Hard to make reservations in winter, but after arrive Ginzan Onsen and live in Notoya Ryokan, you'll know why it's so popular. It's one of the must visit attraction in Japan.

the room was a bit small, but its very "Japanese style", staff were very friendly and when we check-out the owner were very sweet that saying thanks and good-bye at lobby.

Ryokan Kaiseki. Second time staying in a Ryokan accompanied with a kaiseki for dinner. Food was not that impressive and they were saved by the fantastic beef Shabu shabu (albeit only with 2 slices). The location is picturesque but I still prefer my first Ryokan + Kaiseki experience in Hakone years ago Ryokan Breakfast + Curry Bun and Age Tofu. Kaiseki style breakfast at the Ryokan we stayed at Ginzan Onsen. Like the dinner the night before, nothing to wow to shout about. The Kare (Curry) bun (last pic) we had after the breakfast walk at the shop at the entrance to all these bathhouses taste much more fulfilling actually.

Superb private outdoor onsen at the top of ryokan. You need to walk upstairs about 7min and please bring the soap and shampoo with you as there is no soap up there. There is also a private bath underground. I haven’t tried but it looks very interesting. Dinner and Breakfast were awesome. They served local food such as local vegetables and fish from the nearby waterfall. Room rate is quite expensive but worth to visit.

Notoya Ryokan provided the most incredible experience I have had, to date, in Japan. Every aspect of my stay, especially the service, facilities, view, and food, was excellent. I look forward to staying at Notoya again in the future.

It was an amazing ryokan experience. The service was top notch and the food is something you can never experience in most japanese restaurants. The outdoor onsen was amazing as well. Highly recommended to stay here

Amazing experience! Staff were exceptional and the room was gorgeous. All very traditionally Japanese. The food was very different to what we are used to but good to try something new
