Stayed for two nights for a business trip-the room was very comfortable and warm. It was equipped with everything needed from tea/coffee supplies to extra blankets and hairdryer. Kevin was very kind and the whole guest house is super cozy. I would definitely reccomend this especially given how comfortable it is!

Kevin has been so helpful, he couldn't do enough for us. My mother in law had to stay near Stoke hospital to be near her husband, and we live 5 hours away, so it was a relief when we managed to book a couple of nights for her here. The guest house is cosy, clean and friendly, there is free parking around, and they were very flexible and understanding. Thank you! Joanna

Owner was really lovely and accommodating even stayed up past check in time as my bus broke down on the way here. Additionally, he also upgraded my room free of charge

Kevin, the owner of this place was very nice. Such a gentleman. He was very polite and caring. The room which I was given was very good. Clean place. There is a guest room in common at the ground floor with dining area as well. Breakfast will be served at 7:00am to 8:00am. Separate access keys and room keys were provided on arrival. The room was equipped with a small fridge and towels were also provided. There was some separate parking spaces for the residents. I highly recommend this place for one person and I don’t think it’s very expensive.

Superb service, the manager here came to my rescue during a desperate situation when I was burgled at an AirBnb I was staying at during the night. Amazing service, lovely breakfast and extremely polite staff. I really appreciate all the help!

Very good hotel, well equipped rooms, very nice home cooked breakfast from very nice hosts. Good location. Our room was on the front of the building on a main road, even with the window open it wasn't too noisy.

I stayed at Clayhanger as i was working in the area. The owners and staff were really lovely and were always at hand with just a phone call. The room was tidy but very tired looking. There weren't any surfaces where I could prepare hot drinks or make my sandwiches for work. The carpet was very stained and the room really needed to be cleared and cleaned thoroughly. There was also someone trying my door at 10.20pm one night. I'm a woman travelling alone and I know this was no fault of the owners but it was quite frightening for me.

Excellent stay staff were very polite and helpful. Location was ideal just a couple of minor issues with my room. Main door was stiff to shut without banging it hard and the kettle which sat on top of the microwave couldn't be plugged in without moving the microwave first. Bed was very comfortable though.

Can't complain at all. The room was small, but for a nights stay, you cannot ask for more. The room was tidy, room temperature was just right, and had my own little sink. Would be nice to at minimum have an on-suite toilet, rather than a shared bathroom but that's only a minor gripe. Breakfast was included in the price, but I left very early in the morning before it was served so can't comment.

Perfectly good room, comfortable enough beds, ideally located for our needs. Couldn't have been better placed. Should we find ourselves booked at The Rigger again we'll be back to The Clayhanger

We paid for what was advertised as a full English breakfast only to be told that only scrambled eggs were on the menu, which is not what we paid for. I don't know why this was the case, we had no explanation. Rooms are basic and tired, but clean.

A very pleasant overnight stay - the proprietor made us feel most welcome, and the twin room was snug, but very comfortable (not ensuite). Thank you for having us; we would happily return.

Was in the area for a wedding. Lovely, charming little guesthouse with snug rooms and thick carpeting. Breakfast was simple but pleasant and the hosts cook eggs for you how you'd like them. Kevin and his wife were the most attentive and accommodating hosts I’ve ever had. It seems like it should be much more expensive than it actually is. Would definitely recommend.

Our room was small and the bed was tiny and uncomfortable. It said it was a double, but it felt even smaller. The pillows were thick and hard. One of the worst nights sleep I've ever had. The room had a fridge in it, but it was really noisy so we switched it off at night. The shower was good though. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate was provided in the room. The staff were friendly. We didn't pay for breakfast, as there are good cafes in walking distance. Free parking is available to the rear of the property or on the street in the evenings. If you want a drink, the Victoria a few doors up is good.
