Great place for lunch if you're not on a budget. The fish & chips were delicious and the burger was amazing as well. The service was friendly without being overbearing. Our tab was $50 without tip for just two people and only water to drink. The food was worth it, though! Plus, we loved the atmosphere.

So while dinning here, my friend’s hair literally caught ON FIRE! THANK GOD for another friend put the fire out with her BARE HANDS otherwise, I don’t know if my friend would have made it. This restaurant has candles on the table and throughout the restaurant as open flames, it’s a complete safety hazard. They put a candle on a bookshelf BEHIND seating right near someone head. The manager, Chris Page, response wasn’t remorseful at all, instead he said “we should have been aware of our surroundings and said that we’re were sitting there for hours and should have seen the candle. He was literally going back and forth with us about taking my friends meal off of the check and barely asked if she was okay. When he FINALLY said he would comp our check, he applauded and laughed as if we were putting on some sort of performance to get free food or something. It was disgusting. My friend’s hair was literally on fire. She lost a lot of hair. This is a traumatic event and there no apology from anyone. I’m really disappointed in this establishment. NYU students come here all the time so often, and this experience soured that connection.

We came here because we live nearby and were too lazy to go far given we were up from 4am for the Macy's Parade. Therefore, no real expectations. But White Oak is fantastic! Surprised people don't talk about it more. The food is great and not that expensive relative for these sorts of things in Manhattan. The Mac n Cheese was 🔥 and the Thanksgiving Turkey special was spectacular. French onion soup was solid but probably the least exciting dish. Service was good, cocktails sharp and the drinks selection broad. Decor within the venue was beautiful as well. Will have to turn this into my local go to!

Celebrated my friend’s birthday and it was one of the best times ever!!! The host at the door and our server were beyond lovely! The food was heavens along with the drinks!! The atmosphere was super vibey!! It is very hard to find a place that checks all the boxes here in Manhattan! ✌🏼 I am definitely going to back to taste every single dish on the menu and will bring friends along! Thank you to the White Oak Tavern crew for the best night!!!! 🫶🏼I will be back!😍

This is one of my new favorite restaurants. The holiday decor was a special touch, and the food and drink was delicious. We had the cocktail flight, followed by the burrata, a crab cake, fish and chips, and the drunken donuts. If I had to pick a favorite from the night, I recommend the crab cake, as it was full of chunky crab meat!

Hostesses were rude. Terrible attitudes. We got there at 6:45 to be seated without a reservation. Hostesses explained they needed the table at 8pm for a reservation. We told them we would be very quick. Sat down at 6:50 and ordered immediately. We were done by 7:20. the buss boy literally stood over my shoulder waiting until I was done eating my food to take my plate. The weird thing is…my burger was watery. The steak was covered in chimichurri sauce. Food was just okay. Not really worth coming back for. My server was beyond nice!! The restaurant has a really nice ambience with low lighting and decor. It’s too bad I had this experience because I just moved to the neighborhood and I definitely do not want to go back!

We stumbled upon this location as we strolled through the streets of Manhattan. We decided to stop by for a quick lunch and happy hour drinks before heading out to our scheduled engagement. Very spacious corner pub with your typical English vibes and decor.

The Bacon Mac and Cheese was very good. I had a Threes Brewing ale of some sort, which was tart and heady, yet also a solid beer. I've always liked the earthy vibe at White Oak, and that has not changed. Nice enough bartender; not enough pretty ladies to flirt with but maybe I'll have better luck next time around.

Everything a great " tavern" should be ; warm and welcoming, lively atmosphere and an expansive selection of beers and wines. The White Oak takes it over the top! The bar area does not dominate the room, but generates a festive atmosphere in the ample open seating areas, as well as the quieter cozy nooks. The menu features inventive twists on traditional fare as well as delicious upscale dishes. The our small family group enjoyed a very memorable birthday celebration there and we look forward to our next visit!

I've had the distinct pleasure of dining at White Oak Tavern, located near Washington Square Park. This establishment stands out not only for its delightful culinary offerings but also for the exceptional care and attention they extend to their patrons, including my mother. The staff at White Oak Tavern truly go above and beyond, ensuring that she is well taken care of, which speaks volumes about their commitment to community and customer service. The food and drinks here are consistently enjoyable, featuring a menu that caters to a variety of tastes with dishes that are both well-executed and flavorful. Beyond the cuisine, what truly sets this tavern apart is the atmosphere. It's a space that's been thoughtfully designed to be both inviting and comfortable, creating an environment that encourages relaxation and enjoyment. The service complements this ambiance perfectly, with a kind, attentive staff that makes every dining and drinking experience memorable. In an era where the personal touch is often overlooked, White Oak Tavern excels at making guests feel genuinely welcomed and valued. Whether you're a local resident or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by for a meal or drink. It's not just the quality of the food and drinks that will impress you, but the warmth and care that permeate every aspect of this establishment.

Really cool spot with great seating along the windows enveloping the center oval bar. The host was so kind and found us at the bar to let us know a table seat opened up. We moved over, ordered the steak and eggs, a cocktail and the house lager. The ambience was warm and lively and it made for a great break from walking in the cold

This place is absolutely charming. So cozy. The drinks are delicious, and the atmosphere can't be beat. We lived across the street but during COVID so we didn't get to visit then, but very glad we made it eventually as it's the perfect neighborhood bar.

Beautiful, traditional aesthetic in the neighborhood of New York University… best chicken pot pie comfort food in New York City! The apple cobbler is delicious for a generous, tasty dessert. Beautiful place is meet my son and have a conversation while visiting NYU.

It was a date night out with my husband last night, and I fell in love with this place. The prices are fairly affordable, the atmosphere, the music, the decor, oh yes! It has been a favorite spot for about 20 years back when it was Caliente Cab. But this establishment was perfect. You have to come by and enjoy some great dinning here. You won't regret it!!Coming back soon White Oak!❤️

Great food and even better drinks. I loved that they had mocktail options. This drink was a pineapple, orange, lemon, lime mocktail with a dehydrated orange garnish. It was delicious and very classy. I had the fish and chips to eat which was a little greasy but very very good. Friendly staff too. I would come here again.

Great spot for cocktails and dinner for a reasonable price. Noisy but fun atmosphere with good service. It's a bit crowded and hard to move around, but worth it. I had The Graduate, a gin cocktail in a gorgeous shade of lavender. It was balanced and highly drinkable. For dinner I had the best chicken pot pie of my life. My friend's cocktail was also great as were the sliders he ordered.

The vibes here are so good. I went around the holidays and not only were the decorations gorgeous, they also had a special peppermint drink that was delicious. It’s usually a little busy since it’s right by NYU, but I’ve always been able to find a seat at the bar. Definitely a place to check out.

I will travel anywhere for the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale from Lexington Brewery, thank god they have it. Also - delicious bites and chill atmosphere. It’s nice to sit at the bar, grab a drink and get some work done - love this place!

Amazing Aged Burger with caramelized onions and truffle aioli! The grilled cheese was delicious also. It had jalapeños in it on sourdough bread but was really well balanced with a nice red sauce for dipping. And the fries were the way hand-cut fries should be- fantastic!

What a jewel, a real surprise. We just visited the art show in Washington Square and came in for a quick lunch. Food is great, every dish was a wow. Especially the vegetable lasagna. Service was quick and courteous. Definitely a place to come back to.

Great food, staff and vibe! I dropped in for a quick bite and a few drinks before meeting friends. I brought my daughter and her bestie in from AZ for a weekend and this was our first stop. Cody was the BEST! We wanted to come back the next day, but couldn’t carve out the time before heading to the airport—until next time!

Came here for Brunch and everything was great. We had a great table outside in the shade. I tried the cocktail sampler which was cool and something I'd not seen before. The food was also good, especially the Mac and Cheese which was one of the best I've had in a while. Service was also excellent and attentive and I'd thoroughly recommend this place.

Super yummy food! Burger was on point and the fries nice and crispy. The food came in a timely manner which was important because we were with two toddlers. Chef came to check on us and was super nice! Doubt I’ll be back because hardly in that neighborhood but will definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

Really cute decor inside. Highly recommend the crispy Brussel sprouts for dessert and the mushroom Bolognese for dinner. Great beer selection as well.

Good place to have a drink and some food with friends. They have a great space to sit w friends or plenty of chairs at the bar. Food is really good and has vegan and gluten free options. The vegetarian lasagna is great. The cocktails are also good. It's a little pricey, but it's a nice place.
