Food was shocking. Went their to let the kids have a play in the indoor play area. Cost me £10 odd for 2 hrs play for 3 children. Ordered food the starters were dreadful it was ment to be cheesey nachos, which were burnt and hard as rocks. It had hardly any cheese on and the salsa was just chopped up tomatoes. We sent the starters back and complained and asked them to send the mains out. The fish was overcooked and dry. The steak was ment to be medium and came rare and cold. Again I sent it back and asked for it to be cooked more. They decides to give me a fresh one and that was just the same rare and cold in the middle . So took a photo of the second one. Felt so sorry for the young waitress who didn't know why the food was coming out so bad. In hindsight I should have asked to speak to a manager but we decided just to come home and eat instead. Update: called and spoke to manager who was very pleasant and offered to resolve the matter I came back to the restaurant which I'm going to do now shortly.

Arrived tonight got a table a member of staff told us it would be an hour and half wait hardly anyone in there. And that they had run out of a lot of things on the menu So decided that we would just feed the kids and get ourselfs something after. Ordered the kids food told that the meals would be an hour as there only kids meal arrived my son ordered kickin chicken ended up with crispy fish that looked like they had just cut a fish into pieces. The other 3 children ordered burger and chips but the buns were quite close to being burnt and the burger wasn't great chips where bit over cooked. I've been here before and it wasn't the best then but gave it a second chance. Would I recommend here no waiting times are a joke food is questionable in the end after the kids ate a bit we just left . Also the refill pop is flat and tasteless.

Ordered the Big Stack burger, asked for no salad and no sauce. The burger didn't contain any but still put coleslaw on the plate. Ordered a portion of loaded onion rings which when arrived had extra sauce that I did not order, I then asked the waitress what the other sauce is but she didn't know so went and asked someone else. Turned out to be BBQ sauce, I was not asked if I was fine with that on, the waitress just walked away. When my plate was taken away the dish of the loaded onion rings was still full and they took it away as if it was empty. Not just 1 waitress ignored the fact I hadn't touched the onion rings but 3 different ones in total yet nothing was done about it. The ice cream sundae took as long if not longer to arrive than the main meal.

The Kitchen at this pub POISONS it customers!!!!! I visited with my partner for the first time and we both had the half price burger deal. Wish we hadn't bothered as six hours after I had the big stack burger I had diarrhea and an upset stomach. It was definitely caused by a lack of hygiene in the kitchen of this pub!!!!! Probably a useless teenage herbert in the kitchen I was ill for TWO days. Needless to say we WILL NOT be visiting this pub again!! I do not pay good money to pubs who then POISON me!

My wife's lunch was dry and extremely hot like it had been over done in the microwave. Then had to wait 50mins for basic pudding. When I spoke to the waitress she said that they were not busy. Wonder why ?

I have been staying here for the past 3 weeks with work. I have to say that without exception, everyone of the staff are very friendly. I and greeted every morning at breakfast by Lesley who does A great job and Beth is always running round working very hard serving the food, always with a friendly smile. I need to mention Jade, who is often in of an evening. She has a wonderful personable way about her. I have seen on a number of occasions helping the other members of staff in a very caring way, and Jude also deserves a mention. On the desk, Rosie and Josh always have a smile when I come in after work, nothing is too much trouble. There is also a young lady who works behind the bar and is pregnant, she always has a smile for every customer and has wonderful people skills. Thank you to the whole team. I’m not sure who the manager is, but they can be very proud of every single member of staff. Thank you all Xx

After so many good experiences here the last was disappointing. There were different staff. The service wasn't great, looked like all the responsibility had been but onto a young girls shoulders. The food was mediocre and drinks seem more watery than usual.

I don't have much words because it's just great here. The food isn't overpriced and if you want a nice bite to eat its perfect! Not had a bad experience and it's mine and my mums go to lunch place. The staff are friendly too and plenty of car parking :) Update.. had the festive menu today and it was the best dinner I've had in a long while. Even beat a carvery!

We have breakfast here regularly. The food is excellent & plentiful, my compliments to Mick the chef who always cooks my eggs bang on how i ask for them, to my liking. Also the staff serving, Beth & especially Lesley who always is extremely busy but gives excellent service with a customer focused attitude, nothing is too much trouble for her. Highly recommend.

Visited with a friend yesterday to enjoy the festive menu. We had booked a table in advance. On ordering at the bar, unfortunately, they didn't have my friends starter in stock. We received our glasses and filled up on the unlimited drinks deal. The starters arrived fairly quickly, I enjoyed my mac and cheese bites, but they were a little greasy. My friends soup was covered in basil oil, which was unpleasant. She left most of it, but this was never queried as we waited ages for our main courses and had to ask if they were ready. We both enjoyed our main courses, I had the festive burger, and she had the turkey dinner. Both were piping hot and perfectly cooked. We then waited ages again and had to request our puddings. We both had a sundae, and they were fresh made, no complaints. We observed a severe lack of staff. Once you did speak to a staff member, they were very pleasant and helpful. Tables were left uncleared, and the place looked dirty. Under our table hadn't been cleaned, and the remnants from other meals were clear. It was such a shame as the food was delicious and piping hot, but nearly 3 hours to have a 3 course meal is ridiculous.

Breakfast buffet apparently not in use as it’s quiet in the week we were told on arrival. I’m thinking that’s actually a great idea so the food is going to be cooked fresh obviously. Don’t make assumptions.. the bacon had clearly been cooked many hours earlier. The hash browns could have been used as doorstops. Might as well have had the buffet on, at least we could have seen the food before selecting it!! Staff did fresh bacon on request as the initial offering was inedible but you could see that, any basic chef could have seen the same. Pure laziness, bacon takes less than 5 minutes to cook so why cook enough for a whole shift at 6am?!

Stayed on our way back to Scotland. My daughter is coeliac and struggles to get food anywhere. However they had a full range of gluten free food for breakfast. My daughter was delighted. The chef and the staff were so helpful. Absolutely made our trip. Well done Brewers fayre

Arrived at a "busy" time around 6pm Sunday to be told there was 1 hour wait for food (tables only looked about 50% in use) Decided to have coffe while waiting. Went for the free refill at the machine to be faced by large clouds of steam from it while trying to brew the coffee - scalding hazard it I hadn't stepped back in time. It was reported to the bar staff who then came to refill the milk. on the second attempt it managed quarter measures and displayed a fault code on the machine (time and date on the machine are wrong on the photo) After an hour and 15mins without food we asked about the meal, to be told that it had been brought out and called out. It had been taken to a table 20 numbers from ours. We had to produce our receipt then wait another 15 minutes for the food. The meal wasn't bad when it did arrive and one of the servers brought a full coffee to the table. This is obviously a family oriented venue so families with young children probably wouldn't be too bothered by a wait while the kids played.

We went for breakfast. Quality was pretty good overall. Good selection of food on the breakfast buffet - full English, continental, cereals, etc. Service was good. Great value if you have kids, as kids eat for free (two children per full paying adult).

I am really impressed with the service we receive in The Redwood, Brewers fayre, the staff are lovely and helpful.. Helen is very conscientious and friendly, in fact Helen, Becky, Beth and Gabbie go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. I've been coming here with my grandson and we always enjoy our visits. Thank you ladies, you are wonderful at your jobs. Bless you all 🥰

Another fabulous experience at The Redwood. Fantastic front of house service from Lesley and Jade. And beautiful freshly cooked food (inc. black pudding 😂) from Mick which was served in less than the time it took for the toaster to cook the toast. Can't fault the quality and £10 for all you can eat is certainly value for money. Would give it more than 5 stars if it was possible.

Usual pub grub but always nice. The lunchtime 2 meals for £12? Is always worth taking advantage of. The staff are always welcoming.

Not been here since it was taken over we used to love it when it was Taybarns my first experience wasn't great here this week, sticky dirty tables, party shoved in a tiny corner by the toilets when there was plenty more space elsewhere, 3 mini profiteroles for nearly 5 quid!!! I thought it was a childs portion when she brought it out, mum hardly had any custard on her Roly Poly pudding, hardly any chips on her plate and medium rare steak came out cremated will definitely stick to Hanley one where they have lovely staff and table service and just generally a nicer restaurant will not be returning here I'm afraid we are in a cost if living crisis so when I spend my hard earned precious cash I expect better sorry

Stayed for three days. Food is fine like any other pub. They have good deals that you can take advantage of. I felt that the breakfast menu needs some improvement and they should offer a few more options. Other than that, it was a good experience overall.

Some of my food was charred to much.(chicken) Rest of the food was lovely. However the wait for over an hour after ordering was abit much and same with getting desserts rather slow.

Bought my 3 year old to celebrate her birthday, staff went above and beyond putting little hats and sweets out. She had a wonderful time with family. Staff were excellent and really deserve some credit. I'll definitely be back. Thankyou so much for making a little girl have a great birthday

Brilliant breakfasts, excellent choice of English and continental! For the price it's absolutely fantastic! What truly sets it apart from other places is that children eat free.

Here is a Restaurant People are entitled to have different views. I looked out on passing Talke pits traffic (high quality taxis and lorries). One of my 4 husbands with me looked only at the Lady dining at the next table (old woman aged between 56 and 60 is my guess). We tried to make friends with the other guests. Chloe stood up and sang the national anthem beautifully as loud as she could. The waiters and then the Manager had nothing good to say, not the slightest round of applause. In the circumstance, I thought the silence was selfish and unkind. The Police had a completely different attitude. The ice cream was to cold Overall, who cares. I really don't like Ice cream that much. However, Chloe loves onion rings do the pure taste of grease after her fantastic singing efforts did not go down well. After spending 300 pound coins in the child’s ball novelty conning toy display I was very dissatisfied that I didn’t get the correct paw patrol character Interestingly the staff gave me a free packet of pork scratchings I felt that this was the highlight of Dinner at redwood . I shall be returning often and Chloe will sing whenever she wants. Ok ? But we expect a round of applause and for the child’s play area to have more balls to add to the fun. Xxxx

We have eaten many times here. While the food maybe mediocre we have never complained. Yesterday however although there were only two other couples in we waited 30 minutes for our meal. We were ok with that it was delivered cold I politely told the waitress and she took it away. She put it in front of us again and it was still cold. Except for a little piece in the middle. At this point we gave up and left. I think we shall maybe give this place a miss in future. The management seems to have taken a nose dive sadly.

Despite being just before Christmas, the restaurant was unusually quiet. Booking a table was easy enough and the menu had plenty of options. We were especially impressed with the ability to choose from a gluten free menu with additional options for dairy free requirements. The meal was pleasant enough, and any issues with the meals were rectified (one meal came out part cold, as though it had been cooked too soon). Staff were helpful enough throughout our visit. Whilst our visit wasn't the best, I would happily try the establishment again to find out if different staffing changes the experience.

I recently had a bad experience at a restaurant. The food was incredibly bland and lacked any sort of flavor. The service was also poor - the waitstaff seemed disinterested and inattentive. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my visit and would not recommend this restaurant to others. Save yourself the disappointment and choose a different dining option.

  • 1/5 Christopher H. 1 year ago on Google
The overall experience was very poor. Food took ages to come out and the place was very quiet. When the food arrived it was missing items and my burger was barely warm. My burger came with 4 roast potatoes and nothing else. Not as advertised. When I asked my server for an update on my dessert that I had been waiting for for 30 mins, I never got a reply. In the end I asked for a refund on the desserts, which was granted. I was asked of my food was ok, after I had eaten it all. I told them that it was just about eadable...there reply. Oh ok! No care whatsoever! I won't be visiting again and I would advise anyone else to avoid the place as well.

I can't believe you can mess up scrambles eggs, but you can it seems. The burger was dry, the curry had no spices, I could go on. I think only the starters were acceptable. The food just wasn't good.

Enjoyed a lunch time booking with friends here running towards Christmas 2022. Great food, helpful staff, nice clean setting. We chose from the back of the menu having the 2 for £8.99 day time offering and were very happy with the selection, portion size and quality. A big thumbs up. We shall definitely be returning.

We recently booked this venue for the wake after my uncles funeral. We chose the £9.99 per person buffet plus desserts and it was lovely. Plenty of food and a nice variety. We were in the conservatory area and we were there all afternoon/evening. The staff were friendly & helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend as it’s very close to Bradwell Crem. It was handy for alot of our family travelling back down South after as it’s so close to the A500 and some of the family were staying next door at the Premier Inn. Everyone thought it was a lovely place to hold the wake.

Such a shame, I have been here a few times over the years bit last night has made me re think about if I want to return again. In the past we have never had a problem apart from the odd time we have waited longer than usual and that kind of thing I can understand. Last night started fine. Good choice on the menu as you find with this chain. It started going down bank when I went to order the food. My daughter aged 9 wanted flat bread for starter with rump steak, chips corn and peas, no flatbread had been brought to her, I also asked for my main to come without coleslaw but guess what that never happened. Just small things make a big difference. The last thing which could of been so easy to make a big difference was when I asked for the drinks. My wife is diabetic so I asked if she could have the Berry blast cocktail but instead of using standard lemonade with sugar in could it be replaced with the sugar free variant you sell. I was told that this was not possible and I would have to pay extra for the lemonade on top. Wow. What a great service given there. It really brought a downer on the eating out experience and made me question if I had been listened to. Just as my daughter was eating her pancakes at the very end a waitress came over and then asked if she had finished and if she could take the plate. She had not even finished eating it. I have no idea if its down to change of management but you really can tell a drop in the service and quality.

The food and service was appalling. This was our first family meal out since covid. Think i will stay home and cook in future. The staff had no interest in rectifying problems and openly slammed our plates down after we complained.

It got two stars for the nice staff. Food was so awful I had a burger and chips, the burger was crunchy, the cheese was cremated no side garnish My son had chicken club sandwich presentation none existant. If my two year old grandson wasnt with us and he is 2 otherwise all food would have been returned. I havent had food this bad for ages. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot.. sadly won't return. It wasn't cheap either it was okay price.

Waited 45 minutes for breakfast, still not here. Our 6 yr old and 9 yr both crying as they are hungry. We can only see one employee, who is working very hard managing tables for 30+ people. I don’t think it’s fair on the employee. Needs better management.

  • 1/5 Carla May G. 2 years ago on Google
Staff trying their best but so many menu items unavailable. No salad on burger, no pizza, no mash because they'd 'run out' (Shows the mash is from a frozen bag because they did have other potato based items) burger was really poor because of no trimmings and salad and no discount offered, no chicken dinner, ordered a big Yorkshire pud with sausage but it just came with regular Yorkshires, no fried onions as advertised, and no mash! They put about 6 chips on there instead, it was almost funny if we hadn't been so hungry from a long day! Portion sizes absolutely shocking - my kids aren't big eaters but they ate everything and left hungry. We even had to stop at McDonald's afterwards. We regularly visit our local brewer's fayre and we don't have huge expectations as know it's just standard, half decent pub grub but this was just terrible. If you're not going to serve what is advertised at least offer a discount.

Not even running at half capacity and food took over an hour to arrive. Watched one family cancel and ask for money back. Whilst others were in same boat as me. Kids play area was good and safe.
