late check-in. we were early at the facility at 1pm, we went out to eat came back at 2.45pm still waiting for room. the room was ready at 3.15pm. we didnt have toothpaste or toothbrush in the room. waited a while for a grumpy looking staff to bring them. much to our disappointment, we were allocated to low floor at 3rd level and a handicapped room. was it because we were asians? (this assumption is made after reading reviews about the hotel management). the staff are not too friendly too. only the lady at level 2 lounge is friendly and helpful. no housekeeping until the night before we check out. beware of a resort charge of $40 per night which we were totally uninformed of.

I stayed here with my son over the Christmas week for 4 nights. I booked the hotel through a third party listing that didn’t mention a $50 hotel “privilege” fee. Upon check in, the hotel staff failed to mention the additional fees, and made a hurried mention of afternoon wine and cheese and a $25 credit for breakfast at the restaurant downstairs. They never mentioned that there’s a second floor lounge, or a separate complimentary “take out” breakfast (all things I found out by researching the website directly). The print out of the folio shows the additional daily charges beyond the original booking charge: $50 house privilege fee; $4.44 NY sales tax; $2.94 NYC occupancy tax. That’s an additional $57.38 charge per night. Had it been clear upfront, or had they taken the time to go through the amenities provided, I would not be left surprised and upset. The location is optimal—within walking distance to most of the big NYC sites, and close to many of the subway lines. The hotel is rated as 4-star, but the rooms show significant signs of wear and tear, including dirty walls and mildew in shower. Room AC was very loud and would wake me up occasionally as it tried to kick on. As I was waiting for checkout, I heard another couple complain about their heater not working. Room service was inconsistent, and I had to call for coffee supplies since housekeeping forgot to refresh the coffee on one of the days.

The hotel is lovely. The Location is good. Not far from the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and Grand Central Station, which can take you anywhere in New York. Walking distance to Central Park. Walking distance to Times Square. Close to fifth avenue for shopping. Lots of restaurant options. The room was very nice. The bathroom was huge. The bed was comfortable. The lobby is nice. The only knock on the hotel the front desk receptionist presented the breakfast as free, but it was not. The free wine from 5-7 is not free. The gym is not free. They charge 60 dollars a night plus a tax housing fee to use these amenities, which I did not use. Now that I know you are paying extra for the amenities, I will be sure to use them because you will not get your money refunded if you don't use them. You also get a 25-dollar credit towards a meal at the restaurant, which is essentially, you are paying to go to the restaurant, and they are forcing you to go to the restaurant and eat and drink there. Because of this housing fee and charging extra to use the restaurant and eat and drink there, I most likely would not book this hotel again or would not recommend this hotel to others. This hotel seems more oriented toward business than really for families. However, the staff there are amicable. They were able to accommodate an early check-in, and they store your luggage for you when you have a later flight, so you don't have to carry your luggage around the city. They provided eating utensils when I didn't have any to eat my food and brought it to my room. They bring breakfast to your room. Great location and room, but the fees for the amenities make me hesitate to book and recommend this hotel.

This is not a 4* hotel The hygiene is very questionable. I left after one day. The view is not enough to compensate terrible prestations. I am disgusted. You have stains, floor is sticky. The personal looks miserable. I will even speaks about the breakfast that's just a huge joke. It's very cheap. 2* hotels are better than this. It was supposed probably to be a nice hotel and concept in the past but the hotel is now in terrible condition. The room, the lounge, the alleys nothing is ok. Go your way, cleanliness is the ground rule of hospitality.

We got the executive suite and the room was very small. There was nothing luxurious about the experience. Only one small bottle of water was provided by the hotel for a three night stay. Coffee and tea were never restocked. The hotel breakfast was also a joke. If you stay here don't expect a luxury stay. The bare minimum is provided.

Have stayed here several times, and sadly watched this place deteriorate each time. It’s still good value in a good location, but the rooms are tired, the whole place feels a little dirty (the elevators and lower level where the gym are smell of sewage), and the service is a little lacking (including at the attached restaurant Cognac, which has generally good food but diabolically bad service at breakfast).

Arrived after midnight and had to bang on the door to be admitted. Had paid extra to receive a room with TWO DOUBLE BEDS and received a room with a bed and a pull out couch. Front desk person gave us keys to two other rooms and HAD US GO TO THE ROOMS OURSELVES in search of the correct room we had reserved. I saw online a picture of a room WITH TWO BEDS, and that is what I upgraded to! We gave up. Had ordered $10 chocolates as it was my birthday. NEVER RECEIVED. Since we had to be at a family event early in the am, we asked about breakfast in room. The front desk person told us to fill out the form and attach to our door, which we did. When morning came, nothing. Form still attached to our door. Mgr who called me later tried to lie that a room with a pull out couch was the same. I will be looking closely at my itemized bill.

The hotel has been amazing, the staffs and the housekeepers were amazing as well. It has been an awhile where I was actually really happy with hotels I have booked with in the past. This is by far the best stay and customer service I have ever received. Staffs were respectful and amazing more than 10/10 and the housekeepers who came every morning to give us fresh towels, water bottles, bed was made, even set aside my girlfriends makeup brushes on a towel. It was just the little things that mattered. I would absolutely be staying with you guys again in the future and also recommend this hotel to friends and family. Great location for everything, Fifth Ave, Rockefeller Center, the Church, Chrysler Building, Vanderbilt, Grand Central Station, and 4/5/6 train for Lexington Ave. Breakfast was amazing while we were there, it was free too. Out of how many hotels nowadays can you say that breakfast is free? Water was always available too. The rooms are very clean and you had full windows that goes from the top to the bottom for an amazing perspective of New York City. Very safe area to stay as well. A beautiful restaurant at the first floor as well if you get hungry. Again very pleased with the stay, these Staffs and Housekeepers deserves a raise for sure. Until next time Hotel 48Lex. Cheers!

Do not stay here if you value your belongings. Imagine if you are a bride and your shapewear and bra go missing as well the the Jimmy choo shoe box your wedding shoes came in. Not only that but since there was going to be a refund for a meal since It was previously paid, and the cook was not there, instead the credit card was charged twice and the charge had to be disputed. It’s done and there is nothing that can be done about it now. I just want to let others know. I will never stay there again.

Only real issue was the room we received did not match the picture on the website. I brought it up with the receptionist who completely understood the issue once she saw the picture. We stayed in room 2101 which looks identical to the picture used for a King Salon however, we were booked for a Premier King Salon with the difference being a complete wall of windows in the premier King Salon whereas the King salon has a break in the windows with a protruding portion of the wall that effects the added feature of the higher placed room. Again this was the only issue and not that big of a one for us however it should be fixed as it can be construed as misleading. Our favorite part of the Hotel was the service during the Happy Hour in the Lounge from Lady (That is her name correct?) who was very attentive and welcoming.

I enjoyed my stay and would stay again. Check in was simple, Avery was super kind to my child, which is always 5 stars in my book. The room itself was nice, a great amount of space for two people. I visited the lounge for the wine hour. The wine was good and flowing. There was a lovely group on a girls trip that were again, super kind to my child. Due to sleeping late we got room service for breakfast, which was delivered hot and was pretty good. Reasons why not five stars: No hand soap in the bathroom (I used my own), one wash cloth, a kitchenette with no dishes. While I'm sure these items can be requested, they are also things if I need to use I wouldn't want to wait 15-20 minutes for. It was also really cold in the room. I adjusted the thermostat but didn't want to make it hot either. If I was longing around in the room more it would've been quite uncomfortable but we were out and about. Room service took longer than they said. I was told about 15 minutes but it took nearly 40. I don't mind the wait because I want well prepared food, just tell me a longer time upfront. Finally I could not use the in room phone or tv to call the front desk or room service, I had to use my own phone. For me, these problems weren't the worst but would love to see them fixed. Room: 404

I liked this hotel in general, could improve in cleaning of the room. The service of Mrs Lady in the bar is amazing, and Mr. Romeo in the restaurant wonderful, thank you all. Hotel is located very close to main attractions in NY and to grand central terminal for fast mobilization to JFK airport.

I'll start by saying that I rarely write reviews, and I'm a Marriott ambassador with 150+ nights at Marriott properties this year. I happened to get caught in midtown for another night and was unimpressed by the prices and options with bonvoy and decided to give the Lex a try because of the rate and proximity to where I was previously. I walked in around 9:00 on a Saturday night and was immediately pleased with the politeness and professionalism of the desk staff. Despite no association with the hotel, they were kind enough to upgrade me to a suite without even requesting one. Having stayed in many a midtown hotel, the room was very well appointed. I imagine the property had formerly been corporate apartments, as there was a dishwasher in the room. Despite its previous use, it was clean and in very good condition. The room was quite spacious, and the linens were good quality and quite new. The complimentary in-room breakfast was good, and a very nice touch to set the Lex apart from their counterparts. I didn't use the fitness center or lounge, but as rare options in NY I was happy to hear that the property had these amenities. I can't say for sure that I won't stay at the Ritz or St. Regis on future stays if the price is right, but I'd say that I'll certainly be keeping 48 Lex in the lineup. And if anyone from the hotel reads this review, I'd like to commend the staff because the hospitality makes all the difference.

We had a great experience staying here last week. The staff was very friendly and accommodating from the beginning. One of their staff members, Avree, was very helpful and easy to work with. The location is great and our room was clean and quiet. We had a couple of little hiccups with our stay, but the staff was helpful in getting everything resolved. Overall we were very happy with our stay and can't wait to go back!

I chose this hotel for its central location near Grand Central and the subway. The rooms initially appeared clean and beautifully modern. However, upon closer inspection, signs of wear and tear were evident (worn chairs, damaged bed backboards, and bathroom sliding doors). I was surprised by additional charges. Booking through Expedia, a resort tax including VAT was listed at $50 per night, supposedly covering a complimentary breakfast. During check-in, I was asked for my credit card to settle the expected $200 tax for 4 nights, but later, my card was charged almost $700. Initially, I received no explanation for the discrepancy. Only after another staff member completed check-in for other guests was I informed that VAT applied to the resort tax, and a $100 per night deposit was charged. (Retransfer after checkout has been done after less than 2 days) Despite being assured that the bill would be emailed, doubts about its delivery led me to request a printed copy, which, despite assurances of breakfast being part of the resort tax, was charged during check-out. At check-in, we weren't informed that the complimentary breakfast wasn't available at Brasserie Cognac but rather on the hotel's 2nd floor. Before entering the restaurant, I was again assured that it was included in the price. (The staff member saw us heading towards the restaurant afterward and said nothing) The hotel's email responsiveness was lacking. Before my New York trip, I requested airport shuttle pricing via email, and post-travel, I sought clarification on the charged breakfast. Unfortunately, no response was received, rendering my inquiries obsolete. Summary: The hotel enjoys a fantastic location. The rooms are clean but do show some signs of wear. Unforeseen fees led to an unclear total price, leaving me dissatisfied and uncertain. Therefore, I'll opt for accommodations with better price transparency next time.

Okay, this place, I want to say I was completely blown away by our rooms presentation, but we really weren't. It was very dingy and a little dirty. We received complentary wine to celebrate an anniversary and the cups werent clean. But the bed was phenomenal, the view from our terrace was top notch. But the room itself just didn't seem worth the price we paid. & the restaurant below has some incredible food amd service. I also need to shout out Rachel at the front desk. The amount of calls and requests I had before we arrived, she was so patient and helpful. She really made our stay 1000% better.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel 48Lex. It's in a great location in Midtown. My room was clean and had a nice view of 270 Park Ave being built. It was cool watching a skyscraper being built! The front desk agents were nice and held my bags for me until check in time. Room service did a great job of cleaning my room when requested. The bathroom was a great size! The bathroom door is a sliding door fyi. I would stay here again. 😁

Hidden fees, varying levels of service from staff/hotel, and broken elevator/wifi. Long story short: Overall, while I liked the room, all of the extra junk we had to deal with for a "nice hotel" just wasn't worth the headache and worry. When my wife and I were out and about, we would dread coming back to the hotel at the end of the night; which is wild to think about considering that NYC is kind of crazy and smells like urine... I will not be back to this hotel, and I would not recommend anybody I know to stay here. If you are booking this hotel, be warned there are additional fees that you cannot avoid and cannot be refunded for. They charge an additional $57 per night for the use of hotel amenities, breakfast, and a $25 credit for the hotel restaurant. This was majorly inconvenient because 1) the breakfast the hotel offers can be hit or miss, 2) The hotel restaurant doesn't have the most impressive reviews and if I'm visiting NYC I want to go to better places to eat, and 3) if I have no interest in these additional amenities, I should not have to pay a couple hundred dollars on top of the money I had already paid to book the room a week earlier. Also, you will have to pay about $100 fee per night of your stay in addition to the amenity fees for the room (in case something gets damaged in the room) and when we checked in we were never told this would be later refunded to us. The first two days of our trip were heavily dampened because we're suddenly told, after having already booked our room, that we now have to pay an additional $500 in random fees. We finally asked the front desk worker, Rachel (who was an excellent point of contact throughout our entire trip, thankfully!), about the non-amenity fees, and she assured us that $100 per night should be refunded after our stay assuming we didn't damage the room. While I appreciate knowing that now, I just wish we had been told that at the beginning of our stay. Now, the rooms were nice. Really nice. I had no issues with the rooms at all. There was one day where nobody came to clean our room, which my wife didn't like, but I personally don't care too much as long as it's not multiple days in a row. Wifi: I had no clue wifi could be so annoying to connect to. The check-in worker even gave us an access code, and I typed that thing in forwards, backwards, capitalized, un-capitalized, spanish, german, everything, and could not connect to the stupid wifi. I just used my data the entire trip. Finally, the cherry on top was that of the two elevators in this 20+ story hotel, one of them broke on the last day. So waiting and riding an elevator took an insanely long amount of time. Overall, while I liked the room, all of the extra junk we had to deal with for a "nice hotel" just wasn't worth the headache and worry. I will not be back, and I would not recommend anybody I know to stay here.

I booked through Priceline off a great deal where the don’t show you the name of the hotel. After receiving the name and looking at the reviews, I began to get a bit nervous. Some of the reviews were terrible about the room, the lobby, etc. I have to say my experience was the exact opposite. I thought the staff, all of whom I interacted, were extremely kind, helpful and warm. The manager Graciela, I believe, was extremely nice and welcoming. My room was great, very clean, very comfortable and included a little mini- kitchen area that I was expecting. They provided free breakfast and pastries (nothing insane, but good), I was not expecting this either. They have a lounge on the 2nd floor for guests which they offer complimentary wine every day at 5pm, another unexpected treat. They communicated on the first day that after certain hours you can only enter the lobby and elevator by your room card key, I was not blindsided by anything as it seems some people were . My stay was great and If you’re considering staying here, I would advise you to ignore some of these reviews from clearly high maintenance and impossible to please people. Thank you for everything, Hotel 48Lex!

I loved staying here! It was perfectly located central to my office. Check-in was easy and the front desk staff was beyond helpful and gave me all the details. I didn’t know that my room would have a balcony so I was pleasantly surprised. And the room was basically sound proof, I didn’t hear any outside noise which was my favorite part of my whole stay. It was spacious and I loved my room. I never leave reviews but I just had to!

I wouldn't recommend it, when I checked in the room on 20th floor had Windows open and smelled of smoke. The bed sheets didn't smell clean. I complained but they said no room left. Unfortunately I left some personal items when checking out, I tried calling next day and left message 3 times, no one ever got back to me. The only good thing is the spacious shower , fancy soaps and free breakfast.

Room: Pros:Nice room, clean enough, nice bathroom. Larger and more modern than I was seeing with other similarly priced properties. Comfortable bed Cons: The heat was unbearable to sleep in. Set it at 65 and never got below 74 and felt more like 84. Maintenance came up to duct tape the hot air vent. Very uncomfortable and hard to sleep. Service: Pros: Hotel front desk staff was nice. No lobby. And they answered the direct line when we had questions upon arrival Cons: Tried to use Cognac restaurant for breakfast. Waited 20 minutes at our table with no service even for water so left. Host said nothing. $25/day breakfast credit kind of useless Location: All pros here. Just outside the hustle and bustle of the main attractions - Times Square, Rockefeller etc... but in a nice city block with fewer retail establishments.
