This had a good selection of shops still available even after the demise of Debenhams and the build a bear shops. There's a good sized H&M and a TKMaxx along with HMV. There's usually a good assortment of food concession stalls too bringing an international vibe to the area. This is a good place to use as a focal easy to find meeting place within town. There are several car parks within short range as well as a very comprehensive bus services.

It's a bit tight in there, not much room to turn or dodge people. But good shop great for presents and designer bargains.

Half shops are currently empty sadly, remember it used to be packed and had a working fountain. Shame it's becoming just a cut through. Some independent stalls in front of empty shops and a good deep clean/wash would be really beneficial. But I'm not the expert, just my opinion.

Don’t like it, like going to a jumble sale.

Nice collection in girls and women. But little less for men in comparison to women (that’s what my husband says always) 😊

H&M the suit I bought is not of quality. The pants keep falling down. The jacket sleeves are not fitted, I needed the suit for an interview. The pants were a size 14 my size, and they only had a size 10 or 12 jacket, so I can't do the buttons up. The woolen L tights I bought were too small after washing them. Clarks Shoe shop-I purchased a pair of boots £120:00 which gave me blisters, so I returned the other pair of shoes, they were of hard leather and too heavy for my knees. But, the plus side is there is an Organic Plant Juice stand in the square. Jenni makes the best Spirulina from New Zealand, cucumber, orange, fresh turmeric, lime, beetroot, carrot juice. Jenni is there Wednesday to Friday. I feel great after the nourishing juices, definitely worth a try. Also on Facebook 😁💯

Always feels like the true center of town, live music and a long standing, delicious crepe stand.

Colchester town isn't a great shopping center unless you want your nails done, need a haircut, or somewhere to eat. Plenty of these.

Not what it once was, looking a little dated now, essentially all the best retail outlets have gone since it first opened in the late 80s early 90s. The absence of Debenham has left a large hole in any shopping experience. There are still a selection of shops mainly clothing and shoes, nice place to sit and have lunch when the weather allows.

This isn't a shopping centre it's just a small square with a few shops, a wasted journey.

The tories have destroyed this place. Used to be full of shops and independent businesses but now its just the same old multimillion dollar chains

It's a shame that google's algorithm doesn't know that I've only been inside the shop for like 5 seconds. No offense! I'd go here if they provide free wifi... It's not that the dresses are bad it's just I'm too broke to buy one...

Nice looking, inviting, clean space. Lots of seating so one can just sit and relax inbetween doing your shopping. Good variety of shops in the surroundings. Great spot for catching the sun when the sun's out! 🌞

Nice place to sit down and enjoy music. They always play the loveliest songs to jam about on a sunny day. Occasionally live music!

Good pedestrianised shopping area. If only Debenhams were still open, or the building used as an indoor market of some kind.

I had a lovely afternoon in Culver Square, I found the old fashioned sweet shop but more importantly Bill and Bert's. If you haven't been there they are certainly worth checking out.

Lovely to walk through. Not quite so many shops now but still enjoy having a wander. Always something to look at and when the weather is good plenty of places to enjoy a coffee etc.

A good selection of food vans, with crepes, sausages and coffee. A wide range of shops where you can get what you need to and a fountain that has Christmas decorations on (when I visited in December) but the rest of the year you can throw coins in and sit alongside it and have a good coffee. All in all a nice area of central Colchester.

Lots of run of the mill shops. Nothing new, good place if you know your high street shops and that's what you expect. I prefer individual independent shopping myself. But still... these shops are there and good to pop into for your everyday shopping. I'd rather shop in person anyday than online, so it's super great to keep our high streets going for ALL to be able to use and to keep locals in local jobs. And for that reason alone...Well done, highly recommended. ✨

For the first time in 2 years, the place felt busy on a Saturday, with a nice buzz. Having the various food and drink stalls really help, as does the live music. Makes a shopping trip much more of an experience.

Was a great place to shop now since Debenhams and a few other shops have gone it looks really shabby needs a good clean up and new shops also cannot believe they have not even put the Christmas tree up this year

Shopped in Schuh and H&M in Culver square today and browsed in Superdry. Thankfully these shops are still in this location. It was however, sad to see the empty once beautiful Debenhams! Love what has replaced the water fountain, gorgeous natural display!

Culver square, with the closing of Debenhams is now becoming less of an attraction in what has been a once vibrant shopping area

  • 1/5 JOHN A. 2 years ago on Google
The place is going from bad to very bad no atmosphere no decent shops now .Colchester as a whole is full of barbers nail shops and cafes..used to have a vibrant street market no more I don't know what the council is trying to do with the town centre shame

  • 2/5 David M. 1 year ago on Google
Dying like the rest of colchester. We're a city with NO bus station, no major retailers other than Primary and expensive car parking and a totally useless council. Say no more!

We need a public drinking water supply. Now that their isn't a coffee shop we can't get drinking water.

😠 The entrance and exit is the most shameful design known to man. Who ever thought this was a great design needs to go back to school. Writing this review whilst trying to get out, been stationary for over 20 minutes, what does that say about the environment! Totally unacceptable.
