Very good lunch menu. 3 courses for just under £10, nice food and good service well worth the money. Would highly recommend and plan to go again.

I had heard loads of good things about this pub cos the Sperrin Brothers brew their own beer!!! The draught beer was indeed fantastic and I tried two different pints and wow!! BUT we had come to eat cos we know the sister pub the Blue Boar where the food is great. Well.....we should have stuck with the Blue Boar. Two of us had the mixed grill (medium) and I had the all day breakfast. What a suprise, the medium grill was TOO WELL done to be honest and even my bacon and sausages were cooked to a frazzle. Not a good food experience but the beer was wonderful!!

Just got home from here. Had a two course meal from their smaller plates lunch time menu. Very good value. The steak pie was divine and the chips were lovely. It was too big for me so not that small a plate. We weren't rushed and it was so good to catch up with my friend. Lovely

Very impressed with the quality of the food and the portion size for the price. Puts other chain restaurants in the shade. The nautical theme was quirky and unique, adding to the enjoyable experience. Service was also good. Will be visiting here again v.soon.

I do enjoy a meal at The Nelson. Nautical themed so you think you are on a boat. Food is quality using local suppliers and cooked to perfection by the guys in the kitchen. Friendly staff and there own micro brewery producing tasty beers.

We have visited Lord Nelson for many years, but last week I was very disappointed. I had Roast of Day, there was only 1 small roast potato, which had pepper on it, I dislike spices. 2 boiled potatoes, desert spoon of veggies, Gammon which was extremely salty. Very disappointed after the years of enjoying meals with you. Change of chef ‘I wonder’.

Under new management. Things are afoot. A charming micro pub in a currently dying town. Its a becon of hope for those who love rare and real ales, and more. Best wishes to the new owners.

Excellent steak best we’ve had in a long while! Hadn’t booked but was found a table. Service was very good. Staff were great. Attentive but not hovering. Lovely pub and good beer!

Been here many times and came for Sunday lunch with my Mother who lives locally. We sat in the area to the far side, which I have never eaten in before. Although the main area of the pub is reasonably decorated, unfortunately the area we were shown to is in great need of refurbishment. It does feel like a 1980’s diner. That said, the food is good. Portions are generous and 2 of us had steaks, which were cooked to our liking and very tasty. Chips were plentiful and hot. We felt that a side salad would be a better addition than peas. One person had a beef roast dinner, which again was delicious, with a good selection of veg. Whoever cooks here, knows what they are doing and the Staff were pleasant and hard working. Service was swift. Thank you.

Tried here for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago after moving I to the area. Ordered the steak an ale pie and had to return it as it was only just warm. Received it back 25 minutes later when everybody else at our table had finished and was presented with a pie that had been warmed up and gone jellyfied inside . Fair enough our server was lovely and removed the meal from the bill and couldn't apologise enough assuring us that normally the pie is very sought after. Went back last week family member ordered the pie low and behold the same again it was jellyfied and congealed together and was unedible. Sorry to say won't be returning for food ,but must say staff are very friendly .

We love this little village pub. It is the only place we ever go to for a drink. Lovely kids play park across the road, so the kids have fun while we relax in the beer garden and we can still see the kids 👍

Great little micro-brewery with good pub food. Never been disappointed by it. Great staff too. Place really goes overboard with the navy theme, but you have to admire the commitment.

Very good all round menu to suit all pockets. I had a mixed grill with four types of meat all cooked to perfection. The table service was excellent and the staff were great.

Want a to eat out and get a taste of original great British food? Then look no further than the Nelson. They have a wonderful menu at a great price range that will get your taste buds going! From there steamed Cod all the way to the original burger menu, there's something for everyone's palate, great access and easy to get to with a small on site car park. Finally a privately owned pub with a wholey original menu, something which is very hard to find these days!! 5 stars.

Great food with a short wait. I've been with my girlfriend and her family a couple times and haven't been disappointed. The portions are a decent size and the food is fantastic. I'm sure I'll be going back again in the future.
