Celebrated my great aunt's 97th birthday at Fort Fun in Huntington Park yesterday! Plenty of space, grill, and some seating. However, you should be prepared to bring additional chairs. Also parking was horrible. Although they did allow parking on the grass. The water view was beautiful as well. Nice park with an awesome playground for the kids!

I must give Huntington Beach 5 STARS solely for the OUTRAGEOUSLY AMAZING sunset views. I didn't want to leave until the very last minute!

I love coming out here for peace of mind. It's never over crowded and watching the sunset is beautiful from this location

Great place to walk on a small, quiet beach. Free parking.

This was a hidden gem after stumbling through while cycling the Noland Trail area. I did not expect it to be such a quaint or ideal spot to watch the sunset, but it is a beautiful spot to go and relax with your family. There is a playground for your kids, a small beach area to access and a pier to view the sunset in Newport News.

Very clean , I always appreciate that! I know it's hard considering the amount of trash out there. It's thrown out car windows as if it's nothing!! No big deal!! I love our planet & Nature being outdoors, so I do get so very very FRUSTRATED when it comes to littering and the people who think NOTHING of it!

Ordinarily I'd give all free parks and beaches 5 stars simply because they are free but although this park is still quite aesthetic, the water is not the best to go into. There are even signs warning there may be hazardous material in there so enter at your own risk. There is also a bit of trash here and there but that's a people problem, not the park's fault. Swimming aside, this is still a very nice area just to walk around in the off season and enjoy the sand and the sound of the gentle waves. There are volleyball nets, restrooms, a lifeguard center, shelters, a couple of benches, and a kids playground. The kids playground is pirate themed and there's plenty of things for the kids to climb and burn energy on. There is one particularly whimsical looking tree across from the shelters that would be great for a photoshoot.

Bathrooms are very clean an smell like they have been sanitized!! The beach itself is okay. Not the most clean. We did see a boat and jet ski, which I'm assuming a dock is close by. Small but gets the job done.

Huntington Park is an awesome place. It used to be a military fort, and much of the old equipment such as cannons and tanks are still present on the grounds. Perfect for any military buffs to stretch their legs and take in the sites. If you like to go for walks or just need a great place to relax, they even have a beautiful rose garden with a pathway and benches. They also have basketball courts, tennis/pickle ball courts, and an awesome kids playground called "Fort fun". My family and I love to go to Fort Fun, the playground is huge, and it offers a selection of jungle gyms, monkey bars, and slides all in the shape of pirate ships and jungle scenery. They have swings for toddlers and swings for bigger kids, too. Next to the park is a large open field perfect for family gatherings with picnic tables and pavilions. The view of the bay is visible beyond the fences, and if you get bored there across the parking lot, there is another walking path that leads to a pier overlooking a beautiful lake. I could go and on about this place and recommend it to anyone looking for a location to have a fun, free family outing.

I love Huntington Park because when you bring children is safer than having high tides come in and pushing you out of the way. Also it has a big park across from the swimming area where kids can play it's a really big play area for kids that's perfect they have lifeguards. Other than the park rangers are the police roaming around is the perfect place to go.

Huntington Park has beautiful views of the James, and large playground with plenty of space to run, picnic or just enjoy the surrounding nature. The boat ramp is well lit, spacious and clean. Unfortunately the beach area is pretty trashy and unkempt. We avoid it at all costs 😔

Nice family outing place. Had 2 lifeguards on duty, it was a lovely weather day when we went. Plenty of parking.
