Thank you John D. Rockefeller for giving this beautiful church to New York City. It is a place of inspiration and beauty. I will miss seeing the loft spire from my penthouse terrace, but alas, I am leaving New York permanently after many years of living in the city. I walked across the street after visiting Grant's Tomb to visit the Riverside Church, nicely sited on Riverside Drive with a good Hudson River view. Nearby are the Manhattan School of Music, the Union Theological Seminary, Columbia University, Barnard College and Grant's Tomb. Inside is a work of art. It is quiet and peaceful place to reflect or worship, regardless of your religion.

I visited this place as the New York Philharmonic performed Handel's Messiah. This was the first time I visited and I found myself completely enamored by the decor and architecture. Everything has a significant amount of detail and the main cathedral provided an excellent acoustic experience.

The church prides itself as being progressive and inclusive, one of the few churches in the city actively supporting LGBT causes. The church exterior catches the eye with its stunning architecture, and the grand interior is just as stunning. There is a small gift shop at the ground level. Upper levels are not accessible when I visited.

This cathedral is massive with so many beautiful stained glass windows. Sat here on the second level stands in the main chapel, it was so ornate and huge, I will never forget it. Then the next day, we had mass on the first floor of the main chapel and they had speakers and flat screen TVs all over for those further back, those were really convenient. They also had a section where you could light candles for a prayer if you wante. I got to play in a concert competition held here in 2014, as they had the premises to host it in a stage room in a separate part of the building.

I had hoped to be able to see the view from near the top of the tower but the elevator only stops at certain floors. It would have been nice to see more inside but what we did see was beautiful.

Riverside Church is a great Church, known for its openess and engagement with justice, peace and social equality. Martin Luther King jr has preached here, and reverend James Forbes was for a Long time senior preacher here. The Church is a good place to worship and pray. There lso concerts and art exhibitions here. Highlly recomended.

Absolutely a stunning historic building in NYC. Doors from Claremont st are always open and a great place to go observe the naive and beautiful stained glass. So much history in this one building. My favorite painter Heinrich Hofmann has his original paintings located throughout the church. Beautiful paintings of Christ in Gethsemane.

Beautiful architecture, but although we were the only ones in the nave, we were asked not to take pictures.

Saw that church was open every day until 5pm. Decided to take the bus up to 122nd Street from midtown on Sunday to see it. I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not look around as the church was closed. Not at all as open and welcoming as they say the are.

Attended a special event here recently and it is such a stunningly beautiful cathedral. The complex is quite large, so know where you need to be going in or be willing to ask for help—the staff are super friendly and welcoming.
