Went there for my birthday last night. The guys serving us throughout the night were awesome. Great service. The drinks there were great (would recommend going there for a drink) but the food was another issue. We ordered approximately around 830 ordering several bar snacks and then mains. The bar snacks were served for us to share and then the main meals were brought out at the same time the entrees were. The staff person was apologetic and offered to keep the dishes warm under the heat lamp. Bar snacks were nice enough then when the table was cleared our mains were brought out. Was very very disappointing as all our food was cold. A cold pizza, pasta, burgers and salmon. Sent the salmon back because it was stone cold. The server was again apologetic about it but ultimately it ruined a birthday dinner having to eat cold dinners. Chef was 100% at fault as they just made the food hoping to finish early. Very puzzling as well because you are allowed to book tables at 830 but the kitchen closes 20 minutes later. Lack of communication from both kitchen and FOH to customers resulted in a night where over $200 on food was wasted with cold mains. Don't go there for food.

The pizza was tasty on a nice base and the cocktail menu was extensive. Good atmosphere and ambience. Only two things that I would suggest could be changed. 1. The menu is on dark paper and in the dark atmosphere it was a bit hard to read. A higher contrast between the paper and the print would be better. Also the cushions on the booths were a bit sad and flat and kept slipping forward. Perhaps a little cushion update would be a good idea. I'm not complaining at all, just some constructive criticism.

Great selection of drinks and food. Nothing was short of great. Sitting outside with heaters was a lot of fun.

Fantastic collection of whiskeys. The bar staff were really friendly. Had some nibbles and was pleasantly surprised.

We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes drive away from home to celebrate this milestone. The Blind Monk Bar has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide wine list and beers all at a reasonable price. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. They know what they’re doing and you can tell making the customers happy is a main priority. I recommend to everyone!

Had our anniversary party held here. What an awesome space. The food was awesome with a good variety on the menu. Such a good selection of beers on tap. Will most definitely be back again. Keep doing what you're doing.

We recently held my 40th birthday party at the blind monk in the Priory room. The room was private with easy access to the bar along with its own bathroom facilities. The food was delicious, the platter sizes generous and value for money was good. We were able to decorate the room how we wanted and play our own music. The staff leading up to the event and on the night were very helpful and accommodating. Can definitely recommend the blind monk.

Cocktails are amazing and the entrees were tasty and great for sharing. I will definitely be back for another wonderful afternoon.

5 stars. Bit noisy, but so what. They accommodated when asked if we could turn it down (it would still be 5 stars even if they didn't... they have a business to run and I'm not their only customer). The food was delicious. The options on tap are bountiful. The seating options are varied and allow for different comfort styles. The staff were kind and approachable. Great choice in music. This is probably the 10th time going there and always at different times of day. Love it.

We had a 21st party in the function room. The room itself has no hire fee and is perfect. It has a fabulous feel it’s spacious, has its on heating, toilets, audio and has perfect options for those who wanted to seat or stand. The food was fabulous - we had various platter options, and the staff amazing (so helpful). Everybody had a great time and I would highly recommend the Blind Monk function room for those considering a party or event.

Top notch place! Visited for drinks and nibbles because I was staying close by overnight and I'm so glad I did! Amazing dumplings at only $1ea!, Cocktails were also amazing, arancini balls were the best I've had in a while. We had plans to go elsewhere for dinner but ended up staying and drinking cocktails and more food because we were enjoying ourselves so much. Staff were also very lovely! Highly recommend visiting!

Service was sensational, the staff were soo lovely and friendly, food was delicious and came out very quickly and the cocktails we’re the yummiest I’ve ever had !! I highly highly recommend this place as it’s perfect for a date night, work party or a general get together and you won’t be disappointed !!

We held our daughters 18th in the function room. We couldn’t have been happier with the service and the staff. The food was excellent and the night was enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to all the team at the Blind Monk for making this special night a wonderful memory for our family.

Really enjoyed the beers and the girl behind the bar had some great recommendations for local craft beer bottle shops. I had Moore beer neipa and the mountain culture moon dust stout. Highly recommended

Food it brilliant!! Classic cocktails are made really well, however, some of the signature cocktails aren't great. They're fine and I would happily drink them, however, I personally wouldn't order them again. That being said, I have only tried a few of them; not all.

A must-have. Strongly recommend trying this place out. There are heaps of different drinks and meals but the staff are so amazingly nice, informative and helpful. Ask them for help and they'll sort you out. I'll be back for sure.

Wow! Had my birthday here Friday night and am super impressed at how allocating and efficient the staff are. They were so accommodating to my large booking and didn’t mind when I had to make number changes. The drinks and food came out quickly and they were fantastic! Plus, the atmosphere is great, perfect for anyone really. Thank you and I will be back!

Thank you to the blind monk for a wonderful night. I had my 50th here and I am extremely happy with the entire evening. We could not have booked a better venue. It was awesome! The function room out the back was perfect. We had our own music playing, the food was yummy and there was plenty of it. I asked for a cocktail that wasn’t on the list and the bar staff were accommodating which I appreciated. A big thank you to all the staff for looking after us, we will definitely be back and I would highly recommend for a great night out.

My partner and I celebrated our engagement on 14th and had a fantastic time. The service was great and food was brought out on time with a great variety of nibbles. Staff were very kind in going through the music system and allowed us to play our own music and enjoy the night throughout. Definitely a place we would recommend for hosting an event

The place was beautiful and their fries were good but I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and I wasn’t impressed. It had a nice crunch but the meat was so thin that it was hard to see in the sandwich. I’m not used to chicken sandwiches like that. The breading was twice the size of the chicken and I’m wondering if they thinly sliced it paper thin to save on money or something. For the price it definitely wasn’t worth it.

Nice vibe at this pub and excellent selection of beers and whisky available. Went on a Friday night and very busy - food ordered was 45 minutes plus to be delivered, nothing major but quite slow for bar snacks. Service friendly and a decent place to meet friends and people watch on Beaumont Street.

Great place for lunch, sit outside, and enjoy the people watching. QR code ordering makes it very easy. Big plus beer, wine, or cider, only $2 a glass with lunch. The salmon salad was delicious. Winner

We just had our sons surprise 21st here and we couldn't have been happier. The space was great, the food fantastic and the staff incredibly accommodating! The only downside would be random people kept walking in not knowing it was a private function. Maybe a sign or something would help? Will definitely use this space again if needed. Thank you!

My fiance and I booked the blind monk function space for our engagement party and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The space was perfect and private, and the staff were extremely helpful and efficient. Would definitely recommend them for any event, and will be booking with them again in the future!

Probably one of the best burgers I’ve had. The Chicken Bacon and Brie with fries. And the Good Folk TPA was a perfect compliment for only $9. Brewed next door and deliciously fresh. Busy fun atmosphere on a Tuesday night. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks team.

We just went down Beaumont Street and saw the Blind Monk being open with a great atmosphere. The drinks were very well done and the service is very friendly. He even explained me how he did my cocktail with such a passion that I will be back for more.

We come here a lot, but we need to come here more. Pizzas are AMAZING!!! Arancini balls to die for!!! Cocktails are probably the best in Newcastle. - Love from some regulars, who have been hanging out for the Monk since iso started

This is honestly the best place to go for cocktails in Newcastle. If you haven't been try it out, even if cocktails arent your thing they have an extensive drinks menu, great food and quality service.

The cocktail was fantastic, but the girls working was unnecessarily rude from the moment we stepped in. My friend and I both work hospo and we were stunned how awful we were treated.
