👍👍 Friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable staff members and volunteers. Have plenty of iconic airplanes and engines on display. Once a month, they have a steam engine running between the two stations. Plenty of activities for children, especially during the school holidays periods. Superb place for a family visit - great mix of old and new, with lots of hands-on for the kids. But be prepared to have to pull them away from the fun in the helicopter cockpit!

After a short tram ride from M1, the kids had a great time at M2. The planes were magnificent, and when the kids got bored, they just started making and flying paper airplanes.

I've visited MOTAT many times since the 1960s. It is always an awesome place to visit and see the new exhibitions etc. The new Aviation Hall on the Meola Road site is absolutely fantastic. Visit directly at the Meola Road site or take the tram from the Great North Road site.

Great display of heaps of iconic aircraft. The employees were very knowledgeable. I talked to a guy named Andrew for about an hour. He could recall all of the designers of all the aircraft and the back story to all of them!

Great place to go if you like old planes and history, the good thing is that if you pay for your entry here you get into the other site down the road and a free tram ride to and from this location. well worth the money.

So much fun. Well priced for a day out for the family. Loads to see and do. Cafe is a bit pricey but isn't bad. The tram is loads of fun for young and old

I’m always amazed at how big the war birds actually were and how deadly they look with the bombs they are holding. I love this part of Motat, first because you can enjoy a trip in a tramway and second because history of flight is made of wondrous experiments. A lovely step back in time.

Lots of different aircrafts on display, with screens to describe the exhibits. Once a month, there's a special event where more exhibits are opened to the public. Check their website for more details.

Absolutely epic. They have one of the two remaining Short Solent flying boats in the world, the other one being in San Fransisco. Highly recommend for those who like planes and just generally anyone else interested in NZ history.

Good but a bit dark inside. Lancaster is interesting as painted differently on both sides but real identity is known.

As someone who frequents aviation museums whenever possible, this is one of the best smaller aviation museums I've come across. They have an exceptional collection for it's size, including some rare examples. The exhibits are also well laid out and informative.

Outstanding!! I was blown away by the vast majority of exhibitions. This is a must see for all history lovers. This place is a national treasure. The team was busy with maintenance and upgrades on certain areas when we visited, but that did not bother us at all. It was still worth every second. The tram ride to M2 is a must. Its amazing to relive the past. Well done team.

Great collection of Helicopters and other aviation vehicles. Good for kids 7 year and above. Got a chance to ride in Steam engine train, which runs once in a month. Enjoyed the tram ride upto motat. Recommend to park at Aviation Hall parking then visit it and take a tram upto Motat and then come back using Tram. Tram ride in entertaining. Motat Hall is also very good.

Absolutely incredible experience when you walk in the doors and see the massive planes greeting you after the fun tram ride. Fun helicopter experience and interactive terminals for the kids, toilet on site and a bit of outdoor seating. Fantastic, highly recommended.

A not boring compares to the main site but still lots of fun. If you are a die hard planes fan this is the place to go. Similar museum in chc offers free admission.

Loved it. Was blown away to see the Lancaster. Shame you weren't allowed inside to look out the turrets

Great to see so many iconic aircraft from the 20th century. All in such good condition. Also quite a few knowledgable volunteers to chat with about the aircraft. A must visit

Definitely recommend to younger kids who love aviation or anything big. Good walk around, makes you feel so tiny inside. Only thing is dress super warm, can get quite cold in here. But apart from that worth the visit if you haven't been.

Beautiful collection of various military, commercial and recreational aircrafts. Quite an informative experience with the brief history of the contribution of Sir Keith Rodney. And i love the tram ride getting to the Aviation Hall which is part of the admission fee you paid for

Visited with family, enjoyed the tram ride to the Aviation Hall. Kids had fun playing in the helicopter. Not much for toddlers beside the helicopter but worth a visit to see the planes and understand the history

This museum of the MOTAT premises is accessible by tram from the main museum, apart from Meola road. It houses aviation engines, planes and other over sized objects. It is always a fascinating experience to visit. The kids always love it and are awestruck by the planes collection. Staff are nice and helpful. The Tram ride is awesome and a must do while visiting here. Well recommended.

👍👍 A nice park in the middle of the runabout within MOTAT Aviation area. Just a very short walk from the tram station, MOTAT Aviation Hall, and the MOTAT parking spaces. Have a few benches hidden behind the bushes, under the aeroplane statue. Seems to be the favourite lunch time for MOTAT's staff membe...
