Week day and weekend/holidays schedule is different. Times square is walkable from this place. It has multiple entry/exit points. Chairs 💺 are available at waiting areas. Everytime I visited this place it was fairly cleaned however more can be done ✅ Elevator 🛗 and lights were mostly in working condition. Quick bites(packed chips, biscuits, chocolate, water etc) , News 🗞️ papers, magazines store (Hudson) & few other stores are present. Thanks 🙏👍

I live in Harmon Cove Town Houses on 12/18/2023 the 129X pulled in and I didn't have enough time to run and catch it. I ran to Meadowlands Parkway at Cove Court (SB) and waited about a minute for the bus to pull out of the gate community. The weather was very bad ( Rain & Wind ), the driver saw me and drove by pointing his finger across the street for the (NB) bus stop. After waiting for almost 10 mins in the rain the same bus driver pulled up. I asked him why did he drove by me his reply was I don't stop there, I told him that is a designated bus stop for the 129X to New York and that other bus drivers pick up customers here including myself. He proceeds to say "well I don't stop there" with a negative tone in his voice. At this point I'm highly upset and wet. I told him I'm going to repot you and his response me was in a cocky way ( Go Ahead! ). I feel highly disrespected by this man and I really tried my best to compose myself. So I took a seat right after I told him he's an "A$$Hole I submitted a complaint to NJ transit the same day and as of 1/12/2024 no one has replied back to me. It's apparent that the company doesn't care and the bus driver knew that hence why he told me to go ahead and complain. SMH I'm pretty sure he would have stopped if I was Caucasian or Hispanic. Today 1/18/2024 my fiancé called me to tell me she was disrespected by a bus driver, I sent her the same bus driver photo and asked if this was him. She responded Yes! I called the complaint number to check the status of my first complaint a month ago about this driver and was told the person who is handling my case number received awhile ago and don't know why I haven't been contacted and she will send a email to this person 🤦🏾‍♂️. Its obvious that NJ Transit does not care about customer service and the employees reflect that, they just their for a paycheck even though its the customer whos actually paying them.

It's not as bad as what you read online in terms of danger but it's definitely not pleasant. There are no chairs and barely any benches as an attempt to deter the homeless. I walked into a Dunkin Donuts thinking there could be some chairs for paying customers (that would make sense, right?) but there was none. There was a police presence on the upper floors but on the lower areas where the bus terminals are I didn't see any. At least the vending machines were fine but one of them had a broken contactless pay so you can only use cash. If any guys are aimlessly standing/walking around and come up to you and say "Excuse me sir" or "excuse me ma'am" ignore them because they are definitely going to be asking for money. That was annoying too.

This place has 3.6 stars?! This is one of the great dumps on planet earth. I’d get to my destination faster riding a literal greyhound dog then one of these greyhound buses. Delays, no announcements, horribly run. Never ever again

The place is so disty and there are no chairs that a person can find but in the basement and top level. The bathrooms are not that dirty but there is a lot of homeless people. The police officers does not respect you and treat you like nothing. There is no place to ask for help and the ones that were there were close. The machines does not show the exact time that the bus is coming. Literally, the lady from NJ transit said that those machines does not work correctly. If they do not want to put chairs so people does not sleep on them, (YOU CANNOT IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE SLEEPING ON THE FLOORS LIKE PREGNANT WOMEN, CHILDREN, BABIES, AND MANY MORE) they should set a "hotel" inside so people that wait for their buses can pay for the hours they need the room or something like that. I had to sit there for 7 hours in the floor waiting for my bus back to NJ.

Port Authority is very clean and functional. It has a variety of stores along with the bus stops. Kinda like a small airport in a way!

It's a VERY big terminal. As a tourist, I was completely thrown under the bus. You don't get what you need to do inside the terminal instand. There will be random people helping you and showing where to go, for a cash tip of course. Once you've done it, you'll understand how to do it next time. The busses where really comfortable and high class though. We had a nice ride.

I cannot be made to believe this disgusting dump hasn't been condemned. This place is absolutely not fit for human habitation, let alone the pigeons flying around inside the building. There were probably more homeless dregs lying around than paying travelers; they literally took up all of the already-sparse seating. What a terrible experience... a suitable and fitting example of what this City has become.

I mean, it’s a bus terminal. A pretty big one, lots of stores and stuff like that. We came here to catch a bus to the Newark airport. At the ticket counter I tried to buy a ticket for my five year old only to be told he did not need a ticket. I asked are you sure, cause he’s going to need his own seat. “Oh yeah he’s good he’s good kids are free.” OK so I just bought one for myself. I then had an invigorating argument with the bus driver when attempting to board the bus and was forced to purchase a ticket using cash while on the bus. I was short a dollar (used a card at the counter) but another passenger helped me out. It was just annoying because I tried to buy him a ticket and they said it wasn’t necessary. Whatever.

Under some construction. Had to use restroom on upper level. Long walk from Port Authority bus terminal to subways. Lots of signage. Helpful employees. Police presence visible. Not surprising as it was New Years weekend.

It's a homeless shelter masquerading as a bus terminal. Needs to be cleaned up. PA cops do their best but it's a tough job.

You can't rely on Drivers to keep the sign accurate every time they take their scheduled routes. Passengers need to be smart and really know the schedule and demand and ask the driver every time, every day. Or else, passengers will miss the bus that they thought or assume it was the wrong bus destination because the sign says different.

The Port Authority Bus Terminal's handling of Academy Bus Service is disappointing. Peak-hour services (4-5 PM) are grossly inadequate, causing unnecessary delays. Supervisors add confusion instead of clarity and present unprofessionally. The practice of redirecting passengers unable to board a full bus to the end of another line at a different gate is unjust. Misleading gate signs and a lack of electronic timetable further add to the chaos. These issues need immediate attention for better service delivery.

Love it here, don't change a thing. Make the info listed on the departures board switch from one thing to another even faster and make it smaller, more difficult to read. Why not. Surprisingly clean public restrooms, easy to get to other trains & buses, oozing rugged historic charm even though there's nowhere to sit

After having my flight back home cancelled by Delta with none available for over 48 hours I had to book a Greyhound back home. The bus was late and the whole line of people were just waiting without us being given any info. After 45 minutes someone had to go to the info desk just to be told there's no driver to drive the bus. Excuse me what??? And they don't give you any info or anything of what to do. As a matter of fact, no one even came to address all of us waiting for the bus to let us know of the situation. No announcements of delays or anything. The people working there do not give a s**t about you and will not make even a 1% effort to help you. Luckily there was a Trailways bus I was able to get on otherwise I would have been stranded in that filthy bus terminal for who knows how long. The Greyhound staff don't even have the decency or compassion to tell you there might be another bus line that can get you home. I understand the bus lines are competitors but if I was looking at a family just trying to get home I'd want to help them find their way. If you choose to book a bus out of here to get home do so at your own risk and maybe have a backup plan of a hotel room you can cancel if you don't need it.

Decent considering it’s indoors. Be aware the screens like you would see at the airport are not there. They have auto doors by all gates and people will stand by them and make them open, so in winter dress warm. Bathrooms were clean however the entry and exits for the buses are putrid. If you have kids bring wipes. There is a Hudson store and a Dunkin’ Donuts but that’s it food and drink wise.

The people who work there are very friendly and help out if you can‘t find your gate. Very cool, for someone who doesn‘t know anything like it. Like in a airport, big bus terminals. When you‘ve been there two or three times you‘ll know your way. And you can always find someone for help.

Not the worst bus terminal but certainly not the best. My biggest complaint is the lack of benches. Foul odor from lower level and homeless people everywhere so I can kind of understand why there is lack of seating. Still annoying for people who just want to sit and drink their coffee while waiting for their bus.

Look, I want to be contrarian as much as anyone else, and they have solved a lot of the original complaints about the terminal. It feels safe and well lit! The bathrooms are acceptable! Sure, a few things are dismal here and there -- the selection of shops, some of the signage -- but why give this place two stars given the array of places it serves and the convenience of a single transfer point. Simple: the structure is HORRIBLE as a bus terminal. Everything is arrayed across multiple floors without any rhyme or reason, figuring out how to get to your bus bay with a lot of luggage or a wheelchair is a nightmare, and there are often multiple routes on New Jersey transit that go to the same place but -- surprise -- they are in completely different bus bays and you can't transfer between them easily! Don't expect any estimated arrival clocks or even basic departure boards -- instead, expect to repeatedly check your phone or the handful of screens scattered around the area for departure info. Again, it gets an extra star for not being a complete nightmare of a place to wait, but it's still pretty terrible.

My job is in NYC so I frequently go into and out of this terminal. PAPD needs to enforce keeping the homeless out of there!!! They are dangerous, unclean and unhealthy. As a commuter or traveler you don't want or need to be harassed by constant aggressive begging coming from that population and NO, I don't need them to hold any door open for me. If they aren't begging they are sitting all over the paying customers waiting area spreading filth or defacating and urinating everywhere. Many passengers stand when they are waiting even if they could sit because heaven knows what's on those seats. Yuk. I also feel sorry for the merchants that have businesses there and have to deal with them all day long. DO BETTER PORT AUTHORITY!!!

Always nice place visually and great to geab a bit or drink on the way to your bus gate. Crowds are for sure here. Rude people are every where, but just maintain your goodness and everyone else will melt thier icy exteriors(This is just for trying to walk to your gate).

I took buses from here twice and they have been delayed by 3-4 hours both times. Just such bad experience there’s homeless it’s dirty and freezing cold. If you’re buying tickets make sure it doesn’t say port authority i promise you you won’t get to places on time and you’ll be exhausted and annoyed.

Fine - walk in, grab a coffee, wait for bus. Better & cleaner than it used to be but still good to stay aware of people around you.

Bus services were great during our recent NYC visit. They were mostly running on time, which I was told was a definite miracle, LOL. It saved us from having to take a taxi everywhere. We did not have to catch a bus at the terminal itself.

I had an extremely frustrating experience at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Their buses never show up on time, which made me late for important appointments multiple times. The lack of punctuality is unacceptable, and it's clear that they don't value their customers' time. I strongly advise against using their services if you have any regard for being on schedule.

An excellent transport hub for access to buses, coaches, trains and subways. All in sync. Full of different types of restaurants, fast food, drinks, juices, quick shopping makes it a good idea to eat. Not having a digital payment system makes this place dull meaning you have to carry cash or cards ...long queues at the enquiry and ticket selling windows makes me feel like walking into 50-60s and that too in the centre of NY. Ticket vending machines should have been considered. Information desk staff needs to help with smile and not a dull face.

The Port Authority is a beautiful bus terminal I've used for years to get around NYC. It sits around 42nd Street, where you can connect to several subways, taxis, and busses that can take you around the greater New York metro area. Riders can easily find information about necessary gates at an information desk. The Port Authority Terminal is quite spacious and clean! There are several convenience stores for newspapers, magazines, and food, if needed. It serves as a major hub for mass transit, so there are plenty of stores nearby for anything you may not find in the terminal. There is so much more to this terminal, but that would be for another time. That's all for now.

Writing this on behalf of a very dear friend, who had taken the bus from Weehawken to NY Port Authority. She had met other friends to sight see, Ice Skate at Bryant Park etc etc. But when it came time to come back, the app said what time the bus was leaving (3:02am) and when she was dropped off, she found all the doors were locked, no one in sight either. In a split second this man yelled at her, "who you calling bi*ch !" She had called me petrified and ended up calling a Lyft. Disgraceful, unpleasant and not safe due to that. The schedule she viewed should be made very clear, the hour in which the doors close and the steps one must take to get safely on a bus. I've never visited there and after hearing this, I'd want to avoid it.

Great place, staff very friendly. Buy your tickets in advance though especially if going to Woodbury Common otherwise it can cost up to twice as much! Learnt that the hard way.

For such a big bus terminal and in NYC it's bad. Hardly no chairs to sit down and wait. Floor is dirty and no place to charge your cell phone when buses use Etickets and only let you get them two hr before. So be aware for GPS users!. It's also sad to see so many homeless sleeping around and the police have very lack of support from other authority workers. Things really have to improve and modernize.

Navigation Navigation Navigation. Is totally missed in this place. Several departure spots serving different companies are located far from each other. It's impossible to find the Departures board you expect in every airport/train station/bus terminal. Other nuances like cleaning issues, lack of retail and homeless people everywhere are far less important. Because this place should serve passengers and help them to board the right bus. Unless they are not succeeding in it - other suggestions make no sense.

If I could give it a 0 star I would! No one in this place knows anything. I lost my bus, mind you I was there an hour before departure. I asked, they all kept sending me to different places. Please hire people and educate them on where gates are and which gates go where. You have literally bozos working, sitting there just being on their phone
