Under
normal
circumstances
the
island
is
inaccessible
(there
is
no
bridge),
however
due
to
recent
low
levels
of
the
water
in
the
Rhine
river
(on
15th
of
August
2022
when
pictures
were
taken
the
water
level
was
at
52
cm)
I
was
able
to
reach
this
picturesque
place
dry-shod.
Right
behind
the
Hindenburganlage
park
-
towards
the
little
bridge
over
the
rail
track
-
there
is
a
trail
leading
to
the
river
where
a
small
stone
wall
connecting
the
island
and
the
mainland
is
located,
normally
submerged
under
water.
Unfortunately
the
Mouse
tower,
a
former
watch
tower,
it's
also
not
open
to
the
public,
therefore
I
was
unable
to
visit
its
observation
deck.
Regardless
of
that,
the
views
from
the
base
of
the
tower
were
impressive
as
well
-
the
vineyards
covering
the
hills
and
the
Ehrenfels
ruin
provides
a
stunning
sneak
peak
of
the
beginning
of
Rhine
Valley.
On
the
north
part
of
the
island
a
small
beach
is
located,
where
children
can
play
and
dogs
can
run.
I
was
bold
enough
to
swim
in
the
river
in
that
area
(no
current
but
a
secluded
bay).
