BEWARE:
I
strongly
caution
you
to
reconsider
using
this
jeweler
for
cleaning
or
repair
of
heirloom
or
otherwise
valuable
jewelry.
I
brought
my
engagement
ring
to
this
jeweler
earlier
this
week
for
a
quick
cleaning.
It's
a
platinum-set
1
carat
diamond
with
twelve
1/8
carat
channel-set
diamonds
on
the
band.
When
he
returned
my
ring
to
me
after
machine-cleaning
it,
it
was
clear
one
of
the
small
stones
was
missing,
obviously
having
fallen
out
in
the
cleaning
process.
When
I
pointed
it
out,
he
said
something
to
the
effect
of:
The
stone
was
missing
when
you
walked
in,
and
that
my
"ring
was
so
dirty,
how
would
[I]
even
have
known
there
was
a
diamond
there
to
begin
with?"
I
don't
know
if
I
was
being
accused
of
trying
to
swindle
him
or
if
he
was
trying
to
swindle
me...
In
any
case,
he
said
my
stone
was
"gone"
and
that
he
would
replace
it
with
a
stone
he
had
in
stock.
He
put
a
too-big,
mismatching
diamond
(?)
in
its
place.
In
shock
at
the
entire
situation,
I
left,
but
soon
returned,
demanding
that
he
empty
the
filter
in
the
cleaner.
He
reluctantly
did
so
and,
fishing
through
many
small
diamonds
retrieved
from
the
filter,
seemed
to
have
found
my
stone.
He
replaced
the
sloppy,
poorly-set
stone
he
put
in
my
ring
an
hour
before
with
what
I
can
only
hope
is
my
diamond.
I
won't
know
until
I
have
my
ring,
which
is
a
family
heirloom,
inspected
by
a
reputable
jeweler.
My
experience
at
this
place
was
horrible.
I
thought
I'd
just
get
a
quick
$10
in-and-out
cleaning
and
I
wish
I
had
never
gone
in.
tl;dr
This
jeweler
damaged
my
engagement
ring
and
was
extremely
careless
and
disrespectful
when
I
asked
that
he
fix
it.
Trust
someone
else
with
your
valuables.
