Food mediocre and expensive. Staff were overly attentive when we arrived then we had to summon them when we wanted to order. No fire lit and the whole place felt decidely cold. Seem to have new staff, some rather shabbily dressed which has never been the case on previous visits. Not very busy either which is unusual. Soft drink prices unbelievable! Was always a good place to eat and great atmosphere. Won't be returning here unless they up their game. Such a shame.

Just returned from lunch at restaurant absolutely frozen. Mentioned it several times to waitresses as they have an open fireplace which manager reluctant to light. Result few tables occupied and most people resorting to wearing top coats. Food quite poor value despite use of vouchers as plates were cold and turkey unappealing to say the least. Usually enjoy this venue but this visit ensures we won’t be returning in a hurry. Really need to up their game as not many customers as so darned cold.

Went for a family pre-christmas meal earlier today, and was very impressed. The variety on the menu was nice to see, service was fast and attentive, and it felt like a nice friendly atmosphere. Radiators were a touch too warm, and unfortunately due to the layout of the tables we were close to it for a while. This meant a couple of our party had to keep stepping out, but we were grateful to the restaurant for fitting such a large party as ourselves in, so not a big gripe really!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Hand & Trumpet, our local pub, and I must say it was an overall delightful experience that deserves a solid 5-star rating. This charming establishment impressed me in various aspects, including the staff, service, food quality, and atmosphere. First and foremost, the staff at the Hand & Trumpet were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout my visit. They greeted me with warm smiles and made sure I felt comfortable and well-cared for during my entire stay. Their exceptional service truly added to the overall enjoyment of my evening. Speaking of service, I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency and professionalism of the waitstaff. My orders were promptly taken, and the food was served in a timely manner. It's rare to find such a well-coordinated team in a local pub, and it made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Now, let's talk about the food quality. The Hand & Trumpet exceeded my expectations with its delectable offerings. Each dish was prepared to perfection, showcasing a blend of flavors that left my taste buds dancing with delight. From the starters to the main course, the culinary skills displayed here are truly commendable. The atmosphere at the Hand & Trumpet was another highlight of my visit. Despite it being a quiet evening, the ambiance was cozy and inviting. The rustic decor and dim lighting created a warm and intimate setting that was perfect for a relaxing dinner. It's a great place to unwind and enjoy good company. However, there were a few minor downsides to my experience. The menu itself was a bit random, and the dishes didn't seem to have a cohesive theme. While the food was undeniably delicious, I couldn't help but feel that some of the options could be better curated to create a more harmonious dining experience. Additionally, I couldn't help but miss the Ploughman's lunch that used to be available at the Hand & Trumpet. It was a favorite of mine, and I hope they consider bringing it back in the future. In conclusion, the Hand & Trumpet is a hidden gem in our local dining scene. The outstanding staff, impeccable service, top-notch food quality, and inviting atmosphere make it a must-visit establishment. While there were some minor menu quirks, they did little to diminish the overall excellence of the experience. I eagerly look forward to my next visit to the Hand & Trumpet and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.
