My visit to JCPENNEY was awful. I was there to make an online return. The checkout/return station was literally located at the farthest wall of the door. I had to find & and ask TWO different associates for directions. Once I found it, I read and reread & reread the sign that should indicate which side of the counter for returns I switched lines FOUR times in an attempt to make sure I was in the correct line. When I finally got to the counter, the woman exclaimed rather loudly that I was in the wrong line. I was at my breaking point because 1. The items I was returning were for my mother, who suddenly died before ever wearing them, and 2. I am (obviously with medical equipment) disabled. I was exhausted. I leaned in to ask her if she could please make an exception and do the return. She then turned away, looked up to the ceiling, to ask in an exasperated tone if I needed to get into the other line!! I literally yelled at her the question, "Are you going to facilitate this return or not!" When she looked back at me, I whispered, in tears, "Lady, I'm sorry. You have no idea what this return is about. Please, please, I do not have the capacity for this right now. My mother just died yesterday, and she never even wore these things" She still did not help me!! Picture a crying woman whispering help me, and she turned away and did the same act as before! Thank goodness a very young man stepped in, triaged & problem-solved by telling her, "take my register, I'll do the return". She still resisted!!! This young man leaned toward me and de-escalated the situation by saying, "You are fine. I used to work at Giant Eagle, and believe me, I've seen the worst. You are nowhere like that!" I apologized to him, explaining why I was so emotional. He kindly refused my apologies. In fact, he paused and gave me his condolences AND gently told me to "just take good care of yourself...". He carefully facilitated the return and offered kindness as I turned to leave. Thank goodness for him. I wish I had noticed his name so I could have praised him to his superiors.

I went to the Avon Ohio store on 4-12-2022. With mailer in hand, my goal was to purchase a quilt and blanket for a bedroom refresh. I looked for about 20 minutes not finding even an indication that they had any. I looked for a sales associate, finding not even one. I went to the front area and asked for help in the domestics dept. They paged more than once and still no-one showed up. I saw an associate walking the aisle and I approached her and she said it wasn't her dept, but she would look. She couldn't find any either. She said she would go in the back room and find someone. An associate did eventually arrive and looked around a bit and then told me they had nothing and I should try another location or order on line. She said there would be delivery charges for on line. I don't get it. They had a major home sale going on, spent marketing dollars on a large mailer and yet had more empty racks than full. I think I could accept all of that, understanding the struggle of getting product, however the disappointing customer service was the deal breaker. Sorry JC Penney, you have lost my vote, my time and my interest.

I just called this store to ask about my online order pickup in store option- NO ONE answers the phone. I called three times, last time I chose Salon to be able to speak to someone- they answered. I then requested to speak to the store manager and I was transferred to her voicemail! Horrible customer service!

In this store this morning....I found great sales, & purchased a few last minutes gifts. HOWEVER....the staff needs to wear their masks correctly. The person who checked me out barely had her mask over her chin!!!! during the check out she's telling me about her son w/ covid & their Christmas plans being postponed....and her mask is barely on her face.

I am not a frequent JCPenney shopper, but I occasionally walk through the store to the mall. I did twice last week and checked for handbags the first time and a specific jogging suit the second time. Both times the cashiers would try not to honor your marked down discount. After I insisted and told them about the discount above the shelf, they walked back to check for the price. Today I purchased a set of pants and jacket called "Mr. Jogger", marked 40% off, regular price $49, discounted to $27.99. I also had a 25% discount on my phone app. The cashier (Assoc # 0615) was very rude and told me the items come back at full price but she would honor the 25% from my phone app. I insisted getting the 40%. She walked back to check the price, did not apologize, just adjusted the price. My total came to $61.60. I handed her one 50$ bill, one 20$ bill and $1.50 in coins. She said she had no 10$ bill for change. After a while she agreed to give me two 5$ bills. She was moody, unpleasant to deal with, and I asked her if she tried to charge me full price on purpose, hoping I wouldn't notice that my items had been marked down 40%. She did not respond but slammed the bag with my items on the counter. Cashiers need to understand that their job is partially CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have no jobs without customers!

A throwback big box department store that's getting better at surviving in the modern economy. I love the service, I really enjoy the different variety of selections of men's women's and kids stuff. I hope they're able to hang on and make the transition to modern shopping tastes.

I took my family here for holiday photos. I was warned that I booked on a busy weekend at the time I set my appointment. We got there and was told they were running behind, I was expecting this and asked about how the wait would be. At that point they said 20-30 minutes and I figured that was reasonable. The problem was they didn't get to us for an hour and a half past our our appointment time and they knew it would take that long and chose to be dishonest. We finally get in to get the pictures taken and the lady seemed very irritated and rude. I wait longer after the pictures were taken to review them and pick out what I wanted to purchase and that lady kept going with her sales pitch after I clearly stated I was only interested in digitals. She kept going and going after I verbalized this several times still trying to sell me everything but what I was interested in. This review would have been more positive had they just been upfront with me initially and listened when I was making my final purchase.

I tried to fill out a survey from 4/7/23, today. Very bad experience. There is no expiration date on my Penny's credit card therefore I could not even begin the survey. I called to report this and the person that finally answered the phone had an obvious problem with his phone. Everything he said was broken up and I did not get one word in. Very poor communication. However, associate 0273 at store 1323 was an excellent service representative. The term is 051 and the tran is 4112

Stil priced competitively. I got a shirt and shorts for a little more than thirty dollars. You could go to Walmart for cheaper, but these clothes are better quality.

Nice workers.. but....I don't like that online price if different from in store price.. I have to order online and pick it up.. I hate that because I love going in store looking around at other items .. Why can't I just get the same sale price in store 😫

I can always find well made, reasonable priced clothing for my size here. Great selection and styles. Clean and comfortable shopping experience. Excellent accessories collection too.

A great store but condensing down to one checkout is phenomenally stupid and short-sighted. The line is 20 plus deep. Making the BMV look fast and efficient.

Returned to JCPenny to buy a different color of a purse that I previously purchased only in a different color. I found the exact same one in a different color at 30% off and an online additional 25% off. So total just a little over 1/2 price. Great store, great prices and good customer service.

Took my Mom to find a coat and a pair of boots. Found those plus a nice purse. The cashier was very nice. Mom saved $250.04.

Large selection of clothes for men and women. Plus they have deals where you can catch things with a nice percentage off. I recommend JCPenny to all my friends and family.

I visited this store looking for pair of prescription glass. I started by talking appointment for eye examination since I wanted a progressive lenses. I paid more than 400 USD for progressive, transitional lens. I had to wait two weeks to receive it. Two weeks later I went to pick it up. They made me a polarizing, progressive lens!!!!! When I told them this is wrong lens they did apologize and order new pair for me but now I have to wait another two weeks. Gods knows what I’m going to get after the new two weeks waiting.

I am disappointed in the salon. Not only was I overcharged the beautician messed up my color. Manager said well she shouldn't have quoted you a price over the phone. Then of course the beautician had a different view: agreed on a partial highlight and cut. Well when rinsing discovered color didn't match existing highlights had to put a rinse on it. Now color is blended, highlights no longer. Charge for a full highlight and cut, $140.00. Will never go back. Way over price, lousy job.

Went there to buy a new shirt. The clerk was very helpful in finding out what the price would be. They actually had a good selection of shirts. I'm a bigger man and I'm harder to fit. Lots of parking, I was in and out.

Ordered a pair of dress pants online for same day pickup. Pants were ready within an hour and pickup was fast and easy. Pants are in good condition and fit well. Very happy with my whole order!

Every JCPenney rep I encountered on 8/18/2022 at Great Northern's (Ohio) store was friendly, patient and went beyond to help me. I was impressed especially because this seems rare these days. Two employees explained to me how I can save money and accumulate points. I don't shop much, however, I'll go back to that store and recommend it to others.

Poorly ran and managed. Dirty. Needs updating and a good cleaning. Has the appearance of a store going out of business.

Nicely updated throughout the store. The displays are nicely done. The store seems fresh and current. A large selection of categories and good values make this a great choice. Large luggage selection. Also a Sharper Image section.

We were looking for men's dress shoes. No help available, not much choice of shoes.

I had to return an item purchased and had to hear the 2 cashiers talk about how the dollar amount return would ruin their sales numbers quota as I was the 2nd large return, luckily it wouldn't affect week much until next day. This wasn't said under breath or away from me, but in front of me. I shouldn't have to hear that I'm responsible for a good or bad sale number and now I feel like they are just trying to sell to hit a quota.
