Good, but not great. $12 ticket - good There are like 3 parts to it. First part - there is nothing much - just some forest & some wooden topless houses - no flowers , nothing great Second part - has some variety of flowers - this part is good Third part - the administrative building side - so pleasant & calm, some chickens & some wood houses , countryside, good overall

We had our wedding at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden on 5/7/23. It was a wonderful experience for us. Everyone we interacted with in the events department was friendly and helpful. The natural beauty of the venue helped us save some money and effort on decor and allowed for some gorgeous scenes for photos. We are so glad this is someplace we can come back and visit on our anniversaries in the future.

This should NOT be called a botanic garden!!! By definition: A botanic garden is a garden dedicated to the collection, cultivation, preservation and display of an especially wide range of plants, which are typically labelled with their botanical names. It may contain specialist plant collections such as cacti and other succulent plants, herb gardens, plants from particular parts of the world, and so on; there may be greenhouses, shadehouses, again with special collections such as tropical plants, alpine plants, or other exotic plants. And this is not IT!! Wasted my time to drive out there and walk around “trails”, Japanese garden doesn’t have any Japanese plants, just a Japanese lantern, special exhibition doesn’t have anything at all! No special plant collections… instead, we saw some lame wooden buildings, wild flowers (that you can see anywhere, I didn’t even bother to take pictures of them since they are not worth my phone memories), some annuals, some sand for young kids to play, 2 boxes of bees. This might be good for event venue, keeping young kids busy (younger than 5), again, should not be called botanic garden… I felt deceived… Before purchasing the tickets, I asked the lady at the booth, how are the flowers in the garden? She said the pollinator flowers are in full bloom… However, she failed to mention that there are not many interesting collection of flowers…

The best thing to do here is become a member. Go back every week and enjoy the changing of the seasons. The only tip for the place is to make sure the cafe doesn’t run out of hot chocolate when it’s cold!

I've visited in the fall and for the amazing winter light show just this season. I absolutely love what this place has to offer. It's so important to educate our young humans to care about nature and native species and the botanic garden is definitely doing that. As for the light show... holy mother of pearl was it so beautiful!!! I could have stayed forever if not for worrying about my feet freezing off ♡ will definitely return in the spring and summer ♡

Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is such a beautiful location full of bright greenery, flowers, and beautiful spaces. The interior of the main building is stunningly modern and a beautiful backdrop for interesting portraits. The barn and reception space are so fun and beautiful. The entire area is a wonderful backdrop for couples on their wedding day. I highly recommend! I love photographing weddings at this beautiful location.

PBG was such a beautiful wedding for our wedding on 5/20/2023. We loved being able to make the space our own and have both indoor and outdoor options. We also had so many great spots throughout the garden for photos as well. Having preferred vendors for rentals and catering also made coordinating easy. The events team was also very easy to work with as well. Thank you for giving me my dream wedding!

Beautiful blooms 🌺 Our first time visiting the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. A gorgeous walk in any direction and you do a lot of walking. Nice and spread out so you are not crowded by others. First stop was the Japanese Lotus Pond. Oh, the beauty of this area. A bridge over water filled with lily pads and lotus flowers. Benches bordering the circle for a peaceful view. 🪷 We then headed to Bookworm Glen which was unfortunately closed for maintenance, but we look forward to returning when it is open. The Hermit Hut was open and we loved the art display located here! The apiary was a nice learning area and then onto circling the Dogwood Meadow. A break in the Highmark Gazebo and then back out for more! On our way, we met up with a recycled family that greeted us with big smiles! Down into the Five Senses Garden for a view of some unique veggies growing, children’s play area, music love and more! The flowers still in bloom were beautiful! We visited the bird’s nest which is a cute find. 🪺 We checked out the Davidson Event Center. You can just imagine the beauty of holding a bridal shower or wedding here. We stopped into the welcome center for a live concert, recycled wall art installations and to visit the gift shop. The gift shop is little small for the amount of people, kind of hard to get through especially if there is a line at the register. Last stop, Heritage Homestead. Learning along the way, we had to watch out for falling walnuts! We really enjoyed this visit and we’re excited to check it off our Pittsburgh Bucket List. May come back Spring-Summer to check out a difference in blooms. A nice place to visit!

Pittsburgh Botanical Gardens is absolutely beautiful. Just gorgeous. This place is fun for the entire family. There is a cafe, sitting room and gift shop. Fabulous art installations throughout, some interactive for children. The gardens are dog friendly. There are benches to relax everywhere. Lots of hidden sites that wind back to main paths. The trails are easy to manage and interconnected so you can’t get lost. I absolutely loved it here and will go back again and again. Just a treat for all your senses.

The gardens are beautiful. The trails are well-maintained and a fairly easy walk. We managed to get to a little over 3 miles for a nice, relaxed workout. Lots of great little things to explore for the kids (and grown-ups, too). Lots of green space to roam and run. Dogs are welcome, on leash. I got to pet several during our walk. We completed our visit with a trip to the Canopy Cafe and the gift shop. Lots of fun things to look at. The food was fresh and yummy.

Dazzling Nights was so fun!!! For it being the first time they did this, it was very well organized. Spent a solid hour checking everything out. Portions of paths are covered so you’re not walking in dirt or mud. The displays are creative and fun for taking tons of photos and videos for memories or social media. Everything was well set up. The music for each area really enhanced the experience. Drinks were a tad pricey for the tiny cup size but I understand it’s one of those “convenient” things similar to pricing at theme parks. There’s a nice big indoor area to order food and eat, warm up, and use the bathroom. We parked off site and I would just recommend those tall propane heaters and some lighting near the shuttle pick up area to help with the wait times. Otherwise, dress warm and have fun!!!

This was our first year going to the Botanic Garden for holiday lights. We loved it. It's all outdoors, so dress warm. They had fun light up gadgets to buy, several snack/wine stops, and lots of unique lights and lasers. They even had 'snow' machines (it was some kind of foam). It's about a mile walk with some incline, but an easy walk for the most part. We plan on coming back in the warmer months

Really pretty gardens and nature with nice hiking/walking trails. Also has a nice Cafe inside visitor center with glass walls overlooking forest. We walked through and saw everything in a little over an hour with two adults.

A fairly new and modern visitor center with a warm and welcoming lobby with an incredible view of the tree canopy in the valley. Many trails with special touches like outdoor art installations and a trail “newspaper” found frequently along the hike. Clean park with so many visual natural scenes and views. And the cafe was so delicious for a quick luncheon bite.

We have visited dozens of Botanical Gardens across the country, and these gardens are among the least maintained gardens we have seen. When we visited in peak Spring, there is only one small section (see photo) with one peony bush and pink bush in bloom. The remainder of the garden is simply wooded walking trails through the forrest. Price: $15 for adults Duration: 1 hour to walk the entirety of the trails in the garden at a casual pace. Recommendation: I would recommend visiting a local park for drew instead of paying for admission to these gardens

The main visitor center is extremely beautiful and modern with clean bathrooms, a plentiful cafe and a very knowledgeable and kind receptionist. The flowers were beautiful and the hiking on the trains was super easy.

A hidden gem in this area! Such a quiet beautiful place to enjoy a variety of paths and plants! Definitely reccomend an all terrain stroller if walking with one. Bug spray on the warmer days is also a good idea. There are places to sit along the paths, beautiful places to sit and read. A fantastic sensory garden that kids of all ages can enjoy. Definitely worth visiting!

So worth the money, we bought an annual membership on our way out! So much to see and play with in the trails, it took us an hour to walk a mile. Structures, meadows, gardens, wetlands! Even the cafe was 5-star.

I've had the privilege of photographing several weddings here over the past few years and this all in one venue never disappoints! The grounds are beautifully maintained, the event spaces are bright and comfortable and the staff are some of the best I've ever worked with!

Verdant. Serene. An homage to nature. The Pittsburgh Botanical Gardens are an absolute must see for visitors and locals of Pittsburgh alike. One enters these beautiful gardens through a serene canopy of luscious forests, arriving to the welcome center, which is built with scandic and mid century modern design notes. Notably, this botanical garden is unique as compared to traditional gardens, offering more of a nature-based visit without many plant id cards or a guided tour, but more of a winding, organic path through the forest - a welcome feature. The lotus pond has not reached bloom season, and the water appeared a bit green (perhaps due to the proximity of the grass lawns and resulting fertilizer spillage). The carbon art exhibit is inspired, and the bee apiaries were an exciting opportunity to get closer to our pollinators. The 5 sense garden is perfectly fit for grandparents and young kiddos, or for anyone wanting to let out their inner child. The event venue space is less visitor friendly, but must certainly make for a beautiful wedding. After a visit through the garden, we felt a bit thirsty and visited the cafe, which offers drip coffee, refreshing tea, delicious iced matcha, and a variety of nature based bites. Enjoying the beverages on the sunned terrace among the trees is a slice of heaven. The visit to the gardens left us feeling quite serene, like the weight of the world had been alleviated. So lovely, and truly a serene experience.

Even in early spring, before many flowers have bloomed, this place is the bomb. Nature is always beautiful and as the season's progress, so does the flowers and other plant life here. The walking trails are intricate interesting and really nice. There's a lot to look at. But best of all, the Gardens make you feel connected and at peace surrounded by and in nature. Oh, they also have a great gift shop. I spent way too much money on the artisan jewelry there but it's worth it!

This is a lovely botanic garden. Thoroughly enjoyed our walk through the woods and the gardens. This botanic garden is young in comparison to a lot of botanical gardens I have visited. I think as it continues to mature it will get better with age. If you are avid botanic garden fan, go for the ample wooded trails and lovely facilities.

Attended the 2023 dazzling lights event. Definitely recommend paying for the parking to park onsite but otherwise they have a free shuttle. We parked onsite. Parking is very limited. They were having a little bit of an issue with snow machines and some lights but that didn't really alter our experience. I can't imagine the amount of time it takes to set this up. Very beautiful and worth the visit. They do have an area where you can get some snacks and drinks. Hot Coco and bottled water and cider, also there is an option for spiked drinks as well. I honestly really just wanted a soda though water was room temp which isn't kind of my thing. You have to pay by card for the drinks and you can pay cash for the food. Staff is situated throughout the attraction for safety and questions. It wasn't incredibly overwhelmingly crowded and I think that's probably because you have to have your tickets in advance for a specific time so it made viewing the lights that much more enjoyable because you weren't on top of people. They do have a live performer in the food area and they have music throughout the attraction.

A very poorly conceived garden👎👎👎😡😡😡. Didn’t the designer(s) consider that Foliage abscission in Autumn reveals not only the natural terrain of a land as well the design of a man made garden? — it should be common sense that nothing is hidden from the landscape in the Fall!!! A “garden” implies a landscape design that would remain visible and vibrant regardless of the season. — While the appearance of natural flora of any area does changes with the season, a well-conceived garden would display the ingenious hand of its creator. — But This place seems to been conceived amateurishly.😡 👎👎👎This place looks more like barren desolate landscape at this time of year. — What one sees is no different from any urban park or a private home backyard. — there’s something called perennials… were they even considered in garden design??? The receptionist so proudly talked about their “famous” Asian garden featuring a lotus pond. — But in fact, that pond looks more like a swamp !! Most of pond vegetation are rotten!!! — One dreads to think what happens those sluggishly swimming fish when winter comes 😡😡😡 — A good garden designer would have taken into consideration what flora/fauna to put in an outdoor artificial pond !!!! What seems to be an Autumnal prominence in this place is the ongoing construction of artificial lighting, presumably to be lit/displayed for the winter holidays — one can only wonder the thousands of $$$ budget that could have been used for a better garden design where perennials were featured!! A redeeming feature of this place the recreated homestead. But even that lacks any educational information for the casual visitor. The other redeeming feature is the kaleidoscope corner they call Spy garden. There are the weather hardy vegetables upon which the kaleidoscopes focused…. ….Lesson for the designers: spend more time building real gardens (exhibits) like these than artificial electric lighting!!! It’s a good stroll BUT not much of a garden by any stretch of imagination. NOT WORTH THE ENTRANCE FEES.

This was my first year going to Dazzling Nights after hearing about it last year and getting tons of ads for it this year. We decided to try it out this holiday season. Do not buy the parking pass - honestly it’s a waste of $15. The nearby shuttle location was seamless with little to no wait. It worked out perfect (they are private mini coach busses and heated - they had 4 of them on a Thursday night and were running back and forth every 10 minutes). There was 0 wait to get in. I actually was able to get in 30 min before my ticketed time since we arrived earlier than expected. They have plenty of restroom facilities throughout (actual restrooms). Dress warm since you are entirely outside. They have 2 areas with heated rooms (main building and their venue space). They have food/mobile drink carts everywhere and stands with vendors selling light up gadgets. Volunteers/staff are posted everywhere if you need someone to ask a question (or take photos which is what we used them for). Music throughout the entire venue (nice touch). I really liked the sections - specifically the area with the ping pong ball looking strands, the hop section, the pond, and the. Fluorescent flower looking area by the gazebo. It took me 1.5 hours to walk around (we went slow and stopped for photos/took our time) we walked around 1.5 times around the loop. We honestly made our own fun - which if you don’t do that and just look and move on you probably could walk it in under 30 min. They had a live musician performing in the one warming area which was nice. Really nice gift shop as well with seasonal selection. Overall, it was very nice - although I don’t know if I’d come back. It was definitely something different, and I’m glad I came to experience it. Compared to other local light attractions I’d just personally prefer something else/ more. For example Pittsburgh Zoo Asian Lantern festival is VERY similar to this, but is way bigger and more to see. Drive thru Christmas lights (oglebay, Clinton, or North Park) would be just as good/better. Take this as you will, just my opinion as someone who reviews often and frequents many attractions. NOW..any time I’ve been to PGH Botanical Garden in the Spring-Fall has been hands down a top place to visit (you can spend all day I swear). So I will be coming back to the Botanical Garden. I also highly recommend that to anyone.

Beyond being an amazing nature space and one of the most thoughtfully planned and diverse gardens I've seen in Pennsylvania, I'd like to speak to Pittsburgh Botanic Garden's beauty as a wedding venue. I'm a wedding and engagement photographer and I've photographed several events and portrait sessions in the gardens. The space is absolutely stunning for photographs but additionally, their coordination team is wonderful. They are LGBTQ+ friendly, accommodating to various needs, and so attentive and helpful. My couples have always raved about their good experiences planning their event there. If you're looking for a beautiful natural space for your wedding or elopement - I highly suggest Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.

Great experience at the Pittsburgh Botanical Garden. The place seems to still be a work in progress, but they progress is great! Loved the lotus pond and and 5 senses area. Great to walk with a baby or place to take your little ones. Will be back for another visit this summer!!

Mostly a good place for locals to go hiking among the trees or meadows. Limited flowers to view. The gift shop is adorable and the welcome center offers a pretty view. If you're a tourist I'd go if your super into a walk in the woods/meadows a short hike 3 miles max if you walk every spot

The lights were beautiful! We had so much fun even on a very cold windy night. Shuttle was convenient if you do not want to deal with on site parking chaos. Loved the building where you can get snacks and listen to live music. Only complaint was the bathroom on the trail should have been open to use and the shuttle drivers seemed quite flustered & drove fast. Definitely worth a visit though!

Such a beautiful venue - even in the dead of winter!! I photographed a wedding here in February and it was BITTERLY cold outside, and Emily and her team still made the day beautiful and cozy. Their ability to coordinate weddings is just stellar - I can't wait to hopefully work another wedding here soon (maybe when everything is actually in bloom!)
