Incredibly great museum for just 200 yen. Lots of information that's easily digestible, even English is available. The staff is very kind. The view from the top is great, you can see many mountains in winter. Afterwards you can stroll through the park outside or along the rivers.

It is rather difficult to miss this landmark -- which looks like a traditional Japanese castle. However, this "castle" is not the original historical building which was demolished soon after Meiji Restoration. The impressive building is a modern construction in 1995 imitating the historical castle in Edo period (although I am not sure how faithful it is as a reconstruction), and hosting a museum. Sekiyado-Jo (Sekiyado Castle) was a military fort and the local government building for Sekiyado domain, which was small in size but important. Tokugawa Shogunate assigned feudal lords who were perceived faithful to Shogun to Sekiyado Domain. They were often assigned to important positions in Shogunate (central government). The original (now empty) site of the castle is about 500m south of this museum. The modern museum is not big, but has a nice exhibition on local geography and history. Unfortunately, however, it is perhaps not too informative if you cannot read Japanese. In any case, this is a nice stop if you are cycling on Tone-Gawa or Edo-Gawa cycling roads. You can access the rest area just outside the museum without paying the entrance fee.

Cool little museum. Though, if you cannot read Japanese or are visiting without someone who can, it is likely you won't be able to fully enjoy the museum.

I visited this castle-museum on a 128 kilometer cycling trip in January of 2021 and enjoyed its appearance very much. In the future I would very much like to see the interior. Props to Noda City and to Chiba Prefecture for the creation of such a magnificent structure. Really it’s worth seeing just from its exterior.

It's beautiful. A bit small compared to other castles. But the museum inside has lots of very accurate and useful information about Japan and Noda city. For foreigners who speak VB English and not Japanese, it's good because you will find many translations to English. Something you don't find in many Japanese museums.

Interested display of how flooding was controlled with dikes in the area. At the top, there is a viewing deck. Surrounding the castle there is a small parks where I saw many people bring their children to the playground as well as people walking their dogs. Nice place to stopover if you happen to pass by.

Typically never crowded unless there is an event. Easy access via bike/cycling road. Very friendly staff at the adjacent rest house. Bike stand and restroom facility.
