What!? Where did this place come from!? The renovation is amazing. There's a vet, a barber shop, two floors, a specialty restaurant just for animals. Super clean and super well organized. I really wish I lived closer to here I would go all the time! I really appreciated how well laid out everything was. The quality and stock of items and the variety. They even had seasonal stuff for dogs and cats. The fish section was also really neat. They have live coral and a really neat selection. Staff was friendly and helpful you could tell they love animals.

New store, same tricks Introducing the Petco Quality Guarantee, namely that your pets will likely die within days of purchase. After being moved into a brand new store complete with glittering tanks and a revamped filtration system, I had hoped that PetCo Union Square’s aquarium department would manage to clean up its act. Alas, I was mistaken. On my first visit to this new store, I saw one of their ‘for sale’ fish floating at the top of its tank, dead. On my second visit to this new store, I saw three of their ‘for sale’ fish floating at the top of their tanks, dead. (One had clearly been in there for some time, as its tank mates had managed to make a lunch out of one of its eyeballs - charming!) It appears this store continues to fail to grasp the nettle and handle the root cause of its aquarium department woes. All fishkeepers know that a quick cursory glance into a fish tank every morning will reveal, shockingly, who is dead and who is still alive and kicking. Dead fish can then be removed using a net, some of which are for sale within this very store, a dog bowl, also for sale here, or, for those who are feeling REALLY brave, their own bare hands. PetCo would do well to heed this advice, preferably before any of its staff try to issue platitudes to paying customers such as, ‘Is your tank big enough for this fish?’ For posterity, I have attached my previous video of a dead fish at this store’s previous location.

This new location has put an emphasis on pet and pet owner experience. The minute you walk into the store you’re wowed. You have an all around experience for you and your pet. Having a Vetco clinic in store as well as the needs for your pet is a great experience. You do not have to go from one location to the next to find the proper care, grooming services, food or dog accessories etc. There are more food brand options that the old location did not have before. Brands that you would find in your local pet store. The location is very inviting, the way it was designed is very nice.

Petco is becoming a fancy pet shopping mall rather than a pet essential store now. I kinda like it this way. We spent hours in this store to explore.

I was stunned looking around the atore, everything was so beautifully done. The people around the store were super friendly and helpful. I wish i lived closer to NYC.We had our pup’s bathing appointment. It was very quick and we got a call in 30 within minutes to pick him up.They had really good options for all fur babies supplies🙏Definitely a one stop boujee shop for your pets. The only reason i gave 3 ⭐️ is because of the attitude and arrogance of the person at the grooming desk . She kept on saying is the price ok,you sure, staring at me and my husband,Can you initial next to the total….While i was waiting i saw her treat other customers and realized she was just being rude to us.Dudeee i know how much i can afford n how much money i have. Will not be taking my lil boy for grooming anymore.

Cleanest and most well-stocked pet store in Manhattan - I go for aquarium supplies and the staff is always knowledgeable and helpful when we ask specific questions about different species and help to educate us on our new pets needs and care before we go home. Try and ask for Adonis, Zoe, Nancy, and Wayne when going to the aquatics section - I’ve found them to be more knowledgeable and personable than the boutique fish stores. What i really love about this store is that they also have salt water fish, rare fish, crustatians, and crystal shrimp in a TON of color and species varieties (a personal favorite)!

Always a quick visit here. They always have exactly what I need. Took one star off due to lack of floor staff. One of the other customers was looking for a very specific dog toy and there was no one around to assist him. Perhaps if they paid their employees a living wage they wouldn't have issues keeping their staff.

great place to get fish/parrots/ and many other animals. there are a lot of and almost all basic supplies available at this store. the staff is great, helpful and polite. I went there to buy beta fish and I had few questions and got all answers. it was easy and a little time consuming purchase but successfully bought it. the fish is nice and healthy, the store is 2 stories and it is nice and clean. great experience buying. and also they are open till late so that is another benefit. happy shopping.

Looking for adoption kittens so i walked in. Had a talk with Ben and he is very helpful. Looks like they have certain time windows for adoption and they do not have all the physical cats in the store since COVID. Was told to apply online so i can view all the kittens and get more flexible time.

I’ll start off by saying that Damiska is such a sweet person. She loves dogs and dogs love her. My dog was so happy getting her cut with her and I was relieved that I finally found someone that I could trust with my dog. I have tried so many people in the past, and ended up being disappointed. So if you need grooming for your dog, don’t look for anyone else. Just look for Damiska, you will not regret it and your dog will love her. 🐶

The people that work here-for ther most part are helpful and keep the place reasonably clean by comparison. But the guys that load in their pallets around closing time, they have their profession confused with a that of security force who have taken a vow of frowns.

Rude staff. I went to use the bathroom cause I have cysts on my uterus before I bought my cat food. I'm starting a foster care center for cats and the girl came out of the bathroom and purposely locked it on my face. She was an employee and I tried to explain that I needed to go to the bathroom first but she wasn't having it. Some dpanish girl that looked like she was in her 20s. Never will I spend a penny in there again.

This is my go to for my dog’s needs and the customer service I received today was excellent, as always. Boss Lady Laura took care of my issue efficiently and her supporting cast at the check out were a big help, too. Five stars all around!!

This is the fairyland for your beloved pet. A must stop. Lots of options for both dogs and cats. Fun section for fishes and small animals.

For the most part, some of the people there seem to actually care about animals. That’s odd for NY, so I’m impressed. They do need to get everyone on the same page when selling products for your pets. We were told 3 different things on the same visit and ALL 3 turned out to be opinions verses facts. So basic education on proper pets needs should be hammered into these folks.

So, I've been to a couple locations and this by far is my favorite!! Big store, friendly staff, even a huge kitchen where they make dog food in house! Everytime we've come , we've been helped by an employee named Annette. She's absolutely fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and is ready for any questions and assistance we need. Everyone is such a pleasure. This will be the only petco location I'll shop at for all my pet needs.

I'm not sure if this Petco was designed for me or my dog, but I was all about it! Full sensory experience from start to finish. It's never occurred to me to go browsing in a pet store, but this is an absolute destination!

I don't like this place because it's in the downtown area with very limited metered parking. If you live locally, you probably would be walking or riding a bike instead of driving. If that's the case, it would be great but for someone who's from out of town, I'm used to an open area with big parking lots. I gave it an extra star because the staff was friendly and helpful. But I would normally avoid locations like this and parking is to main reason.

It’s an OK location at best. Theres never enough staff for there to be someone to ask for help (good luck finding someone to help you find that thing you’re looking for) . I spent 20 minutes walking through the store actively looking for help and not one associate was available. You guys really need a floor ambassador position to help your guests find what they are looking for and to assist with getting things upstairs. Also maybe someone who you can ask general questions to? I came in as a first time dog owner and had many questions about the type of products to get, how to use them, etc. i have spent hundreds of extra dollars needing to buy things for the dog that if someone had been around to answer some questions i would have been able to make better decisions and spent less the first few times. Also you guys NEVER have dog shoes in stock. You have cheap water balloons that go on the dog’s feet but you never have any actual dog shoes. Whatever you do manage to have is also never in any needed size. You need all sizes for dog shoes and you need to order enough stock to have the item stocked at all times. This location also has an issue where you kinda have a whole lot of nothing useful. Mostly junk.

We've been to several locations and Pet Smart but this is our favorite place. It's always clean, the staff is always friendly and helpful and I love the Just For Dogs kitchen that they have. I'm pretty sure the employees at this location are trained by the same people that train Chick-fil-a employees on their customer service!

Beautiful pet store in the heart of Union Square. There's lots and i mean lots of things to see and do here including doggy barber shop, doggy fitting station, animal habitats, vet hospital and much much more. You definitely don't want to miss it

SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! The staff is useless. I traveled far to visit to the store for products for my pets- no one offered help. I asked for assistance and the sales person told me I had to wait until they got finished DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! He did not move with any sense of care. Another sales guy did the same thing! They wouldn’t stop their conversation with their coworker to help me. It was such a mess and very disappointing. I WILL NEVER RETURN or recommend visiting this location!

Most times walk in to browse. End up buying something, a toy or snack. Today I bought a coat for my little guy. Nicely laid out with many items. My guy usually takes a small coat. Most are mid to Xtra large. The area must have bigger dogs.

The new Petco Union Square location is unlike any other pet shop. The grand shop design is spectacular with a variety of pet merchandise, food, and services offered. We loved seeing familiar and new brands featured and the individual creative section displays for all the small businesses and Reddy lifestyle area. We enjoyed selecting treats from the pick and choose biscuit cookie trolley bar for dogs upstairs, trying samples at JustFoodForDogs, and our pup having her chilled whipped cream! The staff were relaxed, friendly, and helpful. Our pup especially enjoyed meeting them throughout the store. Our first visit to the shop was excellent and we are excited to be able to stop at this location every time we are in the Union Square area!

Grooming is overbooked and the groomers do not listen to the instructions the owners give them. The groomers seem overwhelmed and just cut all the dogs hair short…. Traumatising the dog and upsetting the customer. This being the flagship location should have a better way of handling grooming appointments and also listening to what the customer has requested. Kindly issue me a refund - also her teeth were not brushed and she has a knicks near her hind legs…
