Fresh food, portioned nicely! Really enjoyed Mother’s Day breakfast ! The service was quick and the staff were genuinely friendly…this is my new “go-to” place.

We randomly picked this spot for breakfast when the other place we went to was closed. It was perfect. From the service to the food. Stacy was a fantastic waitress. The kids had cookie dough pancakes and loved them. I had the chicken and waffles. They were less traditional because they were topped with sausage gravy. The chicken was seasoned very well and not covered in syrup. My husband loved the homies. We will dine in again.

I am assuming the restaurant was shorted staffed like many locations currently. The tables were dirty and many had dirty dishes. The server was very friendly and helpful which is why I have rated as three stars. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t that great. chicken was cooked too long which left a burnt taste. There was a ton of some sort of butter on the waffle, but it was way too much. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was too good. The service was good, but the dirty tables and quality of food does not have me desiring to return. I suppose it may be an ok spot for a campus stop, but that is all.

Where do I begin? When we walked in to the restaurant we waited at the front door for about 5 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged, mind you there were about 3 tables sat. When the “manager” finally looked up from his computer he told us to pick a table but every single table had crumbs on it. When our server greeted us, we ordered the non alcoholic coffee flight. When it arrived at the table I took a sip and realized that it tasted odd, then I realized that there was alcohol in the coffee. I have been sober for 2+ years. I brought this to the attention of the server and she just said “oh okay”. A simple “sorry” goes a long way, and this was handled poorly by every person in that building. I get mess ups happen, but being so nonchalant about serving a sober person alcohol is concerning. The coffee flight that contained alcohol sat in-front of me for an additional 10 minutes while they remade the coffee flight. From across the restaurant I overheard the bartender explaining to another customer what the coffee flight was and that the one on the bar was a mess up because “the customer didn’t know there was alcohol in it”…. Even though I ordered the non alcoholic version. When the food finally came out, it was luke warm and there were incorrect items. The server didn’t check on us ONCE. I wish I was exaggerating. All the while, our server and her coworkers were laughing and chatting up at the bar. I try and see the benefit of the doubt in every situation and I believe that good service can makeup for mediocre food however, we didn’t receive ANY service and food was wrong and mediocre. Good thing an automatic gratuity of 18% was included with every check, because this was the worst service I’ve received in a long time. Sadly the quality of this place has gone down over the years. I guess that’s what you get for going to a restaurant run by college students. I never make reviews and I feel like sometimes they are pointless. But this whole experience was disturbing and honestly concerning. The staff needs extra training and a class or two on customer service. Not every customer wants to drink alcohol at noon on a Wednesday.

Mu husband and I tried to get lunch here while at work. First, they gave him a salad instead of his burger, so we wasted our lunch trying to get the correct order, and they gave him a half raw burger. When we complained, the chef/manager was rude and had a terrible attitude. I will never recommend the Granby Street location again. Go to the ODU or Virginia Beach locations. We've never had a problem with them. Only the very disrespectful chef/manager at the Granby Steeet location. Never go there.

I stopped by this place with my best friend. We love the great vibes this place always gives out. Their food is absolutely fantastic as well. I suggest getting the "Betty White" (RIP to a real one). The shot of whiskey I took for you (which is included in her special) was just as great as Betty White. Thanks for the great service btw Stephanie! The conversations were also just as good as their food. five stars for sure!

Been coming here for years and I love everything about it except the coffee which is weirdly thin. Everyone I know who comes here agrees that’s been the one weakness of this place. Still worth it but I hope they’ll switch at some point.

I decided to give this place a whirl for breakfast. It’s right off the campus of Old Dominion University and looked really good and the menu looked interesting. I sat at the bar since I was by myself. The bartender took my drink order and left me with the specials menu and the regular menu. The specials seemed like they’d be good, Oktoberfest-themed, but since I’m stationed in Germany it wouldn’t be fair to review this place based off their seasonal specials. I stuck to the basics, a sweet tea and Chesapeake Benedict. The sweet tea was overly sweet, almost bordering on syrup. As for the Benedict, it looked great but had its flaws. As an example, when I cut into the poached eggs I expected the yolk to seep down into the biscuit. The poached egg was overcooked and I didn’t get the yolky richness. As for the crab, it was there but was overpowered by the bacon. The two proteins didn’t harmonize together. And my last bit of harshness, the hollandaise, if it was on the plate you couldn’t taste it. As for the cheesy grits as a side, perfect consistency and the queso-like cheese sauce made the grits very creamy. As for the service, it was quite slow. It seemed to take a really long time get my food which might have led to the eggs being overdone. I might come back to give this place another shot. ***Update*** As promised I returned to this joint to give it another shot. This time I ordered the chicken and waffles (a house specialty) and it didn't disappoint. Though parts of the fried chicken were a little over-salted the entire meal had good flavor. The waffle had the right texture and the bacon infusion didn't overpower the waffle flavor. The candied bacon on top was a little much for me, but I could see how some would like it. The service at the bar was much better this go-around. I did notice the bartender added an 18% gratuity which affected my tip at the end. Overall, I'll update my rating and give it another star.

Food wasn't that good, grits we're cold, pancakes we're well done, biscuit & gravy we're terrible. The Biscuit we're nice & big but inside is uncook. The home fries was good and that's about it.

While the food here is really good, they’re beginning to practice inflation like everyone else.. consistently raising the prices while simultaneously decreasing the portion size. An entree from here is no longer worth the price as the portion size is not equitable. Their business hours are already weird with servers that take a while to get back to you— parking is very limited. Thankfully I won’t be in the area much longer to see what more they can take off of your plate; barely came here as it is.

This place was recommended for brunch by a friend and it did not disappoint. My bacon bloody mary was delicious and the perfect level of spicy. I also had the hair of the dog burger which was great and very big, two people could easily share it. We also went around 11 on a Saturday and there was no wait.

Went there for breakfast this morning. My friend and I waited at our table for 20 minutes and then finally had to go ask for a server to come take our drink and food order. It took another 10 minutes for only half of our drink order (2 OJs and 2 waters) to be served to the table behind us. The server realized she delivered the drinks to the wrong table and then went back to the table, grabbed the drinks, and brought them to us. We finally got our food about 45 minutes after arriving. The best part was we didn't get the waters, the easiest part of the order, until after we were done eating. On top of that the tables around us that ordered around the same time that we did, hadn't received their food and/or drinks. I assumed the kitchen was working slowly but as I was leaving I saw my server and one other server smoking and laughing behind the restaurant without a care in the world when most of the tables in the restaurant had customers. The food was good at least which is the only reason it's getting two stars overall.

OK wow, I can see why there's a wait here; the food is so good. Portions are huge and actually affordable. My friend didn't like the bloody Mary unfortunately. But the food? AMAZING. Service was wonderful. Coming back!

Food is just mid. I think it's more of a drinking place bc they seemed good and well priced. But bc we didn't order any we just had basic food that we didn't even finish.

The photo doesn’t do it justice, but the food and the atmosphere met my expectations and over achieved. I started with an island mimosa with enough kick to wake me up for the hefty meatloaf sandwich along the way. Topped with a spiced tomato jelly, bacon wrapped on a bed of mashed potatoes between two sourdough slices. This dish had me on my way and back in bed by 1pm. 6 stars if google would let me.
