I had a very pleasant online shopping experience with Recess Games. Communication was top-notch, and their employee Conor provided excellent guidance through the online chat. I must deduct three stars, however, for their prices, their discount "offers," and their shipping fees. The first star deduction comes from the fact that practically every game is priced at the maximum MSRP value, which makes your rewards program earnings moot. For example, I have $25 in rewards to use. On the surface, you would think that's a lot of money. However, in the end, the final cost for a game comes out to the price found on other popular game shop websites like Miniature Market and Coolstuffinc with cheaper shipping (see third paragraph below). The second star deduction relates to how they offer discounts. During their holiday/Black Friday sale, they were offering free shipping if you bought at least $35 of merchandise. Not bad. It's a very good deal, considering how much shipping costs with them (see next paragraph). However, you can't also use your rewards!!! I found this to be simply illogical. Why can't you use your rewards along with the free shipping offer? I can understand one coupon or code per purchase, but you should also be able to use your rewards that you *earned*. A coupon code isn't earned. That's an *offer* for you to take up. An earning and an offer are two entirely different things. It just doesn't make sense. The final star deduction is due to their shipping prices. They only use UPS, which is a big drawback. They need to offer more shipping options. As an example, they sell individual Magic the Gathering cards. When you see the shipping for ONE card, you'll be shocked. It's literally $11 to ship ONE card! That's atrocious. They could easily send it USPS first class mail for a lot cheaper ($4 or so). In summary, giving Recess Games two stars is fully justified. They have excellent customer service, but that's not enough for me to go back to them when there are much cheaper options out there with companies that have better rewards programs and lower shipping fees.

Best game store in all of north East Ohio and probably the entire state. Recess is such a welcoming environment with such friendly staff. Getting into a new hobby or figuring out what the next game to get can be a daunting task, but this place makes it so easy. The staff is more than happy to talk to you about games and help you find the right one for you. Their selection of games is also amazing. Such a big store with so much to choose from. Board games, TCGs, DND, Warhammer, dice, paints. This place has it all. They even have new releases out on display so you can see what comes in the box and how to play. There's a back room that has tables to play with others as well as a bunch of games to choose from to play so you can see if you'd like it. As well as a spot to paint minis and terrain if you don't own all the pains and brushes. They do tournaments as well as role playing session for various games throughout the week as well. Anyone who likes tabletop games or thinks they might definitely needs to stop in and check this place out.

Always great and knowledgeable service. Not often you find a place that remembers you and your name. They also have great recommendations when searching for new games. The only place we will buy board games from!!

I love this store so much. I have been coming almost every week to buy something. Everytime I come I always find something new. I only wish there was a branch closer to Bedford. But it is worth the drive. All different sorts of Board Games, D&D, Card Games, TCG's, they also have tables in the back of the store for tournament.

Great selection of new games, including Kickstarter, kids, and RPGs. Tons of minis and painting supplies, too. Very knowledgeable staff if you want assistance choosing a new game. Extensive play tables available. Largest board game selection and ttrpg selection around.

This place is awesome. Wide selection of games and materials. However, the best part is their people. I was approached right away by a salesperson during a busy after Christmas shopping day. He helped me find the game I needed and shared the day's deal without any further pressure to buy. The prices are competitive or better than online. I will definitely return for future gifts.

I don't live in the area, but I would probably shop here more if I did. Stopped by on a Monday afternoon. Staff was friendly and asked if I had any questions or was looking for anything and then left me alone to shop. The shop is spacious and well laid out. Lots of board games and miniature games to browse. I'm not a CCG player, so I'm not sure how their selection ranks vs other stores. Will stop again next time I'm in town.

Great selection of board games. The staff was super helpful, especially Maria, who was a joy to speak to and very knowledgeable about lots of different games and was able to give personalized suggestions based on what other games we’ve liked/already own. The rewards program is also very good and provides a decent discount if you are working on a board game collection. We will definitely be back!

CLEAN. WELL LIT. SPACIOUS. WELL STOCKED. AWESOME VARIETY. PLAYLIST OF MUSIC WAS SPOT ON. My wife and I visited on 4/14/23, our trip took 3+ hours and it was worth it. They also managed to put a dent in my wallet.

Recently expanded to include much more room for shelving and gameplay areas. It's no finished at the moment but definitely opened up the space for tournaments and gave the Warhammer area a separate spot to give more room for everyone. Prices are very standard for games but they have good deals if you wait for some of the older games or the Bazar that happens occasionally, so it's worth joining the newsletter for that if nothing else. Magic tournaments are laid back and not super competitive. People aren't bad but everyone gets prizes and winning doesn't get you a significant amount more, so people are less cutthroat about things. (only played in prereleases). They do not sell or buy individual cards at the moment (don't know if they plan to). The game room selection is pretty good and you don't have to pay, so you can just come hang out there and try a new game or play one you like without being charged which is great.

Recess Games is one of the best game stores in Northern Ohio. Great selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff, decent prices. They offer loyalty rewards discount. And they have a used game sale a couple times a year. If you're into board games, this is a MUST VISIT!!

They truly deserve 6 out of 5 stars. Exceptionally helpful staff. Exceptionally helpful managers. I've driven up and down the the majority the east coast and the states that immediately border the east coast states and I have stopped at literally hundreds of game stores. This is absolutely one of the best.

I like having a board game shop nearby. This spot has a lot to offer other than just board games. They also have a great puzzle selection and some collectables too. The service was great, they even offered to special order a specific game for me.

My favorite gaming store around! It's clean, well organized, and everyone is very friendly! I love purchasing from here if I can find what I'm looking for.

Was just visiting the area and came across this store, staff was so nice to greet us as soon as we entered the store! They were so friendly along our shopping experience and even helped us pick out a new game to play back home. Exceptional job :)

5 stars easy. Friendly, knowledgeable, organized. From the moment I walked in the door I was greated by friendly staff who directed me around the store and answered my questions before I even ASKED. It was organized, alphabetized and clean, so I immediately found the things I was looking for. When I couldn't find the last item on my list a quick stop at the counter and they quickly and expertly found it in seconds just by name. The reward system is great, the selection of games is adequate, but not overwhelming and they do TCG stuff as well, but no singles. Really tho the customer service is my particular highlight that I want to emphasize. As a decade+ long customer of such places and the fact I literally work in a board game store to boot, I left this business CERTAIN I would return and be leaving a postive review.

Tried to order a board game online to send a birthday present to my sister in California. Susan(one of the owners?) asked for my ID through email to complete purchase. When I asked why as I was concerned about fraud and having never bought anything from them before she was incapable or unwilling to explain why they needed my ID. She gave the sane canned response like a robot based on service I can only presume she is. As their prices was $50 more expensive cancelled and went with Restoration Games. I recommend them quick and simple.

Recently, I had decided to buy a box of Magic the gathering booster packs as a thank you gift for an avid magic player but I was not sure what I should get or where to start. When I called the store, a young woman by the name of Jess answered and provided Outstanding customer service. She was very patient with me and answered all of my questions and was extremely knowledgeable and was able to guide me to the right purchase. I would recommend Recess games to anyone, casual or avid gamer alike.

10/10. Ordered online and got it shipped. Ordered it around noon my time and it was shipped in less than 2 hours. Super quick shipping, great packaging and all around good experience. Definitely will order here more.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. There's always an event going on and they showcase new games right when you walk in. The recent renovations have made the place even better. Separating the play space from the store was an excellent move.

Definitely not the best. Charging $30 for PokΓ©mon Build and Battle kits that contain only four packs and normally retail for approximately $22.99 is a little excessive. $30 is a few dollars more than even the six pack bundles normally retail for. I was willing to pay that price for the opportunity to open the set early but even given the circumstances there are more affordable options around town. The staff was friendly and welcoming but the nature of this business relies upon prospective repeat business and they definitely didn't earn mine.

Recess Games has a great game selection, but there are a couple of things that bug me. Their promotional offers are way too short, and some items are pricier compared to other stores. Also, I've noticed a shift in the staff's friendliness. The old team was super welcoming, but some newer staff members don't have the same vibe. Still, it's a solid place for games!

A far cry from the past of Reality Recess. I used to love this business, spending countless evenings ripping packs and LANing with at the old location. Since getting back into TCG, I decided to try to give them some business. $180 for a Fusion Strike booster box? Hilariously enough the lady made sure to tell me there was a limit of one. I went online and literally ordered 2 boxes for that price with enough leftover for lunch. Worse prices than scalpers.

Easily the highest quality, friendliest, and well stocked game store I've ever been to. If you consider yourself a geek at all and you haven't been here, you're doing yourself a great disservice. A third of the store is committed to wall to wall board games, the second third is Warhammer and other table top game supplies, and the rest is the open play area. Live in store events are awesome, they have something for everyone and an event nearly every night of the week. Players are friendly and the environment is pretty casual for events. Staff are friendly and enthusiasts themselves, even playing in events, so you know they're recommendations come from a sincere place. Do yourself a favor and stop in, you won't regret it.

While the selection is vast, the prices are a bit more than expected and it feels very "corporate" for a game store. It felt more like a place to go in buy packs and get out than to spend time playing games. Overall though I would stop in again.

Always the best experience and customer service. The single best table top game store in town, hands down.

Just had an awesome, online experience with Recess Games. Had a special order and James was kind enough to email me back a few times with the status of the order. He treated me really well, and it felt good to have a nice customer service experience (these days). Just got it yesterday and couldn't be happier! Wish I was closer so I could visit the store in person. For now, I'll be buying from them online. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Visually, this place is amazing. Gorgeous layout, nice selections, always clean, however, complete ripoff. Like unheard of surge pricing. Astral radiance boxes for 180??? That's the craziest stuff I've ever heard of. Literally everywhere else, including Amazon have it at a maximum of 114.99. If they would stop such an ugly business practice and trying to take advantage of their customers, this would be the best card shop around but sadly, a nice aesthetic isn't worth an extra 70 dollars per box. They have awesome tournaments though so if it weren't for atmosphere I would have given them one star

Been a PokΓ©mon regular a little over a year now and I couldn’t recommend this store enough. Great staff, great selection of products and accessories, and a fun local scene. Recess is one of the many excellent stores that gives northeast Ohio it’s reputation for being a PokΓ©mon tcg hub!

My experience with Recess Games is probably one of the oddest I've had with a business but it turned out to be a wonderful shopping experience. I tried to order an item but there was a shipping issue and I was absolutely crushed. I called to try to sort through things and had an unfortunate Customer Service encounter. I reached out to the business owner not expecting to get anywhere based on my previous experience but was pleasantly surprised by James and how gracious he was handling the situation. James went above and beyond to remedy the situation and I'm more than impressed. There was even a sweet little die for Recess Games' 30th anniversary in the package. Thank you to James and all of the Recess Games staff for helping me to complete my purchase ❀️

Great staff and great selection. Generous rewards program and plenty of sales. The only place I'll go for Warhammer shopping.
