A hostel with a very unusual and quite stylish middle-age themed lobby. Not very far from the central Berlin (10 minutes walking from Alexanderplatz), Singer109 is located in the middle of the communist-styled housing blocks, but really makes the effort to create a different feeling once you get inside - and it works! The ground-floor lobby has some seating areas and also a large reception with more areas to sit, relax, have some drinks or eat your breakfast. You can get to the bunk bed area in upper floors by taking the really cool full-glass elevator. Each floor is divided into key card accessible wings and each wing has separate toilets and showers and about 2+ rooms with several bunk beds in them. The room I stayed in had 3 very unstable bunk beds (= 6 beds each with power outlet and small shelf), 1 desk with 2 chairs and lockers (keys upon request on the reception, bond must be paid). Towels are not included in the base price. All spaces are reasonably clean, including the bathrooms. The service was nice and friendly, check-in quite quick, but it's truly annoying to have to pay 2€ bond for the access key card (why, if you already have my credit card details?). The reservation process online is also a confusing disaster: After paying for the night through Booking, they sent me a private message that I have to pay for the accommodation immediately or I may not be able to stay - Seriously? Probably just some template message they send to everybody, but how should a normal customer know or be sure? Fix it, please. Despite that, it's one of the more memorable hostels I've been staying in over the past years and I'd not hesitate to stay again.

Unfriendly staff. I went for the good reviews and had an enjoyable stay here except for one of the staff, who verbally harrassed me and wouldn't stop bothering me. It's a pity because I really enjoyed the location and the large kitchen, and the lady who checked me in was very friendly. One of the staff working there in the afternoons and evenings would stare at me and make condescending remarks when I passed by. He called me "young lady" and repeatedly asked me what room I was staying in. He smoked heavily with a group of men inside the building near the entrance, and when I entered he would make snide remarks about me and joke that I didn't understand German. He often did not wear a mask either. I ignored him because I was travelling alone and was afraid of what could happen. When I asked the other man working there, Sven, for the crude man's name and to speak to the manager, he refused and replied: "Why don't you just leave, other people will come stay here". If they would have let me talk to the manager, then I wouldn't have had to write this review.

Nice old block building, with the courtyard covered now as the central part of the building. Rooms are around the courtyard, which means that you do not have access to outside fresh air. Also it echoes when people talk down there. When the hostel is full it means you won't have a quiet time here. Overall walls are thin. My apartment room was nicely furnished, clean and with a good bed. High ceiling, small kitchen. Nice and well-done. Trouble was a bad smell in de bathroom, kind of cigarette smoke with desinfection fluid. In summer I suspect that it can get really warm inside because of the glass covered courtyard. There is no way of getting fresh and cool air into your room. There is ventilator, but non airco. Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast is simple but good and proce worthy. 6 eur is good value for money. Metro stops at five minutes walking. Calisthenics park next door.

I'm sure it's a very nice hostel, unfortunately, they don't give any refund (even partial) to a fully paid booking, which had to be cancelled 5 days out in peak season. Pretty poor cancellation policy.

Loved my stay here although I was lucky sharing my room with 2 nice people. Very clean, nice staff, good unlimited breakfast for €6. Lovely building converted from former sewing machine factory

On the photos looks a cool place but the vibe is really bad. From the staff at the reception to the guests, many times the place looks like it's made for criminals. Even if you need the police they will send you, apparently, "their own police", well equiped and wearing "david stars" on their apparently official uniforms. The man at the recpetion told me the manager is called Peter, but I don't think there is much to be managed if the place is full of the same group of people. This is not a place for free men and women.

Nice rooms, large and clean, but our windows were facing towards the closed yard -> no fresh air. Way to hot in summer and also loud, and smells of cooking and smoke at night 😕 bulbs in the ceiling don't turn off completely. There are more rooms towards the real outsides, which I guess are better in these regards. Good WiFi 🙂

It was a great stay at Singer109 Hostel. Clean, Convinient, comfortable and calm place. Friendly and helpful staff. Sure I will prefer to stay again at this place.

Really nice place with friendly and helpful staff, good prices, common area kitchen, great breakfast. Only thing we could find at all to improve would be a bit brighter lights (we had a room with double bed).

I booked a private double room at this hostel very last minute as I found myself without accommodation and didn't have high expectations for this price – and I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. At this time of the year, there were few guests and it was very quiet. The building itself is stylish and the glass elevator in the inner courtyard makes you feel like royalty going up to your room. The location within walking distance to two of my favorite clubs was perfect. It's also close to Alex and easy to get around from there. The only negative point was that there was a bit of an intrusive employee trying to convince me for a shot when I arrived home on sunday morning... Overall, the staff is friendly though. The room is spacious, the lighting not the best and the mattress/sheets rather of the inexpensive type, but ok. Would definitely recommend or come back for price for value. It is noteworthy that it is NOT close to any restaurants or bars, so one has to always take a walk

Great experience overall, the place really nice and most importantly it was very clean, the people were polite, the hostel is really near the center. The staff were really helpful at all the time and professional. We were a bit on a rush so we didn't really appreciate the other services that the hostel had like the bar but maybe next time. Amazing place to go if you have a big group of friends (by big a mean 6)😅

En-suite was very nice room and all facilities that you need. A little loud corridors/floorboards in the early hours but that is normal. Great for the price.

Many residents do not respect quiet hours and there is little to no privacy (no screens over bunks), and can get quite stinky. Also effectively 1 shower for 12 bunks when you book one of the 6 bunk rooms. However, only deposit for ample locker space, hearty simple 5 euro breakfast, considerate staff, pretty clean, beautiful lobby, adequate kitchen, 10 euro a basket laundry, and great location

The place is nice and clean. Much depends on people that you have in your room. In general i recommend this affordable hostel.

The room was dirty, windows cannot be opened, poor mattresses and a mediocre location. Due to the bad air circulation in the room I suffered from my asthma and had to move to another place. Singer109 has been unresponsive on my ask to refund me for the additional nights paid I did not stay at their hostel.

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It’s not a bad hostel, but it’s not what I was looking for. It’s in a residential neighborhood with no places for food or drink nearby. The hostel only offers breakfast and very light snacks plus drinks. You’d have to go for a walk or take the train to get anywhere good. Definitely no “hostel” vibe here, it’s pretty dead. Facilities are mostly good, bathrooms are nice, beds are comfy but bunks are shaky. Wifi is pretty slow in the common area and doesn’t reach the rooms. I had to switch to my phone data to take a zoom call. Probably most unsettling thing is I booked a triple room but was placed in a quad (don’t know if 3 bed rooms exist?). The first night was fine because only 3 of us but the next day a 4th person was added even after the front desk person told me the room would be blocked for 3 people only. So I went down to complain and was offered a refund of 15 € (I don’t believe that’s the accurate price difference between 3 and 4 beds) or move rooms. I elected to move rooms because that’s what I paid for but I was pretty annoyed. One other thing to note is they’re not allowed to keep the windows open because of the neighborhood. So the rooms can’t get stuffy. I don’t understand this. Overall, this place is quiet and out of the way from most things a tourist would want access to and not good for digital nomads. If that’s fine with you go for it but I will not be returning.

Entrance to hostel was more like a 5 star hotel thing, rooms were nice and had everything neccesary. Pillows were also comfy!

Our experience in this hostel was great. The bedrooms were very clean and organize, the bathroom is big for a hostel, and on the side of the beds there is a little wooden box to place things like wallet, etc. The breakfast costs €5, unlimited servings. The metro is at walking distance, faster if you take s electric scooter. The only issue was the internet connection, sometimes it was very slow or there was no connection. Overall I think it was a great hostel with a fair price! I would definitely come back.

Great hostel with its fresh breakfast, comfortable beds, helpful reception and affordable price. Would be greatful to come again. Location can be problem but there is a bus stop in 2 minutes and with 300 bus you can go to city center in 20 minutes (2.8€). So am sharing some photos of bedroom.

Me and my girlfriend made a reservation for 3 nights with this hostel and 2 hours before we are planning on arriving they tell us they have cancled out booking and that they dont have any space left. We would not recommend this hostel and there staff

Because of noise complaints it is not able to open the windows, the room itself is very clean tho and the bath is in a top condition

I've been twice to this hostel and will probably go back again. Although it is quite big, they keep it very clean and nice. The beds in the dorms are very confortevole.. I would suggest it for both long and short stays. You can find drinks and food at the bar downstairs. The staff is always very welcoming and yes, you can store your luggage for free. Oh, and it is beautiful.

Quiet and clean room; around 10 mins walking to train stations, there are supermarkets and restaurants along the way, which is very convenient for me to buy stuff.

We really enjoyed our stay at Singer hostel! The rooms are pretty, quiet, and clean! The kitchen and bathroom were also perfect! A big bonus: we could check in in the middle of the night without a problem & the (included!) breakfast was really nice!! Only note: the area is very quiet in the evening during the week & it can be fairly expensive if you book spontaneously!

Very clean and easy in and out hostel. The staff was helpful in our late arrival and early departure. The room are quite spacious and affordable. Also the vibe is good with the open kitchen, bar, and work rooms. Plus point it’s ideally located to go to KitKat club.

Nice hostel with great atmosphere. Nice central hall. Extra options like breakfast or late check out are only 5,-. The breakfast was okay, but some more vegan options is recommended

They sent me an email asking to pre pay my booking over a link. The website the link to me too looked very dodgy so I decided not to put my card details. Following this, they canceled my booking :(

Best hostel in Berlin!! Lovely staff at the reception, made me an awesome espresso, impressive building, super clean, loved the late checkout (saved my life) and the towel rent (since I had no space in my backpack ) Warm wishes from Bulgaria! Will come back !

The hostel is good and the price is fair for what you get and the location. The only downside we experienced was a staff member who was rude and unhelpful when we had a problem with our bed, blaming us for the problem and telling us he wouldn’t fix it until the next day - we had to threaten him with not paying the room for him to come see and fix the issue.

Günstige Preise, sauberes Zimmer mit guter Ausstattung und eigenem Bad. Dazu ein wirklich sehr freundlicher und unkomplizierter Service. Was will man mehr? Ich komme gerne wieder.
