Not sure how someone reviews a mountain. But this is a mountain. Therefore it is great.

BE CAREFUL lots of widomakers and loose rock. I mean lots! If you are unfamiliar with the term widow maker, Google it. Hike stays at a pretty healthy grade right to the top. When your on the logging switch backs and come to where gps says the judges route starts you can actually drive probly another 1.5k, if you don't mind some branch marks on your vehicle. I camped out there for the night and had a BBQ the next day.

This is a steep hike with a huge payoff. Full disclosure, I'm not what most people would refer to as being 'fit', but i made it most of the way to the top. My inexperience of hiking in snow is what ended up stopping me from reaching the summit, but if I'd had a bit more gear (Ice axe for sure, during this time of year) I would've made it to the top. The trail is relatively well marked, but it isn't highly maintained, so expect some spots of loose dirt or rock. good footwear is mandatory. you don't want to do this in a pair of cheap sneakers. As far as being prepared, bring poles, they'll help a lot going down, and a camera, even though the views are unforgettable.

A much easier hike than judges route. You can access the saddle, mt cokley, Jewel lake and under the bumps of arrowsmith.

Great hike for those who like a decent challenge without a 3 hours drive to fetch the high peaks of the Strathcona park. The trail head can be a bit tricky to find for those who don’t know the area, so be sure to download a google map and back it up with park information description. Overall, this hike is quite accessible both in location and fitness level, but surely should not be underestimate and anyone heading for the summit should plan for an emergency overnight (mostly in shoulder season) as a precaution as weather can move quickly in this area. The peak will offer amazing views of the surrounding areas and beyond, including the Olympic range and Mount Baker on very clear days.

Great hike up judges route, steep the entire time, best accessed with a 4*4 but you can get fairly close to trail head with a car as well. Some sections have large exposures and there are no ropes to assist you.

Took the 'Judges Route' to the top on a fogged in and blustery day. It was still spectacular. The horde of Whiskey Jacks that pined for my oat bran bar on the way down were quite fun to interact with. :)

The hike is relatively short, very very steep, but short. The view from the top is quite amazing. It's a short drive from Victoria can easily be done in an afternoon.

Incredible views at the end of this demanding hike. Definitely not for everyone, but those who make it will be well compensated for their efforts.

Great views after a steep climb! Can be sketchy in some spots and not for the feint of heart. Beautiful in the end and can see the whole coast line and more.

Amazing mountain. Love how easy it is to access Alpine terrain with minimal effort. I prefer the Saddleback route over the judges route.
