If you get the tides (ideally 2 hours after low tide onwards) and wind right..can be totally amazing experience like my photos below. Truly a treasure for Perth.

This place is amazing. Only issue is itโ€™s absolutely infested with parasites. Lawyers, business owners, landlords, that sort of thing. Most of them are trust fund kids who migrated over from the golden triangle. One day the working class will reclaim the nice parts of town for themselves. Until then, you have to deal with the rubbish parking after driving 30 minutes from your affordable hovel.

The beaches around Perth are what make the place special. This is a great sheltered spot for children learning to snorkel. best time to go is just after low tide and in the morning when the winds are not so blustery. bring sunblock a hat and shelter though as the UV index is at its highest in the morning.

Best for snorkelling, other beaches nearby are more suited for casual swimming

We were there in March 2018. The sea was very warm and nice for swimming and diving. You can see some fishes near the beach. The beach is nice but there are many rocks so you have to be careful where you walk. For snorkeling it's okay but there are algae everywhere sometimes you can't see so much.

Love this place! great for snorkeling - perfect for amateurs like me too. Beware there are some sharp rocks about, I like to wear reef boots but it's not essential. Can be a little less windy because it's in a small cove, but still best around 10am - 1pm in Summer

Full of rocks, and some very sharp ones at that. Considering the beaches along Perth, we cannot understand why this is so popular... Definitely avoid.

Excellent snorkeling in this protected beach about 15 minutes from the Perth CBD. Mettams is my favourite beach in Perth and a top choice to bring children who will benefit from the protective reef which prevents waves and sharks from entering the crystal clear Lagoon. Surfing areas can be found just north of the lagoon area. Small hidden sunbathing areas away from the wind can be accessed across the rocks at the southern end. Coffee available 400m away at yelo cafe.

A calm beach surrounded by reefs. Less surfs and transparent water, great for family with little kids. Shower and public toilets nearby.

Nice and calm in the water given the surrounding reefs, but lots of rocks leading down to the shore so better suited to older kids that can navigate them. Our toddler struggled. Also a very small area to sit so it gets crowded very quickly.

Not only it isn't the correct spot. It's highly not recommended to swim. Even 2 m from shores, very strong undercurrent. It could be lethal for a grown up person.

(Translated by Google) Quite small and stony. The water is clear and there are a few fish and sea grass to see with snorkeling equipment. There are interesting sandstone formations on the beach. Otherwise the beach doesn't have much to offer. There is a shower and a toilet.

Good sheltered beach for kids with clear water. Ramps leading down from road for easy access. Just be aware of the rocks.

Fantastic place to snorkel or just paddle around. Kid friendly, don't get in too late or it can get crowded and if there's a bit of swell visibility in the water drops, so get on down before the breeze comes in.

Pretty spot, good for snorkelling just be careful of the sharp rocks as you enter the water from the beach with the waves. Toilets and showers on site. Otherwise, it's a pretty spot.

(Translated by Google) The waves here are big and there are a lot of rocks And the reef is in a shallow place by the sea, which is dangerous and easy to get injured. Those who have little experience in swimming should pay attention to safety (Original)

Good snorkeling spot, plenty of fish on the reefs. Check the wind before hand, anything less than 15km/hr except from the west is a good timing. 30C and up is recommended.

Home of the blue ringed octopus. The odd wobbygong shark and sea cobbler. Often used by surfers which can be dangerous. Abalone fishers drown and have accidents here. Parking is restricted and access steps are challenging. Not for the elderly.

Perfect snorkelling area for beginners, you can see plenty of beautiful corals and fishes in the shallow area. I've seen huge mantis rays, colourful fishes and octopus here. Location is conveniently near nice cafes, showers and changing rooms.

The wind has blown away alot of sand so limestone and rocks all over the shore. Also I was nipped by blowfish on the toes, it's been an unusual spawning season so there are many more than usual. Hopefully the sand returns ...

Nice beach. Snorkeling is a good experience to see small fish. Depending on low or high tide they are sometimes visible. There are spacious toilets, changing rooms, shower facilities.

Beautiful spot for snorkeling, exploring sea world, watching the fish and enjoying the sunset. Easy access and have car parks close by. Grab a coffee from Yelo, sit on the beach, listen to the ocean and wind, enjoy the peaceful moment.

The kids love it here! Do yourself a snorkel and head down this summer. The little ones will thank you. Our two ratbags can spend the whole day here.
