I expected a little bit more effort. Even room has no liquid soup or any towels. You must rent towel there. It must be experimental what they are doning there :) When you go there take your soup and towels. It is a little bit camping in luxurios building. Breakfast was good that s why I gave 2 star. With a little effort that can be better.

Excellent!!! We recommend. We were there with our three daughters and had a nice room with our own bathroom. We had booked half board. The food was great. We will definitely be back.

The most beautiful youth hostel I know: Beautifully renovated former school with high ceilings in the rooms. Food above the usual youth hostel standard. Very convenient location and a good starting point for city stays. Beautiful seminar rooms and fair prices. All in all: clear recommendation.

I went there with some friends for a vaction in germany from greece and we stayed there for a week. The rooms were very clean and the room was pretty modern in the inside. It offers breakfast and dinner at a buffet that has a lot of delicious options. We were also happy that there was a lot of public transportation near us because it was not so complicated as other times. If you are looking to go to berlin i would recommend this one .

The very modern DJH youth hostel Berlin Ostkreuz is centrally located at Ostkreuz in Berlin. The family-friendly youth hostel Berlin Ostkreuz is modern and contemporary and welcomes visitors to Berlin, families, school classes and groups. It has more than 445 beds. All the rooms have a shower/toilet. Friendly staff and hostel facilities are really good and the cosy bistro, dining rooms, meeting rooms, conferences rooms and lounge are very comfortable for the guests.

Great place for families to stay on a budget. Need four beds? Have kids that don’t eat just about anything? Need to travel on a budget, but still don’t want to compromise on cleanliness, safe neighborhood or a good breakfast. This might be your place to stay. Remember you need to be a member with DJH to stay, but that affordable!

A very nice place for a staying in Berlin. It is situated in a good area, close to some U-bahn and S-bahn (both form the underground of Berlin) stations. If you didn't pay for meals at the hotel (which are very good and diversified), you will definitely find a convenient place to eat near the hotel at an excellent price too. The rooms are big with a big bathroom too (some rooms have two).

The staff where not so friendly they accused us of making the ceiling walls dirty when we couldn’t even get to them they screamed of us for that.

Very clean. Cleaner and better maintained than most hotels I have stayed at. The breakfast was also very nice, but there was some inconsistency: Monday morning breakfast was 2x better with more choice than Tuesday breakfast.

Excellent youth hostel! Food top. Always a meatless version. Family room was great. We'd love to come back there.

Large rooms, with 2,3 or 4 beds (bunk-beds), modern baths, extra'large windows (natural light),clean overall, ok meals, nice lounge-bar on the ground floor. Exactly near the train station location (if you close the window, you can hardly hear the trains crossing by.

As a family with small children, we were very satisfied with the youth hostel. The location is outstanding for us (Friedrichshein is a top district for eating out and strolling) and right on the S-Bahn. The room was large and we had everything we needed. Additionally, we appreciated the play area during breakfast. And that was really good too!

A youth hostel? This is much more! The building is impressive from the outside, and it gets even better inside! Super nicely decorated with lots of small details, the rooms are very clean and well furnished. The staff, from the cleaner to the reception, were extremely friendly. In addition, the immediate proximity to the train station makes this youth hostel an absolute top starting point for a trip to Berlin, whether for a weekend or several days. We will be back definitely.

Good location right on Ostkreuz. This also means a lot of noise from the S-Bahn. Simple rooms, very new and modernly furnished. Good breakfast with nothing missing. A quiet lounge where you can enjoy a beer or cocktail even late.

Located directly at Ostkreuz train station, the youth hostel is an ideal starting point for activities in the city. The JH is barrier-free accessible. I also find it positive that both the external door and the stair lift can be used independently with the Euro key

Greeted with that classic Berlin coldness at the door, I’ve taken it’s a joint lobotomy everyone in the city must have, it removes any form of empathy for strangers, the notion to say please, thank you and sorry too, in order to be as cold as they so famously are. Even after asking if the woman at reception spoke English as that is the one of the only 2 languages I speak that is commonly spoken in Germany, she still gave me a completely German leaflet, I was absolutely lost. The only thing I could somewhat understand was the WiFi password, however when I put it in there was a message that came up saying I was not an invited WiFi user or some such nonsense. Furthermore, I’m 17 and when she asked for my parents permission for me to stay here (which was at no point mentioned on their website) she took the thing and kept it, now a random German woman has my and my parents signature plus a printed picture of my mum’s passport, dare I say quite like Herta Bothe. I do apologise to any Berliners who are offended by my admittedly harsh and brash generalisations, but if you need someone to complain to complain to the woman who checked me in. I thought maybe a youth hostel would be an exception to this stereotype, but I was clearly wrong. Mind you the architecture of the building itself doesn’t help, looking like some kind of cross between an insane asylum and old schoolhouse that was closed for accusations of abuse. The rooms are somewhat alright, beds surprisingly comfortable, someone next to me was playing loud music on and off for about an hour on the afternoon that I arrived, so the soundproofing isn’t great.

SO COZY AND WARM ! I loved the place, they treat you super good, they’re calm and fast. The rooms are clean, big, new, and the illumination is so comfy. The food is also delicious !! And the park that they have is so pretty! Loved the experience and YES I will come back!

I went here over the summer and LOVED it. The outside of the hostel looked exquisite and the rooms and the interior were gorgeous to look at. My friends and I would eat outside, play card games, and talk out on the patio until dusk. The rooms looked EXACTLY like the pictures you would see on google and overall the staff was friendly. Only problem was it was next to a train track and the train was quite loud.

Great value, rooms were very clean, good location not far from the attractions, provided vegan food. Can't go wrong!

The youth hostel was built in 1907, which you can see in the corridors in a positive way - it has the feel of an old school building, and there is also a history board on the ground floor. It's easy to get involved with all the details in the building. Our 4-bed room was modern but a bit cool. There are cupboards and two chairs. It was chic, but not comfortable. Also a bit small for 4 people. I like that all rooms have bathrooms and ours was quite large. There was enough space for your own things. It's a youth hostel, but at least hand soap would have been nice. The breakfast room was a bit confusing because there are several areas, but that was ok. There were three types of sausage, three types of cheese (one of which went to the vegan alternatives on day 2...), a selection of muesli, four types of jam, a selection of bread. A toaster and a pancake machine as well as maple syrup. Ok for a youth hostel, but more of a minimum. Unfortunately, the honey and nut nougat cream were in dark dispensers, so I had a hard time finding them. The kitchen staff wasn't helpful due to their lack of language skills, but I also expect that in a youth hostel I really liked the lounge area. It is bright and very modern, there are quiet corners where you can chat. Snacks are available. The selection of a wine is small, but ok. In addition to alcoholic ones, there are also some non-alcoholic cocktails. I thought they were delicious and at around 5 euros they were also ok in terms of price. A highlight were the glasses - very suitable for photos :) There is also fitness equipment in the courtyard. And the staff was very nice, there is even a staircase at the counter for little guests. The location is one of the biggest negative points - but the hostel can do little about it. Although it is clearly visible from the Ostkreuz, you cannot go through it directly but have to take a detour. And unfortunately you can easily get lost at Ostkreuz. The description on the website is ok, but it would be nice if such an important point were already signposted at the train station. Unfortunately, the location next to the train station and a main street means that it is extremely loud. Even with the window closed, the noise can be heard and felt. This doesn't work without earplugs. Conclusion If you don't value comfort and peace but want to stay with your travel group in a historically interesting building and explore Berlin from there, or if you want to drink a beer and chat in the evening, this hostel is the right place for you.

What a great youth hostel. We were there as a family of four over New Year's Eve. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, whether in the kitchen, at the reception or the bar. Everyone was very friendly and nice. The New Year's Eve buffet was very good, starting with the table decorations... We'd love to come back. Thank you very much for the wonderful days with you

I come to the youth hostel regularly with my son. We feel comfortable here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very tasty and varied and beds are good. The house has a great atmosphere and the playground invites you to run around.

My Lütten and I had a really nice weekend in this youth hostel. Everyone is super friendly. Whether at the reception or in the kitchen. The breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings are great. There are even homemade vegan spreads in the morning that taste really good. Of course, the pancake machine was a real highlight for the children at the weekend. The building itself is simply beautiful inside and out. So do the rooms ❤️ As a family it was also well affordable - especially full board was totally worth it for us. When we went on excursions during the day, we were given packed lunches or were able to put them together ourselves. The Ostkreuz train station couldn't be closer, so you have a great connection to get everywhere. Thank you for the great time and lots of love to everyone who keeps this beautiful youth hostel running ❤️ It was our first time but certainly not the last time 😃

A very nice youth hostel. Family friendly and the rooms are well equipped. The price performance ratio is very good. We had a lovely time in Berlin. The staff were very friendly and gave information and tips for Berlin. The Ostkreuz train station is within walking distance, from which you can get directly to Berlin. In the evening you can get drinks and snacks from the bar in the youth hostel. Board games can also be borrowed. For children there is also a play area and a playground outside. All in all a very nice holiday, we would love to come back.

The security of this place can be replaced with a blind man, cuz there are no cameras In the hallway or anywhere near the rooms. Absolutely ridiculous I’m staying here for a week but I think I might check out tomorrow. I don’t feel safe no more

Good for kids but elders can stay too. One room has a bathroom, a washroom and 4 beds. Breakfast is usually served and is of very good quality too.

Rooms are really nice, have modern design and are really clean. Place is close to S bahn so you can go to the city centre from here in around 20 minutes. And that are positive things about the place. Food is not that good when taking into consideration that we were forigners group, coming from different countries. Manager of the hostel is too bossy and minding everyone else's business except his own. Staff in the restaurant is unplesant and often yell on you in German. Also staff is free to push you if you are in their way while bringing food to buffet tables. Good place only to sleep, avoid all other services.

Very nice hostel situated next to Ostkruez bahnhof. Rooms are spacious, Opens 24 hours. Only drawback is their breakfast and dinner, totally horrible. But yes, you can eat outside all eateries are nearby. one room cost around 40 € a night ( all alone) and it's much better than a Hotel. You can visit all the famous places through Ostkreuz and the hostel is located on the perfect side.

I would give it 7 stars, considering it's a hostel. Friendly staff, clean and bright rooms, nice terrace and dining area, diverse breakfast and salad bar for lunch and dinner. I'll definitely come again!

We stayed with a large group here and were all very satisifed. The rooms are spacious and clean. The meals were quite delicious, especially the desserts and the hot chocolate :) We usually didn't have to wait for long. The staff was very friendly. The Catering was ok but nothing special. The only small complaint I have is that all rooms are not isolated very well from the cold and noises. But then again the location next to the subway and tram station is quite convenient.

I had a very nice and comfortable stay in this hostel. Breakfast was tasty and extensive. My room was very clean on arrival and during my stay. Friendly and helpful staff. All covid19-security measures have been properly monitored and approved here. The location is ideal for exploring the city. I did that by bicycle and can recommend it to everyone. If you are a light sleeper it is best to bring earplugs as the train and trams at Bahnhof Ostkreuz are audible in the room.

This is definitely one of the best hostel I've ever been to. Former school has become a paradise for travelers. Wide corridors and high ceilings create a sense of freedom as well as large windows and plenty of space in rooms and bathrooms. The food in the canteen is great; For all three meals you have a good choice of different foods. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Got surprised when on checkout they charged me money for parking. No one told me I will have to pay for it, but of course they denied their fault. Staff is not quite professional that can lead to such situations. Otherwise ordinary simple hotel packed with mostly elder people. Quite noisy outside as well.

Hello, So I can't complain about the rooms and the food. However, the room service is really great. They burbled into our toilet. That sucked, dude. And noise lasts the night. That was annoying. But the potatoes were awesome. Kind regards🤘

A really beautiful historical accommodation that has been perfectly renovated. Located directly at Ostkreuz train station. The staff is super friendly, and the kitchen almost managed to turn me into a vegan 😍 but the rest was also very tasty. I would be happy to come back 👍

A top youth hostel with great connections to the city center! Rooms were great, breakfast was very good and the employees were always very friendly and accommodating. It's just a shame that there is no lounge area outside the rooms (except during meals). As soon as you sit down at the tables in the courtyard, each person is asked to order something from the cafe. Even if there is no shortage of space in the cafe. Still 4 stars, will come back.

Optimally located, this DJH gave us one of the best hostel experiences in Europe. Clean and tidy, large and spacious, affordable with excellent breakfast and other meal options - what's there to not like?! The cafe also serves some great coffee! Great for family and kids, stayed there twice and loved it every time! :)
