Joined a few months ago and wasn't sure what to expect but I have been pleased with it so far. Positives - spacious, lots of equipment, cleaning stations, different zones for different types of training, changing area is nice and clean. It can get busy, especially in the free weights area, but I have always been able to get on the equipment with a little patience. Criticisms - staff aren't always easy to find, there's only one place to get water in a huge room, and on the weights section the cable machines often seem to break down and there are very few rope handles. As others have noted, because it's affordable and 24hrs, it's quite a young clientele in there, you do get groups of young people, usually boys, coming in together especially in the afternoons during the week, and they can hog a station for ages taking turns and taking selfies in the mirror, but it's not really been a huge problem for me, and everyone I've spoken to there has been perfectly civil. Only other annoying thing is when people don't put weights, plates and handles back on the racks. Overall it's quite good value for money and very convenient.

Pro's - cheaper than most other gyms, spacious, lots of equipment, range of classes on, bonus of having a sauna. Cons - loads of kids and radgies seem to congregate here and hog machines/takes selfies. Also in the summer it is boiling and the AC never seems to be working.

The gym has good kit but the following is disappointing: - The males changing rooms constantly smell like they need a deep clean (sweat/urea?) - Ventilation/cooling is poor. - It is the busiest gym I have used, meaning it’s often difficult to get equipment access other than the cardio machines (not their fault it’s popular I know).

Decent gym equipment, shame about the air conditioning. If you like doing cardio in a sauna this place is for you, the heat is unbearable.

Warning: be very weary they get virtually all negative feedback deleted off here. Ask yourself why only the most bland 8 x reviewed of 1 star feedback remain. They have had deleted mine and my girlfriend’s previous posts at the start of the year on this place. Day 1: Just joined back at Jd shiremoore on their £5 Black Friday deal. Just as I did last year I’m leaving the exact same feedback. There is still Virtually no WiFi signal here in a less than quarter filled early morning gym, the showers are still lukewarm and last only for a few seconds at a time - worse is the gents toilets hygiene are still the same - urine pools left for hours and feaces stains all over the white Porcelin and plastic parts of both toilets. Day 5 -The gents toilets have been filthy every day all week (see photos all on separate days) with pools of urine and feaces marks on the toilets for hours. Gym staff lounging about doing nothing all day sat on their back sides around reception and their back office instead of checking on these basic things. I mentioned it to them at the start of the week twice and both the male and female gym staff just said that the cleaner would be round shortly to sort it. They never did in the 3 hours I was there and the staff didn’t even bother to go and get a mop themselves or even look at the state of the toilet. I came back here a year after my last review to see if they’d turned it around by now yet. Sadly they have not. My advice is use the £5 black Fri deal and ditch it afterwards is the only thing I can say, certainly don’t bring your family or friends to this filthy place. It’s a shame because the equipment and black Fri deal isn’t bad hense the only option for the one star is probably justified here. However the showers haven’t improved either only run for a few seconds each time too and are mostly cold luke warm at best. I see they managed to get my last years 1 start negative feedback deleted too so bear this in mind that when reading all other feedback comments it’s likely this and other feedback would be deleted too. Day 7 - I have literally just witnessed a male and female staff member come into the male toilets changing rooms to do a ‘walk around’ and saw the male member sign the sheet(whoever MH ?) and walk straight back out - leaving both toilet cubicles still caked in highly obvious feaces and urine pool states without any cleaning conducted whatsoever- I then watched them walk back out and have idle chit chat with other members on the treadmill. This is completely unacceptable and not once in the first two week have these toilets been cleaned despite the hourly signatures on the wall record - appallingly bad leadership and management of this place. It’s a health and safety nightmare waiting to happen for all sorts of germs, viruses and deceases.

The space is great, but it was boiling inside, hotter than the outside. Many of the machines need maintenance or fixing up or plainly replacing. Cardio area, studio and spinning felt to be top quality, everything else needs desperate attention.

£20 month is a bargain, unreal gym, high quality equipment and facilities, however it’s absolutely boiling and the toilets could do with some more cleaning as they’re often in a state.

Great gym, great facilities +crossfit space! Great trainers and super friendly. Gym needs to step up it's Covid precautions before winter flu +Covid grinds the nation to a hault. Can't find any kit to clean equipment. Wipes and sprays were everywhere at the height of the pandemic, why have they been entirely taken away?

It’s a decent gym staff are friendly. Couple of things which has led to a 3 star review - PLEASE sort out the air con or provide fans around the gym like last summer. It’s unbearably hot even before starting your work out! Even the studio which is usually nice and cool has been boiling the last few times I’ve been. Also, the removable padded bench in the weights area as you come in, (often used for hip thrusts) there is only one of those and it’s almost always being used even in non - peak times. Another one of those would be lovely ! :)

Lots of equipment available, sadly some customers don't fancy putting it back after themselves, everything is mixed up especially the dumbbells and at the opposite end of the gym. unless your arms fell off with the bar if you can deadlift 150kg you can put it back! needs to be monitored better. Other than that great facilities and I'm glad I joined.

These guys care about the safety and environment of their customers! They respond very politely on their socials and this gym will be a great place for people to get in shape

Sufficient facilities. Be warned the showers do not run hot water continuously, even after advising them several times! Cost-cutting not acceptable.

The facilities and equipment and decent value for money. However, the approach to cleaning and hygiene at this club is the worst I've seen in 30 years of working out in gyms Since covid restrictions lifted, they have systematically removed cleaning stations and there is now 1 station for the entire gym tucked away in a corner. when I complained about this over 6 months ago, I was advised by management that this was mandated by head office, so I can only assume the same will be found at other JD gyms. At the time I was assured that this 1 station, along with a couple tiny signs asking members to clean equipment after use would be sufficient. This was down to the change in employment model meaning that all fitness staff and trainers will be accountable for cleaning equipment at every shift. Well, over 6 months on, and I can count on 1 finger the amount of times I have seen fitness staff cleaning, and that goes for all times of the day, not just peak evening times when they may be busy helping members. Instead I witness on almost a daily basis 2 or more members of staff just hanging around the desk or in the office As for members, I can count on 1 hand the amoint of times I've seen equipment cleaned after use. And lost count of the amount of times I watched people dripping in sweat, walk away leaving their equipment in a similar state. To be blunt, the only thing keeping me here is my PT, who is fab, and it's he left, so would I. If you are considering joining this gym, I would recommend always wiping down equipment before use, and only leave personal items of clothing nowhere near most equipment as they will come away covered in dust. I would love to leave a better review, but there is a huge amount of improvements that need to be made to get the basic cleanliness and practices up to a sanitary minimum.

First time going, no staff, you have to bring your own padlock for the lockers. Got locked out buying one. Second time going, good experience, weights and dumbbells are very unorganised though

Always nice and clean and plenty of cardio machines available when I've been never have to wait . Only downsides is no tv's or jacuzzi, steam rooms or a pool just a sauna

Good selection of equipment, good price. However, often too busy to actually get on anything you want. Left the gym after 10mins tonight because of this. Have previously walked in and walked straight back out on 3 separate occasions because you can just see you're not going to get on anything.

The gym itself was nice enough, very spacious, the bench racks are nicer than any of the benches at the gym group. It was very quiet on a Sunday evening. My reasons for 3 stars are: To drop in to the gym you buy a pass out of the vending machine, however the vending machines are beyond the security gates so it’s catch 22, you still need someone there to let you in. The patrons of the gym are AWFUL at putting away their weights so you have to hang around for a while to make sure the equipment isn’t being used and someone isn’t super setting/gone to the toilet, etc. Gym staff/management could be more proactive about encouraging this in the gym or tidying through the day. There are not many “change plates” available, it took me a while to hunt down some 1.25kg and 2.5kg plates, from what I saw there may only be 2-3 pairs of these (not ideal when combined with people not putting equipment away).

Nothing but positive vibes! Staff always friendly and helpful.l get a lot out of the classes JD burn and xfit are the best.🤸 Started PT with a very qualified instructor called Gavin. I highly recommend him if your thinking of doing PT 🏋️

Nice gym but been on several occasions where cables are broken on machines or there really stiff definitely need greased up I use both shire and Benton benton is far superior more cable machines not so crammed in but over all I do love them both .

Lots of different machines and classes available, sauna in the shower room which is nice after a workout. Sometimes the gym is really full and most of the machines are taken.

Been a member here since it opened in 2020. Love the classes, JD burn and Xfit, all the instructors are friendly and approachable. Have also started PT with Gavin which is a whole other level. Would definitely recommend him

Been going here recently as they have taken over xercise4less in benton and its being refurbished. It's alot smaller than benton, but good amount of machines and a nice atmosphere inside with the lights. Nice little area to fill up your water too. Good sized changing rooms with plenty of lockers. It does always seem to be very warm despite there being several fans on the gym floor, maybe the air con or general air circulation needs looked at. It's more or less always busy too, although the times I've been I've been able to use machines I wanted. No one here likes to put their weights back after they're finished with them either...

Everyone's super friendly. So much equipment and a really good range of classes each day. There's cleaning stations to sanitise the equipment after use dotted about which is great too. 👍

Good gym with loads of machines, if you go straight after work don’t expect to get on what you want

Air con is never on, or is on so low you cant feel it. Could pass out when doing cardio

Too busy any time I've been to actually enjoy it and have a decent workout. I may cancel my membership soon!

Decent gym with plenty of equiptment, downsides are the changing rooms always seem to smell strange and the whole building is absolutely roasting 24x7!
