Camera Obscura Mülheim an der Ruhr

Tourist attraction Museum Cultural landmark

👍👍 It's a small but impressive museum. I love photography and it was very interesting to see how images moved over time. The view from the tower is a highlight with a great view of the Ruhr area. You should visit it if you are nearby. The surrounding park invites you to take a walk and relax. People often mention museum, nice, small,

We were in the small but nice museum today... The staff were super nice and accommodating and I was also impressed by the exhibition, it was super nice and the small presentation was well done, well explained, I felt super comfortable and it was very empty. .. I reminisced about flip books I used to do too... The view from there is great too. Can only recommend it, thank you for a nice trip...

A great collection! Thanks to the many activity stations, it didn't get boring for my granddaughter either. The demonstration of the camera obscura was particularly positive. Those present were well attended to, and my granddaughter (6) was also included in an age-appropriate manner so that everyone was able to take something for themselves. Overall, a nice little museum with family-friendly prices for a bit of education in between.

From the outside it looks small. There is a lot to discover and try out inside. The descriptions are understandable and quite short. The demonstration and explanation was very good. Anyone who has visited them knows why they shouldn't secretly hide in the bushes during the day in Mülheim, for whatever reason.

Entertaining but really nicely done. There was also a children's birthday party today, and from the looks of it, the kids had a lot of fun. You can try out a lot and learn a lot about the film

Super interested and instructive. Unfortunately the weather wasn't ideal.

Small museum on early films, photography and precursors. Interesting exhibits can be seen. Many things can be tried. Some of them are a little run down. The museum has a small coffee shop and decent sanitary facilities in the basement. There are also some interesting pieces to be found in the basement. Parking spaces are available, the museum is located directly on the cycle highway and not far from the Ruhrtal cycle path. Unfortunately, the presentation of the actual camera obscura is canceled due to bad weather. There are no lockers.

The tour was more of a short demonstration by a bad-tempered or unfriendly leader. You can do it, but it's not really exciting. The building and the park are quite nice.

The museum is small but nice. We're more of the fast kind and were there without children. It took us about 45 minutes to look at all the exhibits, but there is also a lot where you can become active yourself, crank, press or look through. An absolute must (!) is the hourly tour on the top floor. Highly recommended and exciting!

A small museum in which some exhibits on the subject of film and its predecessors have been lovingly brought together. The 360° image of the surroundings on the projection table in the dome of the tower gives it its name. The light falls through the “pinhole camera” built into the roof.

What an experience it was... We arrived 5 minutes before the show took place on the last upper floor, in the camera Obscura, where we could the see the projection of the outside surroundings. Extremely interesting. I recommend going in a sunny day, so the quality is better.

Very interesting museum, you can touch and try out a lot. The only negative thing was the bad-tempered, sulky gentleman who took the lead at the top. The tone was very unfriendly, especially towards children. Interested questions from children were answered ironically. All visitors were allowed to look through ONE pair of glasses that were passed around. Of course that took a while, “maybe it could be a little quicker,” was the “nice” request. And these are just 2 examples.

A beautiful museum. The top floor has a device mounted in the building which reflects the surrounding on to a white board. The clarity provided by this reflection is way beyond any UHD TV...its natural sunlight
