I went to the emergency room because I was pregnant and I was bleeding. I was waiting there for two hours and people came and go in all at once. When I went to the bathroom, I started crying because of the helplessness, worry, and pain I felt, and the bleeding was heavier when my mother saw me crying, she started yelling for help because I was pregnant and no one helped me at the front desk not even looked at us, they ignored us and spoke badly to us when I told them I was in pain. The security was the only one that helped us and called a doctor who immediately treated me. The emergency room was almost empty inside and they never called me to check me out. I ended up losing the baby.

As a huge establishment such as this being a community hospital they really suck at servicing the community the proper way. How do you have pts sitting in dirty rooms for hours w/o being attended to, to only then get treated poorly by the staff; nurses AND Dr's? For one, they noted my son was 494LBS when in fact he was 224lbs. They kept going into the wrong room looking for a pt, they offered him food, knowing he was waiting for a CT Scan. How are you not aware of where each pt is located at? Then have him sitting in his soiled clothing, which my cause possible infection than what he entered with. They're very rude and unpleasant like. It's bad enough people are going with mild to severe pain/emergencies, to be treated as such a burdens. Unless they get a whole new ER staff, they need to close that ER dept ASAP! #PoorService

The Adult emergency room is the hotel for homeless people, no one comes to wipe seats or equipment after homeless people, or anyone for that matter, sleep, cough, drool, etc all over them. They ask all civilians for ID but homeless people walk in and out as they please. Nothing against them as they certainly need help but in these times more should be done to assist them seperately and quickly and keep the area for all other individuals clean and sanitized. DOH needs to pay a visit here very soon. 6 to 8 hour wait just to be seen. It is ridiculous especially in the "greatest country in the world"

Columbia Presbyterian was considered one of the best medical facilities in NYC a decade or so ago. I'm still reeling behind the deplorable conditions & gross lack of compassion & empathy from the entire staff. I could share more. I have insurance because I'm a NYCDOE educator. They treated me with respect & dignity. This I didn't see with many other patients who were there for nearly a day in the small hallway in the ER Fast track. I myself was there for nearly 11 hours. They were thoroughly thorough with my medical concerns because I was STILL running a high fever 2 weeks after having a dual surgery at Englewood Hospital. Now THAT in itself is a whole different nightmare. I did meet some wonderful people, nonetheless. We bonded as we watched in horror the treatment of other patients. Something is terribly foul & broken in our medical communities of the USA.

Had me waiting to been seen for over 4 Hours for a miscarriage. They couldn't even explain to me why I had a miscarriage. This his not a good emergency room & the staff do not treat you like your there for an emergency. Go somewhere else if you can, I even had a male Doctor tell me he will not treat me because I "look" fine. 🤦🏾‍♀️

The doctors & nurses in the ER are very disrespectful. They DO NOT take the time to listen, they just want to get you out of there as quickly as possible. Just last summer I ended up in this ER a few different times with severe breathing problems. The first time I was told it was just an asthma attack, & I was given some oxygen then sent home. A few hours later I had to go back to the ER with the same breathing trouble & once again I was told it was another asthma attack. Then a couple days later I had to go back to the ER again with the same problem but this time I was sent to the psychiatrist ward section of the ER. There while I was still gasping for air the nurses had security forcibly remove my clothes & injected me with something that knocked me out completely. When I woke up a few hours later I was told that I've been having panic attacks which were causing my breathing problems. I was given some medication for anxiety but I knew that wasn't what was wrong with me. So the next time I had a breathing problem I went to the ER at Saints Lukes hospital on 113 street & that's when I was diagnosed with long covid symptoms. So long story short this ER is the WORST ER in New York City. STAY THE HELL AWAY

I'm not sure how this facility is still standing. I have been requesting simple Visit Notes for a patient since July and we're almost in October right now. I call them exactly once a week and spoke to several people but unfortunately they haven't been able to fax or email one simple document. I spoke to one of the receptionists in September and she was extremely rude. She gave me an email address to send a request for the doucment needed. I haven't been on the call with her for 3 minutes and she was rushing to hang up. I asked her if i can confirm the email she gave me, she said yes and that its correct. Then when i sent an email, it came back because the address i was given doesn't exist. What frustrated me the most and made me want to leave this review is how shamelessly they disconnect the phone on you. I can clearly hear someone picking up, another person laughing in the background and they send me to a survey you're supposed to take after you speak to someone. This has happened so many times, and the few times I was able to get a hold of someone and expressed that someone disconnected the call on me they completely disregard it. Which clearly states that it's a usual thing for them. I advised our mutual patient that this is what has been going on. She said that it's very hard to get someone on the phone but she didn't think it was to this extreme. Now that I'm reading their reviews online it makes a lot of sense.

Although this emergency room was very crowded, the staff were very hard working and deserve to be recognized. Dr. Christian Davidson had awesome patient care skills and made me feel very comfortable during an all night long ER stay even though I was far away from home (I live in NC). Big thank you to everyone at NY Presbyterian :)

Went after a robbery & the staff, doctors, nurses, radiologists were all amazing. Super kind, attentive, concerned & fast. They answered all questions and explained everything clearly. They genuinely cared. I'm really happy I chose them to visit in my time of need. I really, can't wait until I'm sick again to visit them. Dr. Dubey was superb - really professional & quite a gentleman. Even made me laugh. Thanks to all of you, especially Doctor.

Honestly a huge disappointment. The 80% of the staff has attitude and ignores the patient. The nurses and techs are very inexperienced or uneducated as they do procedures incorrectly adding more discomfort to the patient experience. And one has to beg for attention and help. It's really ridiculous

Came in Saturday night because my partner had a cyst that ruptured inside causing it to go into his bloodstream causing an infection. It is now Monday night and we’re still in the Emergency room. We kept asking for the proper care and they kept dismissing us. Eventually they moved him to another area (area E). Here the situation worsen. He was deserted, nurses weren’t acknowledging our request and their duties to continue to clean his wound! Instead they gave him the gauze and tape so he can clean it himself. It’s in an area he can’t reach and can become easily infected when moving. When I came in, requested for his nurse to look and clean his open wound and the responses the other nurses gave us was “yea that’s not my patient, your nurse will be come in a bit she’s in the back” … we waited and waited. This can cause a bigger infection and make the matter worse especially since he has been in this hospital for 3days, no shower, no rags or any hygiene products, and laying in the same contaminated bloody bedsheet from Saturday …. while waiting a nurse came and mistaken my partner for another patient and was about to give him someone else’s medication.

I rarely post negative reviews but I am posting this as a warning to those who can make a choice about which emergency room they can go to. The vertical unit is an area with old, worn out, filthy dirty chairs. The chair had black dust and residue on the side of the arm rests and the plastic on the seat was worn to the point of being ripped open with exposure of the foam support of the seat. Uncomfortable and filthy is an understatement. The doctors and nurses were terrific other than than the nurse with the mask below her nose, who put my IV in and accidently let my blood spill out onto my clothes. She saw it and said, oh that never happens. I asked for something to clean it up with and she walked away. Another feature of the vertical area is the thin dirty plastic partitions between patients, allowing 2 feet of space between people. There was about 8 people crammed into a small area with no ventilation and too much heat. There was not even a small degree of privacy. Conversations and identifying information could easily be heard by everyone in the area. Many people in this area were coughing and not all were keeping their masks on. There were no IV poles and bags were hung from hooks on the wall. Getting anyone's attention for help was out of the question, mostly because the ER was over crowded with people and clearly not large enough or properly staffed for the demand. The New-York Presbyterian Emergency Department needs to be expanded and revamped to deal with the way medicine is practiced in 2023. It's supposed to be a world class hospital and should have an ER that lives up to the standard, not just the advertisements.

The staff lack direction and organization. I went there for a migraine headache with neuralgia, spasms in my forehead pain and eye pain, acute onset double vision. The staff treat people with disrespect, and speak unprofessional language. I needed pain medication for a migraine, and excruciating eye pain. They gave me 3 Tylenol and Reglan when I had no nausea (I am a nurse). I stated I had no nausea and the RN said this is what we give for headaches. I never saw a doctor for hours so I am not sure what they based the decision as to my needed something for nausea was, other than just to give me something to make me feel my issues are addressed. I was not paid attention to, staff running by MD’s at the computer chatting about who is working when and on/off the weekend. I tried to ask as question to several staff and they all told me they would be right back. The staff at the desk stated they did not know who was following me. It was torture as with no treatment other than disrespectful treatment I would have been much better off at home. The environment was making my pain worse. I was there from8:30 am to 10:30 pm with no pain relief, nothing to eat and 1 juice which only raised my blood sugar but did nothing to quench my thirst. It was the most horrible experience and WASTE of my time, but they racked up the $$$ at my expense. I was seen hours into my stay by Neurology which was a useless exam. Questions I could not answer accurately as I was in so much pain and they asked me without raising my head with bright lights I had to look at to see them above me. They lacked awareness of this and were arrogant just making quick command as they did their “how many fingers do I have” up exam. The exam was painful as I had to move my eyes and the pinching of the nerve in my head became tighter. This is a serious condition. No one with the pain I had should have been under bright overhead lights. I had not slept the entire night before and it would have just given me something for pain other than Tylenol, as one Percocet, and/or a Naritriptan for the vascular inflammation which was most visible. I have pictures and I hope to get an Opinion article in The NY Times as a follow up to their article on gaslighting, marginalizing women’s complaints. I am not a woman of color, but I can assure you I was treated in a most condescending manner. The testing, labs and a CT scan could have been outpatient. What I needed was relief from the pain, and a specialist referral. I was also in excruciating pain from laying, even rotating side to side on the stretcher as I have ischial bursitis. Many patients who came in much later than I did got moved to rooms where the lights could be off. Yet, they left me the ENTIRE 14 hours on a stretcher under the bright lights where movement and noise contributed to my pain. The testing is where the $$$ are and that is exactly what they did. My health was not of concern, it was all about how many tests and consults (high fives to all) they could generate.I woke up this morning, the day after my 14 hr ED “Tylenol” visit with the same migraine and eye pain. The doctor and nurses were flaky in my opinion. All over the place and no strategy as to what to do first. The chatter they had while going in circles was not at all amusing, but sad as again, there was no awareness of their behavior. FYI - I was an ED nurse at Rush Pres-St Lukes in Chicago, so I have a reference as to what should be observed while waiting in an Emergency Department that strives for professionalism. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. NYU offers wait times posted and I think Lenox Hill does as well. You will also get professional treatment there and not from sub-par practitioners.

After being discharged from Allen Pavillion at 10:15pm on Feb 2nd due to no ENT and doctor saying it doesn't seem serious; sent me to 168th street ER to see the ENT. After waiting from 11pm Feb 2nd was not seen till almost 4am Feb 3rd. When I was seen after telling them my situation discharged me again cause they this time had no on call GI (Gastrintestinal Doctor) after the ENT felt the affected area was lower in the GI track. Then the Doctor in charge of the ER said that I had to find a GI on my own and make an out patient appointment because "no ER has an on call GI" and "does not do" endoscopic procedures in an ER. Sad thing is I still did not have my issued resolved, no GI works on the weekends, and felt like I was not heard at all as my pain was still there.

Do NOT leave this emergency room without confirming that they sent your medication to your correct pharmacy. Otherwise you will never get the medication. I spent over an hour calling the emergency room and they pick up without saying hello and hang up or plainly do not pick up their phone. I know that there is a nurse shortage, so I think the best solution is to not leave the hospital without confirming they sent it to the pharmacy and the pharmacy has your prescription. My poor grandma was left without meds. Unacceptable.

. When I went into the ER, I was having trouble walking. They admitted me. I was also having trouble breathing. I was having memory issues and due to the stress of being in there I would wake up everyday and not remember what had happened the day before. I have since collected some of the memories and realize that the doctors would come in everyday and ask me the same questions each day, taking advantage of the fact that I did not remember the previous day. Using this as a tactic to brainwash me and get me out of their hospital . I was there for a couple of week and was just left to lay in the bed for the most part. When I complained that ti couldn't breath, the nurses guilted me by saying that there were other people who were in actual serious need of oxygen. They gave me a tiny amount and took it away a day before I was discharged. During the time that I had oxygen, I was able to function better and even walk. On the day I was discharged, I could not walk again. But the nurse who had been handling my care, took me down to the entrance area in a wheel chair on discharge day and left me in the entrance area. After awhile, a nother worker noticed me and didn't seem happy that i was there. They called security who then put me into a wheelchair and dumped me on the sidewalk a few blocks from the hospital.

It's the worse hospital you can ever imagine, how it is possible that a patient came in with high fiber and abdominal pain and 30 hours later the only medicine she had was 2 Tylenol... It is crazy, you talk with the nurses and they just ignore everybody. THE WORST ER IN NYC consider your option before coming here

PLEASE AVOID THE EMERGENCY ROOM REALLY BAD. The emergency room is by far the most inefficient and very unprofessional. doctors were helpful. Nurses, patient care technicians, emergency technicians, were very rude and very ignorant. It took me 7 hours to be admitted and be prescribe a simple Medecine. Registered nurses located in the emergency room were far the worst of the worst. They do not care about the patients well-being. PLEASE AVOID THE EMERGENCY ROOM REALLY BAD.

Please reconsider visiting this emergency room. The staff is friendly but the way the hospital is running is very poor. I understand that covid 19 has made a lot of things harder but a patient should not be waiting over 8 hours for someone to look over their x ray results. There's a system called MyChart where all your exam results can be found. Its very easy to have a doctor email or upload comments and test results directly to the patient through MyChart. It makes no sense that a patient needs to wait for those results for something minor in order to be discharged. FIX YOUR DISCHARGE PROCESS. Also it seems like there are lots of lies being told to the patients. I constantly had to harass the front desk about my results and each time I was met with "I'll page the doctor to have a look". It's been 8 hours. Where are those results and where is the doctor?

Used to be good - Workers there are disrespectful, lack coordination with other departments - everyone is sitting around talking, chatting, or on their phones - minimal work is being done leading to long waits when it’s not even crowded - horribly managed and run on all levels - some people are nice, just don’t care about doing their jobs quickly, effectively or at all. I’ve been to better hospitals outside the country

Over the yrs the ER here has gotten extremely terrible. I understand theres a lot of people that need to be seen but if someone is having symptoms that are worrisome, dont try to rush them out. I went yesterday for absolutely no reason and my answers still have not been answered. Mount Sinai I will def go to instead of here.

Staff is rude. Literally not a single one of them cares about peoples concerns. Your time doesnt matter to them. And know the wait will be OVER 4 hours. They wont even acknowledge you if you inquire about when your turn will be.

Five stars to the two ER persons that treated me with respect and dignity. Edwin Laboy deserves accolades and a higher position. I believe the other nurses name was Awe. Overall the experience was horrendous, but these two are shining gems in that institution and both should be recognized as such.

I’m an employee at the upper east side I had a strong migraine. I got there and they only took my blood pressure and I was waiting for two hours.. And nobody called me, I asked the girl at the front if she knew how long and all she said was “there are ppl that have been waiting longer than you” I understand it’s not her fault but atleast find out how long, or ask somebody. This is unnaceptable, I ended up leaving because nobody bother to find out for me. She don’t eve hesitate while I took my bracelet off telling her that I was leaving.

when I came in this afternoon, it was for something unrelated to my current illness and in regards to severe swelling I’m having in the lower half of my body. When the doctor told me that they’d do ultrasounds on me, I wasn’t expecting it to take FOUR hours for it to actually take place. I also mentioned that because I’d been there so long, it was time for me to take my insulin and eat something. The doctor told me he’d message my nurse and have them bring something so I could get treated, but failed to tell me he was at the end of his shift and wound up leaving without doing anything. So I left too. sad because I was a patient at the Naomie Berrie Clinic for years
