Anna Jacques has been our preferred hospital for care for the past 30 years. Unfortunately the quality of care there has declined so far that I would not recommend anyone to this facility anymore and will seek medical care elsewhere in the future. The ER is so poorly staffed that even on a slow day it took nearly 3 hrs before we were able to have a family member looked at. The room was dirty and even after gaining entry, little attention was given. While the staff was nice, they don’t seem to provide much care.

traumatic experience as a kid who was sent here in my middle school years. witnessed awful mistreatment of other kids and sometimes i was scared for my life because of the workers instead of myself. this place made me worse. if you have a kid that needs mental help, i beg of you not to send them here. i still have nightmares of this place. also, funny addition, one time one of the psychologists they had me sit down with tried convincing me that dogs have no feelings and only respond to pain stimuli and don't truly love you. odd and bizarre experience. told me that my parents were abusive despite me not having said that and the fact that my parents are not abusive, i assume to keep me there longer 'for my safety'. its been years since middle school, i am a high school graduate now, and i still struggle with night terrors of this place. would give negative stars if i could. choose another hospital.

The most horrible Emergency Room staff and department. The nurses have NO bedside manner. The administrative staff have attitude and the entire department is so antiquated. This hospital does massive updates in other areas and the ER is like 1980’s. Beds all in hallways. No HIPAA privacy. Pick up a phone outside the department to get in and staff have to get up to open the door (most with attitude) it’s not my fault you don’t have a release button and so on. The charge nurse Erin was horrible. Would NEVER return to this hospital ER. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and go to other area Hospitals.

I'm amazed they have a 2.0 rating. If I could rate them negative I would. Kept calling and mailing me for $70.00 for a radiology services which was part of a $35,000 workers comp claim. My worker comp insurance company tried to pay it several times but could not make any headway with their Philippines call center. Finally paid them with my own credit card using a completely automated phone service. Beyond horrible 'service' I'm fairly sure someone along the way sold my cell phone number to telemarketers. Had almost no calls in prior decades until I was a patient there and gave them my cell phone number. Beth Israel, the corporation that owns Anna Jacques has been sued for this practice in the past. The medical service itself was good.

i am 13 years old and was sent to this psych ward and boy was it the WORST. the nurses were horrible and definitely racist. i was put on ITP ( it basically means you cant interact with anyone ) for the smallest reason. they said i was a threat to others. the food was horrible and you had absolutely no privacy. the building was also not made to be a ward so it felt like you were in jail. it was inhumane

The mental facility is incredibly abusive. I was sedated by injection because I was crying upon entry (I'm autistic and was there for being suicidal) I wasn't trying to hurt anyone. I wasn't being difficult. I was just crying because I was terrified and didn't want to live. After that, they forced me into isolation for 3 days on a cot that had padded restraints. They threatened me repeatedly that IF I were to act up they'd restrain me. I never acted up or did anything to warrant a threat of any kind. Fast forward a week. At a meeting with the care team, they wanted to put me on a medication I've failed in the past. I then told them about the types of medications that worked for me and the types that don't based on what I've tried. They didn't listen to anything I said. They didn't provide any sort of therapy. After telling them about the types of meds I tried and what I know doesn't help, they told me they weren't going to try to help me anymore and immediately discharged me. They called me a cab, and I was gone within an hour of meeting with them. I would never recommend them to anyone. They are a disgusting organization with outdated practices with only a desire to sedate and control people.

A miserable environment. People here are drones. Michael Tremblay, the guy who hides in his office all day as the director of facilities is a total joke. He is unprofessional and needs to work on his mental health. How he still has a job is beyond me. The President at this hospital is a joke of a leader. It's clear that he coasts and employees are incompetent people at this hospital and he allows for it. They have great people in certain departments but overall the professionalism here is scarce. You be the judge.

Terrible treatment, Couldn't get out of there fast enough. They treat everyone as if they are an addict and offer pain meds to make you go away. Over heard other abusive treatments of patients in the ER as well, disgusting. Lucky I didn't die in their care this week. I'll never go back ever.

I have never experienced such an inexperienced hospital in my life! They dont even have an ER dr. We are too close to Boston and Portsmouth to risk our lives with the anna jaques mess. Dont do it! You will lose your loved one. I worked at AJ and watched the whole show. It needs to be shut down! Disgraceful. They have no excuse. Lazy and inexperienced. A trap!

Until now, I never posted a review. I felt I had to today. I had a small medical emergency (Diverticulitis) while on vacation. The emergency waiting room was disgusting. Candy on the floor with ants everywhere. Very dirty!!! The room I was taken to had dried blood splatter on the floor and was dirty. The only good part of the -6 hour visit was the β€œover worked” nurse practitioner. Doesn’t anyone oversee hospital cleanliness?

The ER Dr and nurses were amazing. The inpatient nurses were excellent also. However, the consulting Gastroenterologist and inpatient NP were atrocious!! Rude, condescending, and dismissive. The inpatient NP I had discontinued medications in my chart and started the discharge process two hours before she even saw me. I had never seen her before. She said it was just a "timing issue" which was a complete lie. She did all this without even seeing me or examining me. I also believe she tampered with my med orders after I pointed out that I could see everything on the Patient Portal. I will be reporting her to the Hospital administration and the licensing board. I gave one star because the ER staff and other nurses were absolutely incredible but my overall experience with the Hospitalist, Consulting Gastroenterologist, and NP were so bad I didn't feel safe in their inpatient care.

Long wait times, and the quality of care the patient gets is terrible the emergency room nurses are on painkillers the lab department is bad the radiology department is dirty and has red bugs in waiting room and the MRI technician has to be on drugs his attitude and poor hygiene will make you sick. The only thing good about this hospital is when you finally leave.

I gave birth here twice, the doctors, nurses, and facilities were fantastic. I also had to arrive at the ER twice, I went early in the morning both times and got a room immediately. Like any hospitals there are delays to get blood, tests, and answers - especially as they get busier during the day. But both of those visits went smoothly and everyone I spoke to, including the ER doctors, NP, and other folks running CT, MRI, and Ultrasounds, were caring and friendly. My only compliant is their rules about visitors and miscommunication with upstairs and downstairs, the registration people were very rude and turned my little ones away after I had already cleared and had approval for them to visit my room. Lesson learned: make sure you re-confirm and communicate with your nursing staff to warn the registration folks. They told me some (my words: irresponsible/dumb) parents had snuck their little kids into a COVID ward and now we all have to suffer.

Not Safe They do not follow basic care guidelines. 10/27/23: post partum preeclampsia with BP 160/95, heart rate running in the 40s. After tests that were on cell phone before seen by providers and hours, the doctor comes in and states they will start her on Labetalol, which lowers heart rate despite her already having significant bradycardia. A nurse came to give her IV zofran for vomiting, the peripheral line had no blood return on either lumen and immediate pain with flushing. It was clearly infiltrated, she gave the med anyway and then was going to run a 1000ml bag knowing the line was blown. When I told her the line was infiltrated she stated β€œ I’ve been a nurse for 20 years”. I am unsure how that supports poor practice. I did not feel my sister was in the care of safe or competent staff. From the providers to the nurses the information and treatment plan was reckless. 10/18/23: planned induction 3 days long, 23 hours of labor after my sisters water had broken, they inserted a foley balloon to assist in dialating her this introduced bacteria into a clean wound causing her and the baby into an emergency Chorioamnionitis. She was incoherent with a fever of 103 and the babies heart rate was over 200. After her and the baby were stabilized she had a C section. This was high risk due to recent infection and she initially had inadequate anesthesia.

Hospital staff is rude and unhelpful, they don't know the hours of their own referrals/ departments, the number they give you to call the diabetes clinic goes to a voicemail that nobody ever checks. No communication between their lab locations and the hospital, alternative lab locations seem to be closed due to staffing 95% of the time but nobody will bother to tell you that, you'll have to drive all the way to the hospital and let's hope they have you your lab req form and didn't fax it to the closed facility because the main hospital WONT have it. Their OB department Womens Healthcare sucks too

After my family having gone to Anna Jaques periodically for almost 30 years in multiple departments, and most recently in ER, I feel compelled to express how appalled I am at the negative and nasty culture that is pervasive there. It has to come from management for it to be so absolutely horrible. This is not to say, that I have not experienced some kind and caring individuals there that are inherently good in spite of their surroundings. But, I will never go to Anna Jaques again in any circumstances that I have any control over. This place is so abusive, and insulting to patients who are actually seeking β€œcare.”

I had to get my blood drawn and I always have to say that I am not good with needles. I instantly get queasy and sweaty. Meghan was kind and patient when I told her, she tried once and was unable to find a vein. So then she got Jennifer. Jennifer was so sweet and quick (also helpful) It was over in a minute. Both ladies handle my nerves so well and I appreciated it. If you have to get blood drawn I would recommend going here.

I was seen on 09/24/2023 at 9:30a at the emergency department for 10/10 back pain. I was in the area camping when I injured my back and was a bit apprehensive going to a hospital that I was unfamiliar with. Every single person I encountered at Anna Jaques was phenomenal! The front desk, the nurses, the CT tech and the doctor were incredible. I have never experienced such great bedside manners and compassionate care in my life. Thank you so much for taking such great care of me! I would give this hospital 10 stars if I could.

I went here due to mental health struggles about 2-3 months ago, and the help I got was amazing! I had gone to Hampstead before this, and the difference was insane. I don’t know if everyone will get the same feel, but I feel this place was great help!

I was on the psychiatric unit. They only had a doctor virtually. She did absolutely nothing for me. The staff were rude and unprofessional. The nurse gave me an ice pack for anxiety. They didn't know what they were doing with my meds. The only thing that they gave me was benedryl. I left on the same medication that I came in. I called and filed a complaint with the state of Massachusetts. Dr. Philip was so rude and unprofessional

Spent 4 days in the birth center, so this only pertains to the birth center. The nurses, doctors, and other staff went above and beyond helping my girl, and our newborn son. They were super kind, just as helpful, and you could tell they really care about the people they are caring for. 11 out of 10 fantastic experience. Thank you all for everything, i never could have expected that level of care.

I gave birth here in March and it was the best experience. I definitely am planning on coming back if I have more children. Our nurses and cleaning staff were beyond amazing.

Had head wound needing staples which to roughly 3.5hrs to complete the visit. Given the ER was not that busy w/patients, a few in the waiting room, the space itself has very limited rooms set aside to accommodate patients eventually placing some in the halls. Unfortunately we were told the extra hr wait was due to the shift change over which is ridiculous that it can't be a quicker or staggered exchange to expedite patients care faster w/out losing quality. For instance, they should have ordered a Cat-scan prior to the shift ending, very unorganized. No one came to us for more than an hour after the initial intake. When the nurses/aids were present they were great. As for making us comfortable like thinking to offer fluids or anything for the pain we had to initiate but there wasn't the mindset to offer. The facility itself is run down, even some of the bathrooms have holes in the wall looking like they've been like that for a while. If you can't take care of the small stuff how are you going to take care of the big stuff?! The cafeteria, well, that's another embarrassment in itself... They could do so much more to make this a thriving hospital, especially within a community of financial means. I gave my stars to the nurses care who were doing their best.

This is specifically for the birth center- my entire journey from the women’s health care practice to the labor was an amazing experience, from the midwives, nurses, LC & the OBs. While I had a long labor I felt heard and validated in the choices I made and empowered to make the decisions that were best for my partner and I. The l&d nurses were great motivators and I couldn’t the birth of our son any better, thank you all!

While I would give the ladies doing my PET scan 5 stars, I can't say the same for the hospital. I arrived for an 11:45 appointment only to be told I was supposed to have been contacted and told it had been changed to 4:40. None of this was within the control of the imaging department but they went out of their way to get me in asap. It was still almost a four hour visit. They definitely need to up their communication game. These visits are stressful enough...:/

I had the best birthing experience thanks to the labor team at Anna Jaques! Ever since the welcome visit I knew this was the perfect place to deliver my first child. The moment you step foot in this hospital, everyone is as sweet as can be. The classes were absolutely perfect and very helpful. The nurses went above and beyond and I could not be more grateful. They made my labor feel warm and cozy even throughout the madness. I will definitely be back to have all my babies there. Once again, thank you! I appreciate all that you do.

Having a hard time keeping up with medical bills I have. Called to offer paying one of my bills for a reduced amount, but would pay it all at once right away since I wont have the money soon. First person I spoke to gave me an attitude over the idea and refused to help saying they never do this. This is news to me since I have had to do it before. Guess my bill is going to collections and I'll settle it with them instead and this hospital wont get anything. I work in the medical field and I'll be sure to make sure I can keep as many people from this joke of a hospital as possible.

I gave birth here in the middle of 2020. I could never say enough good things about the nurses in the maternity ward, I absolutely adored them and they made my experience so easy and pleasant. From birthing to the two days after- I was at ease every step with them. The lactation nurse was probably the only damper, but I’ll take 1 mean nurse for the 5 great nurses I had.
