The only good thing about this hotel was the location. Otherwise, it was extremely disappointing and disgusting. Besides the hotel lobby being loud and dark, the room was very unsanitary. There was black mold in the shower, hair (that wasn't mine) on the walls, and a dirty carpet. The A/C + Heat unit made me sick with all the dirty air I was breathing in. The rooms and hallways were small, creepy and old. When I told the front desk about my light bulb in my room being out and the hair on the walls, they only provided a bottle wine as an apology. I don't drink. I do not recommend this place. As someone who has been going to NYC her whole life, please stay somewhere else. The price (which was ridiculously expensive) was totally not worth it. You can find places way nice in the area for cheaper. I'm reading other reviews with people who have the shared experiences and the hotel's team is only apologizing. They need to do better and do more than just say sorry.

The pros: 1. Front desk staff is very friendly, accommodating, and professional. 2. Great location. 3. Rooms are clean. 4. Full-size fridge was awesome. 5. Unique, cool vibe. 6. Reasonably priced. The cons: 1. Lighting is bad (esp for applying makeup), and there is no outlet near the mirror outside the bathroom, so only place to blow dry or style hair with a heating tool is in bathroom. 2. Terrible water pressure in shower. 3. We did not have an accessible room, but the toilet was super high, for some reason. I’m 5’2”, and my feet were dangling off the floor. 4. No chair or desk. Only place to sit was bed. Overall, had a good experience, but probably would not stay again due to the difficulty in getting ready in the room with bad lighting and outlets.

A brilliant hotel! Such big rooms! Lovely gym! Lobby superb for co-work and informal meetings. Great bar at the lobby too. Location is central and fun, but not on the over crowded streets. Great views of the Empire State Building was a nice surprise. Really enjoying my stay here for a conference and business meetings in town.

I unfortunately experienced a multitude of issues during my stay, including: * The room was incredibly dim, it was a really depressing space to be in * There were stains on the wall and dried 'brown' on the toilet seat upon my arrival * There was no hot water one evening which meant no showering after a heatwave in New York * The water ran brown one of the nights, again, meaning no showers * The lifts took a disproportionate amount of time to take you to your floor, one of them broke during my stay leaving one lift to service all 12 floors, for all guests * The bathroom window wasn't frosted, meaning buildings opposite would have full view of me getting out of the shower To be fair, I didn't speak with front desk about these issues as I had a full-on schedule and noted queues at the desk each time I left. I like to think something would've been done about these, but there were too many problems for me to be able to recommend or return to the Ace Hotel.

It might be good when you are on a vacation, since the interior is really cool, but it was one of the worst hotel experiences for me as a business traveller. The problems me and my colleagues have experienced: No desk in some rooms Cleanliness (dusts everywhere) Bedding (it looks cool, but not comfortable at all) Shower (challenging to use hot water) Ventilation (not good) Front desk (the services extremely varies) Laundry service (front desk refused to pick up and let me bring it to the desk. And let me put it into a plastic bag and leave it on the floor all by myself, saying the staff was too busy) Noise from the hallway The location was perfect, by the way.

My friends and I booked a room at the Ace Hotel, located in the center of Manhattan, just steps away from the Flatiron building and Herald Square. We got the Open Loft Suite, which was a massive space and had a beautiful view of the city. The space was very clean, tidy with lots of natural light coming in from the windows. The Ace Hotel staff were all very accommodating and helpful. A big shoutout to Jenn, Christina and Freddy for guiding us through the booking and check-in process! I will certainly be back here again and I recommend this hotel for anyone visiting New York City.

The location is great but the hotel is trying to deliver an old classic New York experience when it is in fact just old. You walk in and the whole place is dark. The shower didn't work properly and the shower curtain rod was barely attached to the wall, room was tiny, the whole room needed a paint job, the walls are thin and you can hear everything - would recommend avoiding it entirely.

I stayed for four nights, and it was a horrible experience. The room wasn't cleaned, even though we didn't put up a 'Do not disturb' sign. I could see stains on my glasses and mugs, which were not cleaned or replaced for two consecutive days (you can clearly see my lip stain on the glass in the attached image) My beds weren't made, and blankets were simply tossed in the corner of the room. And did I mention that it wasn't vacuumed? I had to call the front desk more than five times, and my calls were not answered." I finally got through when I called them from my cell phone, which was picked up right away. Wonder why they didn't answer my calls from my room? I requested immediate housekeeping assistance, and a friendly and helpful lady named Gangtso came to clean my room. Other than her, the front desk and general staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. The location is very good, relatively safe even at night, and conveniently close to the subway station. However, their staff is below average, and I had to wake up during the night due to the excessive noise. The place is overpriced and not worth your hard-earned money. I won't be staying here again.

The lobby and lounge were great. Staff was fine when there was enough of them. Our room (325) felt dark, dim and dingy. Lighting in the room was insufficient to get ready for a night out - could barely see myself in any mirror to put makeup on (even in the bathroom). There was a kettle but no coffee or tea in the room — total miss! Even budget hotels have that available for us. The layout of the room was awkward to maneuver around. Could barely get around the bed because of where the tv was mounted. We booked a multi-view King room and only received a dark view of the alley from the 3rd floor. Room was small and felt dank. There was only 1/2 a roll of toilet paper, the phone to the reception or housekeeping did not work. We had to go to reception and to ask for more toilet paper — that took over 30 minutes to get to us! Overall not a great room experience - but staff and location were nice. I wish I had raised the lack of view/room floor with the staff? But reception desk was always too busy.

The only reason this review is not a single star is because the mattress is comfortable and the staff is nice. The rest is total disarray. The elevator had a puddle from the outside the entire time (it was raining but still). The rooms are extremely dark; if the window is open the sound from the courtyard A/C machine (or who knows what else) is unbearable. The sink in the bathroom was on the verge of collapsing. The bar downstairs is really a club. And the corridors on the floor had a musty smell. In short, nothing like advertised. Excellent marketing, poor reality.

Thank you for a friendly place to stay. My family and I love the funky decor. The lobby is a great place to release tension and restore balance. I met kind strangers (are we really strangers?) that reinforced my faith in humanity. Thank you.

Worst service in all of NYC. They don’t have bottled water in the room, nor tea nor coffee. Room service doesn’t answer and the manager takes their side and refuses to be helpful. I spent 12 hours traveling and I’m exhausted and that’s a terrible experience that’s unlike any other I’ve had in a NYC hotel since Covid. Avoid this place like the plague.

Bad. This is not a great hotel for many reasons. They play EXTREMELY loud music only at night for some reason. Also the rooms are tiny. The “we’re so modern and cool, look at us” façade doesn’t really work. There was rude staff at the coffee shop. Oh, and the best part? The hallway where the rooms were looked like mental asylum. I felt like I should have handcuffs on every time I walked to my room. I added a photo of the hallway. Overall, pretty bad hotel, wouldn’t recommend it.

Not a review writer, but has to be stated. We stayed overnight this past Sat-Sun and were placed in Room 200. I want to share that this room was abysmal, and in no way should be offered as a guest space for which people are paying for with any amount of money. This should be a utility closet or an overnight room for staff, or an emergency/warming room for a freezing cold house-less person in the winter, or for some other triage situation. We paid $450 for one night and heard incessant bass as we were located directly above the lobby and DJ booth. In addition to that, we heard the constant dinging of the elevator doors from the double bank not 4 feet across from the room’s door. We booked a “single” room, not even a “small”, but the size wasn’t the issue. The room is terrible, with tiny clouded windows sealed shut from the wind shaft with which they view. We feel completely ripped off and have never paid for a room of this level of depressing in all our combined years of adulthood. Just awful.

Old yet super chic building, the Ace Hotel has everything for the modern traveler. The bar has a bit of this and that as well as great wifi to get work done. Located in the heart of everything too.

BEWARE! this hotel is located in a rent control building. some of the rooms are still occupied by long time tenants. we stayed in room 1101 and the person living next to it, according to hotel staff, is a deaf tenant…. he or she blasted his/hers radio on max volume all evening/night and after multiple complaints being told “there is nothing we can do” we were told to switch room. so in the middle of the night with 2 kids, one being a baby, we had to switch room!! how can you even put people next to someone like that, i was told this is going on every night?! i asked the hotel staff for a refund next morning, but was told we couldn’t get it and that “it wasn’t the hotels fault”. i mean what the hell, who’s “fault” is it in, the customers???!! Ace being a “luxury” hotel this is the most bizarre hotel experience i have ever had.

I loved staying at the Ace Hotel - this was my second time visiting NYC and it was a bit overwhelming for me, so I loved the fact that I had a hotel in a safe part of town, reasonably priced, with a lovely bar/restaurant downstairs, fantastic customer service and assistance. A man named Juan (not sure of the spelling 😢) helped me find my taxi to the airport and made my stay/checkout super easy. Highly recommend The Ace Hotel!

I loved the vibe of this hotel. Unfortunately by our second night there was no hot water and it was brown. The housekeeping moved a ton of my stuff which I hated. Plus housekeeping would talk SO loud outside of our door in the morning.

The Ace Hotel is funky and hip. On request, every room includes an acoustic guitar —- which I always take advantage of. The front desk was super friendly and atthoughts? The lobby is a destination in itself — an awesome place to work or chill-out — transitioning into a bar in the evening.

I was fortunate to be a guest of Ace NYC soon after its opening in 2009. Twenty-four years later, I am still a loyal visitor and I look forward to the warmth and vitality of the staff and guests every time. The location is fantastic with Union Square, Chelsea, SOHO, and other great communities an easy walk away. Kudos to management for capturing the magic of both efficiency and friendliness. I appreciate you. -Ann Sacks

I love staying at the Ace! The vibes is great. I’m a minimalist so I don’t need a lot. A clean room with a good bed is all I ask for. Everything was clean and comfortable. Only complaints were the heater in my room was way too aggressive for the size. Mid December and I had to turn the heat off entirely to keep the room under 80 degrees. Also be warned that the lighting situation is pretty dim in the rooms.

This place is very cool and feels like an old New York building in a great way, but the rooms are tiny and basically only have a bed. What little storage you're provided is covered with mini-bar items for purchase and it's SUPER dark inside with minimal light. We got great sleep but it was hard to wake up our room was so dark!

Other than a great location, you really don't want to stay here. Gym had a broken air conditioner, so hot. The room was supposed to have a fridge it didn't. They moved us to a room with a refrigerator. Unfortunately it was completely full of overpriced alcohol. It rendered having a fridge useless. We asked them to remove it, they said it would be a 75 dollar fee! 75 dollars to have a functional fridge as advertised, that we paid for 🤦. Someone spilled something all over the elevator. When I told the desk personnel, they said quote " it's probably just coffee so we aren't worried about it". It definitely wasn't coffee, I believe it was motor oil and it had been tracked across the lobby and not cleaned up. The rooms are kinda stuffy. The only way to describe it is a stale smell, like fresh air doesn't get in. The elevator is extremely slow and you might be waiting a full 10 minutes to get on. The location is great so if you want to see Manhattan and it's the only thing in your price range then do it. Not a horrible hotel, just not very good.

I love me an ace hotel, but this was just not a nice experience. In summer, the hotel is dark, gloomy, hardly any natural light, the quality of cleaning was poor and there were cockroaches in the room! We only got one bar of soap for a week stay, and the room smelled musty. I hope they can get back to the level of quality we know and love from the brand.

  • 3/5 Katy G. 5 months ago on Google
Fantastic location, lovely service but the hotel is dark, rooms more trendy than practical/functional and a lack of insulation on the windows and thin walls made it noisy and draughty. Love the theme, the decor is funky but they need some proper lighting so you can see properly (only lamps in the rooms and the lobby bar is so dark you can’t even see what you are doing), and put some double glazing in so it’s possible to sleep.

If you are visiting, and debating on a place to this. This place is it! Very central and convenient to lots of things in the city. It's walking distance, it's safe.. as long as you visit New York with a New York mindset. Make sure to ask for Freddie, amazing customer service. Very informative and knowledgeable. A true New Yorker, and he's great for suggestions. We had to tip him good. The bartenders in the lounge bar in the lobby were amazing as well. The ACE is a nice, intimate, artsy hotel. Absolutely worth staying in.

We had an amazing weekend staying at the Ace Hotel ! The service was exceptional, the director David, was very kind and helped us with anything we needed. The lobby is a great vibe to either work during the day or grab a quick cocktail before dinner. The room was beyond expectations, will definitely go back !!

Stayed in the Ace in May 2022 whilst on a Business Trip. As others have said this hotel has a vibe that's not to everyone's taste. However as a base to commute it was excellent as location wise it's very central. The staff were all excellent and helpful and I had no issues during my stay. I had a small room which wasn't actually that small for a single occupancy, but would be tight with two.

Air-conditioning does not work. Front desk said it is only available if it's 75° or higher outdoors. Five days with no AC at the price + amenity fee has me grumpy. Oddly, the thermostat reads 74° constantly. Pretty sure it's rigged - not in the guest's favor. Hotel is in a great location, staff is nice.

Probably my favorite hotel so far that I have ever stayed at. All employees were really friendly and helpful. I didn't have any issues while staying. Besides it being on the pricer side ( which is how it goes generally in NYC) I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good place to stay. The location is great and there's lots to do within walking distance and subway lines close by if needed.

  • 1/5 Shannon D. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is, at best, fine. It's incredibly dark and often did not feel safe as a result of the total lack of lighting in hallways. I am giving a one-star review because they charged my credit card that was on hand for "incidentals" with $35/day (plus taxes) in "destination fees". When I called and asked them to explain they told me it was a "mandatory fee" like a "resort fee" and when I asked what amenities it covered they said "the telephone in your room and wifi for example". So, just another case of exploitation versus transparency in business. Which is rich coming from a hotel whose twitter bio reads "change starts with the actions we take".

This hotel came in clutch. Priced just right and for what we got it was worth so much more. Rooms are pretty small but they make them so alive and that's what balances the cost to be affordable but worth every penny. Vintage musical feel all around the hotel. Very clean and non stop personality from outside to the lobby, hallways and rooms. Loved the name to since "ACE" is my nickname and I wanted to get a sweater from the hotel but it was out my budget 😭. I will come back again everytime I visit NYC so long as the name never changes 👍🏼.

Great location, close to tourist attractions as well as dozens of restaurants. Friendly staff who were very accommodating and helpful with suggestions. Good value and worth the cost. Definitely warrants a return visit and we're excited to stay here again.

I loved this hotel so much! Great location. All of the staff was amazing. I was given a room with an amazing view of the Empire State Building. Love that the hotel is also connected to a Stumptown Coffee and Juice bar, which both open very early AM. The lobby bar food and drinks were excellent. I loved the way the rooms were decorated - especially the bathroom which was a gorgeous, classic NYC bathroom. Will definitely recommend to others!

Very fancy, with clever labels/messages on walls. Good interior design. The gym facility had lots of equipment, and it was spotless. An extra chair for the room was provided when requested. Luggage storage was available, and the concierge desk helped call a cab. The hotel lobby is unnecessarily dim, even during the day. The room/fridge was full of food/drink available for purchase, making it difficult and confusing to store items in the refrigerator. There was an exorbitant $75 cost to clear the food/drink out. There was no microwave in the room.

Super fun spot. Great bar and lobby area. Lots of people just pop into the lobby area to grab coffee and work from laptops. In the evening, nice spot to grab a drink before heading out on the town. NoMad is a great area. Close to many bars and restaurants. Only knock is that the rooms are very small, but that's what you expect when you stay in a boutique NYC hotel. Rooms are funky though and clean.

Tried to order room service and we never received our food or drinks. I called the lobby and they said they forgot our order. I had to leave to go to a concert and never got to eat dinner because of the hotel. Also, room wasn’t very clean upon arriving. Hair all over the sync, trash not taking out. Room looked very out dated and like it had cleaned in a rush. Hotel did not feel like “lifestyle collection” like capital one suggests. Coffee barista was also rude when ordering coffee. Would not recommend.
