Great place to pick up earrings, necklaces, bracelets, bags and clothes with an African flare. Not really a place to bargain. The price is the price. Most of the items are one of a kind. Oh and they also have the butters there so go on ahead and send your ashy friends on over there.

I made two trips here because I just could not get enough. The vendors were very friendly and reasonable. You have to go with a set limit because they will make you spend more than you want to. There is also fabric, textiles, drums, design and tailoring.

Amazing little place, right down the corner from the mosque where Malcolm X preached. Lots of handmade goods, amazing shea butter and black soap. Affordable & so friendly.

I was able to find some nice African prints there to be used for tablecloths. The woman that helped me was nice and friendly. Prices were good and I was quite satisfied with the quality of the fabrics. Recommended.

An easy spot to find African merchandise. There're a bunch of African shops sprinkled all throughout Harlem— HELL EVEN NYC! but they can be pretty easy to miss, Shabazz is like the African mega market

What a great find on 116th! It's a small African market in Harlem away from 125th trendy vendors. These booths have way more African imported varieties. Beware, though. Vendors are desperate to sell, so at times, they may not tell you the truth about the origins of where things come from. They definitely make up stories because I know for fact. Some of the things they said we're hand-made or from particular places were not. I am sure too they base their prices off of what you look like and what you're wearing. Don't take your 1st bargain from your 1st booth work your way through because the ones at the end will be much better price points and as you come back through people are willing to come down and haggle. Sometimes, the asking price that I was given was just outrageous. I definitely spent a bit of money here and got several things that I took back to los angeles as gifts. I will definitely return every time I go to New York to this area. It's kind of hidden, so I highly suggest you check it out. Example booth 1 a bracelet asking price $10. Booth at other end same exact bracelet $5. So be prepared to negotiate with patience, lol.

This is absolutely my favorite place to shop for authentic African textiles and products!! So much to choose from and some items can be altered on the spot. This is definitely one of the BEST places to go outside of Africa. Definitely a must anytime in NYC!

I will be honest, I ran in got what I needed and ran out. I didn't get far at all then the first station. BUT that said I'm definitely returning because I didn't have the time I want to walk around the whole place. I will update but I like what I see.

The place is OK. The sizing of some items was disappointing although understood. I personally feel that the accessories are slightly overpriced and out of style. But would go back to buy fabrics and get stuff made elsewhere

I recently went to the Malcolm Shabazz Market in Harlem. I have friends from all over the world. I am a people person so it is not hard for me to get along. I am glad to say there is some really talented and friendly people here. Most of the items sold here are hand made and one of a kind. If you are interested in clothing, jewelry, and all types of items that are of an African motif you must visit this place. It is amazing what you can discover by learning about cultures other than the ones you are used to. Stop by broaden your scope. Believe me you will not be disappointed.

I would give a five, but many shops were closed for Thanksgiving season. Great place to purchase AUTHENTIC AFRICAN merchandise, from AFRICANS. I bought earrings as gifts and to sell. Will be back before I leave. The vendors were all polite, and willing to haggle prices.

Fairly good place, I have issues with things for sale and no prices. They need prices. Don't wait til I'm interested in a product, then it happens to be the most expensive piece.
