This is the best hostel I have stayed in Colombia. Amazing staff especially the front desk, free breakfast with coffee. Very comfortable beds with excellent privacy and USB ports in every bunk. Multiple courtyards to hang out in with very comfortable leather furniture.

This is the best hostel in Colombia! I only planned to stay for a day or two, but I ended up staying a week at the beginning of my trip and a week at the end of my trip. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. Normally staying in a dormitory isn't great, but Masaya beds are totally enclosed and have thick privacy screens, so everyone has their own little hideaway. The hostel itself is beautiful and has 3 amazing public areas, 2 of which are very calm and quiet; the main gathering area has a restaurant, games, TV, music and there are always people to meet there. The food is really good here too. I had friends who were staying at other hostels, but the atmosphere at Masaya is so nice that they would come hang out here during the day anyway! They all wished they had chosen Masaya instead. The location is amazing-- right in the center of La Candelaria and within walking distance of many of Bogotá's most popular destinations, such as Monserrate, Gold Museum, Botero Museum and Chorro de Quevedo. There are also many good restaurants and cafés nearby. Most importantly of all, the Masaya staff are AMAZING! They are always at your service and seem so genuinely happy to be working here. Not only will they help you with all of your accomodation needs-- they will also play games and attend classes (which are often offered for free at the hostel) with guests. Oh and just to top it off, Masaya has the best prices I've seen at any hostel in Colombia, in addition to the best service. Come stay, you'll love it!

Masaya Hostel is an amazing place, probable the nicest hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff are some of the most accommodating people, especially as a foreigner, from local places to check out, to help with Covid testing for traveling home. Would recommend to everyone.

The best place where we've stayed in Colombia. A charming place with an incredible breakfast and an amazing staff always friendly and happy to answer questions. They have activities every single day on the week and the vibe at the hostel is excellent. We were there on a Sunday during their jamming session, the music was incredible and the musicians invited us to participate. Totally recommended, you won't be disappointed :)

Really enjoyed our stay at Masaya. Very comfortable and super clean rooms, friendly staff and great common spaces ideal for chilling or working. Location also convenient within minutes of all the main sights in down town

The place is great!!! Beds are comfortable, workers are friendly and always ready to help you and answer all your questions. There were free yoga and salsa classes for everyone who wants. On the reception you may find different tours which you can join for research the city. Don't hesitate and choose this place!

Nice hostel. Good breakfast options, nice location and rooms were clean and tidy. Only negative was my key card kept being faulty and they place music way too loud in the common areas.

Nice staff / private room we had was great, but we were kept awake until 2am by some inconsiderate people in internal courtyard - playing music and talking loudly. If staff could make sure this does not happen and enforce the quiet hours, would be a 5/5.

I believe they just reopened as there was a good amount of construction going on. However if it's supposed to eventually look like the pictures it could be a great hostel. Location is fantastic and close to museums, bolivar square, and Chorro de Quevedo (lively place where locals drink). Breakfast was excellent and coffee was best I had in Colombia. Was not super lively but met a few people and we explored together. Showers/bathrooms were clean. Only thing is the place was VERY cold. Need to fix.

Just in love with the place. So clean, room are really nice, bed comfortable, plus you can close the curtain to have a real privacy on the beds in the dormitory. The staff is also perfect ! I do recommence Masaya for your stay in Bogotá.

Nice place! Great location. The rooms are small with no sunlight... But rather than that super fun place.

Loved my stay. Great social vibes. Clean and perfectly located to explore the old town of Bogota. Kike and the stuff were amazing and very attentive. Thank you.

Nice enough place, good for a quiet visit but unlikely to make friends here. Better off going out for breaky and book your own transport to airports, we booked through the front desk who must have called a "mate" and 35 minutes later they still hadn't shown, we missed our flight. Uber would have been 10 mins wait but we kept being reassured they were "almost here". Not the hostels fault but an unpleasnant end to our time

Decent hostal that’s well located in La Candelaria. Room itself in the females-only dorm was stuffy as there wasn’t a window. There is also white light as opposed to soft white if that bothers anyone. The social aspect of this hostel is lacking as there aren’t many planned activities for guests to mingle. I saw some people co-working. On a positive note, the showers have good pressure. Breakfast was ok.

Positive: I liked the athmosphere that was created through the design. I also liked the rooms and the certains in front of every bed. So you can have a little bit of privatsphere. Negative: I didn't like too much, that there were so many families and kids. The said sometimes that we should take care of the kids needs an be quiet that they can sleep at an early hour. Thats not normal for a hostel and is kind of destroying the vibe aaaaaand with such an international hostel it would be sooo nice if the staff at the reception would be able to speak english whoop whoop

I really like this place and recommended this hostel. I just found that they were not much organized events during the time I was there. I really liked the organization of the room with the shower and toilet in the room make everything easy.

A bit disappointing. Location is good and staff are very nice. However, there was no vibe when I was there. The shower was outside the dorm room and there were no hangers at all, I had to put my towel outside and it got wet from rain. My sheets were dirty as well.

Really easy to get where you want in La Candelaria and the breakfast is one of the best we've had in hostels. The rooms are also really nice and clean and the staff are lovely.

It was a really nice hostel in a good central location. Nice big communal chill out areas and a nice breakfast. The staff are all friendly and speak a good level of English. The only minor complaint I would have is that the showers were cold. But other than that can't grumble :)

Perfect place to stay while in Bogota. Location is good, amenities are good (kitchen could be better) but rooms are great!

Honestly the best place to stay in La Candelaria. Clean and effective. If you are a woman, book the female dorm because there's a private bathroom inside :)

Very nice hostel. The staff are very supportive. Nice environment and clean rooms, bath, ... they have a lot of daily events and a good bar. Beer and cocktails were very nice. I liked their salsa classes. You have access to a lot of cool places without needing a ride. They also suggest you some tours. I took the bicycle tour for 40.000 pesos and it was well worth. Definitely recommend this hostel.

Everything 100%, comfy beds with shutters for privacy; all female dorms are great with private bathroom; 12pm silence well-respected; fun activities and tours organised; location right in heart of Candelaria; really couldn’t recommend it more. Great place to meet people! Staff are super friendly and helpful too. Breakfasts are epic.

Got a private private room with en suite bathroom. Everything was so nice, the room was perfect and the stuff was very helpful.

Facilities and staff were okay, but what really left a sour taste in the mouth was charging 5000 COP for a single small bottle of water. The guy on reception told me that the hostel buys these for around 200/300 each at the market, so having them so expensive just really feels like taking advantage of and ripping off guests, rather than charging them a fair price. If the hostel really valued its guests, rather than just seeing them as walking wallets, they'd lower the price for water.

Really liked this hostel. Beds are well designed with individual lights and sockets. The kitchen is really smart and very clean. Staff are friendly. They have a huge luggage storage room which has been invaluable for our coming and going. Good bar and lots of different activites on through the week!

It was my second hostel stay ever and I didn't know exactly what to expect. Overall it was a great experience in their private room. The included breakfast ( with the private room ) was filling and had a great sampling of different local fruits. Our first night we did have a room that was less than desirable. Room 17 and 18 are right next to the main hang out area. The music and people's conversations end up being pretty loud. I would avoid those if you could. They moved us when we complained which made us infinitely more happy. Also, I might recommend bringing some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper due to the creak of the bed with any movement. It was pretty comfy for a hostel bed though.

Very nice hostel in a charming colonial house. I loved the location, in the heart of the Candelaria area and surrounded by nice coffee places and restaurants. The hostel offers plenty of activities to discover the city and the night life. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, a special note for Kike who gave me plenty of advices and helped me with my next travel. I definitely recommend.

Very nice hostel, a bit more expensive but you get more your money. It is in an old house which is quite big and beautifully maintained. The shower and toilets are great. I stayed in the dormitory and the toilets were inside the room. The dorm was Japanese capsule hotel style and the beds were very comfortable and the duvet super soft. Also every capsule had a roll down screen for privacy light and charging sockets. What I did not like are people smoking all the time in the courtyards and on the balcony below the dormitory. They should ban smoking in the hostel. It is disgusting! Also I cannot leave open the window. And by the way the window handle in the big dormitory was broken so I could not close it properly. There was no choice but get the smoke in. People are so disrespectful especially smokers. Also some were being extremely noisy at night. I had trouble sleeping and m had earplug. Again some people are just dorks but it would be good if the hostel would implement a silent time policy at night. Also no smoking 🚭

Best hostel in Bogotá. The beds and pillows are excellent. Laundry service is on point. And the staff are exceptionally friendly. Much better than any other hostel is stayed at! Definitely going back. 5/5

Great location and friendly staff who spoke English with me when my Spanish failed (often). Quiet hostel with a decent breakfast in the morning. We had a private room with a comfortable bed and big shower, but the room was very cold. Slept with sweaters on every night and still was cold. My main gripe with this hostel was getting in at night. They say it's staffed 24hrs, but if you are coming back late at night then expect to be waiting outside for 10-15 minutes before someone lets you in (even if you ring the bell repeatedly). This felt unsafe for me as a woman alone on the street at 2am - best to ask your taxi to wait with you until they let you in.

I stopped at the Masaya a few days before my flight back to Canada. Supposed to be a simple short stay with nothing exceptional. But I met the most exceptional bar man at the hostel who made me discover Bogota like I had never thought! Kike Cifuentes, a passionate and dynamic employee who has transformed a simple stay at the hostel into a real adventure. Thank you for everything!

This is a correction to my previous review. I talked to the front desk about the noise issue and they were very helpful and gave us another room. The new room was much quieter and made the stay far more enjoyable. The location is very convenient for daytime excursions. The breakfast is included, it was probably the healthiest meal I had on my trip.

Had a lovely time at Masaya. The location is awesome, so close to everything in Candelaria area. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Special mention to Kike and Anna Maria - always smiling. Booked for 3 nights and stayed for 7

Anna Maria and Kike were super friendly and very helpful. They are patient if you want to practice your Spanish ;) the hostel is beautifully renovated and has lots of resources for those new to the city. I highly recommend!

Nice hotel, clean, comfortable. It’s in the middle of an authentic Bogota busy street, but once you cross the doorstep everything is quiet and relaxed.

That's a great hostel! I stayed for a week and felt like home. The staff are super nice and happy to help, the location can't be better, the beds are comfi and provide privacy and the showers are hot and amazing. Definitely recommend!

Excellent hostel, indeed more. The location is very central and you can't ask for better, the structure is an old house that has been perfectly renovated. There is a bar open to the public with good dishes, Sio cocktails and breakfasts at a very honest price, there are three patios, two of which are for guests where the typical hostel atmosphere is created, with chatting between guests and also the pleasant staff. The rooms are equipped with niches, however very comfortable and always very clean. They also offer tours, I participated in one and the organization was efficient and the price was very affordable. Absolutely recommended.

We loved our stay at Masaya! The aesthetics were really nice, the facilities were clean, there was good WiFi, the breakfast (not included but can be bought for a small fee) was diverse and delicious, beds and blankets were comfortable. Only things that would have made it better: bigger lockers in the dorms and bathlinen. We felt very welcomed by the nice staff! Thanks to Kike especially ☺️
