As
a
long-time
resident
of
Noblesville,
I
was
excited
to
see
the
Piper
resurrected
from
the
ashes
of
the
Deer
Creek
Pub
and
Bistro.
I
remember
the
old
days
of
the
Sandpiper,
and
how
popular
it
used
to
be.
The
previous
owner
of
this
location
also
owned
the
now
defunct
Barley
Island,
and
it
eventually
shut
down
due
to
failure
to
pay
his
liquor
license
in
time.
I
had
a
lot
of
hope
that
this
new
owner
would
take
the
business
seriously
and
provide
a
clean,
friendly
place
to
get
a
good
bite
to
eat
on
this
side
of
town.
I
heard
and
saw
many
good
things
about
the
new
Piper,
most
notably
the
food,
so
we
decided
to
give
it
a
try
on
a
Wednesday,
hoping
it
wouldn’t
be
too
busy.
Upon
arriving
I
was
shocked
to
see
how
much
cleaner
the
interior
was.
They
put
a
lot
of
time
and
effort
into
brightening
it
up
and
making
it
feel
welcome.
There
was
no
greeter
or
hostess,
so
we
grabbed
an
empty
table.
Although
the
dining
area
was
only
about
half
full,
the
wait
time
was
incredibly
long
due
to
only
one
server
helping
everyone.
We
sat
for
about
15
minutes
before
we
were
even
acknowledged.
She
was
however
very
apologetic,
and
got
our
drinks
and
order
in
promptly.
Unbeknownst
to
me,
they
hired
an
old
friend
of
mine
from
school
in
the
kitchen
to
help
craft
the
menu
and
run
the
kitchen.
He
saw
me
when
he
delivered
food
for
a
table
and
stopped
by
to
say
hey.
He
told
us
about
the
opening,
the
food,
and
the
great
response
from
the
community.
I
was
excited
at
that
point,
because
it’s
hard
to
find
good,
fresh,
unique
food
in
this
area.
And
he
definitely
did
not
disappoint!
The
smash
burgers
he
brought
us
were
some
of
the
best
I’ve
ever
had,
and
he
has
real
pride
in
his
culinary
abilities.
Unfortunately,
that
was
the
only
real
highlight
of
the
visit.
The
service
was
lackluster,
and
the
owners
of
the
establishment
sat
at
the
bar
the
entire
time,
ignoring
customers
who
had
to
wait
for
15+
minutes
just
to
put
a
drink
in.
The
male
was
going
behind
the
bar
for
his
own
drinks
on
many
occasions
while
vaping
at
the
counter.
At
least
the
female
was
kind
enough
to
take
her
smoking
outside.
The
last
straw
however,
and
the
reason
for
my
1
star
review:
The
week
of
thanksgiving
they
had
a
water
main
issue,
and
had
no
fresh
water
for
food
prep,
hand
washing,
or
restrooms.
My
mutual
friend
who
worked
there
informed
the
owner
it
was
a
violation
of
health
code
and
they
had
to
close,
since
he
couldn’t
even
wash
his
hands
in
the
kitchen.
The
owner
refused,
and
fired
him
as
a
result.
Incredibly
unprofessional,
borderline
illegal,
and
enough
for
me
to
NEVER
eat
here
again.
This
location
has
real
potential,
if
it
could
get
some
owners
who
would
treat
it
like
a
real
business,
and
respect
the
workers
who
helped
them
get
there
in
the
first
place.
It
seems
the
new
owners
are
treating
it
like
their
personal
hangout,
just
like
the
previous
owner.
