Why I love this restaurant: 1. Able to walk-in without making any reservation especially on a Sunday. (Huge space inside) 2. Waiter was very friendly, understands English and recommended us to dine inside because it was cooler. 3. Love the ambience, there are mini stage performances with people cheering on for the added dining experience (only if you choose to dine inside.) 4. The Tender fried pork knuckle and neck pieces was amazing! Crispy and delicious! The Original Wiener Schnitzel was great too but I would go for the pork knuckles again anytime. Will definitely come back again in the future. Cheers

Excellent service. Better to have a reservation (easy to make via google) but if not they will squeeze you somewhere 😊. They all speak English. German Live music that sometimes may be annoying (if you have a headache this not be the best police for you to go). But it is all about the experience, right? So if you have a headache just order the 1L beer so it goes away and you can enjoy this amazing place. The food is really good and they have vegetarian options (did not try any but was amazed with the possibilities). Try it!! It is super fun to watch Germans and not Germans to dance, to cheer, to flirt, to sing while enjoying good food and company.

Delicious journey from many years ago in Munich, where I had the pleasure of savoring the authentic and unforgettable flavors of Hofbräu Wirtshaus. The German pork knuckle they served was a masterpiece – crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It's undoubtedly one of the most delicious dishes I've ever had in Germany. Eager to relish this taste again, I decided to visit the Hofbräu Wirtshaus branch in Berlin. Stepping into the establishment, I was immediately captivated by the interior design – a perfect blend of simplicity and German charm, reminiscent of a historically rich German pub. In contrast to the rustic atmosphere of the Munich location, the Berlin branch exuded a more modern vibe while maintaining an uncompromised food quality. As I indulged in the aromatic German pork knuckle, I was once again enchanted by its intoxicating flavor. The crispy exterior and the burst of succulent juices with every bite delivered an incredible and satisfying experience. Although the Berlin branch showcased a more contemporary design compared to its Munich counterpart, it remains a worthwhile destination. Whether you prefer the traditional charm of an old German pub or the modern urban atmosphere, Hofbräu Wirtshaus successfully preserves the essence of German cuisine. If you find yourself in the captivating city of Berlin, consider experiencing the rich ambiance here and savoring the delicious taste of this German classic. It's undoubtedly a culinary journey that will satisfy both your taste buds and your soul!

It’s a very typical German restaurant aesthetically and the food is actually pretty decent! Their schnitzel and potato salad are delicious, their sauces however are not the best. The service is not the fastest either. It was still an enjoyable experience overall.

Super fun experience with live music and lots of space. The food is good and the beer: cold and perfect. It was easy to book a table online through maps and super easy to find. The tram leaves you right there. I can’t give a 5 star review because the service was not friendly and a bit pushy.

This restaurant offers the typical German food and beer. It is located in the center of Berlin and easy to get to. There are live music which is also great as well. Have to try: pork knuckle, sausage and all kinds of beer. We had a good time there. The waiter is very friendly as well.

Hood place to have a beer and some food, especially if you are in a hurry. The food portions are quite generous and tasty, but don't expect a high standard. It is more basic cooking. Probably once in a 5 might get fresh cooked potatoes. In my case, you could taste that they were cooked the day before or so. Overall, the dishes were ok.

The staff is very nice and friendly. The place is huge and they have a very good biergarden🍻 prices are in the average and the food is good! I had a great goulash soup, pretzel and sausage and sauerkraut plate. The guy in front of the toilettes is also kind and he smiles to everyone!

It’s a pity that a restaurant so well known and tailored also to reach non-German people, hires poorly trained and borderline racist waiters. The service quality has reached an all time low point, with a waiter forgetting to send through our order and make us wait 1 hour and half for food, using swear words while covering for his mistakes, and in the end deciding to create a big issue by not providing us the credit card receipt, blaming us for it, calling us names, and on top of that, referring to us as “tourists” because we were talking all night in English, and once told him that we actually live here he decided to aggressively switch to German, thinking we wouldn’t understand. Again, horrible experience that ruined our company event. The restaurant management should step up and vet better who they hire.

We were trying to look for German food in Berlin and was recommended this place by a friend. So glad we came here for dinner that we went again the next day! Had the chance to dine outside in the beer garden on the first night and it was awesome (except for smokers around if you're a non-smoker). The beer garden was closed the 2nd night we went and it got quite noisy inside. Food is great anyway!

Great place for beer! A huge capacity, affordable prices, food options as well. Service gets slower as place fills up, we waited at least 45m to get receipt. Yet, waitress was brave enough to ask for tip anyways…

Take the half portion of the pork, it is still huge and you get full. The service was really good and the food was very tasty. Indeed it is a bit loud, but it is due to traditional German music, so it is fun and it makes nice atmosphere. You can make a reservation beforehand online. I would like to go there again so 5 stars.

Echt authentisch.

Good food. Good service. Spacious space and very attractive for visitors like me. One thing they they could do better is to make sure that there's enough space better one table to another. We understand that the restaurant is packed abut I feel like the stage and the area in front of stage has more space than our seating area. There were 6 of us and there was another group coming to the table behind us and because the seats are practically benches, the other table's guests practically had their backs resting on ours. It was really uncomfortable. Their pork knuckle is the best! There was live music though the artists didn't seem to be lively, they did well in many of the cover songs.

It really feels like being Germany here. The live music is fantastic! Love the performance. Really cheerful kind. Crispy pork knuckle is massive, but absolute pleasure to have it.

This place is massive. Live music and dancing. Food is good and pretty big. I recommend one portion to share. The vibe and people are amazing. Staff is so helpful but overwhelmed. You need to wait for your order for longer tome usually. However I can only highly recommend this place. Reservation is highly recommended.

If you’re looking for a tourist experience in Germany this is a great place to go. The dining hall is very large and has space for many people. The wait staff are very friendly and accommodating (not a very German experience) and the food is good. Prices are typical for German tourist restaurants. Enjoy!

The best “German” food of 5 days, without a doubt, however when compared to other cuisine, it still doesn’t match up. The staff and the atmosphere have bumped it up to a 5* for me. The music and the camaraderie was really cool, and the beer was nice too. My meal had a range of sausages, but the sauerkraut was the staple with bacon included within. The desert was nice too with “egg cream”.

Huge beer hall with great atmosphere. Enormous portions of food and reasonable value. Very tasty indeed with perfectly crisp Schweinshaxe, and washed down with cool German beer - what more could you want? Will definitely return.

The interior and exterior of the restaurant is very nice. I loved the typical German design. The food was excellent and I wish I could have tried the "Knuckle". It looked so good. My Schnitzel was crispy and tender the German potato salad was also very good. My daughter took the vegetarian Spätzle with cheese and it was delicious. She also ordered the Curry Wurst and boy was that sausage huge! That too was excellent. The dessert was ok. I guess since it was written pancakes I wasn't expecting "nuggets" or "donut holes". It wasn't bad...just not what I thought. The only deception was our waitress, compared to the other wait staff, she was nice but slow. The other wait staff were very good, excellent service while ours forgot about us. Hofbräu Berlin is really a must do and make sure you're really hungry! They are not stingy so be prepared.

Want real oktoberfest all year around with big steins? This is the place. Great service mind by happy smiling staff, you'll never the bottom of the glass. The food delicious despite cooking for hundreds of guests every day. Entertainment, laughter and good vibes. On my favourites list.

This must be the largest restaurant I've ever seen in my life. Lawd knows how many hundreds were inside. The building looks nice from outside. It's a restaurant that serves German cuisine, and it was my first time trying that. The waiter that attended to us was really nice. The food was average for me, though. They had this chewy potato dumpling which I've never had before. It was ok, but I'd rather have creamy mash. The beef stroganoff was kinda salty and a bit bitter as well. Not sure why. The half duck ordered looked like quarter. The interior decor was very German which is expected but the seats/table are wooden and like park benches. Didn't like that much. You also share the park bench with other diners. There was a band there playing German music. The atmosphere was great though.

Always a great time at the Hofbräuhaus whether Berlin or Munich. The band was great! People dancing and clapping. The food was ok. The only we had was that our dirty dishes were not collect and sat for 45 minutes while we were drinking our beer.

Despite a bit of crowding, the front desk staff managed to find us a suitable spot. The beer was splendid, and the food, although delicious, presented a challenge. The well-mannered waitress was unclear about the portion size, and what arrived was too much for two people, though undeniably tasty.

So much fun here! I could feel german vibe from their music, food and people. We got 0.5L beer , red wine, backed potatoes and schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Foods are hot and delicious! They are quite big portions but it was so good. Schnitzel was a little salty and crispy but when you squeeze the lemon and deep with mushroom sauce it’s so good! It’s served with lemony potatoes. Mushroom sauce like mushroom soup taste although it’s sauce texture. My brother got backed potatoes. He said it’s pure potatoes but with their butter it makes tasty. It comes with salad. Server was very energetic and fun!

The beer is delicious and the food is decent. Menu offered in English for those who need it. We went on a Sunday night and were able to sit with no reservation. The later in the evening, the more we noticed people signing to the live band.

Had a really good time at the Hofbräu! The waiters were super friendly and the food was great. What really made our visit though was the delicious beer. I recommend if you’re looking for some typical Bavarian food!!

A taste of Germany, and what a delicious taste! Food is delicious, if you're sitting inside, be prepared for the whole German experience such as the live music. Staff were great, helpful, fast, and knowledgeable. Food was delicious and surprisingly reasonable. It usually looks incredibly busy outside, but if you're willing to sit inside you can usually get a table.

The food here is quite good and so is the beer. I had half of a Schweinehaxe and the portion was VERY big! It’s a typical German restaurant with live music. The music tends to get a bit loud at times, which makes it somewhat difficult to communicate. The waiter was nice and the food came out rather quickly, despite the large number of diners.

This is an amazingly atmospheric place with a choice of traditional German dishes and great beer. Of course, the original Hofbräuhaus in Munich is out of competition, but this one in Berlin is good as well. There is a huge nicely decorated hall, beer garden, and Bavarian atmosphere of beer fest. There are three regular sorts of beer: light, dark, wheat beer. So, go to Hofbräu if you are in Berlin, grab the pork knuckle, Maß of beer, and enjoy.

So good I went there twice during my holidays :) Food comes out fast, abundant and delicious, servers are very nice and efficient. I don’t normally have a sweet tooth but the Kaiserschmarrn is a MUST try.

A very spacious restaurant with delicious food and great beer. The service was impeccable, the waiter (Abil/Amil not sure how to spell it) was super friendly and also gave some good tips about the menu. The decoration is lovely, and they have live music. It’s a German experience you cannot miss.

Wow what can I say, the hype is worth it. There’s a reason there’s so many reviews here! It’s truly something else. We def don’t have anything like this in Canada that’s for sure. Great beer by the litre, food, live music. GGs.

  • 5/5 Marina G. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent experience, because that was what it was: an experience. Yes, it is very touristy: it definitely has the same vibe as going on a ride at Disneyland- from the over the top German beer hall decor to the traditional dresses on the waitresses to the musicians toasting every 10 minutes. If you are looking for a calm and relaxed dinner, go elsewhere. But if you are with a group or just looking to have a bit of self-indulgent fun, this is the place for you. Beers are great and properly German sized. The crispy pork knuckle is amazing, the skin is perfectly crispy, and it can absolutely be enough for 3 people for dinner. You can definitely find a less expensive restaurant for German food, but overall the prices were reasonable for the amount of food served. Highly suggest checking this place out if you visit Berlin.

  • 5/5 Velia K. 9 months ago on Google
For someone who wants a big beer hall experience in Berlin, this is your place. The food was great. There was live music when we visited and tons of seating indoors and outdoors. Great location near popular, must-see spots.

  • 4/5 Jeremy Z. 10 months ago on Google
Pretty good for a 'tourist' type restaurant. Hofbrau has all the usual German pickings you'd expect and want in a hofbrau. Ordered the obvious, in the pork schnitzel. While it was a little dry it wasn't greasy, which is a win. The potatoes were good and the pretzel was uniquely German. It really did have a special flavor to it not found elsewhere. While I didn't give five stars, it just wasn't over the top great. It's still a good pick.

I always wanted to experience this German pub and finally got there. It was a Saturday and we went during mid day,not busy at all and our food served without any delay Staff was very friendly, specially the guy at the washroom address everyone with a smile, bless him Highly recommend for visitor I was told that it’s busy at nights, can’t comment on it as it was mid day for me Affordable prices

Totally touristy, but such great fun. Beers and Bavarian food. Live music makes it hugely entertaining, although they play happy birthday about 45 times a night!!
