This was my third visit to this elegant, old style cinema to see some top rate rock. This time I had returned to experience the legendary Steve Hackett (former Genesis guitarist) and his band as they played fantastic music, some going back over 50 years. The smallish stage is not conducive to large spectacular light shows but the acoustics are ideal for genuine music lovers. The seats are cinema style so comfortable with a decent amount of leg room. The bar serves decent drinks as well. I had parked nearby (3 minutes walk) in one of the many multi story car parks here in the centre of Essen. All in all another great evening of nostalgic entertainment in a lovely venue.

Amazing cinema theatre ! The vintage style makes you think you are in old times. The staff is friendly and the 70mm analoger option was extraordinary. The only thing I would notice is that the sound was not that high quality as of what I would expect in a cinema of this quality In any case I highly recommend it

Great location, nice staff and an amazing theater. Love that they show original version. The only downside is that there's no AC in the theater, so it got rather hot and stuff an hour in. Good thing I picked up a flyer to use as a fan.

Great cinema in the classical style. Not one of the big blockbuster cinemas, but that's the good side, right. Saw 70mm Hateful eight there and it was a joy. Staff friendly, large toilets, nice snack selection and Fritz Cola! Full recommendation.

Classy and charming original theater! Not sure why people keep rushing over to Cinemaxx when they've got this beauty only a few blocks away. Tickets are reasonably priced, concessions much cheaper (and better!) than at Cinemaxx. A lot of movies are shown in the original version with subtitles. Make sure to get a seat up on the balcony!

It's a huge Theatre. Watched Oppenheimer here. Couldn't ask for more. Overall a good experience. Why 3 stars? Because, one of the major aspects of a Theatre is the quality of sound. The audio wasn't loud enough. It might be different for other shows/movies. But, for Oppenheimer, it clearly didn't meet the expectations!

Wonderful cinema from the 20s. The architecture is awesome😍. Love it! There are also concerts or comedy shows. If you visit Essen and like movies and/or historical buildings this is a must see. 🎥👍

it’s definitely special to watch a movie in this cinema, only the audio could be improved at times, but maybe that’s the trade off when watching in the largest cinema Germany’s.

Incredible theatre - huge and glamorous. We saw Star Wars in English on Christmas Day and the place was almost empty but given it seats over 1200 even if half full it will still look empty! My favourite movie theatre.

This cinema has a very special old style feel to it. Its layout is more for a Broadway theater than cinema. Our 3D Star Wars movie was delayed for a short period due to a technical issue but was resolved quickly. Apart from this short glitch a very good cinema, definitely worth visiting.
