New
store,
same
tricks
Introducing
the
Petco
Quality
Guarantee,
namely
that
your
pets
will
likely
die
within
days
of
purchase.
After
being
moved
into
a
brand
new
store
complete
with
glittering
tanks
and
a
revamped
filtration
system,
I
had
hoped
that
PetCo
Union
Square’s
aquarium
department
would
manage
to
clean
up
its
act.
Alas,
I
was
mistaken.
On
my
first
visit
to
this
new
store,
I
saw
one
of
their
‘for
sale’
fish
floating
at
the
top
of
its
tank,
dead.
On
my
second
visit
to
this
new
store,
I
saw
three
of
their
‘for
sale’
fish
floating
at
the
top
of
their
tanks,
dead.
(One
had
clearly
been
in
there
for
some
time,
as
its
tank
mates
had
managed
to
make
a
lunch
out
of
one
of
its
eyeballs
-
charming!)
It
appears
this
store
continues
to
fail
to
grasp
the
nettle
and
handle
the
root
cause
of
its
aquarium
department
woes.
All
fishkeepers
know
that
a
quick
cursory
glance
into
a
fish
tank
every
morning
will
reveal,
shockingly,
who
is
dead
and
who
is
still
alive
and
kicking.
Dead
fish
can
then
be
removed
using
a
net,
some
of
which
are
for
sale
within
this
very
store,
a
dog
bowl,
also
for
sale
here,
or,
for
those
who
are
feeling
REALLY
brave,
their
own
bare
hands.
PetCo
would
do
well
to
heed
this
advice,
preferably
before
any
of
its
staff
try
to
issue
platitudes
to
paying
customers
such
as,
‘Is
your
tank
big
enough
for
this
fish?’
For
posterity,
I
have
attached
my
previous
video
of
a
dead
fish
at
this
store’s
previous
location.
