The customer service was amazing! The food was delicious and fresh. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and the I absolutely loved the rice. I would highly recommend their tiramisu; not only it was beautiful to look as but also delicious. I went with my friends to for graduation celebration and I would highly recommend for any friends and family get together. The atmosphere was really nice and the restaurant was very clean. Can't wait to go back!

Stopped in for a quick lunch & left very happy and satisfied! Customer service⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We waited a little too long before the hostess saw us and seated us. The waiter was very nice, forgot a few things but overall did a good job. The Food⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve had Ethiopian before, but never this good. I was extremely pleasantly surprised at the seasoning and the punch of flavor with every bite. Everything was extremely fresh and also beautifully plated. The Ambiance⭐️⭐️⭐️ They could use a little help in this department, we were only given the option to sit outside and even though they had some heaters it was quite cold and our feet & hands got very cold. Cleanliness⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would have given them five stars if it wasn’t for the bathroom being such a mess.

I ordered the chicken rice and lentil and it was all very good! The staff were so friendly even though we were slightly loud and stayed for a long time. I really enjoyed this hole-in-the wall spot. Despite the size the inside was very well ventilated. It was definitely a popular place to eat because there was a lot of people. And despite the fact that the bathroom was just 1 toilet , it was kept very clean! I would definitely eat here again!

Omg that was my first time and I was melting away with various tastes and spices. Loved it. Order veggie platter with salmon and honey wine.

Every time, it’s a Hit! Veggie Platter with the Prime Rib Tibs and Lentil Sambousa got me dancing My My My. Slappin. The collards are not southern, they’re Ethiopian. Gotta try em to know the difference. Didn’t taste broth based, more pan seared/ cooked straight up. The pita bread was plain and kinda fluffy and not light and crispy. We are so full with leftovers at a great price. So fast and nice. Really one of our favorite places. They close at 9 during weekdays mostly. Plenty of seating for a kinda small place.

Lovely food with great people. You are fan of Ethiopian cuisine then you must try Desta. Usually there is always a queue or wait time for 15-25 mins minimum at weekends during lunch and dinner hours. I will recommend to book a table in advance if you are visiting during that time.

First time at Desta, I enjoy Ethiopian food and so had to try this new restaurant 😋. It was packed but luckily we found table without any wait. The staff was friendly and very kind. We ordered vegan platter, it was enough for 2 persons to share. Loved the spongy bread (that's my favorite part) 😍 the lentils, cabbage, mushroom stew and everything else on the plate was delicious. Good quantity and quality. Will definitely come back with the fam! Keep up the good work and service!

Very good food. Delicious. Our server was very helpful & patient. She helped us pick what we like. Recommend some of the really good items. Long lines for dine in. We waited about 45 mins but totally worth the wait. Napoleon & tiramisu dessert were too good. Awaze is for you if you like spicy 🌶 food.

Update: finally went back and of course they did not disappoint. Brought new friends as well to make them try something new. This is out of their comfort zone but they loved it😊 i forgot to take a pic of sambusa but it is super good, both the beef and lentil. Ethiopian food was something new to me. I am so glad that my friends introduced me to the best one in town to be my first taste. I am obsessed with injera and i got to taste the platter that my friend got. It’s a long drive for me but I can’t wait to go back.

Intense flavors that were simple, mouth-watering, and fresh. We ordered the vegan platter and then we added a lamb dish and an additional gluten free plate of injera. If you are unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine I highly recommend studying the online menu before you go as understanding the server’s ingredient descriptions behind the mask was a challenge. Despite that, she a was very patient, friendly, and accommodating.

Delicious food. We took a veggie platter for two people and it was more than enough. My friends had shrimp and chicken tibs and they loved it. It was pretty crowded on a Wednesday night. Great service too. There were few tables occupied late after the closing time, yet the staff were so courteous and no at all in rush. (Thanks for that) Desserts looked so good too, but we were not able to try any, as we were so full. Edit: We had Napoleon this time and it was great.

This was my first time experiencing Ethiopian cuisine. The food was wonderful and the service was great. Our orders came out really quickly. The location is small but expanding from what I understand.

This was the second time I've visited Desta Ethiopian and both times the experience was excellent. I took my wife on a date night the first time and it was such a good experience I decided to take family that was visiting us in Atlanta. The food is very flavorful and the service is excellent. I highly recommend this place!!

So far, two for two. I've done at this restaurant on two occasions and have been pleasantly surprised each time. The entrees are always tasty and mouth watering. The services fast and friendly. I look forward to my third visit.

Surprisingly diverse and trendy restaurant! The demographics of this place was endless and wide ranging. You’ll have to see for yourself! Just know, There is a “place” at the table for everyone- literally! Get there before 6pm or make a reservation online to avoid the wait. The food choices are plentiful and the menu is easy to read. Even being an amateur to Ethiopian cuisine I navigated with ease. The food is soft, fragrant, spicy and flavorful. Love the traditional of using the spongy bread to slop up whatever’s on your plate! ♥️. Service was awesome and food came out fast! The Tej Honey wine was such a treat! Its only available by the bottle ($30) but it’s worth the splurge since there are No other restaurants that serve it! 🐝 Parking is ample but be careful, the lot is in need of major resurfacing!

First time trying ethiopian food and I loved every bit of it. We had tibs with tilapia and mushroom, rice, and tomato fitfit. We also had kitfo. We were truly impressed with how flavorful tibs was. My favorite part was rice side dish (i know it’s a weird dish to pick) but its subtle flavor was so lovely. Tomato fitfit is pretty sharp but I loved it. Service was fantastic. We will go again!

Desta was everything I could have asked for while visiting Atlanta! As we were seated on the outside patio, the vibe was set as I noticed Afrobeat Music playing making me feel at home. I ordered the Vegan Platter and it did not disappoint. every item on the platter was bursting with flavor and obviously lots of love. PLEASE,  try this place out and it will truly become part of your weekly routine to frequent. Anytime I'm in Atlanta, trust that this will be a must stop, no questions asked.

It was my first time coming and I would love to come here again and again. The wait was kind of long but that was not bad at all as you could order a drink from the bar and enjoy while waiting. The price for the meat and veggie platter combined was not too bad and could feed up to 4 easily. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. My favorite was the mushroom stew and the grilled shrimp. Would highly recommend coming here!

It is one of the best rated restaurants in the Atlanta area. I've visited here more than 10 years, and it's great every time. Try the meat lover. You can pick variety meats, veggies, and sides. Location is right off at I-85 exit 91, where you can easily get to. I recommend it to anyone.

First time trying Ethiopian cuisine and OMG! The food is absolutely delicious. Every single side I included was better than the next. I was in town on business and I wish I had a Desta in Florida. I can’t wait to be back in ATL to have this dish again.

Titi and her staff planned and prepared the most delicious tasting menu for our group of 40 high school students and families and took the time to explain the food and the Ethiopian culture.. My family and I look forward to coming back to try more delicacies shown soon.

What a hidden gem!! We wanted to try something different on our way back to TN and this hit the spot. I haven't had real Ethiopian food in years so I was beyond excited to try this place. The service was great, they answered our questions and made sure we were good throughout our dinner. The food was delicious. I would of taken some to go but we had a few hours before we reached home so I opted not to. What surprised me is that my son actually liked it as well and he's a picky eater. If you want some authentic Ethiopian food don't let the outside fool you. Give this place a try

Phenomenal meal. If you don't know what you want but you're hungry, just get the meat lovers platter. Three kinds of meat, with three sides and three starches. We got ribeye, lamb, and salmon, with 3 soups, and the injera rolls for all our starches. Absolutely delicious, would go back definitely. Only downside was that they don't accept cash.

I haven't been to Desta in over 4 years due to the pandemic, which caused me to work from home. Today I had lunch with an old friend today and the food was just as delicious as I remembered.

One of the best Ethiopian food places anywhere outside of Ethiopia. And I have been to plenty! Their customer service is quite unparalleled to anything you will find elsewhere. Their service is quick and are able to accommodate the seemingly endless diverse group of eaters at ease. Their food; however, is the best story of the house. It has so much flavor it takes me back home. I keep coming shamelessly because that’s all I crave everyday. You just have to try it.

I was in the mood for Gomen (Ethiopia collard greens), fried tilapia and injera (Ethiopia bread). My usual spot didn’t have any fresh fish today so I decided to come here because it was close and I have heard about it. So me and my bestie went & order the vegan (actually vegetarian) platter with salmon and grouper. First the fish comes chopped in bite size pieces instead of whole or a fillet style. It’s cooked with grill red onion and tomatoes (mainly to stretch the amount) but I like the flavors together. The gomen was not good. The other vegetable’s were good but every thing was missing something. The flavors were not as strong and authentic as I like or prefer. Overall the service was fast, food was hot and atmosphere was very chill and great for families and gathering. We sat outside on the closed in patio and enjoy the nice breeze. Inside is very small, it only can fit 1 large group and about 5 more tables of 4’s. Plenty of free parking all around the building. And they have a bar and drive up for online or called in orders.

Great Ethiopian cuisine can’t go wrong with the meat lovers option. Chose steak, chicken, lamb. All very tender. Sides we chose gormen, tibbs , mushroom stew. Also a side of Aswani For extra heat. There was a wait time but well worth it only 20 mins. The aroma around the perimeter will keep you excited and anticipating. Let me also say I have more than once sampled homemade Ethiopian fare and this is legit. Also two of my guests never tried Ethiopian before and they both stated they will return with guest

I ordered the lamb tibs with injera and gomen. Perfect serving size, my lamb was cooked a little too well done for my preference, but the flavor made up for it. I will definitely come back.

Was recommended this restaurant by a chef I work with; I'm not particularly a fan of Ethiopian food but I figured I'd give it a go. Needless to say I was very pleasantly surprised; the appetizers (I ordered the Sambusa and Fitera) were simple but well made, and the hot sauce for the sambusa complemented it especially well. The entrees were amazing too -- the marinade on the chicken tasted great and it was very juicy despite how small the tibs were cut (which I was impressed by), and the potato stew had the perfect level of spice to it. Only thing I didn't completely enjoy was the injera, but I have never been one for injera anyway. Overall, a pleasant surprise, and easily the best Ethiopian food I've had

We went to celebrate a friend girls birthday so there were about 12 of us and the service was great! Kind friendly people and the food OMG good!! I have been back since that visit and already have a trip planned back in August.

I stopped here for lunch today, the weather was perfect so I sat on their covered patio. I wasn’t sure what to order, but the waiter recommended the lamb tibs, so I had that with rice, salad, gomen, and pita bread. This was one of the best meals that I’ve had in a while. The meat was tender and seasoned well, very flavorful, with a slight spicy kick to it. The side of gomen was SO good and definitely my favorite part of the meal. Service was good and the food came out relatively fast. I can’t wait to dine here again.

Lord have mercy on my tummy! This food was so stellar I could not resist eating way more than I should. I boxed up half my meal and still left stuffed. Excellent service, excellent ambiance and very reasonable prices for this to-die-for food. Will be returning for sure!

Everything was really good. 10 out of 10 would do again! We got the meat platter and the vegan platter along with 2 appetizers, 2 beers and a house margarita. Service was great. Spent around 120$ for 2 ppl. But what we order could easily feed 4.

We had an amazing time at Desta and we will be back every time we come back to Atlanta. Our waiter Yafet was phenomenal and he went above and beyond not only for us but each table he was serving. He was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us pick the perfect items. He is truly an asset to Desta. He was so amazing that we had to let the manager know and mom got a photo with the amazing manager running the show! 10 out of 10. Don’t walk to Desta. RUN to Desta!

  • 3/5 Angus B. 2 years ago on Google
First, I want to say I really enjoy food from Desta - I typically order from other locations and haven’t had a negative experience at any of them but this one. I don’t know what it could have been, but I had stomach pains and digestive issues after eating here, and the only other thing I had that day was a coffee in the morning. But the food still tasted great so 3 stars.

So I’ve always been looking for good Ethiopian food and we have been eyeing this place for the longest time. This was the first time we ate here and I have to say I’m a huge fan. Halal options in particular are super useful. Not everything is halal so I would double check with the staff for sure. We got the meat platter to try the different meats in our favorites where the chicken and the lamb. Both of which were halal. Otherwise my favorite thing about Ethiopian food is Injira. This is traditional Ethiopian bread which is soft but has a mild sour aftertaste to it which is delicious especially when paired with the other food. The honey Filo pastry and egg appetizer was delicious too. Strongly recommended.

This was our first time trying an Ethiopian Cuisine. I could relate the food and taste to Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. They have vegan options too.The presentation of the food was appealing. The ambience of this place was good and clean. The lady who served us was polite, pleasant and helped us with the menu as we are new to the cuisine. Overall it’s a good option to visit if you love Ethiopian cuisine or you need to try something out of the ordinary like us.

1st time ever eating Ethiopian food. And I guess we were lucky to come here with friends. Food was awesome! We ordered the meat platter and a side of rice. It was plenty for the 4 of us. Meats were all full of flavor but my favorite was the steak. Loved the lentils as well. The rice had a nice kick to it 😋 Would definitely go back if in that part of town again.

  • 3/5 Hycine 2 years ago on Google
Desta was cool. It was my first time eating Ethiopian food. The food had a good taste and came out so fast! One of my friends and I had the Tibs with ribeye, potatoes, and cabbage. She also had a side called miser, which she said was tasty and spicy. My other friend had the lamb, and it was seasoned to perfection. I will go back to try it next time. Our server was very sweet. I would give more stars, but I think it's time for them to upgrade their building and some of the menu pictures don't match with their actual offerings.
