Ther reception is so rude.He was not understood our situations. I have my mom was so sick and Iā€™m single mom, I have to visiting hospital and I have to taking care my baby. I brought my baby to waiting at front corner because I understand the policy to not allow baby to going upstairs and today is Sunday, no where day care is open. I would like to bring my baby to have a seat and he didnā€™t allowed because he said that chair is not for seat and when I asked for who? He called the supervisors and the supervisor is so rude also because she only hear the story from the receptionist and say Iā€™m not respectful. The receptionist is man without hair darker skin wear black mask. The receptionist was not respectful when he talk he just not talk to my face,he just grumbling to someone else and then he said Iā€™m not respectful but The way He talked he doesnā€™t realize how to being respectful with someone else when you talking. So be careful with the receptionist. They allowed someone else to seat there but they didnā€™t allow my kids to seat.do you think is fair?.I gave the picture there has someone else seat there. I think this has unfair conditions. Might be because I'm Asian so they scared on me to seat there, even they spray the table i touched with lysol. . The supervisor on 04/25/2021 at 3pm was unfair, she didn't hear visitor complain, she only believe the receptionist . Why the hospital hire that kind of supervisor and receptionist? As front desk you should give a good first impression and serve with humble heart and respectful to visitor .Only one man white man receptionist brought me another chair and I really appreciate it.

3 years later and my family is still not over the treatment we received at this horrible hospital. Maternity ward is bad to the point of being very dangerous. Do not go here or use their doctors for pregnancy. You will be abandoned when you need help the most. Not a joke, donā€™t go here. Look at their response to this below. They canā€™t even write a sentence correctly. It perfectly encapsulates their attitude. They donā€™t care to do things well. Have your baby and then go suffer alone because we donā€™t know how to do things.

My roommate was admitted to the emergency room for a seizure and they were completely unhelpful. Not only were we yelled at and scolded when weā€™re trying to see her. They were very unorganized, no one could give us the exact place she was in. We were put in multiple different waiting rooms. When we would ask for help in directions we would be looked down on. They wouldnā€™t listen to her mother over the phone either. Absolutely ridiculous. The people in the emergency room are unorganized, rude, and lazy. We had to search for our roommate ourselves which is ridiculous. This is a hospital, the staff should be keeping track of where there patients are. I believe the staff didnā€™t take us seriously solely because we looked younger. Because of that they would refuse to help us at times. Disgusting. You work in a hospital, you should work on your bedside manner when dealing with patients loved ones. We should never have to worry about trusting a hospital but I was extremely worried about the type of care and treatment provided here.

My friend was just discharged from this hospital after the worst 48 hours of care at a hospital that I have ever heard of. I received constant updates via text, photos, and FaceTime that make me feel qualified to write this review even though I was not the patient. The conditions were dirty (MICE and TRASH) and the staff were incompetent. We are understanding people who are very familiar with the healthcare industry- the issues experienced during this stay were beyond any issues youā€™d run into when a hospital is understaffed. The hospital managers were given ample time to respond to these issues during her stay and did not. This hospital needs to be investigated, what care is being provided to the patients who do not have all the advocates that my friend had? Dirty and Unacceptable Accommodations: there were MICE (!!!!) in her hospital room. When a nurse was notified, they nonchalantly said thereā€™s mice and roaches all over the hospital. The garbage bin in the bathroom was overflowing. There were soiled materials (gauze pads etc) on the floor of the room that remained there for hours. The call bell was broken. When the patient tried to call the nurses station, the audio could not be heard and no one ever came to check on her. Lastly, there was NO HAND SOAP to be found anywhere in the room or bathroom. She requested that she be provided with hand soap numerable times and never received. A friend had to deliver hand soap to the hospital for this patient. Incompetent staff: staff in the ED lost her covid test (their words exactly), and ultimately had to administer 3 covid tests. Another nurse stated he did not know how to work the machine being used to dispense IV medication. No one communicated information in a timely manner and it took many calls to the Patient Representative Department to get any attention to these issues. Even then, a manager who came to the room and agreed that the conditions of the room were unacceptable, did not take any action to remedy the situation. The manager also acknowledged to patient that she was aware that staff on the floor were known for not being responsive to patients. Manager was also aware early on that the call bell was broken but that issue was never resolved during patientā€™s time at the hospital. There is a lack of dignity, respect, and basic care being provided to the patients at this hospital and Iā€™m horrified to know thereā€™s a hospital providing such a low level of care. I would never recommend that anyone seek treatment here and I hope that this hospital takes serious action to improve the care and conditions.

Worst hospital ever! I gave birth to my daughter there and totally regret choosing this hospital. My nurse wasnā€™t answering me saying that she had 4 more patients to take care off. The phone next to my bed was not working. they never asked me if I had food allergies or preferences, just throw whatever they had in the kitchen. Left the hospital after 12 hours of giving birth because I couldnā€™t stand it. I tried calling patientā€™s representative , of course they transferred me to a non working number. No body deserves to have similar experience!

This is the worst place ever to visit for care. The security staff at the front lobby are extremely rude, unprofessional and disorderly. I will not visit here again. It is as though the security staff and front lobby employees are allowed to get away with being disrespectful toward visitors. I comply with the rules and regulations but I am still treated worse than dirt here. I will take my business to a different Mount Sinai location elsewhere. As an established patient and visitor I do NOT deserve the disrespect and mistreatment I have experienced at Mount Sinai West. I call to make a complaint more than once but my call is either disconnected or I am transferred to a voicemail. I would give zeros stars if I could.

Horrible hospital. The nursing staff was rude and incompetent. They have horrible attitudes. God forbid your loved one is having a surgery that last past 9pm, they will kick you out the waiting room and place you in the hallway. Me and 3 other families had to be escorted out the waiting room. They stop giving you updates so you are pretty much in limbo trying to figure out whatā€™s happening. Luckily, there is glass panels surrounding the closed waiting room where you can see the surgery monitor. If it wasnā€™t for that we would not know a thing.

Though my surgeon and his team were absolutely amazing, the same can not be said for the hospital itself. Undergoing a rare surgery, my husband and I came from out of state because this hospital is the only one with a surgeon that could perform the surgery I needed. While an inpatient, recovering in the hospital room, I was sharing a room with another woman who also underwent surgery. My husband (caregiver) was with me and the woman's daughter was with her. At 9:30 pm the nurse forced my husband to leave the room while the woman's daughter got to stay. Why? Because my husband "is a male" and "males are not allowed in a room when the other patient in the room is a female". WHAT!? It doesn't even make sense, but since my husband and I are both respectful, he left and was forced to try and sleep on a chair in the lounge that was bolted to the wall (couldn't be moved to line chairs up to possibly lay on) while a man loudly watched tv feet from him. Needless to say, he didn't sleep much (and since I had scapula surgery, he had to drive us home the next morning, several hours away, on no sleep) and neither did I. The next morning, he was finally allowed back in my room... after I was told what I had to do to care for myself once home... being so drugged up I didn't remember any of it which is why an individual's caretaker should be in the room with them so they can remember that stuff. After the surgery, I eventually received the bill from the hospital, which my insurance clearly wasn't added to. It was listed on the bill that I had no insurance. Giving that information to several people the day of my surgery... how didn't the billing department have it!? I uploaded that information (with pictures of the card) to the my chart database myself, but no one ever looked at it on there either. Finally got in touch with the individual "in charge" of my case. I gave him all the information he asked me for regarding my insurance... again. He calls back claiming I am not in the health insurance system, I do not have insurance, that is why its not on my bill. I HAVE INSURANCE. I attempted in relaying to him other information to maybe see what was not matching up between us but he kept cutting me off (which is extremely frustrating). I ended up calling my insurance myself and having them call him, which then got things sorted out. It's ridiculous though that if he just listened to me or viewed the images of the card that I uploaded onto my chart then all of that could have been avoided (why have the option to upload the card if no one views it?). My surgeon is amazingly talented and knowledgeable, so are his staff and the anesthesiologist and his staff that helped me too. I recommend the doctors there 100%. It's the staff of other departments (nurses and billing department members) that make things unnecessarily stressful.

On today, I arrived for my OBGYN appt scheduled for 9:30am. Immediately I was told I couldn't be seen. I asked why and the Nurse said she spoke with the Doctor who told her that, "my reason for an appointment was UNIMPORTANT." She said that the doctor would see me but I wouldn't receive an ultrasound...it would only be a verbal consultation. Having miscarried in April, a thorough visit IS VERY important to me. I waited hours more and started to feel pain in my abdominal area. It is now 12: 05 pm and I am still in the waiting area ....just waiting. I asked the nurses on staff what could be the hold up, and I was given a discharge slip WITHOUT EVEN SEEING A DOCTOR!!!!!!! I rejected the discharge slip and told the staff that I haven't been seen. The nurse came back and said it was a "computer glitch." After waiting hours for a 10 minute verbal appt. I still don't know if my baby even has a heartbeat or exactly how far along I am. This hospital is very negligent and just SKIPPED RIGHT OVER ME!! THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR HORRIBLE STANDARDS OF SERVICE!! I WAS GIVEN A NUMBER AND NAME TO REPORT THEIR LACK OF SERVICE, BUT I AM STILL WAITING. I WILL NOT BE CONTINUING SERVICE HERE!!!!! EVER!!!!!. Update....I miscarried on 8/ 18. I kept feeling pain so I went to NYU ER..i received an ultrasound which confirmed I was 8 weeks 1 day but the fetal pole had no heartbeat. To say the least....I am devastated and depressed. However, I have a soon to be 2 year old so I am nonetheless blessed.

Horrible hospital and should be reported to the health department IMMEDIATELY. Mice in rooms, no soap in the room (how does a hospital not offer soap!) long waits and horrible staff. My friend went in to the ER for serious throat infection and COVID complications and could not have received worse care when she was admitted. Iā€™m truly embarrassed that a city like NYC could have such a horrible hospital. Shame on Mt. Sinai West. **edit** they sent a silly message asking me to contact them months ago via a form and I never heard back. So itā€™s a fake attempt to contact anyone with negative feedback to make any change. This is just so heartbreaking to me when I think of all the patients receiving this kind of treatment. And all the excellent doctors that have to work in this condition.

I had to take my son to ER yesterday evening, 11/12/23 due a seizure he had at home. He is an adult with Autism. With his diagnosis I already know before we even get to hospital that heā€™s only going to cooperative to the best of his ability and nothing more. So the cooperation MUST be from the hospital staff in order for my son to get the appropriate treatment. Forget about ā€œappropriate treatmentā€ as there was NONE! The only treatment my son received were 2 doses of medication to settle my son down as he was agitated and that was it. I waited & waited for the physician to return but he never didā€¦gone with the wind, I suppose! I told the supervising doctor I am taking my son home as my son was increasingly agitated. This doctor couldnā€™t care less. FINALLY, as we were leaving the nurse asked to do labs. I agreed but told her I am taking my son home right after and we did! The lack of care my son received was APPALLING to say the least! **To the hospital administrator**: Please educate your hospital staff on how to better manage the needs of ALL patients on the Autism spectrum and those who are intellectually disabled. Thank you.

My 87 aunt has been treated at this hospital a few times in the past few months. Every time she goes to the ER it's been an awful experience. She stays for 24 hours without being fed. She has wet herself because no one will help her to the bathroom. We need to make numerous calls, to mostly rude and disinterested people, to find out her condition and if we need to come into the city to help or get her. Today a doctor told us that it is not there number one concern to feed someone even though they have held her for over 24 hours now. I've been in many busy hospitals and they always have time to answer a question. The only hospital I routinely find rude people is in this hospital. Go somewhere else if you want to be cared for with dignity and respect.

Mount Sinai is the worst hospital Iā€™ve ever encountered. They werenā€™t always like this but in 2022 they are trash!!!!! On 9/11/22 I had to call an ambulance for my mom. Iā€™d much rather her go to Lennox Hill but they refused to take her. She fell and was unable to get up so I called an ambulance. They took her to the ER. A mess. Unorganized patients parked in every corner. She was then transferred to the maternity unit. She was left in bed for seven days without moving to the point my 66 year old mother would cry on the phone because she was not able to move. The doctor assigned to her Jeffrey Rothman useless, cold, unknowledgeable about his patients On day 4 after at least leaving him ten messages he called and told me the bare minimum. Had absolutely no care or concern for my mom. No physical therapists came nothing just left her in bed so they can milk insurance money. On the tenth day after talking to a social worker for 4 days straight trying to find my mother a decent acute rehab which they donā€™t help any bed they can find even on the street they will stick someone there. I finally find a rehab they said my mom would be discharged to. Finally, I call to find out when she would be discharged they told me 7pm. Here I am writing this review at 10:11pm and my mom is still in this pathetic hospital. I call to find out if transportation came. Iā€™m left on hold from a nurse and the phone hangs up. Clearly they left me on hold thinking I would hang up. No transport. No updates. No calls. No nothing!!!!! This hospital is trash avoid at costs.

My cousin was born in this very hospital almost 22 years ago. It is amazing to have heard its history from my uncle and to see how it has changed. I would have never imagined that I get to see my providers and specialists in a safe, clean and inclusive hospital (LGBTQ+ friendly) with friendly and easy to understand staff and medical staff in a fully accessible building, which is especially important for one that has "invisible disabilities" like autoimmune diseases.

I gave birth here 2 weeks ago Dec 24th . First and main issue I have when entering I was tested for covid my results were negative . However , I stayed for 2 days after giving birth and felt myself getting a sore throat . On the 28th I went to get retested and my results were now positive which means I got covid after being there . They didnā€™t let my boyfriend cut the cord I didnā€™t receive immediate skin to skin with my baby they toke her to get weighed as soon as I pushed her out . I was forced to give birth on my back . And the showers in post partum were dirty on another hand the nurses were nice and I have a healthy baby girl thatā€™s the only positive . Do not recommend giving birth here

The reception personal in the main entrance are rude and disrespectful. I received much kinder treatment in the ER & Evaluation unit. However my experience walking through the hospitals main entrance was disgusting. The office of patient relations should really look into providing a better experience for their patients. The first impression is the most important.

What also makes this hospital so bad is the morning security staff especially the females! They are unprofessional & talk to you in a disrespectful & ghetto way! They will literally leave you there dying & not get you any help! When I say this it's the truth I seen it happen a couple of times & all they say is "i'm not dealing with this today". Everyday patients belongings are missing, stolen or misplaced. So if your coming to this hospital with personal property, your not guaranteed that your going to leave with everything you came with. They avoid working every shift by being on there phones, egnorin you & getting up to leave & taking a bathroom break or walking away every time when needed. Everybody wonders "How do they still have there job?"šŸ¤” While others is being let go. This has to be 1 of the worst security staff management at a hospital in the city. The city should look into this over here. You would not expect this from the location, they should be better then that! (TERRIBLE)

Recently visited this ER with a patient. After observing the operations at this ER for ~36 hours, I would not recommend going to this ER. Reasons to avoid Mount Sinai West: -Majority of patients were left alone for hours without medical care or attention from staff. -There was a clear bias in which patients did and did not receive treatment and attention from doctors, and it wasn't solely related to the severity of their medical condition. -I witnessed patients shouting for a nurse or doctor only to be ignored. If they weren't mobile or if they were attached to an IV, no one would help them. -When asking nurses and doctors to ask for help for a patient, the only response given was "I can't help you, I'm not your nurse/doctor". -This ER does a 'clever' thing of placing patients in a separate section away from where their assigned nurses and doctors sit, so that they can't see when a patient needs helps. (Rooms and walls visually block them from their patients.) What is more efficient than hiding your work from view so nothing appears to need to get done? -The patient I was with wasn't informed they had been admitted to the hospital until ~24 hours into their stay. They also never had someone explain to them why they were being held at the hospital. -I was threatened when asking if the patient could receive a copy of their medical records. -We and another patient were lied to about the hospital having a closet full of clean linens and pillows by someone with 'Patient Relations'. She said she would bring some over, then never returned. I later saw a janitor ask a nurse for linens for another patient and he was successful in getting a sheet, so I asked him and he took me to the supply closet, asked another nurse to unlock it, and gave us a sheet. (When I saw the closet, there were no pillows, and maybe 3-5 sheets, no blankets.) -The patient I was with was given the wrong medication that actively worsened their condition. -We saw two blood-sucking insects in the hospital. -No one sanitized or wiped down of any hospital beds or equipment (the only thing cleaned was the floor) in the ~36 hours we were there. -We would hear heart rate monitors giving warning beeps repeatedly, without any attention given to the patient or changing the settings to suit that patient's condition. There was one nurse who went above and beyond, and was left doing all of the work her colleagues refused to do. She was the only positive experience at this ER. Everyone else was rude and didn't take their jobs seriously, and had a complete lack of respect for the patients.

Two nurses, Evelyn And Tyler were the only thing that saved my two week stay after an accident. Theyā€™re simply arenā€™t enough words to describe how horrible the stay was. The hospital doesnā€™t deserve one star deserves to be closed down. The food was an edible and Iā€™m not picky. The care was dismal. The woman next to me who had orders to have nothing by mouth was served a meal and given water by two different texts, that she choked. He would push the button when you needed care and wait and wait and wait the noise the inability to get any rest whatsoever was amazing. Announcements to reach. Staff went loudly into every room at all hours of the night, I had to request to get my bed changed and HIPAA was never respected. I shared a room with someone and heard all of their information as they heard mine. There was no attempted privacy. I had some crazy Doctor Who would come in every day and see me. Thatā€™s all he did the one time he actually listened to my heart. He talked through the whole thing. understaffed, under cleaned, and when I arrived in emergency was stuck in a corner with no ability to call for a nurse for 30 hours my only companion was the person next to me who was going through withdrawal from alcohol abuse, and if he wanted a nurse, he had to scream until one passing by heard you. When I finally got someone to take me to the restroom, they forgot me and left me there for an hour and a half , it goes on and on and on but having been in the hospital in a Third World country, I can tell you it was better than this. Go anywhere but here. UPDATE; After this review, the hospital sent me a response asking me to click a link so they could discuss my review with me. I did and the link didn't work. After being with them for 2 weeks they have my number and are welcome to call if they like.

I gave birth in this hospital few weeks ago, and I can say that my natural delivery was "a dream come true". They respected my birth plan, and they supported the breastfeeding as soon as the baby was born. We (the baby and I) made skin to skin contact immediately and for many hours. I didn't take the epidural so I have a lot of freedom of movement in order to do whatever position I wanted to make (that was wonderful). Finally the team (doctors nurses, etc..) were amazing!!! šŸ‘ Thanks šŸ˜Š šŸ™ šŸ˜˜!!!

came here bc it was the closest to us. a mistake. my er experience at presbytarian was a lot better. first of all they leave you unattended for hours. both me and my roommate were constantly complaining that even to get an IV in took hours. i had come in for trouble breathing and nobody would give me anything to help. they did a cat and x ray and waiting for those also took hours. anytime i needed something i had to send my mom out to grab and demand it of someone because otherwise nobody checked on you. my roommates iv started leaking everywhere and she had to get up and grab a nurse bc nobody comes in your room ever. the first doctor i had was nice but since my blood oxygen levels were fine refused to give me oxygen and said she couldnt hear my wheezing even though the urgent care nurses and ems people had. 12 hours later at the shift change my new doctor heard me wheezing immediately and gave me oxygen and sent me home. an unreasonably long and tiring stay. itā€™s understaffed and overwhelming.

Uncomfortable ER's reception, insensitive to patient's privacy, unsynchronized information systems between branches, and incompetent outsourced billing service. ER's reception area is quite small and dated, and also with cery limited choice from vending machine. The nurse asked SSN and other personal information during the registration in the ER partition where also squeezed with other patientā€™s family or friends. Surprised to find out that patient's record at Mount Sinai West is fully integrated at a single web site with the main hospital. and you cannot pay your bills through patient's portal. Its outsourced billing service does not seem to be able to capture all the payable invoices, and its web billing never works. This is not the professional experience I expected from one of the biggest hospital systems in the US.

The nursing staff on the 10th floor are horrific. 10B to be exact. It is true as another reviewer mentioned that they rather patients go on themselves then help them go to the bathroom. What in the world? I could not believe my ears when they said this. We canā€™t be bothered with walking her to the bathroom I would have to get help. I was beside myself! They are lazy these nurses. Condescending and never know anything ā€œtalk to your the doctorā€ is all i got after my mother in law had surgery. They are unkempt ā€”-meaning they should at least try and have pride in clean uniforms. When you go to the desk they look at you like ā€œwhat do you wantā€? Worst hospital staff. Disgusting behavior from staff. Nurse manager should be fired and nurses should be fired and new staff should be brought in. Pathetic professionals.

Mount Sinai West is the most poorly run hospital Iā€™ve ever seen in the world. The ER gets a solid F for operations. Iā€™ve witnessed multiple people screaming in pain and being completely ignored FOR HOURS in the waiting room and in the ER. The entire ER staff is jaded, bitter, and unprofessional. My spouse was in the ER for 23 hours before getting a hospital bed. Turns out the ER staff FORGOT a dose of antibiotics and now his infection has spread further into his body. Any attorneys in the house?? Even if you are bleeding to deathā€¦grab a cab and go any other hospital than Mount Sinai. Your life depends on it.

My family and I are visiting from out of town, and my mom tore her meniscus. We took her to the ER to get X-rays, pain medication, and a knee brace. We were in the ER for ~6 hours, and she received hands on bedside care for a grand total of maybe 5 minutes. When my mom had to use the restroom, the nurses rolled their eyes and threw a bedpan under her instead of helping her to an actual restroom. Every staff member was dismissive, even turning our call bell off without coming into the room. When I asked for an ice pack for my momā€™s knee, no one brought us one, leaving her in excruciating pain. When we finally got her knee brace, the nurse didnā€™t even know how to put it on. I am a nurse, as well, and I am truly horrified at the atrocious care that was provided here. The amount of eye rolls, attitude, and incompetence is on another level. Everyone here should choose another career, because there wasnā€™t one ounce of care shown to my mother.

A family member of mine had serious back surgery in this hospital. The nurses on the 8th floor were honestly the worst nurses I've ever encountered. They were lazy, rude, and barely did their job. They said it was easier for them if patients went to the bathroom in their bed because it was easier to clean it up than help them to the bathroom. Nothing changed. So they purposefully did not respond to calls for help. I witnessed this many times. There were times when it was 1 nurse for more than 16 people on the whole floor. Understaffed, yes, but is that the time to be having a conversation with the desk admin and ignoring patients? If there were 2 nurses on, BOTH went on lunch at the same time. The time on the 8th floor was dehumanizing. It was a terrible experience for my family and I. And others too. Cut to moving down to floor 3. The "Physical Therapy" floor was phenomenal. The nurses on this floor were attentive, compassionate, and very hard working. It was like night and day. They really showed care for my family member and for their jobs. Beware of the 8th floor nurses. They are not just terrible workers but poor human beings as well.

Horrible customer experience. Too large of a health system with an inability to provide you information and feedback in an easy direct way. If you have a billing issue, you will have to call multiple numbers and be given very little informative direction. Overall too large of a health system to provide good quality of care. UPDATE: In addition to billing issues, I have been trying to get a refill of a prescription for 2 weeks. Currently on my 3rd attempt calling for them to update and send script back to pharmacy. Was just hung up by the person on the call center. They have a 24-48 response time and often (as is the case this time and has been before) nothing has happened within 48 hours and I am not contacted or updated.

The doctors that work here do NOT want to do their jobs. I will admit only their supervisor doctors will do their job but these doctors are pathetic in this hospital. They will not perform adequately at all. Avoid this hospital at all costs, you will not be properly attended to, nor will you be serviced correctly. For the supervisors reading this check your doctors and get yourself better doctors that actually care about the patients and not about the money because they need it so bad. How is it your location is in Midtown, Manhattan and you cant properly service patients? Pathetic i get better service in lower end neighborhoods than here. Must be fun charging insurances, not actually servicing the patients adequately and appropriately.

This is the worst hospital in the whole world. If you want an experience characterized by people being ignored in the ER, talking down to you, refusing to answer your questions in a moment of crisis, and being treated like a nuisance and a bother while in an incredibly harrowing situation, this is the place for you. Mount Sinai West is really good at having incompetent and uncaring staff ā€” and not good at much else.

I just don't know where to start? Imagine having an epidural inserted the same time as having your baby's heartbeat check. Imagine being in the pains of labor for hours before you can get an anesthesiologist, imagine a room with mold in the corner of the sink. Worse experience ever...I will never step foot in this hospital again.

Very friendly staff and nursing team! I was admitted in a timely fashion, kept updated and informed throughout the process. The nursing team was extremely nice and nurturing. The place was clean and waiting room was thoughtful with wifi, ample power outlets, and comfy chairs. Wonderful experience from start to finish.

I just had my daughter at the west Mount Sinai and I couldnā€™t be happier with the service and staff!!! The doctors and nurses are amazing!!! Shout out to Irine, Vivian and Julia who helped me SO MUCH! Everyone is so patient and helpful!!! Sure you have to share rooms at this hospital but you are in Manhattan so it is what it is! The most important thing to me as a first time mom was to have qualified, friendly and patient nurses and doctor helping and guiding me through the most important and challenging days of my life! Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Mount Sinai west! Florentina hanisch

Dirty hospital The ER rooms should be cleaned and disinfected after each patient. However , at mount Sinai they just remove the bed and leave everything else dirty. I guess the rules of hygiene don't apply anymore

My husband died after surgery while in the care of the doctors at this hospital. I told staff repeatedly that he was not acting normally. I was repeatedly ignored. I called nursing staff several times from home to check on my husband, I was hung up on repeatedly, told that they couldn't share info due to HIPAA laws even though my husband had signed paperwork making me his health proxy. I left messages with nursing staff for his doctor my messages were either never given to the doctors caring for my husband or blatantly ignored by them. His surgical drain was consistently full and no one came to empty it. While he was still coherent enough to talk he complained constantly about the doctors and nursing staff. I believe their carelessness caused his death. He walked into that hospital looking completely normal with a small cancer on his liver and left in a body bag.

MATERNAL FETAL EXAMINATION UNIT - Canā€™t say enough good things about this newly renovated unit, especially after having had a disappointing experience at Lenox Hill. The attached collage with 3 photos is from Lenox Hillā€™s Maternal Fetal Examination Unit wing/lobby/area. All other photos were taken at Mt. Sinai West. The bathrooms at Lenox Hill were comparable to a gas station rest room. Absolutely filthy. The subsequent photos are from Mount Sinai West - HUGE difference! Cleanliness and up-to-date equipment are paramount and Mt. Sinai far exceeds what Lenox Hill has to offer. Also, the staff at Mt. Sinai West were much more kind and pleasant. I received several congratulations and experienced better attitudes. Better facilities attract better talent and create better work atmospheres - affecting employee moods. Possibly a coincidence but nonetheless, contributed positively to my experience.

I went to the cardiology dept at this location. The doctor is great but other admins are just quite lazy. The doctor scheduled me a test but they said they are out for lunch and let me wait until they are back. I am still hungry at that moment and was waiting for 2 hours. 2 weeks later, I received the bill from this hospital. It bills me ~300 dollars for the conclusion that the pain is unspecified. I attempted to contact the hospital but it turns out that they are super rude on that. There is no direct point of contact on my issue. I contacted the customer service people of this hospital. In their reply, they even mess up with my gender. I can't imagine how careless they are. I think hospitals should be places operated carefully. Can you trust anybody who is not careful at all? Stay away from this hospital.

This review is for Dr Joseph Bax. There is no other place to review him. Dr. Bax is such a kind man and so professional and much more knowledgable than any physiatrist I have seen at other hospitals. I have seen some at fancy pants hospitals that didn't know half as much as him! Plus he doesn't try to prescribe a bunch of un- necessary meds or procedures. I highly recommend him! As for Mount Sinai West well 4 stars because they have some issues. One of them is they don't have a real hospital blood lab they sold their blood labs to Lab Corps and the problem is they only do certain tests but not some important ones. I had to actually go to another hospital and pay 500.00 cash because they don't take my insurance. Lab Corp is limited in what they can do. Otherwise my experience has been good mainly because of the doctors. I have found the doctors there to have integrity such as Dr Bax, Dr Patterson and Dr. Vulcano. World class doctors!

If I could give negative stars I would. I brought my son here because he had a foreign object stuck in his nose. He clearly was having drainage and a foul odor coming out of his nose and mouth. The resident on call at the ER comes in with a flashlight and tells me itā€™s pus and swelling, prescribes antibiotics. I told him thatā€™s was false, this child has something stuck and we both can see it. He discharges me from the hospital and I come home and decided to do it myself since This place has incompetent doctors. As my 2 year old son slept, I took a pair of tweezers and pulled out a gigantic piece of cotton!?!? If this hospital thinks theyā€™re going to charge me 2-4K for their incompetence, they have something coming. This is what I pulled out of his tiny nose. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN THIS PLACE!!! I will be filing a complaint.

DON'T GO THERE! ANYWHERE BUT THERE! THE ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR WAS THE ONLY ONE WAS WAS KIND AND SHOWED ANY COMPASSION FOR MY AUNT! GREAT GUY! Emergency room is horrible! My 90 year old Aunt with dementia fractured her shoulder. Came in first 2 hours everything routine. After X-rays my Aunt needed a CT Scan. Tool them 5 hours to get the CT Scan and 3 hours to give her pain medication. Desk nurse was rude told me she was just given my Aunt as a patient and just came back from her break. Other nurses on the floor too busy on their phone to pay attention to anything or anyone. If I would have brought my aunt into a busy emergency room I would completely understand but this is a very quiet day and there is not much going on. Everybody is so lackadaisical and could care less about the patients. No compassion for anyone I am so disgusted I should have taken her to Lenox Hill Hospital. But EMS convince me this was closer. STAY AWAY!!!!

They also have a birth registrar on-prem to take care of birth certificates for the newborn. Excellent and quality care. Billing department is the worst. Make sure to review your bill for any unexpected claims and charges. Their billing helpline is not prompt either.

Went into labor and delivery with my loved one on 2/21/24 around 4am. There was an older African American woman with glasses black frames, at reception. She removed her name tag so that is the only way to describe her. She was extremely rude. Asking why are we here when you can clearly tell she was in labor. Had her phone out flipping through social media. It was clear that we were interrupting her. When another front desk person came, her attitude improved.

My wife gave birth here and the care was good but getting the birth certificate afterwards was difficult. We called and emailed probably every second day but it still took around 2 months for the hospital to send the birth details to the state. So we had to delay our trip home. On the other hand they are very efficient at sending the bill.

I actually had a great experience giving birth to my son here. The nurses were warm and helped me a lot during my stay. I gave 2 stars is because my son was born in the middle of January, and the Registrar spelled my son's name incorrectly due to a paper-based application form. We went back right away and asked to change the name immediately (b/c the WRONG name also got printed on the social security info.). Since February, we still have not been able to reach anyone to get my son's birth certificate revised! My husband and I have been trying to contact this department for months. We visited the hospital and called and emailed several times but have NEVER received a single response! We do realize that the pandemic may very well have delayed this process, but no response to this matter since February is UNACCEPTABLE as we have patiently factored in plenty of time for them to respond since then! Very disappointing and don't know what else could be done to get this resolved. We needed to process my son's passport application (and all other key official documents) in order to visit his grandparents. Now because of this, we don't know when and how things can be planned and proceeded...

The female employee checking ER visitor's temperature today in the afternoon was very rude to my mother. My mother was filling out the visitor form and wrote her name slightly beyond the column but still left enough space to write down her phone number next to it. After my mother finished, I was next in line to fill in the form. I could hear the employee was taking a personal call and was loud enough for me to hear her say snide remarks about my mother not following directions over something so small as filling a form outside of the intended columns. No matter what the circumstance is, attitude like this is unprofessional and inappropriate. Especially when employees are disrespecting visitors on a personal call while working. In healthcare especially, employees no matter what position should exhibit compassion and hospitality in a client facing role. Please train your staff as I can tell there are other folks on here who also shared poor experiences with them.

This hospital almost killed me !!!! I was admitted on a Sunday for high blood pressure they had me on this magnesium drip for two days as I was in labor and they told me the only side effects was drowsiness and fatigue. I ended up having an emergency c section because I wasnā€™t dilating they told me I would only feel tugging from the c section I felt EVERY THING and I told them that and they did not listen. Hour later I started to bleed I told the nurse who said it was normal but the bleeding became uncontrollable . I began to hemorrhage and had to go under emergency surgery to stop the bleeding they didnā€™t even explain what happened until I started to ask questions days after my surgeries and a doctor admitted that magnesium drip is a high percentage in hemorrhage. That is so neglectful not to disclose that information I trusted mines and my babies life in this hospital. They discharged with a blood pressure of 157/100 I asked what can be done to lower and they told me it was okay . I went for my postpartum appointment to have my blood pressure at 180/100 and had to get readmitted to the hospital. It took them 7 hours to get my blood pressure down. They shouldā€™ve never discharged me without blood pressure medicine in the first place. If you want good prenatal care or labor and delivery experience go to another place.

I went here to give birth because my midwife office partnered with this hospital and it was absolutely horrible. I have never experience medical negligence before my visit but i quickly found out after being in labor for 7 hours and no access to a delivery room. I arrived at 8pm, there were no nurses but this one poor nurse running around, the lady in the room next to me GAVE BIRTH in the triage room. I labored in the triage until 2am with no access to an epidural, the only reason i got a room was because my midwife forced me into a room. At one point my contractions were so bad and i went to use the bathroom and i had such a bad contraction that i peed on the floor, within that pee there was blood, the nurses told me ā€œthatā€™s normalā€. it was not normal. i also had preeclampsia and i was not being monitored whatsoever. NO ONE came into the triage room to check on me, i sent my partner out to ask for an update over five times at least, each time he went out there was no nurse at the station, and he would wait and wait and still no nurse. This isnā€™t even the worst of it, i went to 9CM AND 2+ WITH NO EPIDURAL OR ACCESS TO AN EPIDURAL. I told the nurses that i was in excruciating pain and needed an epidural and a room, every time i asked them they said it could be hours. At one point the nurse told me thereā€™s a room open but they were saving it for someone who was more emergent. I WAS 9CM ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH and on top of that, within all those hours NO ONE did a cervix check on me. when i was put into a room the triage nurse came in and was said ā€œi didnā€™t know you were 9cm you were so quietā€ are you kidding me? I will never EVER recommend this hospital to anyone, im 20 years old and was told by my midwife to look into a doula because of the fact that iā€™m so young and also a minority that i may run into medical negligence but i had no idea it would be to this extent. However i will say my labor was great, because of my midwife and the nurse there, i pushed my daughter out in 30 minutes. The postpartum stay was also good, there were a few nurses that i would ask things and then they would never come back and i would have to ask multiple nurses but i did have this one nurse that was amazing. i was there from tuesday-thursday and this nurse was there for the entire night time of my stay, she was amazing, i believe her name was kristen or christina but she was an angel. Anything i asked she always came back with and if she didnā€™t have an answer to my question she would bring in someone with an answer. The food actually was decent and overall my stay was good, just labor and delivery triage was so horrible that i will never ever even think of going back to this hospital.

I went to their detox center for a few days and the it felt like a psych ward meets prison. No one listened. One of the other patients threatened to kill me, so I reported it to the head nurse and suggested that she be relocated to the psych ward instead of the detox center, but that didn't happen and she continued to follow me around. Then another patient who probably had severe mental health issues kept threatening to assault everyone. Again, nothing was done. What they did do was discharge anyone who had the ability to speak out against these atrocities. This isnā€™t a detox center, itā€™s a spillover of the psych unit. If youā€™re looking for actual mental health care and to heal from your addictions. PLEASE go anywhere but here. I was fortunate to make a few good friends here, we all left before our official discharge dates, because this was one of the most terrifying, unsupportive environments I have ever been in. 0/10 recommend to anyone. You will leave here with more trauma than you came in with. Full disclosure, Iā€™m a Columbia student who has been to several treatment centers. I cannot even find the words to describe how awful this experience was.

This place doesn't even deserve a star. I am completely and utterly disgusted by the lack of compassion and sympathy the staff have at this hospital. I thought this hospital was one of the best but I am completely horrified to have asked for my husband to be sent to this hospital. My husband was admitted by ambulance. I am stuck in Canada with my children while my husband is alone at this hospital. I have called to get any kind of updates such is he alive? Is he being taken care of ? Only to be met with the most unwelcoming, incredibly mean, rude staff. I literally just spoke to someone who told me if i want nformation on his status I should just come by the hospital. I told him I am stuck in Canada, he literally hung up on my face how is this even possible ? Aren't nurses and doctors supposed to be kind, informative, compassionate? What the hell is this. This is horrendous.and let me tell you I've been above and beyond polite. An absolute nightmare. I am horrified and literally haven't slept in 2 days. This hospital needs to hire new staff and retrain staff to have some kind of heart The level of attitude is disgusting. As a doctor working in a hospital in Canada I am shocked. Honestly shocked. I was told his doctor would call me around 1 am. I called at 7 am.and was met with severe attitude and told again that the doctor would call me soon. It's currently 344 pm and still no word from any doctor. When I called again the doctor hung up on me. I was SO polite. Is this normal still no status on my husband as his phone is dead with no charged battery. IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE MOUNT SINAI. How do I know my husband's needs are being met if you can't even tell me he is okay ??????

By far, the worst place ever recommended! The wait time is ridiculously long, and they never have enough staff because of call outs. They need to hire new staff or have on call ppll or something. 2.5 hrs is not ok stressing a pregnant woman out. They always call you to reschedule because someone isn't properly doing their job. It's just a headache at this point.

My grandmother with Alzheimer's and dementia recently needed a feeding tube. After a stressful month at our previous hospital, we transferred her here for the procedure. However, a week later, the surgery hadn't been done, and tensions rose between the doctor, my brother, and me. We were told my grandmother refused, despite her mental state and our prior plans. Frustrated and dealing with a doctor who was being very short with us, we felt her recovery was stalled. Thankfully, Dr. Salonia arrived. He was kind, caring, listened attentively, addressed our concerns, and instilled confidence in my grandmother's recovery. Unlike any other doctor, Dr. Salonia truly cared, making a world of difference for my family during this difficult time.

I gave birth at Mt Sinai because my midwife team delivers there and I was so disappointed in their facilities! The staff was fine and did the best they could but you would think such a well-known and highly-trafficked hospital in Manhattan would be better managed. There was confusion and problems from understaffing from the moment I was admitted to triage to the moment I was discharged. Here are a few examples: I waited in triage for 10 hours before getting access to a room for labor. When my IV was placed, the nurse spilled my blood all over the sheets and just left it there. I asked to use the shower in my labor room as hydrotherapy and was told no because I would need to place a pre-order for it. After moving to the postpartum room, we tried to use the shower but there was no hot water. A family member from out-of-town called the gift shop to have someone sent to my room after delivery and was told they only do deliveries from Tuesday to Friday. The registrarā€™s office does not care that you need proof of birth within 30 days for insurance purposes, we called and emailed many times with no response. Luckily my midwife team connected me to the patient care coordinator who helped facilitate the process. Overall, we were disappointed in Mt Sinai and would never recommend giving birth there when there are many other hospitals to choose from in NYC.

I had my C-section at Mount Sinai West. I had amazing care since the moment I walked in. Security let straight up stairs because I was in labor. I got immediate care, the health care workers respected my decision to have a vaginal delivery even when I showed signs of distress. After doing all they could to respect my wishes, I decided on a C section because my situation was being life threating. The care I received during and after delivery was above and beyond. Hopefully, I wasn't just lucky and you mom's to be get the same amazing care because you deserve it. Haha, labor is painful enough.

My son was born at MSW 3 months ago. I had a very good experience. But then, I ordered my sonā€™s birth certificate and realised that the hospital had made a mistake on my sonā€™s first name. Since April, I have been trying to have this mistake corrected - without any result! I have called the hospital at least once a day for 2 months, left several messages and emails, and still no answer nor correction! Itā€™s been 3 months now and my son has no official ID... itā€™s unbelievable!

I'm giving them 3 stars bc the dr we had in the ER was great at keeping me informed ( although Iā€™ll never understand why my brother wasnā€™t admitted for his problem of passing blood into the bag) but the woman who worked in the ER admin around 10:30am on May 24 2020 was not and she gets 0-1 star. She didn't allow me to sit and wait for my brother to come out of ER even though the seats were clearly designated for sitting per Covid regs. I had to sit outside on concrete steps for 4 hours w no bathroom. The security guard asked if I was allowed back in which tells you there are no rules for arbitrarily kicking people out. I don't say this lightly, but no one would clap for Her. She should be in a non client facing position or work in another field. Maybe the hospital star rating would improve if you treated clients better than dirt.

I had hand surgery at this location with Dr. Jaehon Kim. For a year I hadn't been able to shake hands, turn door knobs, use a pepper mill and anything else that required use of my thumb. My hand healed and its use returned in the predicted time span. Two and a half years later, I am still pain free. During the months before surgery Dr. Kim had time for me, explained my diagnosis clearly, explained alternatives for treatment and always treated me with respect and good humor. On the day of surgery not only was I treated with respect and consideration by the entire staff but everyone I encountered was helpful, informed and friendly. Kudos also to Meg Rosenblatt and her team of anesthesiology team.

I recently just move in to the neighborhood and my daughter had an accident in school, she slip and injury her ankle. I took her to the Emergency room to make sure her ankle was not fractured. The emergency staff were very supportive, very friendly and professional. Thank you everyone, the security guard, patient insurance coordinator, the front desk Nurse, the front desk Clerk, the triage nurse, doctor, the physical assistant and the radiology technician for the great service and making my daughter feel better šŸ™šŸ¼.

Most of the people working here are not very nice at all. Especially on the labor and delivery floor. I cannot believe some of these people are allowed to work with babies. They will try to bully you to do things you are not comfortable with, and if you do not consent they will give you the bare minimum treatment. No bedside manner at all. One of the doctors here -Catherine Seaman told me if I donā€™t consent to a c-section, Iā€™m refusing medical treatment and I can just go home and let my baby die there. Very classy. If you can avoid this hospital to deliver a baby, it will probably be in your best interest. If you cannot avoid it, make sure you know your rights. They might not like it, but they have to respect it.

Receiving prenatal care and giving birth here was THE worst experience of my life(besides ultimately having my son). Wrong and contradicting information was constantly given. I felt as though I was just a number. This almost cost me my life. I probably have the rights to sue. Please consider researching and KNOWING YOUR RIGHTS before entering any hospital care. 0 stars for this hospital and doctors. Nurses were nice of course. Too bad theyā€™re not in charge.

My father is currently staying at the hospital on the 14th floor. I must say the staff are horrible. No housekeeping that cleans the room. The nurses are rude and forgetful. They don't clean my fathers sheets. He gets different doctors each day. The doctors aren't forthcoming with information, one doctor says one thing and another doctor says another. It just seems that they aren't caring enough or understanding. One says he has lymphoma, another says viral infection, another says sars. Its all a emotional and heart breaking experiencešŸ˜”šŸ˜ šŸ˜”šŸ˜¢šŸ˜

Mt Sinai - They wondered 40 years in the desert. Why would i even consider coming here? The worst experience of any hospital system ever! It took 30 minutes for them to check me through the front door. If you took all 3 'people' sitting at the desk the IQ wouldn't be double digits. Now 1.5 hrs waiting past my appointment time. Considering allowing my condition to kill me rather than ever come to this stupidville ever again.

It is great to go to appts. there because of Covid it is not filled with so many patients, you must have an appt. and they do not schedule as many patients like before Covid was, so no longer waiting that much to see a provider, it's quite a different atmosphere,...where I go particularly, they also need to keep doctor's on staff, to much turnover or not enough availability for patients to get services, ie. GYN, they haven't had a gynecologist full time for God knows how long, once a week is not enough to serve so many women who are need of a specialist in the field of Gynecology,...otherwise where I go is a pretty good place, I am fortunate to have a good PCP, I believe that Mt. Sinai takes all kinds of insurances, but you may call ahead when setting up appt. to find out what is accepted, where I go they have a great Social work dept. and outreach services, Metrocards are provided upon requests, hrs. of operation has changed due to Covid, so again call ahead for this info,...Therapy services are given here too via video, I'm not sure about in person sessions, again call ahead for any and all info if you are in need of services from Mt. Sinai West.

To say there needs improvement would be an understatement. Went for surgery 1st time: had to wait for lunch until 3pm. Better yet, didn't get dinner until 8, which consisted of a PB&J & a turkey sandwich with about 2 slices of meat. Didn't get a room until almost 9pm. 2nd time in, I didn't get some meds I needed but got a water pill which kept me up most of the night ( didn't know it was that or wouldn't have accepted it), Nursing tried giving me ANOTHER one the next morning! However!! while keeping my rating above, I do need to say that the doctors & nurses, perhaps excepting what written above, were excellent. I was in for a DBS surgery for my tremor, & under the care of Dr. Koppel. He & the main people on his team I've seen- Brendan Sullivan, PA & Meredith Spadaccia, NP, both courteous, professional, good sense of humor, & patient with this particular patient. They are gold mines in the hospital. The biggest problem I had- not with them - was that I had to give my information several times; it's like there's no communication/ record sharing from area 1 to area 2 to area 3. I continued with Mt. S W because that's where those medical professionals. Just wish the rest of the hospital operated as they did; on a scale of 1-10, they're at least a 22. Lastly, back in the recovery room, I was given an ample amount of water & graham crackers, but again, no food. Seriously????

The strangest thing happend to me in this hospital, I went to it during my vacation in US due to infection in under arm wound, the doctor checked it, removed the sutures, and pescribed medicication. When I went to cashier ( after 15 muinits ) he asked for 1,350 USD! It was so much overpriced but that was not the surprise. When I went back home, my insurance company asked for itemized invoice for that receipt, and when I contacted the hospital the invoice was only 1000!!! After many follow ups, they failed to provide invoice matching the paid amount. They over charged me and the employee took extra 350 $. Then all my claim rejected because I didn't have invoice matching the receipt. I followed up for two months with no result, there are no invoices for the 1,350$ I paid, only for 1000! you asked me to send email and gave me link to pay bills, please provide an email address i can send to

This place was a little chaotic when I got there. Possibly related to my admission time 6:30 - 7:30 PM (change of shifts, dinner time) Good things: patients weren't wandering around; my admission was fairly quick 2 to 3 minutes; did not wait too long before talking to the night physician 2 minutes; by the time I realized this, an outside physician was already preparing me for the emergency procedure; the outside team attending me was very professional and knowledgeable; the procedure took less than 45 minutes as promised. Bad things: not everyone was wearing a mask; some patients and staff members were not wearing a mask; I did not feel safe with my health; You do not want a patient to leave your facility thinking/feeling worst than went they first came in; I was considered immune deficient so that should have been a concern; also I am not too sure it was common to have my procedure done in such condition with little to no privacy and among other patients.

This morning came to be with my dad during his outpatient surgery, get to the security desk ā€œTHEREā€™S ALREADY SOMEONE UP THERE WITH HIM.ā€ No sir, there isnā€™t. ā€œSHEā€™S ON MY LIST AS BEING UPSTAIRS ONLY TWO PEOPLE ALLOWED. Text my mom knowing full well sheā€™s not upstairs. I tell him sheā€™s not upstairs so he calls upstairs and they left him on hold (guessing heā€™s a nuisance). I once again confirm sheā€™s not upstairs and he finally lets me up. I asked him if they track when companions leave, ā€œwell no.ā€ OK so then how do you know who is upstairs??? PS I went upstairs and there were several people who had more than one companion. I understand this happening during the throes of Covid, but now itā€™s ridiculous. Then I was told in the waiting room that I could have my drink with me, but I would have to step out of the waiting room to drink it. The ONLY reason we come here is for the doctor. Get your processes sorted.

My dad is hospitalized right now and Iā€™m writing this review because I donā€™t even know how to handle the frustration I feel. To start with, they failed to give him an important medication for his dementia since the day he arrived even though I gave them a full medication list, and they already had that list in the system anyhow since his internist is with Mt Sinai. When the mistake was discovered it took some arguing and needling on my part to get them to administer the medication as soon as possible, because sudden withdrawal from that medication can cause intense hallucinations, which he has been having. Thatā€™s horrifying enough but there are also other issues as well. He was on the 9th floor when he arrived and I asked that he be moved to the window after his roommate was discharged. They said possibly - then didnā€™t do it, and when I asked why the answer just seemed to be along the lines of ā€œtoo much hassleā€. Now we are paying $600 a night for a private room, and the food orders each night are missing items and never as I had ordered them, which is important because getting my dad to eat has been a struggle. If they serve him mashed potatoes that I didnā€™t ask for and omit the soup that he likes, itā€™s more likely he wonā€™t eat it. For $600 a night? Most of the nurses are kind and I hope the doctors are trying their best but there doesnā€™t seem to be a good system of double checking things to ensure crucial mistakes arenā€™t being made. I also get the sense that theyā€™ve only got residents and interns working on his case because those are the only people theyā€™ve been sending me when I ask for updates .. and at times Iā€™ve even been told things like ā€œI am not really familiar with your dadā€™s case but they asked me to speak to you.ā€ What? Why not send someone who is familiar? I feel very powerless here and the person suffering unfortunately is my dad, who canā€™t advocate for himself

I started going to Mount Sinai West in 2019 when I gave birth to my daughter. I have been to this hospital more times than I like to say but my stay here is always pleasant. The nurses on the 10th floor are amazing and I couldnt ask for better care than the one I received at Mount Sinai West!!!

I was taking care of through my entire pregnancy at this location and I also gave birth there honestly I had a great experience, it was in year 2020 therefore appointments were a bit far apart but even after birth they always called me to check on me and the baby; provided me with some free stuff postpartum and diaper for the baby. Nice comfortable and spacious room, I truly enjoyed the experience.

Last week 8/15, I accompanied an elderly neighbor, former ballet teacher, (who had trouble breathing only when she tried to lay down). She had an EKG then we waited for over an hour in a freezing cold individual waiting room. The nurse took blood, a covid test & then walked us over to another place for a chest X-ray. I asked what we should do after the X-ray. She said, ā€˜Her Dr. will get the resultsā€™. We went to her GP 8/21. He told us the hospital report said she has covid AND that she signed herself out. I was able to tell him I WAS with her! She didnā€™t sign herself out!! No one told us she had COVID! My God! They dismissed an 87 year old woman - with COVID & didnā€™t tell her AND sent her home with all the EKG magnets still stuck to her! There should be an advocate who explains protocol to patients!

I delivered my first child this June 2023 and Nurse Dorothy Chin made my stay beyond great. Nurse Dorothy Chin I can tell loves what she does. She has a great sense of urgency and a genuine heart to help. My husband and I felt we wanted to take her with us on our last day. Being a new mom, I feel confident because she taught me alot...from breast feeding to taking care of myself post delivery. I really hope to have her as our nurse again when we welcome baby number 2.

Doesnā€™t even deserve a star. Had the ABSOLUTE most traumatic experience delivering my first child at this hospital. I was sent to the hospital for high blood pressure, where I would be induced. They barely ran any labs and the nurses were COMPLETELY unaware that I had low lying placenta. They induced me with pitocin and my placenta ruptured immediately, causing me to bleed out. Their faces were in panic and literally a nurse asked me if I had low lying placenta - I couldnā€™t believe this was information they werenā€™t aware of. Doctors and nurses on the floor rushed in and they gave me oxygen to put me under for an emergency c section. Nobody communicated anything to me. My OB wasnā€™t there and it was such a terrifying experience. The care was just okay afterwards but for them to not have been informed could have cost me my life. After losing SO much blood, I was only given iron when I should have received a blood transfusion. This was almost 5 years ago and I still suffer from really bad anemia and had to get a transfusion 2 years ago. True medical negligence - absolutely hate this hospital

This is not a hospital but a shelter for nuts and homeless people who will make you feel uncomfortable with their behaviors. After being admitted and still spending 4 days at the ER, I finally got a room assigend at Mount Sinai West. The first room that I was in had a creepy guy coming right next to my bed to watch me and to go through my bag while I tried to sleep. When I caught him, I requested to change rooms. This time, I had a mentally ill homeless as a roommate who yelled at everyone and everything and had his TV on the loudest possible volume 24/7. He also refused to leave, though he got discharged for over a day already. There's no way you can recover at this hospital. Nurses are powerless or don't care anymore, while others are desperately waiting in line to get admitted to a room. Though I was still sick, I asked to get discharged just to get some rest at home! Avoid this hospital at all cost!

DO NOT give birth at this hospital. They are understaffed in every single department. You wait a long time to be seen in triage, even if youā€™re in active labor. I was left in excruciating pain for 3.5 hours in triage, unable to get a bed and an epidural in L&D because they didnā€™t have beds available. Some of the nurses lack bedside manner and empathy as they deal with women in pain during a vulnerable time. For my cervical exam I had a nurse jam her fingers in my vagina it was the most painful experience only for her to tell me sheā€™s not sure what sheā€™s feeling and would need another nurse to come in and check. This is my second child never have I had a cervical exam hurt that bad. It happened to me twice. Upon discharge I was told a proof of birth letter would be emailed to me. I never received the letter, but yet was inundated with emails asking for monetary donations. My daughter is now two months old I have yet to receive her birth certificate or social. When I called to follow-up I was told they are backed up and short staff and there is nothing they can do about it I just have to wait. I honestly regret picking this hospital. I do not recommend.

My daughter was transferred from another hospital with a ectopic pregnancy the staff already saw all labs prior to her arrival and at first tried to tell the other hospital to administer drugs to her but then Decided to take her .once she arrived she sat for three hours and was not seen I had to call the ER and spoke to a DR.Kim he said oh they busy and the Gyn doctor will get to her I ask DR.Kim a few hrs ago yā€™all just wanted them to give her meds now your stating she we not sure if it really is and we are monitoring until someone can see her which is a lie because I have been on the phone with her since she got there when ask about patient relation he said he would transfer me I was sent else where of course . But no worries I got the number myself and will be going to eyewitness news this is a current situation 2/29/2024 I will update here ā€¦ if you donā€™t have to go here donā€™t they will leave your love ones to die and then have an attitude if you ask questions !!!!
