night I returned to my room, the hallway was almost entirely blocked by laundry carts. And more dirt and broken items appeared throughout the stay. I appreciate the hotel responded; perhaps spend that time improving the property instead.

Just did three days and two nights here. Found by accident chains were crazy. Thought it was great. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful (I don’t need much though). The room was exactly as advertised yes small but I know what I was getting. If I was with someone I would get a bigger room. Rooms are very stark. It’s the design. Yes a rug or two or some more prints might help but that’s taste not a fault. Street is quiet but close to everything. I walked to the park. SoHo. Everywhere. Right off fifth I’d stay here again and am at least once a month through April. Very good find

The staff was so accommodating. They went above and beyond for us. Great customer service is hard to come by especially in NYC but everyone was so geuine and helpful. The rooms were large and bright. They had ice and water machines on multiple floors and the location is great. Definitely will be back!

Had a wonderful stay ... check-in was simple. The room was glamorous and clean. Temperature was easy to control. Staff were helpful and welcoming .Any questions I had were addressed quickly . The recommendations were helpful. I would rebook this hotel to anyone sightseeing. Steps away from empire state building. A quick 15 minute walk away from Times Square.

Just came back from the Life Hotel NYC ( 2 adults and 7 year old Kid) The stay was wonderful, clean room, comfortable bed, large room and large bedroom . Very quit other then the noise from outside which is normal for NYC. Absolutely no issues at all and would stay here again without any hesitation. 15 minute walk from Time Square, Bus and Subway is 2 minutes away, Starbucks and coffee shops 1 minute walk. There is parking for 55 dollars a day but if you use the SpotHero parking site you can find parking for as low as 30 dollars a days within 15 minutes walk. Overall 10/10 experience.

Overall enjoyed my stay. Room was clean and spacious for New York. Only negative thing about the room was the floors as they were cement and rough. Other than that everything else was great our room was cleaned everyday. Location was great as it is located in Koreatown and minutes from great restaurants and attractions. Service was great and especially happy with the fact that they allowed us to store our luggage for a few hours after checkout as our flight was not until later.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Life Hotel in New York City, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. There are several aspects that made this stay memorable. In conclusion, my stay at the Life Hotel in New York City was a delightful experience. It's a place where you can count on a good location, comfortable and clean rooms, and strong, fast WiFi. The "other things" were equally exceptional, from the attentive staff to the overall ambiance of the hotel. I wholeheartedly recommend the Life Hotel to anyone looking for an enjoyable and convenient stay in the Big Apple. It truly made my visit to New York City all the more memorable.

I had a wonderful time at the Life Hotel. It was located in a central area of Manhattan, I could see the Empire State Building from my room. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, the room was very clean and stylish, it was a great experience. The staff was also great to work with, they made my stay very personable, and they were also very helpful. I would stay there again, definitely a five star hotel!

After the numerous negative reviews I read on Google I was very happy with our stay at Life Hotel. Our check-in with Mira was extremely pleasant and she was fantastic to deal with, as were all the other staff we spoke to or were assisted by. The hotel had a small selection of breakfast which is new and I really appreciated having this available each day, especially on the morning of the marathon. Maybe some warm food or more continental offerings as a suggestion and slightly better coffee? The hotel is a bit dark in the lobby, but I assume that is part of the ambience they have gone for. Our room, 411, was great but a bit dark as it was at the back of the building. However, it was a welcome break from the busy and noisy NYC streets. Overall was a great stay and I am glad we booked here and didn't book elsewhere based on the negative reviews we had read. It is very central and a great based to have to explore NYC and the surrounding Boroughs.

This is a great hotel. Beautiful, classy, and affordable lodgings in a legendary New York building. Just a great value. Friendly staff, free 24 hour coffee and free breakfast. Can’t recommend higher.

Best thing about this hotel is its location and decor. The hotel seems a bit old and it holds a classy vintage vibe in the lobby but modern in the room. Because it's located in New York, the rooms are quite small so the bathrooms are even smaller. And maybe since it's old and small, the bathroom's vent and plumbing doesn't work so well. The smell was pretty vial and it takes forever to flush. But other than that, it's a pretty nice one.

Cute boutique hotel centrally located in midtown. The rooms were great, and accommodated three easily. Really loved the room decor and the historic feel of the hotel. The fitness facility was also impressive, though small (typical). Ate dinner at the restaurant one night, which was very good. I could not have picked a better hotel for our stay at Christmas.

Amazing location! Bathroom was nice and spacious at this price. Heat and water worked well which should be standard in NYC but sometimes isn’t. The place was a great find and I’ll be heading back.

I was in New York to attend an event very near the Herald Square Hotel. I booked a room, not expecting much for the very reasonable price. It's a small place, with a lovely entrance and tiny lobby. My room was nearly perfect. It was small, but had fourteen foot ceilings with elaborate molding, a big brass bed and a (black!) chandelier. The large bath was faced in marble and also featured a small chandelier. Good water pressure, nice towels and sufficient lighting too. The bed was comfortable, with plenty of pillows and, best of all, no bleachy-off-gassing from the bedding. I really hate waking up with sore, red eyes from industrial laundry processing. I was on the second floor, but the room was quiet. The old walls masked any sound from other rooms and I didn't hear street noise either. The hotel is undergoing renovations, and although my room looked recently redone, I would have appreciated an outlet near the head of the bed. I did not avail myself of the advertised continental breakfast. There's no way I'm going to Manhattan and missing out on trying one of thousands of great places to eat! I would certainly stay at the Herald Square Hotel again. It had everything I wanted - a clean, pretty, comfortable, well-appointed room. The neighborhood is full of good Korean restaurants, and handy to lots of midtown attractions. There are parking garages nearby.

We were looking for a boutique hotel rather than a chain. This place fit the bill exactly. Walked in around 1pm knowing we were early but the team got us a room straight away and allowed us to check in. Rooms are light and airy, well organized. Really pleased we stayed here and had to be one of the best NYC hotels we have stayed in. Great location for everything.

My family and I recently stayed here, and we found this to be a great hotel. The street that it is located on may turn people away, but the inside is extremely clean, and the staff is amazing. No carpets and a bed protector too, so no bed bugs here! This was amazing, and I would highly recommend that you not be put off by how it looks at first.

The staff excelled in their customer service, especially Armando at the check-in desk! Yes, I will wear a coat out, thanks. Also, the room was comfortable, and the bed was made for a sound sleep We are very pleased with our stay. They do have a fitness room, 24 hour free coffee and tea on the second floor and one of only two half moon elevators in the USA! The restaurant that is located on the property is excellent too! Did not get an opportunity to visit the bar but it looked well stocked and very nice. Location is great, price is reasonable and personnel very customer oriented. We will be back.

Overall a very good experience! Perfect location, very nice beds and room space. The bedroom is a bit old, but very well maintained and clean. Water takes a while to heat in the shower, but the bathroom is very spacious and clean. The thing that really needs changing is that some of the staff members have to be friendlier and more polite (I even had a very bad experience with one of them). Some of them are very engaging and helpful, though.

Loved this place. Cute boutique hotel. I read a lot of reviews about the resort fee. All in its not much to pay for free Wi-Fi and free breakfast. Their pastries at breakfast are tasty, they had fruit and overnight oats. No hot breakfast but the small selection they did have was tasty. The rooms are nice, updated and clean. We were in a premium king room and though smaller than hotel rooms in other cities, for NYC we thought it was reasonably spacious. They could use more convenient power sources near the bed tables. The mattress is my only real complaint. It’s a very soft mattress that sags a bit in the middle so if you have back problems, it’s probably not the most ideal spot. All that said, could just be my preference but overall we loved our stay.

My husband and I needed a well priced hotel in NYC for our honeymoon and we landed at Herald Square. Some of the rooms were being renovated at the time so we asked for a newer room. It was gorgeous. The staff was kind and professional and the room was clean, welcoming, and more than we had expected. We've since stayed with them 3 times. Love this place. I'd recommend it to any traveler. The locked front door and thick glass at reception didn't bother me at all. If anything, being from a small town in FL, it made me feel safer. Again, love this hotel and cannot wait to go back.

An Exceptional Stay at a 5-Star Gem! I recently had the pleasure to experience an absolutely delightful stay at this beautiful hotel. From the moment I arrived until the time I departed, the outstanding service and amenities made my visit truly unforgettable. Without hesitation, I give this hotel a well-deserved 5-star rating! Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the attentive and gracious staff. The check-in process was seamless, and the warm welcome made me feel right at home. Throughout my stay, the team consistently went above and beyond to ensure my every need was met. From the concierge offering excellent recommendations to the housekeeping staff promptly attending to my room, the level of service was exemplary. Speaking of the rooms, they were nothing short of spectacular. The spaciousness and tasteful decor created a soothing and elegant ambiance. The bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep after a long day of exploring the city. The room's cleanliness and attention to detail were also noteworthy, reflecting the hotel's commitment to maintaining impeccable standards.

I was very satisfied with this hotel. You know I was very first-time for traveling a road. It was so challenging and also worried little. But the hotel CLERKS were so nice and very kind. They could meet my requirements well! I hope that I can visit here someday again! Thx:)

Stayed here in early October and would absolutely love to stay here again! We stayed in a deluxe king room and it was beautiful. While we didn’t have a view, it didn’t change the fact that the room and bathroom was very clean. The bathroom was so nice and spacious and the tall shower head was a small detail that made it feel that much more luxurious!! The location was amazing for my stay, right in Koreatown, not too far from Times Square or Penn Station. Loved the area, the staff, and the room itself! Cant wait to stay here again!
